Our power had been off most of the time with Eskom mainline problems. The staff and management communicated everything thoroughly and helped where they could.

A wonderful 3 day stay as part of our honeymoon. The unit is modern, is equipped with everything one needs and even if other units are nearby, the unit is completely private.
Loved this stunning spot with the family. Stunning mountain views, and very peaceful. The accommodation went out of their way to secure the balcony as our 1-year-old was with us and we really appreciated that. The accommodation itself was wonderful as it had everything we needed. It was cleaned daily so we really appreciated the house being cleaned. The cottage is well stocked with almost everything you could need. They even had a generator on during peak periods for load shedding. That was a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend this place. The location was also perfect for us as we wanted to be central but also have that remote feeling which allowed us to see other parts of Knysna that we would not typically have seen on the beaten tourist track. My only drawback is the no wifi. Other than that. This place was perfect.

Based on pictures and the reviews submitted here, we expected Forest Valley to be an amazing experience, but this was not the case. We booked the Lavender, so the review will be based on my experience in the unit. I knew that we were up for a worst experience when we were checking in at the room that is regarded as reception. While there are views, it's a bit difficult to enjoy the views because of the large bush that has grown blocking the views. Cleaning staff does not come on Sundays, even on the days that they are coming they will do the bare minimum. No change of towels for the four days that we were there. The dishwashing liquid supplied to the unit appears to be filled with water. The Nespresso machine is not working, it requires hours to fill a cup. The bath salts provided appeared to be plain salt. The bath and jacuzzi are very old. The jacuzzi water is very old and I recommend not to use it, consider adding your own water if it's possible. I had a rash after using the jacuzzi water, apparently caused by the germ Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The water in the shower does not get to be drained, it's blocked. No WiFi. I stayed at many similarly priced places around the Garden Route and this is by far the worst value for money we have experienced. I truly feel cheated having paid more than R2000 a night. Please note there are some good things that I can not write an essay about, also there are a lot of horrible things that I did not mention above. If you don’t want to spoil your holiday I would very strongly suggest that you not consider Forest Valley.
We stayed here for 2 days of our honeymoon and had an amazing time! Very luxurious, great views, and nice and quiet. Would recommend to anyone!
Lavender moon, we came to spend our partial honeymoon here. Beautiful neat accommodation, most beautiful view. Luckily we had good weather so we could enjoy the outdoor Jacuzzi, very relaxing. The hiking trail is also a must. Excellent service and quick to help if needed, will come again and try one of the other cottages too.

If you enjoy the forest, this place is for you. Each cottages has an incredible view of the valley! They are very clean and provide ample space to relax and unwind. The area has a ton to do and great restaurants to try out. One of our favourite stops on our honeymoon!
We had a lovely stay at Forest Valley Cottages. It is perfectly located, peaceful and quiet, but close enough to Knysna should you need something from the shop. You can cycle and walk - perfect for outdoor activities. The cottage is small, but you have everything you need. It is private and the neighbours don't bother you. Definitely value for money.
The view and location are beautiful, but not necessarily worth the price. The kitchen in particular was old and neglected. It needs some work. For the price per night one would only expect luxury in all rooms.

We had an amazing stay in the Blue Sky Cottage. Every part of our cottage's kitchen, bathroom, living area and sleeping area was beautiful, newly done, modern and had a luxurious feel. Even the gas braai was top of its range. The view is breathtaking and the outdoor spa bath was the biggest, nicest treat. We only stayed one night, but immediately asked if we could just stay there for the rest of the long weekend (it was booked well in advance of course - so we'll definitely be going back soon for the full weekend experience).

Forrest Valley Cottages I really recommend. It has a beautiful view from the veranda as well as from the bath and outside shower. The best of all is the fireplace in the cottage.

In nature, it can smell when you are outside. Nice view and house very comfortable. Really enjoyed hot tub outside. Although it is outside Knysna, it is still close enough to get to all the attractions.
It's a bit out of the way, but the privacy, view and birdsong in the morning are wonderful to wake up to. You just have to make sure you take everything you want to eat with you, because it's a bit of a drive back to Knysna if you forgot something.
We will certainly stay there again.

