4 guests' feedbackThe house was perfect for our weekend away with everything we needed. The scenery is breathtaking. The beach is walking distance from the house and we even saw whales from the beach. As we only stayed 2 nights we were only able to tackle a few of the hikes but will definitely be back to explore further.
Particularly beautiful house and natural beauty. We enjoyed every moment. Good WiFi and plenty of wood to grill and make a fireplace with. We were received with great kindness and could ask for help at any time. However, there is no microwave and power is solar powered, which has an impact if you have small children to look after. Otherwise it was an amazingly beautiful setting, would easily go back and even work there for a few days.
Had a great time. The view is special. It is a gem of a place and is fully equipped with everything. David went out of his way to help us when there was a problem. We will definitely go back again.
Fish Eagle Cottage is located in the Wortelgat reserve and has a beautiful setting on the bank of the Klein River lagoon with its own private beach. A deck, overlooking the beach and lagoon, is a great place for sundowners. The cottage is surrounded by ancient milkwood trees and the whole reserve is covered in dense fynbos. There are a number of nice hiking paths. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable with a lovely covered outside braai stoep and an internal fireplace. Free firewood is provided. It is completely off-grid with respect to electricity (i.e. no load shedding) and has a gas stove and gas geyser which guarantees a hot shower for everybody. Notwithstanding the relative isolation of the cottage, there is good cell phone reception and a good Wi-Fi signal. The first four km of the gravel road from Stanford to Wortelgat is currently being converted into a tar road. And finally, Dave (our host) was very helpful and always available. We were five adults and thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Fish Eagle Cottage. Excellent value for money. We will definitely be back.

Fish Eagle Cottage is located within the Walker Bay Conservancy and is part of the Wortelgat Outreach Trust which means it is a location for the tranquil nature-loving community. We ask that there is no loud music or parties in or around the house. We ask that guests conduct themselves in a proper and appreciative way. Additional guests must be arranged for safety reasons and house access. This is also a strictly non-smoking house.Your consideration will be appreciated. Any complaints from people sharing the area will result in an immediate, non-refundable termination of the stay.
