51 guests' feedbackCouldn't ask for a nicer weekend. Everything from the welcome at the gate to the final goodbye was just great! The spa is amazing! The food is incredibly delicious! The "tree and stone ride" was a lot of fun! The visits and new friends from the top shelves! Monica, Andries, Precious. You will surely see us again soon! Thank you!
Was very nice. The bath in the woodland was a treat. Good service. Nice view. Will go again.
Very nice stay, thank you.
Sorry for the shower in the honeymoon suite which is such a flat jet and the TV which was taken out. Furthermore, the service and food were very nice as well as our spa treatment.
Staff was very friendly, the facilities not always open. I would not recommend the day spa. Not enough staff. Waited for therapists the first time. They were behind their schedule. Everything was rushed and we did not get the full hour massage. The second time they did not have two therapists. The cleaning lady was appointed to 'rub'. Just following what the other therapist did. So I paid R350 for a foot rub and R400 for a back, neck, shoulder and head 'rub' NOT a massage by a qualified therapist! The place is not clean and for the price you pay, 1-ply toilet paper is not acceptable. The place has so much potential but unfortunately not recommended.
Absolutely just an experience.
The reception, service and area are definitely top notch.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is excellent. We were lucky to see all the animals on our game drive. Will definitely visit again.
Will definitely use Ezingweni again.
The location in the bush is lovely with abundant peace & quiet. We went into the ablution block at the swimming pool - it hasn't been cleaned in years. We were unable to get basic utensils like a corkscrew. The Spa facilities were awesome and the massage was great. Thoroughly enjoyed the quad drive.
We booked Ezingweni Kudubessie Cottage over the long weekend. Getting the keys for our place was very smooth however the direction signage on the entire property was terrible. They were often misplaced or washed out and it took all of us to find the place with a lot of difficulties. There is not a lot of human contact in terms of "reception" which would be fine if you didn't need any assistance but the place was full of problems. Monica kindly assisted us with emergency lights which, granted, we should have brought with us. Gas burner was offered on the second night. Overall, the price and the pictures felt like we were in for a great trip, however, we were very disappointed with the state in which the property was found. It's clear that this lodge was at its prime at some point and the pictures try to show that, but it is unfortunately not what we found when we got there. When we took a walkabout around the lodge grounds, we could see in how much of a derelict state it was in places. One of the lodges that we almost booked was in such a state as if no one has come near that structure in years - with almost a ghostly feel. We are presuming this but it looked like the management only cleans up the place before the guests' arrival while leaving it in an abandoned state the rest of the time. We understood that loadshedding is a challenge but at that price point, you expect the basic amenities to be functioning well at least. Most of the appliances in the place looked like they were a throw-away from someone else's house and not even in proper working condition. When we got to our cottage, the refrigerator felt like it was switched on literally 10 mins before our arrival. It was barely cold and as such most of our food was at risk of being spoiled. Thankfully by the next morning, the temperature in the fridge was slightly better, but still not what you expected. Similarly, the stovetop didn't want to start and eventually when it did, it took easily 20 mins just to mildly heat up. The oven on the inside was so incredibly dirty that you have to wonder if the property management even bothers to check these places until they have a booking. When it comes to the pool, it said we could ask beforehand for it to be heated up for extra charge only to be told the day before when we called in that they need at least 3 days to heat the pool. Nowhere in the property guide does it say anything about this. We were told that it was to do with loadshedding, which is understandable if only the property had alerted us to this when they sent the details seeing how loadshedding has been going on for months now even though we moved to stage 6 during the long weekend stay. One of the showers didn't work and was partly rusted around its nozzles and the cottage roof leaked in multiple places when it rained. The second day we ran out of water because apparently, a wedding party used up all the water. We have stayed in some of the strangest backpackers around the world and in countless self-catering lodges in SA. But, when you charge a price such as this with the promise of a well-functioning self-catering unit, you expect at least the basics to be right. This place barely lives up to that promise. Besides the pool - which wasn't of much use given the rain and chilly weather, if we wanted the same experience we had here, we'd have happily booked a bare-basic tented spot in another lodge or pitched our own tent in Pilanesberg camping spot. We are quite surprised with the positive reviews the place has received this year given our experience. As for all of the other activities, there is no game on the property, in fact, you barely even see or hear any birds most of the time which is rather strange. If you are interested in any activities except quad biking, they are all outside of the property. We booked a massage session which was nice even though the treatment took place inside a dark room as the spa area was flooded. We really don't think we'll ever make the mistake of booking this place again or even recommend it to anybody.
Within 2 hours drive from Johannesburg but is in the Bushveld. No TV at residential units, which is very nice. It made the visit so much more special. There is a TV at the restaurant if you are interested. Management was very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Carter who went out of his way to make us feel welcome and for the delicious meals he provided.
Bitterly beautiful, hospitable, neat, quiet, everything just amazing.
Great place and nice people.
Great service, all around although the pool heater wasn't working properly.
The accommodation was a lovely and relaxing experience. We enjoyed the freedom in nature and could enjoy the hills by walking or cycling. The animals were a bit scarce. Watching the rugby in the bar was very nice.
The food at the restaurant is delicious. It's so good that you don't want to go home. Will definitely visit again. Can recommend Ezingweni. One cannot really explain it, apart from discussing and going to see for yourself. Thanks to everyone at Ezingweni for a great time.
