Set on 52-acres of Dargle farmlands, this lovely 1940s dolerite stone and thatch home is ideal for large groups of people and families. Rebuilt during the second World War, the house was initially used as an agricultural college.
The farmhouse can accommodate up to 15 guests and contains 6 lovely bedrooms. The master bedroom contains a super-king-size bed, and the other 5 bedrooms each contain an extra-length queen-size bed. There are also 3 single beds for children and a travel cot for babies or toddlers. Each bedroom has electric blankets on the main beds, wardrobe space, and a fan to cool you off in the summer. The bedrooms share 3 bathrooms. The master bathroom is en-suite and contains a shower and bath. The large middle family bathroom has only a bath but plenty of space. The bathroom convenient to the living areas has a shower and a bath, plus a separate toilet.
The lovely large lounge features real Oregon pine floors and a large stone fireplace featuring a wood-burning stove for those chilly Midlands winter nights. The dining room features a simply enormous table for eating at, and which is also a billiards, pool and snooker table. The kitchen has a further 6-seater table for eating at and its own pantry and server, so it’s perfect for large groups and families to congregate and cook in together. The old school verandah, which runs the length of the house, is now a series of open passages where you can sit and read or browse the photos of days gone by. Sit out or dine in the courtyard garden, or peruse the larger private gardens at your leisure.
Relax in the rather expansive acre-large private gardens, or use the house as a base for touring the Midlands Meander. Take a walk through the pristine natural forest or head off elsewhere for something to do.

12 guests' feedbackOur weekend at Ferndene Farm was absolutely amazing. Nothing made us more happy than waking up to that lush scenery every morning with those beautiful cows. A big thank you to Philip and Lindsey for our stay.
Ferndene is perfect for a large family reunion. A beautiful historic home with loads of space to accommodate all age groups at the same time. Modern bathrooms and fresh white linen on big comfortable beds. We loved every minute of our stay.
Our stay was exactly what my family needed to just be together, especially after the passing away of a family member. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home. Ferndene Farm is just so beautiful and peaceful.
Ferndene Farm was great and met all our needs for a group of 13. Rooms are spacious with ample bathrooms. Lovely large lawn for young and old to relax. Easy walking routes on the farm. Environment very peaceful and relaxed. Close enough to several places to eat and do things in the area.
Very cosy and warm.
Comfortable big house with everything needed.
We loved our stay, friends and family with young kiddies. Hour away from home, convenient, close to Piggly Wiggly and Nottingham Road. We felt safe, kids ran wild and there was enough room for everyone. Will be going back for sure.
We had a wonderful weekend at Ferndene. The house was very clean and beautiful, hosts were friendly and helpful. It was a great getaway spot.
Outstanding.
Neat accommodation with enough space for a large group of people.
This house is superb value for money! The house is safe, clean and neat. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and well equiped. We were there for a wedding and all of us needed to shower or take a bath at the same time, there were hot water galore! It is located just off Nottinghill road and within reach of al couple of interesting places in the Midlands Meader. We will recomend it to friends and family! This was money well spent!
We will definitely visit there again. Ferndene Farm is a wonderful getaway.
