I loved the flexibility of the hosts as and when my needs changed and how they were able to accommodate me. I found Abuti Abby to be very friendly and helpful. He goes the extra mile. He was willing to even help carry our luggage as I was helping my blind mother get to the room.
We had a great stay, thank you! The roads to Brits, however, are a nightmare - in places you coo for the bits of tar that are left. It's not Esmarline's fault, but it detracts from them being a beautiful place to stay! Esmarline bent over backwards for us, and the hospitality was warm and genuine - thank you very much. There is plenty of secure parking and it's a beautiful setting!
Accommodation was perfect for our needs. Just would like ceiling fans in the rooms.
Morning - some urgent maintenance is required - the wall behind the stove is dirty (the entire wall needs a good wash), no breadboard to cut bread, the fireplace outside needs attention, as when the wind is blowing, all the ash was blown onto us. The middle bedroom has major wall cracks and a large amount of floor tiles are also cracked - it seems like structural issues. No mirrors within the bedrooms (except the main bedroom), blowing hair is done in the sitting room when the bathroom is occupied. The fridge needs shelves (a minimum of one) to separate the food from each other. The shower leaks at the top where the shower head comes from the wall and mould was noticed by the shower against the cornices and ceiling. The middle room bed leg gave in on Saturday evening, which resulted in my mum sleeping downhill as we did not have any other beds available. Both small bedrooms have no facility to hang any clothing.
Positive: Abe was competent and did his best for us without being provided with everything he would need. Rooms are spacious and tidy. Aircon great in the heat. Pool area very nice. Strong Wi-Fi. Negative: Shower head in Room 1 was so dirty and clogged. There was no regular tea in our rooms, no glasses for water. Abe got hold of tea somewhere, I think it was from his house. If you pay 800 pp sharing, then breakfast must be included, even if it is only continental. This is standard for this price at most places. There is too much noise late at night when other guests are visiting.
Photos misleading. Faucets were loose. The bath/jacuzzi/shower unit is stained inside and also the shower head is whitewashed. Can't turn on bedside lights at all. Garden chairs outside are rusted and neglected. Chef was very friendly.
Maybe find a solution to keep guests satisfied during loadshedding.

There is no fault with the rooms and premises. The rooms are neat and beautifully clean. The staff received us kindly. What you get is definitely not worth R1600 per room. The rooms are smaller than they appear in the photos. The price does not include breakfast. If the amount one pays is half the price, it is 10/10 accommodation. . One more thing: The rooms are in a house shared with other guests. If you have inconsiderate guests who slam doors and whose children run down the corridors early in the morning, this is very inconvenient. We do realize this is beyond the Lodge's control and not their fault.

It looks to me like a weekend drop-off for government officials who bring companions for the weekend. I would not recommend the place. I am willing to pay more for a better lodge.

Very nice stay. Everything clean and tidy. Will stay again if we are in the area.
Group of people hung out until 10pm. Would have been acceptable if we had been informed about it in advance. (We went with the intention of experiencing tranquility). At 6:30 am the next morning the peace was disturbed by loud voices. The microwave is in terrible condition.

We stayed as a family as we were attending a wedding in the area. Very neat and clean, very well equipped and the service is exceptional. Abe, the manager, is a gem. He goes out of his way to make everything easy and comfortable. Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend.
Lovely large lawn and swimming pool.
I was the only person in the lodge for the night I slept over. They were still willing to prepare dinner for me. I didn't feel unsafe for a single moment and would definitely stay there again.
Quiet Lodge, with pool. Could pay some attention to cleaning the bathrooms, there were cobwebs and spiders in the shower.

There were noisy neighbors making noise in the middle of the night. Apart from this, the stay was pleasant.
Would have liked a small fridge in the room to keep the water cold, half ply toilet paper doesn't work either.
The facility is not a lodge, the accommodation is farm buildings converted into accommodation. No view as it was an enclosed porch, location does not offer any of the activities as advertised, must check with adjacent resorts for any activities. Neither the accommodation nor the farm yard attracts attention and was more of a nuisance than anything else. Although the accommodation was clean and tidy inside, the layout and location is definitely not worth the money. No complete DStv channels such as sport. If you want to use bar facilities you must contact the "Manager" via WhatsApp, it is not an open and running bar.

The lodge is just outside the town which makes it very peaceful. The room was also very nice and the pool area as well. Good value for money.
Was warmly received and had a good night's rest. Might just recommend they keep a bottle or two of clean water in the fridge. Breakfast was delicious and punctual. Well done.
We stayed here one Saturday night for a wedding in the Brits area, and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly correspondence with the owners, the cleanliness of the facilities and the reasonable rates. The room is clean and relatively minimalistic, the air conditioning works like a bomb and we were treated to chocolates, cookies, cappuccino sachets, and even a bottle of sparkling wine in the bar fridge upon check-in. Only regret we can't stay a little longer and enjoy the beautiful pool. We are happy to recommend Esmarline Lodge to prospective guests.
Very nice and tidy self-catering accommodation. I might just recommend that the shower heads be checked.
