The lodge offers 10 comfortable rooms, situated in either the newly-restored Old Farmhouse or the converted Stable Block. It the only establishment offering B&B accommodation and restaurant facilities within the boundaries of the National Park. 159 guests' feedbackGannaga is a bit of luxury in a rough terrain. White linen sleeps better if you had to wash dust off you on the trip there. We have been to Gannaga several times and have stayed in all the accommodation options. Everyone was delicious. For quick visits on the motorcycle, the convenience of a restaurant, bar and fireplace is wonderful. For longer stays, we prefer the self-catering, and a bit to one side of the stone house. The Tankwa is special and a look back from the Gannaga Pass over the desolate plains takes your breath away, and just over the hump awaits a bit of luxury.
Very nice, safe, friendly people and on top of that the environment is stunning.
Our stay was unforgettable. The nature is unspoilt and our stay brought back many memories of our childhood on Grandpa's farm, especially donkey stook!
The lodge is in a spectacular place - very remote with wonderful views. We were made very welcome and were very comfortable in our room. Sundowners on the deck are a must!
Bucket list venue and experience.
One night too few. Will definitely come and sit on your porch again!
We had a wonderful stay in the stone house, which has beautiful views, as well as everything one needs. The people are very friendly and the service is good.
Gannaga Lodge was out of the ordinary. We loved the remoteness and rustic vibe. True simple Karoo hospitality. Food was great. Staff were very attentive. We had a wonderful stay.
Nice stay. Shortcomings: Aircon faulty, no garbage bin in room, buffet breakfast does not include bacon, eggs, sausage, etc. not in Coffee facilities lack milk, other room sour milk.
Yes, certain roads in the area are unfortunately practically impassable at the moment.
My first time in the area. I will be back.
I was really sad when we had to move on after 2 nights. This was our first experience of the Tankwa Karoo. The stone house where we stayed was so well equipped and we could sleep wonderfully warm in the sudden freezing cold. Now that was a real Karoo experience. The service at reception was excellent and we were received so kindly. Oh, it was really a wonderful wonderful experience and I would recommend it anywhere.
Johan was very helpful in helping us change our chosen accommodation. The restaurant is great. We really enjoyed our visit.
Food was fantastic, great staff, very friendly. Beautiful place for a relaxing stop.
The fireplace in the bar while we watched the Springboks against Australia was about a nice source of heat against the biting cold outside, as were the electric blankets to warm the beds.
Travelling through Tankwa in mud and rain, arriving at Gannaga Lodge was a welcome refuge from the elements. Had a wonderful stay, and Sihle made sure everyone is feeling at home. Dinner was one of the best restaurant dinners I've had on the trip. Gannaga Lodge is perfectly located after/before the visit to Tankwa. On arrival, you select the meal for the evening from the restaurant. Cellphone and Wifi reception is only available around the restaurant and reception area.
Sitting in the bar and lounge, sipping on some red wine, with a beautiful view was the best medicine to unwind. Leaving Kannaga and driving through the Tankwa was an amazing experience.
The rooms are well equipped with an air conditioner, hot shower, kettle, coffee, tea, sugar, hairdryer and towels. The rooms are not bad, but self catering is not allowed and no fire may be lit in the indoor braai or outside on the dedicated braai drums for a quick braai after a long journey. You must order from the menu and purchase drinks from the bar. My traveling companions ordered food from the restaurant, and it was not exceptional, the lamb chops were tougher than a North West rugby player on a cold winter morning. The owner is grumpy and curt with a vocabulary that would make pirates blush, plus he was not at all lenient for us to even use a gas grill. Something along the lines of "he burned down the lodge once and is not going to allow it again, followed by something about 7 farms and burning down in the Tankwa". I zoned out, I just wanted to light a fire and grill in the indoor grill right across from the burning fireplace behind him. But Sihle was the star of the show, he welcomed us with charm and enthusiasm, even giving us insect repellent and an extension cord to charge the 12V batteries overnight in the cold Hantam. I would definitely stay at Gannaga Lodge again, but would bear in mind that no self-catering is allowed, barbeque at the lookout point in Gannaga Pass about 3 km before you reach Gannaga Lodge. As far as Sihle is concerned, he deserves a big thank you, a raise for his kind service. Would love to visit him again, because Sihle makes Gannaga Lodge fun!
