Gabus Game Ranch
Gabus Game Ranch
Gabus Game Ranch
-
The name Gabus is derived from the Bushman language, meaning “the place of water”, in a land usually associated with desert and dry landscape. The farmland of Gabus is situated at the foot of the Uisib mountains, approximately 10 km from the little town of Otavi.
On arrival the garden arises like an unexpected green oasis after a long travel and a feeling of surprise and arrival at a destiny settles on the visitor. Beyond the azure blue swimming pool, the first sign of African wildlife may be viewed. Kudu, waterbuck, impala and gnu are hardly disturbed by the movement of visitors around the entertainment area, thus watching the animals arrive for a drink and lick at the salt rock is one of the most relaxing and memorable experiences of a stay.
Luxuriously elegant rooms invite to linger and enjoy. All rooms look out onto the natural water hole which is frequented all day long by some of the abundance of game found in the region. All rooms feature a shower en suite, and are fitted with air-conditioners. High quality cotton bedding and linen sheeting is used for that extra luxurious sleeping experience.
Dinner is served on an elegant table setting where once again guests have the choice of eating intimately by themselves or together as a group with fellow guests, where new friendships are made, experiences exchanged and just a jolly friendly atmosphere prevails. Food is lovingly prepared with only fresh ingredients. The drinking hole is lit by night for those nature lovers who can’t seem to get enough of watching the various movements during the night.

4 guests' feedbackGreat visit at the place. There is plenty to do, even for smaller children. Rooms are comfortable. Food is excellent. Friendly and professional service. Owners involved in management and very good staff. Lovely outdoor areas and places to hang out. Cozy pub with different options, including delicious coffee. You actually have to stay two days, because here you can switch off properly on the way north or back. Definitely worth a visit!
Clean and tidy campsite with a view of the animals.
We had a great time relaxing in a peaceful environment with the water point where the animals come to graze and drink water. Ablution facilities are sufficient and tidy. Camping is cute. Owners are friendly and helpful and you get what is promised on the internet.
Great place to stay and see wildlife. As far as I could tell, every room faces the waterhole including the restaurant so you are always able to see the animals coming and going. Did the safari drive and that was also good for seeing a variety of animals and birds. The food was also excellent. The rooms were great, WiFi good. Staff friendly and eager to please. Definitely recommending this place to all.