Place to enjoy and relax.
Due to a terrible storm and rain, we spent the majority of the weekend without power. However, I must say that the caretaker, Feston, did everything in his power to sort out the problem, and still made our stay as pleasant as possible. Because of car trouble we just wanted to pack up and go home on Saturday, but when we got to the cottage, Feston put so much effort into lighting the fireplace and getting the Jacuzzi going that we decided to stay, and we really enjoyed the last night. Would love to go back in the summer.
It feels like you're in another world, but Knysna is just 15 km away. The ideal place to kick back and forget about everything that's bothering you for a moment.

Nothing can beat the view! Jacuzzi on the deck overlooking the scenery was breathtaking, peaceful and beautiful. One realizes again what a beautiful country one lives in and how beautiful the area in the Southern Cape is. Fireplace in the evening with a nice glass of red wine and loved ones was a blessing!

The house is very neat and well furnished. It has the perfect location in the woods, away from all the noise outside. Here you find yourself, and can switch off from the hustle and bustle of life out there. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi bath so much (we live in the Cape so a bath is something we can no longer enjoy every day! Haha.) The cottage is fully equipped with everything you will need. Nice swimming in the pool. Service was very friendly. Only the outside light on the porch that didn't work. And paying R50 for a bag of charcoal is a bit against my principles. I just wanted some sausages seared and warmed up.
The view was beautiful and we enjoyed the Jacuzzi a lot. Would just like to propose table mats or a cloth en champagne glasses. Otherwise everything was truly wonderful!

We had a lovely stay and could relax well. The facilities are all of good quality and the atmosphere is very quiet with the song of birds as background music.
Lie in the bath and watch the full moon or the sun rise. Or sit on the porch with a coffee in hand. Anyway, the view is amazing and we really had a great time relaxing. The living room is nice and warm with the fireplace, but the room and bathroom are freezing cold in the winter, maybe just take a gas heater with you, or jump in the hot tub very quickly. Well equipped and clean and tidy. Oh yeah, and remember cash if you want to buy wood.

Wild Iris was stunning!
It was a great experience to basically stay inside the forest and the hot tub was lovely. Even though the cottage is quiet and secluded, it is close enough to Knysna if you do have the need for shopping. The owner was very accommodating with our very late arrival due to flight problems.
We stayed for 4 nights in Hillside cottage with our 3 young daughters. We absolutely adored staying there! It was very tranquil, and beautifully decorated. The beds were all very good and the outside shower was a real pleasure in the mornings. The kitchen had everything we needed, even an oven! And we baked our own bread on a stick on the fire outside. It was a fantastic weekend in beautiful Knysna.

Wow! We don't have enough words to describe this gem. From arrival to departure we were left speechless about hou pretty the place is. Private, romantic, stylish and in nature. Had a lot of fun with the monkeys who watched us. Would definitely recommend it and can't wait to take my kids with the next time. It was an awesome getaway which fitted our budgets.
My partner and I wanted quiet with a nice view as well as novels, we experienced all that and more at Forest Valley. Mark helped us at any time of the evening. When we drove away it was so sad. After all the silence, you experience the journey on the road again. It was an experience and would recommend anyone to stay there. We also went to visit a place nearby. The name is Riverdeck. It looks like the Bahamas with all the banana trees as well as Goukamma River where you can also ride kayaks, canoes and paddle boats. Thank you very much for everything.
Had an amazing stay. We asked for an early check-in which was happily accommodated, and got a call from the host to find out if all was comfortable with our stay on the first day. It is a very social home-away-from-home, with upmarket fixtures and features, and all very comfortable. The pit fire was a winner!
Forest Valley is the perfect destination to break away and relax in the peace and quiet of the forest. The view is beautiful! Fully equipped and very good service. Also close to surrounding hiking trails and Knysna itself.