Very nice place. Friendly people.
Well managed. Very friendly staff.
We had a wonderful stay. Owner and Siekle very friendly and helpful. Most beautiful place and beautiful view.
The lodge is situated in a beautiful location. Our highlight was Gannaga Pass - worth the stay. We shared the 'house' we stayed in with a minor, but his presence was unobtrusive, so no issues. We ate dinner and breakfast at the lodge - both quite ordinary, and the dinner in particular was not great value for money. The staff members were friendly - Sipho in particular.
The drive up the pass was absolutely gorgeous. Wow. The view was beautiful. Once we reached the lodge at the top it was great to be there. What lovely people. Sihle is a great host, friendly and helpful.
We took our parents on a trip through the Tankwa Karoo to the Namaqualand's flowers. We enjoyed the route up the Gannaga Pass and were grateful to see the Gannaga Lodge as a real oasis. The reception was cheerful and friendly, the food was delicious and true to the traditions of the area - a fantastic experience. The rooms are nicely furnished with comfortable beds, electric blankets and hot showers - everything we needed. We would love to stay here again.
We have been visiting Gannaga for years and will continue to do so.
We stayed in the farmhouse, it suited our needs perfectly. Sihle is a gem, he is so friendly, and helpful and goes out of his way to make one's stay enjoyable. He is an asset to Gannaga. The food was typical Karoo style and delicious. We will visit again.
Very nice, tidy place with the friendliest staff and very tasty farm food meals.
We slept in the guest house, an old farmstead. Thick walls, wooden floors, and a nice fireplace in the corner (which was really needed). Dinner and breakfast were traditional and delicious. Service was hospitable, friendly and prompt.
We stayed in the stone house and what we got is exactly what we saw in the pictures. Very neat, everything you need was there. There is no cell phone reception, but Sihle gave us a two-way radio if we needed anything, we just called him. The restaurant's food is great! Sihle is very friendly and helpful and made sure that we really enjoyed our time there. The roads in Tankwa are not good, I would always check with the lodge about the roads before heading to my destination. I highly recommend Gannaga Lodge to anyone who would like to drive through Tankwa Karoopark and seek the convenience of catered meals.
Lovely stay in the farmhouse with the beautiful view of the Tankwa Karoo.
The stables remain a unique Tankwa experience.
Come and experience high mountains and valleys with wonderful natural scenes.
The living unit was clean, tidy and comfortable. We were kindly received and the meals were excellent.
We would recommend the place to stay, but be prepared that it is expensive for what you get. The food was delicious, but expensive. WiFi is only available at the main building, with no signal in the rooms.
Love the old stables converted into accommodation including the character of the old farmhouse - all tastefully furnished for a very relaxing stay-over. Amazing viewing decks provide 180 degrees providing patrons of Gannaga Lodge the opportunity to capture beautiful photographs, best in the early morning and late afternoon leading into dusk. We enjoyed refreshing drinks to quench the Tankwa thirst. Personally, a bucket list venue of pure tranquility and an appreciated warm welcome!
If you like something a little different, love nature and silence, but still have a need for comfort. Would I recommend Gannaga Lodge. Thought no one could make waste better than my mother, but if you like waste you can try Gannaga Lodge's waste.
Friendly and helpful staff. Sorry offal was not available on menu. Food was recommended as a major attraction by friends. I did not experience it 5 out of 5. Would have also appreciated if someone had warned us that eggs for breakfast were not included in the accommodation price.
Riaan Cruywagen alias Sishle and Johan Visagie are the most outstanding hosts as are the rest of the staff. For us the location was excellent. Nice and exciting menu away from the everyday. If I can find a way, I'm going back there!
We only stayed at Gannaga Lodge for 1 night, and it was lovely. The dinner was extra special, thank you.
We had a lovely stay, staff are friendly, clean rooms and divine food. The Kliphuis is a special place, with amazing views, a little dam and a fire next to the bed.
