The Stone Cottage is set on a hillside with views over the farm and valley. This cosy cottage is built of stone and has a thatched roof. The air-conditioned cottage can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children and comprises 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The first bedroom is furnished with a double bed and the second bedroom with 2 child-only beds. The bathroom is fitted with a bath and shower.
The open-plan living space features a dining area and a lounge furnished with comfortable couches and a fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, stove, oven and microwave. Outside there is a patio with seating, a braai, and a lovely KolKol wood-fired hot tub. Two mountain bikes are provided for guests to use.
The area offers many outdoor activities such as fruit orchards, olive groves, vineyards, walking and hiking trails, mountain biking, 4x4 trails as well as bird watching in Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve. The hosts offer wine walks and guests are welcome to enquire for more information. Guests can also enjoy the pottery studio, art galleries, and cob house building or enjoy a meal at the local coffee shops, restaurants, or pubs.

Stone cottage at Fossil Hills is a real gem! It was so nice even though the weather was cold, the fireplace and wood were very handy. There are lovely soft extra blankets and the house is cosy. It has the most beautiful views. Our only problem is that we wanted to stay longer!
We were there when the Cape had its coldest and wet weather. The wind was beyond gale force. The cottage stood firm against the elements despite a few leaks that were to be expected. It was our 3rd stay at Fossil Hills Stone Cottage, and it's lovely!
Was very nice and the location and the house with complete equipment you need, everything was good. Can't complain about anything.

Winter idea not so great. Smelly cottage due to fireplace that could not be effectively used due to wind blowing into cottage. Hot tub not protected from weather, not usable in extreme weather. Location great if you can use amenities. Not a fun weekend for us with wind keeping us awake the whole night.

The house had everything we needed. There is so much to do on the farm. This time of year it is so beautiful with all the field flowers. It is also very close to McGregor town itself where you can go for a delicious meal and visit the market on a Saturday. We enjoyed it very much.

Fossil Hills Pinotage House is truly a gem of a place with so many things to do. The house is very spacious and tidy with everything we could need. It has a nice big indoor sitting area and the gardens are so beautiful. The photos on the website certainly don't do the place justice, it's 10 times better. We had a great time, and the wood-fired bath is also a winner. We also took nice morning walks, went picnicking and canoeing at Fossil Hills dam, and wine tasting at McGregor Wine Farm, just opposite Pinotage house within walking distance. I would definitely recommend the place, 5 stars is way too little.
We really enjoyed our stay in the stone house, sitting in the hot tub for hours and staring over the hills. It's definitely the right place if you need to get away from the city and recharge your batteries. The house was spotless and well furnished and the hostess is very friendly and accommodating. We hope to visit here again soon.
We stayed in Aloe Cottage. Nice and quiet. Enjoyed the pond and the hiking trail. Nice fish caught and grilled quietly in the open air.
Quiet and peaceful but also very close to McGregor where great restaurants etc. is.
Quiet with everything you need, everything was neat and clean, with plenty of walking/running space between the mountains. No "loadshedding". Most beautiful environment. Donkey sanctuary "donkey sanctuary" right next to Fossil Hills is a must visit, unforgettable experience, with excellent service.

We really enjoyed our stay at these cottages. It is nicely secluded from the rest of the cottages in the most beautiful surroundings. It's close to the dam and the start of the hiking trails which we really enjoyed. The wood fired hot tub on the porch was a winner and we sat and visited for hours. The cottages are very well equipped and we appreciated the electric blankets and ample firewood. Ina is a wonderful hostess and we would love to come back again.
We had a great time and Ina was extremely hospitable. The children really enjoyed the KolKol bath. The indoor barbecue at the big table made for late night visits!
This was our annual Caro weekend over Father's Day where my wife and I gather with all the children and spouses. We walked through the beautiful town of McGregor and had a nice meal at The Courtyard. Furthermore, the donkeys at Eseltjiesrus stole my wife's heart. The large yard was very nice for our dogs who could run to their heart's content. Pinotage house was very nice and clean, beds slept great and all the amenities were there that were needed.
Our weekend at Lemon tree cottage was heavenly. Nice and private. 4x4 was great fun. We would have preferred a bit of a bigger bed, but that's a personal choice as my husband is a giant. Everything was perfect, clean and tidy. Definitely see you again.
Ina went out of her way to ensure a perfect getaway. We really couldn't fault anything, everything was perfect and the "fire wood hot tub" was definitely a hit. Fossil Hills is close enough to explore the area, but the quietness of the area was a big treat for us.
Everything is just perfect. The stay, the starry splendor, the call of the osprey and springbok make it unforgettable. We have the best memories.

