Our cottage was available even though we came earlier. They cleared out their own packroom to store our bicycles and gave us the key for security reasons. Our hosts were so inviting. The lounge area was updated from the photos - such a warm, cosy place close by to everything. When we visit Clarens again, we will be using Fairview Cottages!

Fairview Cottages is well located in a quiet and peaceful environment and with a beautiful view of nature and mountains. It is close and within walking distance of the restaurants and shops. I love photography and there are many photo opportunities with the beautiful nature and the autumn colors were a bonus for photography.

Fairview Cottages is also extremely centrally located and we didn't need our vehicle once during our visit - we were able to walk into town centre. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Fairview cottages so much that we extended our stay by another night. The cottages were well equipment with everything we might need and more. The cottages are a few hundred meters from the Clarens square where the most amazing restaurants and shops are. Our hosts George and Brenda were amazing and super helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend everyone stays here when visiting Clarens.

From the sofa on the veranda we could admire the beautiful scenery. With the sound of the stream a few meters away, it creates a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere in which to relax. We also enjoyed the hiking trail which was beautiful, and even I with my round unfit body could enjoy it. Looking forward to being able to relax there again soon.

Ons was hartelik verwelkom toe ons daar gearriveer het. Die Eagle View Cottage is soveel mooier as in die foto's. Daai atmosfeer wat die groot vensterdeure bied sodat mens in die bed kan lê en op die berg kyk. Warm komberse klaar op die bed vir die koue aande was regtig 'n pluspunt. Die badkamer was net so mooi met die mountain view reg rondom. Alles wat ons moontlik kon voor vra, was reeds klaar daar. Sy het ekstra moeite gedoen om vir ons plunger coffee saam met die gewone kitskoffie te sit. Dit was stil. Ons kon in die tuin stap. Dis slegs 'n paar tree dan is jy by die 1ste restaurante. Ons sal definitief weer by Fairview Cotages tuis gaan.

Fairview Cottage is sure to be a treat and a place to return to. We were kindly received by Brenda and George and felt like part of the family. We could visit comfortably on our own porch. The place is also well equipped for the cold and the panel heater and electric blanket kept us nice and cozy through the winter cold. Our place is beautifully decorated and the facilities are of high quality. Fairview Cottages certainly offers good value for money.

The location of Fairview Cottages makes it easy to walk where you want to be. Although the Garden Cottage is very small with limited space, it was well equipped and functional. George was very friendly and his knowledge of the area and history of the town was very informative. We soon switched off and the few days in Clarens were a highlight for the month. We will definitely consider Fairview Cottages again on a next visit.

Eagle's View, the unit Brenda upgraded us to, is very neat and comfortable and can comfortably accommodate 4 people. The view is one of the best in Clarens. It's an open plan unit with a full bathroom and tiled floors throughout. The open plan layout with tiled floors means that the unit is very cold in winter - we were in the unit on the nights of 17 and 18 June 2019. The double bed has an electric blanket, which helps with the night chill. There is a fireplace in the unit, but wood is not provided. There is one panel heater and a free standing oil heater. Unfortunately, the oil heater repeatedly kicked out the power because it draws quite a bit of power. The panel heater alone is not enough to heat the unit. A solution would be to install air conditioning. The Eagle's View unit compares well with other more luxurious accommodation in Clarens where I have stayed, and I can definitely recommend it as a summer accommodation.

Had a great stay. The Titanic room was neat and clean and met our requirements. I would perhaps just suggest to also only provide salt and pepper. Otherwise we can't complain. Will definitely use them again.
Very nice location. Neat and tasteful. Safe with convenient parking. The reception was unfortunately not well coordinated and we were initially put in the wrong unit with luggage and all. Refrigerator in unit was very noisy and disturbed sleep.

Lovely apartment with a beautiful view in a cosy town.
Eagle's View is an oasis after a long day on the road. Beautiful room with pretty view in a safe area with secure parking, hospitable host and hostess. Will definitely make it our regular stop in Clarens. Only criticism, the double bed is a little bit cramped when you are used to an extra-length king-size bed, which is quite necessary when your husband is 2m tall, but the sofa does not sleep too badly.

We had a great time staying at Fairview. We rented out 2 rooms for the long weekend. The cottages are right next to all the restaurants and shops. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and tidy and the Eagles view room is wonderfully large with a balcony with a stunning view of the mountains. The owners are also very friendly and gave us good advice on restaurants to check out.
Five stars and the photos doesn't do justice to how ideal and idyllic this place is. 100 m from the city centre, within walking distance, but also far enough that one can fully experience the peace and scenic beauty! The view cannot be described! If your drinking coffee on the porch or enjoying a glass of wine - it's the best feeling ever!