We slept there on a motorcycle trip through the Tankwa. Delicious food, cold beer and views that take your breath away. Thank you very much. See you again soon.
Management informed us in advance about the Kliphuis' damage and that other arrangements had been made for us at Gannaga Lodge. There were no problems. The Kliphuis experience would have been wonderful but who can control nature and lightning! The food was delicious and experience very positive! Would like to come again and then stay in Kliphuis so alone and aside!
Everything was great, environment and facility top notch, absolutely amazing experience and everyone is so welcoming and friendly. Chef Dean's food is delicious. Thank you Johann and his team.
Very nice lodge with a wide view over a mountain valley. The food was especially very tasty.
The Kliphuis gave us rest for our soul. Veblyf was the best on our tour.
We stayed in the Kliphuis. Nice aside and quiet.
It was wonderfully peaceful and beautiful.
Very friendly hosts, great food and beautiful surroundings.
Really nice environment. Access roads a bit bad, but I expected worse. Blow tires and take your time. Lodge. Beautiful, good beds, decent bedding, rooms spotless. food Delicious food and a good time. Thank you Johan.
Pictures cannot describe the beauty. Unfortunately, rainy weather prevents our intention to drive through the pass/national park. Roads were very bad.
Gannaga's stay exceeded my expectations and we will definitely visit again. Only downside was the condition of the roads through the Tankwa National Park.
It's a bittersweet place to spend the night. The food and the exceptional hospitality of the people is just out of the books. Thank you to Soekie and Johan for making it very nice and comfortable for us, we will definitely visit you again.
Warm welcome and will definitely be back. Meal is prepared with effort.
In the heart of the Hantam Karoo is hospitable Gannaga Lodge. It provides delicious meals, especially the Hantam Karoo lamb. The rooms are comfortable and adapt to the environment. WiFi in the reception, bar and dining area. The premises were neat.
Staff are friendly and accommodating. Food was good, but although they were friendly, kitchen staff are not very professional.
The bathtub in the stone house was loose and I was badly hurt when it tumbled over me.
Nice quiet and beautiful. Go and see.
We drove very far on a dirt road. Pass was incredibly beautiful, just take care of extra wheels and water. And be aware, no cell phone reception, GPS doesn't work either, but staff. Warmly hospitable and food tasty prepared.
Old farm accommodation in refurbished buildings. All very neat & an effort was made to make visitors comfortable.
We had booked our 3 day stay in the Kliphuis self-catering cottage. It has outstanding views and complete privacy. To our dismay upon arrival we were informed the cottage had been struck by lightning in the last storm and could not be used. Instead we were taken to a family unit with a double bed and 1 single bed with bathroom and toilet in the room. The adjoining room would not be occupied and the door was locked. As we had booked s/c we were given 2 plates, cutlery etc a stove and microwave( which couldn't reach the plug). There was 1 small table to use for "cooking". We decided to make the most of the situation and so for lunch and supper ate in the dining room. We had no washing up facilities and our dishes were only replaced on the first day. To our further dismay on our last night the adjoining room was occupied. The Tankwa Karoo is so beautiful and quiet. We hardly slept knowing our neighbour could hear everything we were doing and saying. We were offered 15% reduction on our stay. Not nearly enough for the obvious downgrade from what we had booked. It would've made so much difference had we been informed before we came. It would've saved us a shopping trip for 3 days provisions!. Gannaga Lodge is in the most stunning spot but rather than being quaint and interesting it feels tired and unloved.
Room is comfortable. But the chef is the most unprofessional person ever. Really unpleasant. Our bread for breakfast was also stale. Other than that the service was good.
Staying in the stable was an experience. The view is fantastic. It is beautiful and clean and very peaceful.
Very neat, friendly and the food was incredible.
Rooms are simple but clean. Ideal for a stopover stay in the Karoo - not just for 1 night. The view alone is worth spending the night here. Very friendly staff.
Wonderful, relaxed atmosphere with the most beautiful surroundings.
The tranquility and atmosphere of Gannaga is fantastic. The old farmhouse's rooms where we stayed are very neat and clean and everything works. To sum up if you don't stay here you are missing out.
