Frere is clean and tidy and the surroundings beautiful. However, it would appear that they are still young in the hospitality industry, because we experienced very little personal hospitality and warmth during a freezing cold weekend. The place is very basic equipped and not suitable for guests in severe cold weather. There was no warm blanket but only a small fan heater, no mats either side of the bed and some of the windows could not close properly. Additionally, an outside light shone into the room, and alas, no call to ask if we were okay amid the severe cold that hit South Africa from 20-22 Sep 2024. After a call to find out how the TV was working, we experienced a hassle. Furthermore, there is only one chair to sit on. You put some of your things on the floor, because there is not enough place to put them down. You also pay if you need room service. There is no proper grass in front of the house yet, so we had to walk through mud to get to the car to attend our wedding at Smitsfield on Saturday. The place has a lot of potential, but there are a few things that need attention.