We really enjoyed the clean, quiet, well-appointed room, the friendly service - help with luggage, advice on what to see and where and what to do. Sitting on the stoep with a glass of wine, taking in the glorious scenery was wonderful. Walks through the small town, the art galleries and along the mountain base was also wonderful. In short: A wonderful break. The only bad was the drive back in heavy fog!

We enjoyed our stay at Fairview Cottages. We had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. There was even an electric blanket for the cold nights and it does get very cold! The unit was clean and comfortable with a good mattress, lovely large balcony and beautiful views. There was coffee, tea, sugar, but unfortunately the milk left in the fridge was sour. However, we have no complaints and really had a good time. The stairs on the side of the building leading up to the Eagles View unit was a bit challenging for my 84 year old mother, being steel stairs and quite steep, but we managed alright. Al lot of attention was given to detail. We will definitely make use of your cottages again in future.

The owners were friendly and helpful; and the apartment was very well equipped for self-catering. I arranged the stay as a present for my parents and they were very impressed. I would love to visit Fairview Cottages myself next time (and maybe test the fireplace a bit!).
We stayed in Titanic View, it's so private, clean and perfect for a weekend getaway for two. The walking distance to the town square just makes everything easier, because it can get quite busy and you have to struggle with parking. Clarens and Fair View will definitely see us again soon, it was really lovely! Owners are both also very hospitable, it's like they say, if you're holidaying in a strange town, ask the ''locals'' and they'll tell you all the secrets of the town - from Golden Gate routes to a beautiful path along the creek to the dam for walkers.

The unit was clean, modern furnishings and bathroom. The owners were thoughtful enough to place dvd’s, magazines and books in the room for rainy day weather. George gave us a brief history of the town and was very hospitable! We have stayed at many placed in Clarens before, won’t return to any of them except Fairview!

We slept in Eagle's View. Nice view, very nice. Everything you need is there, and the management gave very good advice for places to eat and things to do. Only one thing was bad, and that was the fact that we couldn't sleep well the 2nd night. I sleep lightly, and there had been a strong wind. The wind itself didn't bother, but there were branches that kept scraping over the canopies. It wouldn't necessarily bother other people, but for me it was a bit of a problem. When the wind did stop I slept very well. Would definitely recommend the place. Really Leaky!

The guesthouse is in a neighbourhood where the view from the back yard really didn't look good. We found hair on the floor and bedding. The neighbours' cockerels woke us up every morning very early around 4:00 and then every half an hour after that. It was extremely unpleasant. Apart from that the people were very hospitable and friendly.

He also called us the morning of our arrival and let us know that everything was ready for our arrival. He was always available should we have any problems or questions, e.g. when the power went out he was quick to help us get things up and running again. We had to go for a wedding and always wanted to come to Clarens. The place is very cute with everything you need. Walking distance to village. All I would suggest is a light at the gate for the evening. We had to get back from a wedding late and it was very dark.

Clean and tidy accommodation - close to all attractions.
One tends to underestimate the accommodation but only when one has been there can you share your experience and thus recommend it and this was exactly the case with us and the accommodation exceeded our wildest expectations. We intend to go to Clarena more often in the future and stay at Fairview Cottages.
On the positive side: friendly reception, the unit was clean, there was coffee, tea and milk there to make something to drink on arrival. Something that was unusual was that we got a discount for our long stay. It was not necessary. Should it have compensated for something? But, unfortunately, there were also a few snags. We only became aware at a late stage that there were only SABC TV channels available. If we were to cancel then it would have been accompanied by a financial loss for us. Looking at the description on the web page, this was not obvious. Honestly, there is a moral obligation on the owners to highlight their somewhat sub-standard amenities when the quote is sent out. The thought that one would be able to watch rugby at a sports bar was also just a thought, because they only showed the SA matches. It was advertised as a self-catering unit, but the small fridge was really inadequate. It was known how long we would stay (6 nights) and therefore it went without saying that we would bring frozen food. We also couldn't buy ice because we couldn't keep it anywhere. It would have been nice if there were small plates, a normal size cutting board and a bread knife. Apart from a hand-broom and shovel, there was nothing available to clean the unit with. There was also no cleaning service. Normally, one does not have to get by with one single set of towels for 6 nights. There is a fundamental safety problem with the electricity kicking off because the earth leakage 'trips'. This appears to be a known problem as there is a notice on it that the switchboard is in the lower unit. It's really not a comfortable situation if the people in the lower unit are not part of your own holiday group.
Although I made the reservations, my sister and hubby stayed there. It was spacious, clean and very quiet.
The cottage is located on a nice side of Van Zylstraat with views of the mountains through the windows. The garden is quiet and beautiful and the kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering purposes. The entire interior is nicely decorated and the young couple who hosted us were very friendly, considerate and professional.