Popular destination on weekends – for a quiet getaway, go during the week. We stayed for one night for a stopover from Johannesburg with the final destination of the new AfrikaBurn site in the Tankwa (Quaggafontein). It's a beautiful, scenic route through the nature reserve. Continental breakfast is included and you get served homemade bread and jam, and if you want your eggs and bacon, you can order it for an additional R50.
Johan's hospitality, good conversation, delicious food, the view, cleanliness was incredible for us and something to appreciate.
Clear views of the night sky and its magical milky way. Took plenty of night sky photos.
Beautiful place, beautiful nature, wonderful people and wonderful atmosphere with equipped Kliphuisie.
Unbeatable view, welcoming atmosphere. The room was heated, with electric blankets for the sub-freezing temperatures. The country food served is top notch.
Had a great stay, slept nice and warm in the cold weather. Very friendly, hospitable people.
We stayed two nights in the stone house, and I am very sorry that it was not three. The environment is breathtaking.
Fantastic views. Lovely staff and good accommodation.
We were there for 3 nights. The restaurant and bar were very good. We also had a barbecue under the karo roasters. It was very funny for our children to have so much space around us.
Very clean and tidy accommodation in peaceful surroundings. Staff very helpful and friendly. Restaurant serves fantastic meals that match the county.
We spent 2 days here while on a motorbike trip and thoroughly enjoyed the stunning and tranquil location, the beautiful and cozy accommodation, friendly service and atmosphere and the delicious local food. Will definitely return!
The silence is picturesque.
The place, in the Tankwa Karoo, is a real belewis. Along with the incredibly tasty meals, especially the dinners! Gannaga Lodge may have more information available about the Tankwa - the plants, history of the area etc.
Excellent accommodation at the Kliphuis. Dinner excellent. Nature exceptional.
Best place to stay in the Tankwa!
The accommodation and restaurant were very surprising and well cared for and managed. Wonderful location in a very secluded and inhospitable environment. Roads poor and not recommended for sedan cars.
Great stop if in Tanka Karoo National Park. Thank you very much for the friendly reception. The room was very comfortable, spacious, and clean. The bed was comfortable and made up with high-quality linen. Rooms have beautifully modernised to include an en-suite bathroom. Their menus for meals are well prepared and their helpings are huge and delicious.
Food was great, dinner and breakfast and the owner and his staff go out of their way to accommodate guests.
Our stay at Gannaga lodge was pleasant. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The drive to the place offers a very beautiful view. The only downside to this was the food that was offered during dinner. We unfortunately did not eat most of the dishes that was prepared and when a request for an alternate was made, we were turned down as there are set meals during dinner. The seating area around the reception is also quite unhygienic as the place is filled with cat and dog hair, it was an unpleasant sight and lead to allergy reactions.
The silence and space feed one's spirit.
The location is spectacular. The owners are fantastic people. The only comment is the lodge is a bit of a mix up in terms of layout mixing owners, staff, utilities and guest building up. An eclectic mix of decor and people. For bar flies and social drinkers the bar is a fantastic watering hole at altitude with spectacular views. The rooms have very small windows and low ceilings so you feel like u want to get out.
Excellent location and unique.
Pleasantly surprised by this lodge in the middle if nowhere and surrounded by the beautiful Karoo landscape. The traditional Karoo food that was served was divine. Loved the peace and quiet, with no reception and or noise.
The co-owner Johan is a fantastic host. Delicious farm food menu, clean and luxurious farm style accommodation. Jewel of the Tankwa Karoo if you like silence or just long for it!
The hospitality is super, rooms are nice, views are stunning. Very nice staff. Bobotie: the best we have ever tasted! Thank you Johan and Nina!
Thank you for nice stay!
It's a good place to stay for a few days.
Peaceful, quiet with a nice view. Karoo at its best. Food was excellent! Experience the Karoo in all its fullness.
We were kindly received and ate deliciously and slept well!
Away from the daily routine with only the tranquility and beauty of the Tankwa Karoo.
Great location with spectacular views - night sky spoilt by too many lights on property.
A pleasant surprise. Hospitality was fantastic, meals were tasty and typical of the area. Rooms were pleasant and clean.