The Stamvrug 2 was a good accommodation decision for 2 people, with beautiful views. You don’t really need to leave the lodge for any activities, if you’re looking at doing more extreme things then sure, but they have activities that allow you to unwind and relax. The only issues we had were ants in the shower head and a lot of spiders behind the bed.
Hospitality, good service, spa where you are wonderfully pampered and the restaurant has the most delicious food. The woodland silence gives rest to suspicious city dwellers. Lots of activities for the family and you can't help but enjoy Ezingweni.
Lovely, simple dinner, even though the menu was limited.
Ideal for a weekend getaway with our married children. Appreciated the quiet, the place's hot pool is a plus. Enjoyed game drives and quadbikes with Andries. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the spa too! Will definitely visit again!
Furthermore, the spa, people place was very nice, and we enjoyed it a lot.
Spa was amazing. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
Maybe just a table can be built at the braai place to put what you need at the braai. Now everything must be put on the ground. The light on the kitchen area is very poor, can't really see if you are trying to make something. The oven needs a service, because the knobs are already spinning. These are just suggestions, otherwise everything was great. Thank you.
Very quiet, fast service.
The game farm has enough to keep you busy, but you can also just relax and enjoy nature. The units are very cute from yellow. The spa is breathtakingly beautiful and the therapists know what they are doing. The restaurant's food is great and their people very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would have liked to stay longer.
Very friendly staff - really appreciated.
We had an awesome stay. Nice and peaceful and surroundings were so beautiful and accommodation was perfect for us. Only thing you need is more paths to go and walk in the bush and maybe put in some ceiling fans in the units.
Stamvrug 2, would definitely recommend for relaxation, hot tub on deck overlooking woodland, indescribable. Cutest braai place!
Very beautiful and peaceful place in the heart of the Bosveld. Very friendly and helpful staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend!
Neat accommodation and restaurant.
No TV as advertised for rugby fanatics. Missed the rugby. Very limited menu at restaurant. Food was delicious tough. Overpriced for what you get. Enjoyed quads and game drive, however waste of money as there is no game to be seen!
It really has been absolutely fantastic since we landed. Good service. Private and very neat and stylish.
My partner and I decided on a last minute getaway and came across this lovely lodge. Although very basic, it has everything you could need and is exactly what we wanted - quiet serenity away from people. Carter and Lennon at the restaurant and bar are absolutely fantastic hosts and ensured we were well taken care of. Although the menu is extremely limited, that being said, it is predominantly self catering, so limited menu options are understandable, the food is excellently prepared by Carter and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We are already planning our next 2 visits to the lodge - one with the kids and another without!
Very nice. Prices of activities just very high.
The staff is very friendly, clean, very kind. Service is good. Actually everything is up to standard. 10/10.
See stars.
One of the few places I've experienced where accommodation and amenities look like the website. Reservations for game drive, splash pool heating and spa without any problems. Monica very helpful. Service in pub, restaurant and game drive excellent. Really enjoyed everything. Will definitely return. Beautiful scenery on game drive.
The service was great and the staff were friendly.
It was just what the ladies needed.
The weekend was very nice. Very quiet in the forest with very good service from the lodge. Will recommend it to other people.
We decided on Ezingweni Safari Lodge and Day Bush Spa for a weekend getaway. The professional service we received at the lodge, as well as the spa, was top notch! It's a delicious, affordable getaway that we recommend to all our friends.
Had no view from our deck, the trees right in front of the room cover any view. The petting zoo only had 2 ponies in with a sheep and 1 goat, disappointing. Only saw 2 giraffes and 2 impalas. The quad bikes were out of order. I would really recommend giving guests more to do.
If they could make you feel welcome on arrival it would make a huge difference as we were lost in the bush! No hot water in outside tub so in winter not a good idea to bath ─ rather take a shower. Food and service at restaurant was really not worth the money.
The roads leading to the house was not quite suitable for a normal car - would recommend an SUV or something with a high clearance.
Petting zoo only has 2 horses, a goat and a sheep. Units well equipped, they can occasionally wipe down the cabinets for cobwebs. Reception man is very helpful. Spa staff from Sunday 20th April were very helpful and friendly!
Security compromised by a lack of communication once in the resort. No cellphone network with all major providers.
Everything was top notch, but frankly the "game drive" was extremely poor. No animals seen and the whole ride was just uncomfortable. Not worth the money at all.
Our room's view was really nice, but that's the only positive. The person who had to prepare our food at the restaurant was not very impressed with it and we felt unwelcome. The food was poor and the restaurant is very dirty, there are cats eating off people's plates as soon as you get up. We could tell that someone had been in the room because the dishes were clean, but otherwise nothing had been done. Towels left just like that and the bed I made was not neatly made. For the price we expected much more, at least a neat room and a fridge that works.
The road is very poor for a car, except if you have a 4x4. The braai area is very small and not really accessible with the staircase which is not at all up to the standard building methods. One would almost break an ankle to get to the bottom in the dark. The braai grill is also broken. There is a notice: "Quench all fires before leaving the premises". My question is: how do I do this? The braai wood is very poor quality at that price and can barely braai a piece of steak. The railings at the sliding door to the house are no longer there. One struggles to get the door open. The bubble bath has to be switched on and off by the pump, since the switch on the bath itself doesn't work, so the chances of getting an electric shock is big and the overflow is missing. There is simply a hole where it should've been. At this price, one expects aircon, not a small fan that sounds like a tractor, and doesn't really cool anything.
