Estuary Rest ticked all the boxes for us and certainly is a credit to the Knysna hospitality industry. Being centrally situated with a private entrance, we were able to come and go without disturbing anyone whilst taking advantage of the many activities available. The accommodation exceeded all expectations with everything provided for our comfort. The views across the lagoon from sunrise to sunset (and in between) are impressive to say the least and we were able to take some magnificent photographs from the front porch. All in all, Irene and her two lovable companion dogs made us feel completely welcome without being obtrusive in any way. We hope to have the privilege of visiting Estuary Rest again in the future.

A fully equipped room in a quiet but secure area with a lock-up garage for your vehicle. Every morning we had our morning coffee sitting on the porch and overlooking the waterfront, what a way to start our day. With a private entrance we were able to come and go without disturbing anybody. Two lovely dogs, Rocksie and Flynn that always came to greet us on our return but were never a nuisance. Will definitely visit Irene at Estuary Rest again.

Nice view, but too expensive. Walking to town is unrealistic and according to photos, the area is much larger outside the cottage. Not realising it's so close to the main house. Although my husband smoked outside it was nevertheless given the impression that smokers are not welcome!
Irene gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. The unit and the view from the porch was exactly as the photos indicated. The unit was clean and tidy and the two dogs and cat made it feel like you were at home. It's a great relaxing place and it was sheer pleasure to watch the boats on the lake while enjoying a glass of wine and the meat sizzling on the coals. Although the unit is on the same site as the residence, your privacy is respected. Linen and towels were also changed regularly. We will definitely stay there again if we are in the area again. Estuary Rest is for travelers who will be satisfied with basic accommodation under the heading "luxury". The bed is not king size and the mattress was soft. The 'private' porch is semi-private at most...it's in the back yard of the main house where the homeowners' cars are parked and there's a large gathering area. The kitchen cupboards smell musty, and just rinse/wash the champagne glasses before you use them. No air conditioner. If the ad wasn't so misleading, the review would be quite different.