The accommodation is neat and clean, with the friendliest staff ever. Thanks to Jaco for drying our clothes and you will have to look far to surpass Johan's sheep neck. I would recommend it to anyone.
Very calm, neat and friendly people.
Very friendly welcome. Beautiful clean warm bedrooms. Some of the best food ever at a very affordable price. Nice pub with nice people.
A very nice place with fantastic service and stunning views.
Beautiful, large stone walled rooms with air conditioning & unique (in terms of architecture) bathroom facilities. Fantastic service; many thanks Johan, Enrico & Robert. Children enjoyed swimming in the heat; swimming towels are provided. Meals an experience; the most delicious boerewors at breakfast, enjoy lamb's tails for dinner (so soft it falls off the bone) & feel free to try the sheep's head; lamb neck the best! If a garlic lover, don't miss the cheese & garlic sandwich as a light lunch.
Beautiful place, very friendly staff, nice and quiet. Stunning landscape. We got to see oryx, zebras and some other smaller animals.
At Gannaga Lodge we really felt close to nature. The rooms were very clean and tidy while the friendly staff really looked after our needs. The atmosphere is absolutely relaxed and I can really recommend it to visitors visiting the Tankwa-Karoo National Park. Johan's dinners were always something to look forward to, the dishes were truly delicious.
Stay in Kliphuisie was very good - will definitely want to stay there again. Nina was very friendly and cute. Dinner and breakfast disappointing. There is definitely someone who knows more about preparing and serving food - you eat with your eyes! Beautiful place, has a lot of potential, needs some finesse.
2 friendly receptionists upon arrival but they did not know much about the area when we asked about places nearby to drive to in the vicinity. suggested we ask someone, perhaps the owner who was not on site at the time. one lady was smoking in the reception area while speaking to us, both lady doubled up as barmaids entertaining the guests, drinking with them and one again smoking. the rooms (stables) were very comfortable with clean linen, towels, heated undersheets, tea/coffee tray but unfortunately there was a terrible stench coming from the shower drain. the food was excellent and came with very good service, meals were tasty and represented local cuisine
Very nice stay. The service is good. The accommodation is very neat the meals are really tastefully prepared - will definitely recommend accommodation here.
This is a bucket-list stop! We had such a good stay. The food is top notch and we also made new friends. This is a place you simply have to make a part of your travels. Thanks so much, we'll be back soon.
We had a great sleep over! Terribly beautiful and peaceful like that in nature!
Had a good night's rest, it's tranquil. Restaurant was very good, can recommend it.
It was our first stay in the Tankwa Karoo National Park. Gannaga Lodge is the perfect place to be when you want to visit the park. The lodge is very close by the Gannaga Pass which is beautiful. The owner/manager make us feel at home and is very friendly. Gannaga Lodge is the only place in the park with a restaurant. The local food in the restaurant was value for money.
The accommodation, the environment, the people, the food, everything was such a pleasant experience.
Wonderful experience. The accommodation is something different which makes is really special. Friendly owner who makes one feel at home immediately. The accommodation was clean and neat. Meals great.
Interesting decor in the stables but everything needed was there. Very tasty dinner and what was on the menu is what is expected from that part of SA.
Staff very friendly.
Everything was fine and made us feel welcome. The staff were all warm and welcoming. They willingly helped everywhere. The facilities were also excellent. Thank you very much!
An oasis in the middle of the Karoo. We will definitely go back. The children also enjoyed it immensely.
It was such a warm welcome from the cold, rainy weather! We will recommend you to everyone on their way in your direction! You will definitely see us again!
My second stay and like the last time we were treated like royalty. Johan and Robby are fantastic hosts. Nothing is too much and always served with a smile. The lodge is in a great position and like an oasis in the middle of the arid Karoo.
It was absolutely fantastic and will recommend it to everybody. The food was amazing!
Can't wait to go again!
Good accommodation and a beautiful environment.
Very nice place with friendly people and very nice food. Good atmosphere, but road was very bad.
What a great surprise and a positive experience all round! If you are looking for a memorable Karoo experience and great atmosphere and excellent food, go to Gannaga Lodge. Friendly and helpful staff in clean rustic facilities. Ensure it is on your bucket list!