It was an unforgettable few days we had. Only nature around you, birds in the mornings that wake you up. Away from all the noise and hustle and bustle of life. We switched off completely and were over so quickly. House was beautiful inside. And when we called Ina she was available and helped. We also grilled meat deliciously by the pond and just enjoyed the day together. We will definitely come again.
The location is fantastic max. 20 minutes to the nearest town, both ways. Beautiful scenery all around and so much to do and explore on and around the farm. All-round absolutely fantastic and wonderful experience - definitely will be returning.

A wonderful farm visit to recharge the batteries. It was good for the soul to be able to spend a few days in nature. The 4x4 route takes you over a large part of the farm. The cottage is well equipped with everything needed, even a TV with DStv which we didn't expect (actually a TV is not even needed in the area).
The cottage is situated on its own within a nature reserve where we had sightings from our patio of Springbok and Blesbok. Wood-fired hot tub was most welcome after a hike exploring the reserve.
Our group had a great time - lots to do in the peaceful farm setting. The units are very neat and well equipped.
It was a nice break away with the family. You can enjoy the dam on the hot summer days and on the cold nights sit in the hot tub. You are separate from the other guests but don't feel isolated as there are other guests on the farm.
The Aloe Cottage had everything we wanted and could accommodate our 4 dogs. Fossil Hills Cottages has many family friendly activities and loads of hiking trails for your furry friends. The environment is safe and tranquil both during the day and at night. This was an enjoyable and relaxing holiday. A much needed weekend break from the craziness of 2020.
The places are very neat and clean. Everything you need is there and makes it very comfortable. Lovely surroundings and a lovely experience.
Only negative is that perhaps bed could be queen rather than double. My friends partner is over 6 ft and finds double bed very small.
The unit was clean and tidy and offers everything one might need during your stay. There were even games for the children! We had a great time and will definitely return as soon as possible.

Anna came to unlock for us and she was friendly and professional. Ina was on hand with information about the area. To wipe away all the hustle and bustle we unpacked and immediately went to look for nature on the farm by doing the 4x4 route and looking at the rocks and plants in isolation. It was a warm, friendly place. The natural beauty, development of new fields, the green of the vineyards and orchards and then of course the full of ponds. Beautiful! It was nice!

We stayed in Pinotage House for the long weekend. We were 16 adults, 8 children and 5 dogs, and everyone enjoyed it! The giant lawn, jungle gym with swings, outside braai area and Jacuzzi made this place a dream destination. The indoor braai and table is perfect for colder evenings. We couldn't wish for a better place. It is spacious, quiet, and the kitchen has everything you could need. Every room has air conditioning, there are bathroom treats and enough towels. I can write a book about this incredible place. Thank you Ina, it was incredible!
Fossil Hills cottage was the perfect place to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary! The stone cottage had such a romantic feel about it, it was private, very well equipped and the views over the vineyards and valley was magnificent. The hot tub outside was a winner and we even enjoyed star gazing from the tub during windy evenings. Thank you Ina, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Wonderful place but only for people who don't mind being isolated. Only suitable for 2 people with maybe children as there is only one bathroom from the main bedroom. Well equipped.
Our visit to Fossil Hills Farm Cottages was very enjoyable. The cottage is well equipped, but please don't go with very small children unless you find a way to avoid the very steep stairs altogether. Our children are 2 and 4 and luckily we were able to avoid the stairs. The hot tub outside is lovely, it works very well and we all relaxed so much in the hot water. The wind blew a lot, and it affected the barbecue time a little negatively, so check the weather before you go. We got a flat tire on the last day on the dirt road on the way to the cottage, luckily we were able to fix it ourselves, but be careful of the road if you don't have a 4x4. I think the quiet is wonderful up there, and we didn't feel unsafe at any point. On the contrary, one feels far removed from any village, although McGregor is only a short distance away. Robertson with its shops and pharmacies is also just a few kilometers away, so it's very convenient. Take some books, a coloring book or two, and maybe a puzzle or something that will keep the kids occupied since there is no TV - what a lovely experience! One can manage without TV! It was good for body and soul. The cottage also has an air conditioner and a lovely bath and shower. There are 3 mountain bikes to use as well as 2 fishing rods. Overall a very good getaway away from it all!
