101 guests' feedbackFriendly reception, beautiful unit with all the basic amenities. Real country hospitality and working farm.
Braai pack is fantastic!
Unit was neat, clean and comfortable and everything was there that we would need. We were very kindly received by the host. Our pets were welcome and the unit was fenced which made it very nice for our dogs.
See stars.
My husband and I stayed with our 2 dogs. It was very comfortable. The dinner, homemade by Freyni, was absolutely delicious. Friendly hosts. Delightful and spacious cottage. We loved it and will return again.
Amenities were very good. WiFi, a USB power plug and two prong plugs. There are lights for load shedding, another "light point" and a gas stove to boil water for coffee etc. in such times. - As a single traveler, I really appreciated that you are still in contact with the world. The breakfast sandwich was delicious. It's basic accommodation but perfect for a one-night stay.
Lovely rustic cottage on farmland a couple of kms off the main road. Very peaceful. Owners are friendly and helpful. Some books, magazines, etc. and an info pack/map on farm walks and where to eat and go in the area would be helpful for the solo traveller, but a great stay.
We will definitely stay there again. We ordered the braai pack option for an optional dinner, we enjoyed delicious sausage, steak and lamb chops. The accompanying salad was original and the freshly baked bread was a global favourite. The breakfast pad food option was also a winner. We recommend Erin Farmhouse & Cottages with the utmost confidence.
This is our 3rd time at Erin's. Still very happy with cleanliness, service and location.
Great position for a stopover stay when travelling from Joburg to PE. Friendly host and comfortable room with small fenced garden - perfect when travelling with dogs. Erin offers a breakfast sandwich pack that is delicious and convenient for the traveller.
We were the only guests for the evening, it was wonderfully quiet. The unit is furnished with everything one needs, even lights for load shedding. It was very cold, but there are plenty of warm blankets and even an electric blanket on the master bedroom bed. The hostess even turned on the heating for us before our arrival. Nice and cuddly!
Great host who communicates very effectively.
Our second time at Erin Farmhouse & Cottages. Each cottage has a fenced garden for pets. Accommodation clean and comfortable. Braaipak with side dishes was very tasty. Already booked there again.
On N9 just 10 km outside Middelburg. Rosemary unit is detached unit fully fenced for pets with barbecue and other facilities. Neat and comfortable accommodation with very beautiful Karoo landscapes and birdlife. Will book there again.
In the cold, you made us feel cozy and warm with a lovely fireplace and warm beds. Will definitely book there again. Thank you.
We've stayed here a few times. The closed-off private gardens are great for your dogs. Everything is super clean - absolutely perfect. Relax, have a braai and you don't have to worry about your dogs wandering off. The units are very well-equipped and meals may be ordered ahead of your stay. The farmhouse is just off the N9 and the very short gravel road drive is easy - no 4x4 necessary.
This was my second visit, really enjoyed again. Perfect pet friendly, great walking. The dinner was exactly what was needed after a long drive. Such a friendly couple, they make you feel at home.
Our hosts Freyni and Justin did their utmost to make us comfortable even so far as preparing us a salad and spuds for our braai. Great.
Very peaceful with everything you may need. Freyni and Justin received us generously and immediately made us feel at home. The typical Karoo sunset was breathtaking.
We stopped over for the night on our road trip and stayed at Rosemary Cottage. Dinner was excellent with Karoo lamb chops done to perfection. Very quiet and tranquil. The cottage has an enclosed garden which was perfect for our dog to stretch her legs after a long day in the road. Thank you for a good stay.
The perfect Karoo stopover. Owners are very helpful and friendly.
Very clean and tidy. Overnight is made easier with everything needed for an overnight stay.
The place was quite acceptable. It was clean and tidy. Unfortunately, the building needs attention. The owners were very friendly and we were met with ice cream and milk. Fortunately there was no load shedding, so we had a nice stay. Barbecued every night and could walk freely on the farm. I suspect the place has recently been taken over by the current owners, because the place doesn't look quite like the pictures on the website.
Facility needs attention. Not enough seating inside. For one person only. Very limited shade at braai area, had to wait until the sun went down before we could sit outside.
The place is nice and private and the best thing was that we could take our little dog with us. Well done, amazing place!
Friendly hosts, clean and comfortable, beautiful views.
My dog and I really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful surroundings. The dinner was wonderful chop, steak, sausage and salad with homemade bread rolls. Special treat of a chop for my dog. So friendly. Will be back.
This guest farm is ideally located just beyond Middelburg, Eastern Cape. We could comfortably drive there with our Fiesta on the short 2 km farm road. And they thought of everything! They provide wood, flash, matches (you usually forget matches), REAL milk, good coffee, and more. The electric blankets were a big treat - that world is getting cold. The bed is already made ever so slightly, but for one or two nights it doesn't matter now. Feel free to pack comfortable shoes and go for a walk in the beautiful grassy plains.
