We did not stay at Furrows Lodge but at the Waenhuis cottage. The location is more central in town than the lodge itself and part of the restaurant, something that is not clearly stated on the website. We did however have a very nice stay and were well looked after by the hosts. The facility itself was an art lover's paradise. Everything was clean and well kept.
Nice stay, will use the guest house again. Only downside is that we could clearly hear neighbors on either side of our room as there are no stone walls between the rooms.

Althea sent us all the necessary information ahead of time. The town map, places to eat, attractions and much more. Our cozy studio (tiny house) unit was very tasteful and welcoming! Secure parking. Every sweet little detail you can think of for a blissfully comfortable stay is there, even 2 bottles of water and milk! Fan, aircon, WiFi, lovely beds and bedding, electric blanket, umbrella, hairdryer, cute little kitchen, the crockery and equipment are excellent! Delicious hot water (it was damn cold and wet when we were there) and enough space in the bathroom! Althea gave us a big umbrella in pouring rain while we packed the car. The garden and pool are so beautiful! It was a pleasant experience despite the weather! We slept so well! Thank you Althea for your fine hand and hospitality! Your house is beautiful!

Furrows Lodge totally exceeded our expectations. Clean bedding, good location, comfortable house with everything you need in the kitchenette. Althea also made us a nice breakfast and a braai suit at extra cost which was very good. The pictures don't really show how beautiful Furrows is! We are pleasantly surprised.

Situated within a short walk from all the interesting facilities in the town, the Owl House, Bookstores, art galleries, and the James Kitching Fossil Museum, a real treasure in the town. Die Waenhuis Restaurant amongst others to enjoy a real Karooo meal, the Furrows offers affordable comfortable accommodation in the heart of the Karoo. We will definitely recommend this lovely accommodation to our friends.

Furrows Lodge is everything it advertises to be. Althea, the host, is a lovely person and went out of her way to accommodate us. The accommodation is luxurious and peaceful, and the lodge's garden is an oasis. We recommend it 100%.

My motorcycle broke down over Christmas. Althea and Aubry immediately tried to help and even spread the word in town. There were no parts or courier services available, they even offered their vehicle should we need it. When our discussion came to an end they offered that we could stay at their house for a night. They helped us to find a place in another guest house for 2 more nights. It was a pleasure to stay with them and we can recommend them to everyone. Will definitely stay there again.

At the front/porch side of the rooms is a beautiful tree forest garden. It provides an atmosphere of tranquility and calmness. The rest of the large garden also provides a lovely place to sit and relax with a book or a drink.

The luxurious (very affordable) well-furnished room with kitchen area is surrounded by the most beautiful poplar trees. The swing bed with a distant view of the Kombasberg and the beautiful garden was a real pleasure. It's easy to mistake yourself for New Bethesda. Definitely not just an overnight or drive-through place because it's been on my heart for a long time. The dusty streets and some dilapidated old buildings are in sharp contrast to Furrows Lodge which feels like an oasis in the Karoo town. In the comfortable abode it was easy to lose track of time and rest deeply. We will do it again! Thank you Althea and Aubrey for your hospitality.

Very cute stopover destination. The guest house is beautiful and would be able to recommend it. The town itself is very small and really only has enough activities to fill one day. Perfect stopover destination for our way back from the coast. Would much rather recommend it than Colesburg or Gariep as an overnight destination. The hostess and town make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. For city-dwellers, who feel sorry for their luxury cars, after the tarred road there is a dirt road that runs into town.

It was adequate for one night's rest on our road - but I feel the place is not priced right. We have experienced much better for the same price and better location, but the host is very friendly and made us feel very welcome - and the bottle of sherry drove away the cold nicely.

Furrows Lodge is about a year old. It is in a quiet road with little traffic, secured with gates and big dogs - although New Bethesda is a safe village. There are 4 rooms - one is part of the main house, but with its own entrance, and 3 others that stand apart (adjacent to each other) in a beautifully maintained garden with trees near the main house. Each room has its own little patio with a table and chairs. Althea, the owner, thought of everything. The decor and furniture were chosen with a designer's eye. The finest detail can be seen in everything. The king-size bed, pillows and bedding are of outstanding quality. All 4 rooms are of the same quality, one as beautiful as the other. The price difference is about a little extra space, although each room is quite spacious. We were in Room 1, the most spacious room, and it had a lounge sofa and table, as well as a dining area in the kitchen with a table and 4 chairs. Room 1 is also on the point with extra windows overlooking the garden. Althea is the perfect hostess. She is set to make everything perfect and smooth. We could not fault it, as was perfect and beautiful. Furrows Lodge deserves our 5/5 review.
