Emden Bass is a charming farmhouse set on a working farm and offers comfortable self-catering accommodation surrounded by the beautiful Witteberg, Rooiberg and Maluti mountain ranges. The farm is located 19 km from Fouriesburg, a small town in the Free State of which 12 km is gravel road and is a short drive from the Calendonspoort border post to Lesotho.
Accommodation is offered in the Main House, Die Melkstal and Bass Fishing.
The main house comprises of 3 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 6 guests. There is an electrical blankets and panel heaters. The bathroom has a shower and a bath. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, small stove, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, crockery and cutlery. There is a sit- and dining area leading to the outside braai area with a basin, as well as a swimming pool..

The accommodation was excellent value for money with an attentive host and excellent view.
Had a great time and it was so quiet and peaceful. Dam a bit far from home but that's ok. Owner immediately filled a section that was a bit difficult to drive through and was then able to get there easily. Fridge doesn't get very cold forgot to mention this to owner. Other than that, everything was great. Thanks for the pleasant weekend.

The directions from Anzelle helped a lot so that we didn't take the wrong path. We were received very hospitably, and it was nice to go for a walk on the farm. Unfortunately it rained all Saturday, but we made a fireplace and played board games, (Anzelle even sent us games). Thank you Duncun for the help with the kombi's battery, as well as the extra ice, we really appreciated your hospitality and help. Emden Bass is a lovely break from the city. We would love to come back again to use the bass pond.

We had a great stay at Emden Bass. Everything was very clean, and very well organized, we were received kindly. The farm is quiet and safe with beautiful views and a very nice garden. It's quite a bit of dirt road to drive - no problem for a vehicle with good ground clearance, but smaller sedans may struggle a bit in places.
We were kindly welcomed and had a great time. Would definitely recommend it.
There are only kitchen cabinets and a sink with cold water where you have to walk through a room to get to the sink. The kitchen cupboards and plates are therefore very far apart and there is only a small sink with cold water for washing dishes. It was very inconvenient when the house is full of people.

Very nice place. Anzelle great hostess. Place is clean and tidy and you can really rest here. Just be aware that you will have to drive about 12 km of dirt road.
We were very hospitably received by Anzelle, a lovely person. She made us feel very much at home and if something was missing it was not a problem for her, The Melkstal is well furnished and we as a family had a wonderful stay.

Emden Bass is very beautiful, clean and tidy. Typically places tranquility that makes you relax. The owners are hospitable and very pleasant. We rested and visited very well.
Although we booked just to have a place to sleep and use bathroom there were good and bad points: Good points - nice place, clean rooms, comfortable and very quiet if you want some quiet time. Bad points - the sheep hospital is right next to the rooms which attracts flies to the unit specially with the dead sheep lying there as well we saw the people on arrival to give the key and never again even checked out by key in by letting go and driving. So we just made do with toilet paper and the town is far away. I would just suggest letting people know that it is around 20 km of sandy road that you don't drive there with a road bike or low car. But I have to say that the positive definitely outweighs the negative and so I would advise any person to go and stay there.
Great lack of proper kitchen facilities (ice/freezer, proper stove). When it's cold or raining hard, you won't be able to cook. Without the porch off and you can make a very nice dining/hanging out place. The atmosphere on the farm is peaceful. Take a lot of wood and Doom because it is used a lot, medical box, hospital is far, if someone gets injured. Fortunately, we at least tried to make the best of the situation. Will not go again because what you get does not justify the price compared to other places in the same price range. Bushwagons will be able to camp at the dam.

It was a great way to get away and still be close to the Welgelegen wedding venue. Great service, nice people and an amazing view. I would definitely go back.