Very comfortable cottage on a beautiful farm! Very friendly reception. Would definitely recommend!
Would highly recommend staying here.
I'm always looking for a place where I can wash some dishes and not struggle to unpack and pack things. Erin's units have plenty of space. We had a very nice stay.
We usually spend the night somewhere near Middelburg on the way to George and accommodation that is pet friendly and comfortable is hard to find. The Mongoose Cottage was perfect for our needs and we would probably stay here again and strongly consider staying more than one night. We made use of the dinner option and the lamb chops with all the side dishes were delicious!
The cottages are well equipped, neat, clean and private. Everything was in working order. The Karoo nights are always something special.
Friendly people making you feel home immediately. Renosterberg in the background - what more do you want?
We found the cottage to be sufficient for an overnight stay. We were very comfortable.
Neat, comfortable and nice people. Delicious, home-cooked dinner.
Slept well and woke to the chirping of birds. The perfect stop on our trip to the coast.
Friendly reception, neat place, could make a nice fire in hearth - helped a lot against the cold!
You are immediately made to feel at home at Erin's place. It's quite private and perfect for a one night stopover. That mutton chop for dinner was a welcome winner.
A lovely stay in the karoo. The cottages we stayed in were well appointed and made for a very comfortable overnight stop. Fantastic sunset and amazing skies. If you are interested in staying away from a town or city and find a spot in the middle of the Karoo away from others and noise then this is an excellent option. Fabulous service too.
See stars.
Friendly reception, neat and clean accommodation in a quiet and rural environment. Balm for the soul for tired city jays on the go. What more could one ask for? This was our second visit and we will choose this option again. Just a pity we couldn't stay another day.
We very much enjoyed our stay. Lovely peaceful environment. One night wasn't enough!
Beautiful Karoo area.
Warm welcome. Good food and value for money.
Neat accommodation and real Karoo hospitality with delicious Karoo choppie.
We had a lovely peaceful experience. Nice dinner, spacious comfortable room and wonderful hospitality. It was the perfect overnight stop on the way to Hartenbos from Pretoria. Would definitely recommend Erin.
We were received very kindly. The place was more than we needed and very neat and clean!
Friendly welcome, adequate equipment, delightful quietness and views!
Our stay was great, impeccably clean and tidy. Slept wonderfully warm on a good bed, electric blanket, hot water bag. Even had a heater. Could have a nice hot bath and shower in large bathroom. Room also very spacious and cozy. Trevor is an excellent host and fantastic cook! Our dogs were safe in the enclosed garden and felt very welcome. Beautiful farm to walk around. Thank you again Trevor "and may God bless you"!
The best pet friendly overnight accommodation we have ever stayed at. So nice and quiet on the farm. Trever went out of his way to accommodate us after our travel arrangements had to change urgently. We will definitely go back.
Erin is still one of the nicest places to stay with our two dogs. The fences around the cottages mean we don't have to keep an eye on the dogs all the time and if we want to have dinner at the main house we can comfortably leave the dogs. Trevor is very friendly. The accommodation is suitable for the Karoo - neat and clean - and the self-catering facilities work well for us.
Erin Farmhouse is a special place to stay. Beautiful location with farm atmosphere. The accommodation was top notch with a delicious dinner! Lovely room with best facilities. Truly only the best. A great 5 star accommodation that I would visit again anytime. (Only bummer was the advertised Wi-Fi didn't work and the owner didn't mind either - I was counting on it being available for something I needed to do).
Being the only guests for the night made for a very peaceful stay over. Trevor the host even contacted us on the day while on the road whether we would like any dinner. Orders were arranged and the meal was served in our own surrounding lounge and very delicious. If you are a "bird watcher " then it is for you as well as there is enough birding activity around the property. Room, bathroom and lounge were very clean as well as the rest of the accommodation available. Thank you for your kind hospitality.
Hospitality unique to the Karoo.
Ideal "stop-over" on the way to Garden Route. We felt welcome and rested wonderfully. I would definitely recommend. Also pet friendly, so our Labrador had a great stay too!
Erin is the first animal-friendly accommodation that has a fenced yard where my dogs could run free. So we all could relax wonderfully on the farm with the necessary facilities to satisfy the whole family.
The place was beautiful and well equipped. Neat and clean.
Ideal accommodation for a family with pets. The open-plan layout may be an issue for families with teenaged children, but it was perfect for us. Delicious meals and definitely worth it. Warm and friendly reception, you feel at home immediatley. The location is ideal for an overnight stay if you travel from the Cape to Gauteng, off the N9 (and traffic noise isn't an issue at all). Quiet and peaceful and the little house is well equipped.
On arrival we were welcomed by Trevor and our accommodation was truly fantastic. This is definitely the place to stay for one night on your way to Gauteng. Really fantastic.
Had a wonderful stay, the accommodation was clean and quaint. Trevor was very welcoming and accommodating. My children and my dog had a fabulous time. The Karoo lamb chops were the best I have ever eaten.
