"Potential, but comes with some problems."

We were 4 family members who wanted to get away for a weekend and decided on this house. The house was well furnished and could be a nice getaway. However, there were also a few "issues" that soured the weekend a bit. PROS: It's a nice spacious house and is well furnished. The bedding is of good quality. The yard is large and fully fenced, so it's ideal for a weekend with your dogs. The visiting area is very nice, with a braai pit, large "picnic bench" and cement "splashpool" for cooling off. CONS: The directions provided by the owners were extremely inadequate. I drove around in the dark for an hour looking for the house because the "pin" took me on another farm route with no way to get home. I suggest that the owners send the pin from the tarmac (before the farm road starts) and then clear directions of how to get from the tarmac to the house. The owners expected us to pick up the keys to the house from the neighboring farm. We happened to get the key from one of the workers who was still hanging around the farm after hours. You actually expect the host/hostess to at least leave the house key for you in an easy place (that is if they don't come to open the house for you themselves). The first night there was no hot water, seeing that the water pump was off and the water pressure was not strong enough to activate the gas geyser. One could not bathe either, because the plug does not seal the bath sufficiently and the water runs out faster than it enters. These are the types of things any host/hostess should check before hosting people. The coffee and sugar pots that were intended for the guests were so old that they were rock hard and had already clotted. Totally unacceptable. We understand this is a farm and a farm has insects, but the flies were so bad that you couldn't sleep and the flies kept us awake all night. Just some "fly catcher" or something similar would have shown that the owners care. It's a very nice holiday home, but at this price there are just too many other places within 2-3 hours from the Cape where you can stay where you will feel more welcome. This one unfortunately left a bitter taste.

Very nice stay. Difficulty at first because GPS goes to the wrong farm. Owner was very helpful. The accommodation had all the elements we were looking for and more, thatched house, comfort, quiet. You don't hear or see any traffic, view of the mountains. Wonderful.
