This rustic home is an interesting eclectic mix of old and new and comprises 2 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 4 guests at a time. The main bedroom has a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, toilet, and basin. The second bedroom has 2 single beds and the second bathroom has a shower, toilet, and basin. Gaze upwards on this top floor, and enjoy the unique, old fashioned, imprinted ceilings.
The kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, fridge, slow cooker, snackwich maker, kettle, crockery, and cutlery. The lounge features a couch, armchairs, and 2 beanbags. A favourite is to relax on the main deck featuring all-weather loungers, an L-shaped couch, a hammock, and a braai.
For guests' entertainment, there is a pool table and table tennis, as well as a selection of board games. The property has 3 decks with beautiful views onto the Little Tugela River, the neighbouring Newhouse Dam, and of the mighty Drakensberg to the west. Guests have access to the whole property of approximately 10 hectares. Enjoy the paddocks, river and the dam behind the house. Otherwise, simply kick back and enjoy the outdoors and country feeling from the decks.
Behind the house is a wetland area with a small dam boasting beautiful water lilies, also home to the famous lily hopper, The African Jacana. An Ethiopian Snipe and a Marabou Stork have also been sighted. This is a great place for bird watching, and the Amur Falcons can be seen swarming from November to April.
The farm has 2 shops including Kwaphakamisa, a factory shop satisfying meat, cheese, and butter needs, as well as the Pig and Plough, a wonderful farm stall with a wrap-around porch where guests can enjoy pizzas, pulled pork, English breakfasts, and much more.

7 guests' feedbackMichelle welcomed us to her home with such warmth. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Eureka. It's a treasure trove full of memories and unique collectables. Definitely recommended.
Our host was super and the "Bohemian" setting on the farm was exciting to stay at. The cottage is fully equipped and very clean. Loved it!
Michelle is an excellent hostess and very helpful. The house is a treasure trove of all her travel experiences and it was truly a privilege to be able to enjoy her personal space. One really felt part of nature and although it is not too far from a road, the traffic was in no way disturbing.
Special home filled with much love and care. Views of the calm dam and the rushing river! Space to reconnect, chill and appreciate one’s surroundings. Owner was amazing and made us feel right at home!
House is only suitable for a family, i.e. couple with children. The upper floor has no ceilings and is therefore open above and no privacy in rooms or bathrooms. We had friends over which really took away the privacy.
Michelle poured her heart and her life into the house, which you can appreciate. Michelle was very nice and helpful. If you like the unusual, the more rustic, very earthy and quite eccentric experience and type of accommodation, then you can consider this. Nice view with the river in front of the house and the dam next to it, but not necessarily a comfortable house. Short stay is acceptable but more than 2 days can get boring with little to do, the big dam is not for use or available, river was too rough to swim in or play. The children really enjoyed the table tennis and snooker. We felt the lounge furniture needed to be replaced / reupholstered, and better bedding provided to provide the necessary comfort elements, especially for the price. And something that makes the rooms smell nice. Blinds for the main room and bathroom would also help with more privacy, as well as maybe consider a door for the room.