We had a wonderful stay, enjoyed the peace, tranquility and amazing views. Despite being prepared to find some creepy crawlies in the unit, we had none. The unit was clean and suited our needs, we even had a visit from a Vervet Monkey one morning out by the deck. Would suggest repairing the sliding door frames which appear to be a bit loose. Otherwise we loved it there and all our friends are loving the pictures we took.
Not really value for money per night. Everything was neat but the impression (also at reception) is that everything (the access road, buildings, water input) needs attention. We were without water for the second night from 20:00 until our departure at 10:00 the next day. I think there is better accommodation for the price in the area and it is difficult to recommend Forest Valley for the current price.
The accommodation setup is very cute and tidy, beautiful view over the forest and the location is very convenient and not too far from Knysna. It is very peaceful and quite private and ideal for a nice quiet weekend away. We did find the cottage particularly and uncomfortably hot, so that in the end we could not relax and sleep as we would have liked, but instead went exploring the area and Knysna to escape the heat. In the evenings it cools down a little, but it is difficult in the summer to sit comfortably with the doors open in the evening and visit with all the bugs (for which we have prepared ourselves well) that they themselves then invite to the light. The cottage could certainly do with an air conditioner (the fan just blows the hot air around) and would have definitely changed our experience and made us perhaps return in the future. I would only recommend the Forest Valley if insulation or air conditioning is purchased in the units so that one can get more value for money by being able to fully enjoy the place for the price you pay.
The views 100%. I would have recommended the place if they would have aircon in the room. It was 40 outside and couldn't live in the place. Had to be out from 11 to 8 because it was too hot. Customer service is not too great. They don't work on holidays. Furniture is old, no privacy due to a sliding door that has no blind to the road side. It was a very nice place to be in the winter.
We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit Forest Valley Cottages again in the future.

We visited Forest Valley for our honeymoon and our first comment was how bitterly beautiful it is. The cottage was fully equipped and there was NOTHING we could ask for extra. The owner, Mark, is very pleasant and helpful. I am very sorry that we only stayed two nights. I would have loved to have spent the whole honeymoon there. I will definitely return again and again. It's a MUST!

The fireplace and spa bath were the biggest treat not to mention the beautiful view! Hot tub with a crackling log fire while watching the moon rise over the treetops! Fantastic! Conveniently close to Knysna, safe and very convenient. Mark also accommodated my little girl at late notice with a comfortable bed next to the fireplace. Clean, tidy with everything you need, so private, a real getaway for 2 and close enough you'd want to find a nice restaurant! A delicious spa bath massaged our aching muscles after the Knysna Forest Run while we looked out over the treetops and Knysna Mountains with a crackling log fire in our own log cabin, Glory Dawn. I will definitely go again!

It is a beautiful place. The owner made an effort to welcome us, we each got a Kit Kat on the bed. There was extra milk in the fridge. Place is spotlessly clean. View from porch, bath and room is breathtakingly beautiful. This is a recommendation for people who want to get away and have silence. The place is very romantic. There is also a swimming pool. I can't wait to stay at Forest Valley again, and would definitely recommend!

We looked at many places in Knysna before settling on Forest Valley Cottages. What a beautiful establishment. Our cottage "Wild Iris" had everything in we needed. The owner Mark went out of his way to arrange dinner, massages and a wonderful yacht cruise for us. Thank you Mark for sharing your piece of "heaven" with us. we truly enjoyed our stay, and celebrated our 25th anniversary just the way we wanted it to be.

Blue Sky Ultimate, has a big, heated Jacuzzi, a 3 m hammock/chill net, that is high up so that the views are unspoiled and vast. Lavender Edge has a large Jacuzzi big enough for 4 people on the deck. Luxurious Birdsong and Gorgeous Olive both have Jacuzzi's, beautiful views and gas Weber braai facilities. There is Wi-Fi available in the reception area, which is free for all guests.
Guests can enjoy hiking into the forest, bird watching, mountain biking, cycling, ferry tripping, and going to the lovely Knysna restaurants and markets in the area. When you arrive you will get a map and a short history lesson on the area, where to go what to do and where the speed traps are. You will also receive information on gin bars and what the locals like to do. An info board at reception allows you to take pamphlets to the cottage and plan things to do, assisting you in having a really enjoyable, rejuvenating stay.