We had a quick stopover for one night at Erin between George and Joburg. Trevor was very very friendly and made us feel at home. Our cottage was excellently equipped and very comfortable. Aircon would have been nice but I think the ceiling fan helped at least after sundown. The kids enjoyed the farm environment and immediately made themselves at home. Definitely good value for money and we will stay there again in the future.
Very basic accommodation. Not all rooms have refrigerators or kitchen facilities. Confirm ahead of time.
Pleasant, quiet and tidy. Delicious dinner enjoyed in the Barnyard. Trevor went out of his way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Could go for a nice walk in the dusk on the farm.
We only stayed for one night. The host was pleasant and friendly, despite the fact that we arrived late at night. The facilities were also very pleasant. We left early again the next morning, but wish we could have stayed longer.
Very neat, friendly reception. Recommended.
We had a very nice stay. Well equipped room. Neat and clean. Very calm and quiet.
We were warmly welcomed by Trevor and Cathy who are wonderful hosts. Accommodation was very clean and neat and we could unwind after a long day on the road. Delicious meals with real, home-baked bread and barbecued Karoo lamb chops waited for us. Unbelievable view. Would definitely recommend them as a destination.
We were received very friendly and hospitable. It is very neat and clean, well furnished. I would recommend it.
The personal attention from the owner is a massive bonus. He and his wife makes one feel at home and the beautiful farmhouse contributes to the unique experience. We would like to stay there again.
Trevor is a very pleasant host. We really enjoyed the farm atmosphere and went for a lovely walk in the field. Appreciate that Erin Country House is pet friendly.
The way in which the owner describes the guest farm is honest and sincere. He called us before arrival and again the next day to wish us a good trip. The preparations for our arrival were excellent, the room and surroundings very neat and well cared for. Trevor, as a restaurateur, dinner was excellent value for money.
It was perfect for what we wanted. I would advise that they might look into purchasing a TV as well.
The only problem was the directions.
See the stars.
Good stay and friendly.
See the stars.
The animals are beautiful. It's a lovely place to stay the night. The kids can ride bikes and the dogs can run to stretch their legs after a day in the car. Beautiful sunsets! Accommodation very comfortable and owner friendly and helpful.
Trevor, the owner, was wonderful and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The facilities were extremely clean and tidy and we couldn't have asked for more.
Trevor was very helpful and followed up and got back to a human. The farm is quiet and is ideal for an overnight destination on the way to the coast. It is very good value for money and will definitely visit the destination again in the future.
Quiet and perfectly located, neat, clean and hospitable.
Clean, good value for money
Everything was in place and very tidy. Would recommend Erin.
Owners were not at home when we arrived, although we were kindly received. Unfortunately there was no dinner or at least breakfast, and after a long journey one does not feel like driving back to town. We were booked into one of the outside cabins. Ambiance and view limited.
The accommodation was clean and Trevor was very friendly. Just sorry I didn't receive the accommodation I booked. I booked the "Farm Cottage" and was seated in the big house, there was no TV or radio either. All four of us had to sleep in one room where in the "cottage" we would have separate rooms.
Friendly reception, very helpful, clean and tidy. Facilities somewhat cramped and basic, no air conditioning.
Friendly host and wife, clean and fresh bedding, spacious family room with private shower. Nice porch with table and couch in front of room under canopy. All nice and private. Will definitely stay there again, and book a meal next time too.
An incredible overnight experience in the Karoo! Will definitely use Erin Country House's facilities again.
Great overnight stay. Would go again, even though it's winter there is enough provision with electric blankets, hot water bottles and a heater.
Great comfortable and well appointed accommodation in a real Karoo Farm environment. Trevor is a very welcoming host that certainly understands the requirements of the hospitality game. Breakfast was first class as was our braai on the farm the previous evening. We mistakenly left an item of value behind and this was no problem for Trevor to put in safe keeping until we could collect it, a nice change in the world we live in. I would certainly recommend Erin Country House for an overnight stay.
Remote & peaceful in beautiful surroundings!!
Quiet, peaceful and delicious food. Could enjoy cycling and walking. Nice farm experience.
Clean, tidy, hospitable and good overnight stay.
Thanks to Trevor for all the good food, jokes and hospitality. Kathy makes the best marshmallow pudding ever!
Trevor is a very good host! Warm welcome, and really friendly with the children. Calm and peaceful setting - an oasis in the Karoo! Would recommend to anyone with a smile!
As Natallers, we got terribly cold that time of year there, but the owner received us so well and made us feel really at home, It felt like we were at our own home! We would recommend it to anyone anytime.
Clean and quiet and very good service from Trevor!
We slept well and peacefully, and will visit the place again.
Environment is perfect, rooms were very well appointed and up to standard. Maybe pay some attention to the "catering" aspect. Expected more from dinner and breakfast.
The TV only had one channel (SABC 2).
