Beautiful cottage between the mountains and wine fields. Rest for your soul.
It is beautifully located and peaceful. The house is well equipped with everything we need.
We wanted a getaway close to Cape Town that we could take our dogs for a weekend and found this perfect spot for our Bull Terriers and Dachshunds.
Fynbos was exactly what our group needed after a heavy week.
Yes. Clean, tidy and quiet. Beautiful scenery.
We stayed at a different property as was booked since the house we originally booked was affected by the extreme weather we experienced. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and made an effort to ensure we had sufficient space for the kids to move around. I found the dogs lovely and so friendly - I am a dog person - but if you are not, I would suggest you inform the host in advance as they are first in line to greet you! We enjoyed the fireplace and were supplied with more than enough wood to keep it going.
No place inside was dirty and one of the main rooms toilet seat was broken which we reported immediately but no attempt was made to repair it. The large dogs that attacked us at reception were also unpleasant, especially for my wife who is allergic and afraid of dogs. Photos on web page are very old. The outdoor barbecue is impractical and in the mouth of the wind.
The place has a lot of ambience and character.
It was very clean and warm, however, if we had a small car or non-off-the-road car we wouldn't have been able to get up there. There was no information about the roads. It rained and our car got stuck. We checked out a day before because we didn't want to get stuck there! Latoya was a great help when I had queries.
Fynbos Estate was great for us because it was close enough to Malmesbury for shops but far enough away for peace and quiet. The pool was nice. The house is well equipped. The landscape is special and the wine is fabulous. I highly recommend Fynbos Estate.
Unfortunately, our door would not unlock and we had to force the door open damaging the lock. We tried the after-hours number, but no one answered. We wanted to report this on the Sunday, but no one was available. No water pressure upstairs. Power intermittent although off-the-grid.
Although the chalet was very neat and clean and comfortable, attention can definitely be paid to the braai. Area is barely 5 cm away from the nearest fynbos and the grill is rusty and dirty.
Stayed & slept very well.
What a great location just outside Malmesbury in the Paardeberge and private.
If you are going, don't go with kids, no TV, solar panels so you can't shower in hot water, it's not a breakfast buffet but a set menu, can't say what you want, must eat what you are given which is scrambled eggs, mushrooms, 2 pieces bacon which is dry and hard, whole wheat bread, no caring of the guests, not worth paying a lot of money. If you don't look properly you won't find the place.
The cottages and service were lovely. We were safe and felt that way, but there is no safety infrastructure. It will be very hot in the summer. There are fans, but no aircon.
Awesome location, great for small children. Pool area is awesome!
We attended a wedding as a group of friends and Fynbos Estate could not have had a better location. The road was fairly off-road, but easily accessible by most vehicles. The fireplace kept the house cozy and we had a good time. One drawback to the house is its braai area. It is on one side of the farm, added almost as an afterthought. We couldn't really enjoy it and the coals were falling out of it all the time. It is too small and so we could only braai piece by piece. A standard size grill wouldn't fit. Then we also struggled with the power. If a heater is turned on (provided) then the power cuts out. And if you don't notice this, you'll be without hot water as the geyser does not stay warm. If they do not want you to use heaters, they should preferably remove them from the unit. With all of these negatives it was still a wonderful place and we will come back again.
We had such a lovely time at Fynbos. The cottage (Honey Badger) is fully equipped and our hosts provided us with more than enough wood for the fireplace. The best part is the patio overlooking the beautiful farm. We will definitely return!
This is one of those unexpected finds that you know you must return to with a big party of friends and family. Our Honey Badger Cottage was perfect for our needs with teenagers (lots of private spaces), but it was also well equipped for cooking, with thoughtful asides like lots of ice and wood. The facilities from swimming pool, table tennis table, volleyball-net and delicious extras (champagne, chilli and past sauce and spare onions) were all much appreciated. However, the best part was meeting Diane and Johann and their lovely staff, and hearing about their passion for wine and the natural wilderness that they have helped preserve through their private nature reserve. My highlight was definitely our walk up Dragonsridge mountain with its magnificent views and a profusion of pincushion protea. Osama, the cat, also made the trip! I want to return for a proper wine tasting and to hear more about their organic farming and social development work.
An oasis that is only a short drive from Cape Town. We stayed in the Eagle Cottage and had a great time. All the rooms were comfortable and cosy. Wine tasting with the owners is made by arrangement and well worth the experience to enjoy their divine wine and friendly explanation on what they do and why they do it.
Accommodation was clean and tidy. Very basic. Beautiful setting.
Fantastic and wonderful people.
Great getaway from the city and it's very close. Wonderful view. You only hear the birds. Treat yourself.
What a wonderful place to go and relax and get away from the hurriedness of the everyday life.
The estate is beautifully natural, tranquil and tucked away. The cottage has everything one needs. The shower was a little bit cramped but aside from that everything was great.