Actually beautiful location, great swimming pool. Ideal for tractors or with quad or cross moped. However, the service at the table by the ladies was rough and distant. It's a pity that we have no information about the prices of the drinks. Well, one big difference between locals and foreigners in terms of pay.
Beautiful place with friendly reception staff. Just the place to spend the night or for a few days to switch off and appreciate the tranquility and natural beauty.
A must stop, if only for beer or coffee. If you travel as couple, make sure to book in the stables, and if group of friends, book the lovely farmhouse. And taste the exquisitely prepared lamb neck.
I admit that I did not read the confirmation fully. Dinner I can understand needs to be on an a la carte basis. However, I was surprised that breakfast was also extra, especially when there is no alternative. The room has no facilities, not even a kettle. The rate should be, at least, a bed and buffet included. There can be a supplement for any hot items.
Had a great stay, ate well and enjoyed the landscape.
Outstanding. Hospitable. Very neat, food is some of the best! Staff pleasant and go out of their way to make your holiday an experience. Was just too short.
Gannaga Lodge is not on a main route and is therefore uniquely situated in a beautiful location. I had the most delicious scraps ever for dinner.
It was the most wonderful break from the hustle and bustle of the daily routine. The most incredible scenery and the wonderfully cool rooms. The menu was amazing and the food tasty. The children enjoyed the swimming pool, while we could read a book in peace.
We arrived at the lodge by motor cycle and were given such a warm welcome we immediately felt at home. Robert and Johan are fantastic hosts and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The accommodation is clean and very comfortable the facilities from the well stocked bar, the pool and the wonderfully rustic food made our stay a real pleasure and we will definitely be returning. Thanks to all the Gannaga team we had a great time.
We were at Gannaga for two days, and it was a great experience. Johann, Robert, Nina and the rest of the team make you feel welcome and simply hang out with you at the bar and tell you stories about the people of the area. The views are amazing, the people and the food were delicious. If you want to visit the Tankwa, I would highly recommend Gannaga! It's quite a unique experience.
What an experience. It is beautiful and everyone is so hospitable and friendly. We had a very nice stay.
The Lodge is breathtakingly beautiful. The experience is like going back to the farm. Our room in the house complex was beautiful and comfortable. Drinking coffee in a separate lounge was the highlight of our evening. The host's convivial presence is definitely something to experience. The surroundings are a nature lover's dream and offer several photo opportunities. Our next visit will definitely be longer than just an overnight stay. We are going to undertake a daily excursion in the Tankwa from the Lodge as a base.
We stayed in refurbished stables - well designed and decorated. Aircon and heated blankets kept us cosy throughout the freezing night. Johan and his staff prepared us a fantastic dinner and we enjoyed a couple drinks in their bar too. Worth the drive the stars and views are spectacular.
As always, Johan and his people are very friendly and the accommodation top notch. The food was amazing and the visit in the bar nice with the friends and other guests!
Gannaga Pas is incredibly beautiful and then Gannaga Lodge is on the top, like the proverbial cherry on the cake! The room is spacious and tidy (with a nice warm bed for a cold night) and we had a lovely time with Johann and Nina. Their food was absolute value for money and we will definitely return.
A pleasant surprise. Rooms are lovely and the food is excellent. Can't wait to visit again.
The dinner and breakfast served to us, were 5-star. We will definitely go back there if we travel through the Tankwa-Karoo again.
Gannaga is a great destination and you feel you are visiting friends. I have visited Johan six times and everytime it is a fantastic experience. The location is fantastic and very unique.
Care people! Very special menu! Allow for all weather conditions.
One night was too short. Next time I would stay at least 2 nights.
Dinner is a variety of farm food that you should not miss. The service is good and the atmosphere is relaxed with lots of interesting artwork.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gannaga lodge and were well looked after by Johann, Nina and the rest of the staff. It was bitterly cold but the beds are cosy and warm as toast. Would highly recommend a stay at Gannaga lodge for at least 2 nights.
The old house is really beautiful and the staff and owners were all very friendly. Thank you so much.
Second time at Gannaga Lodge and was great. Highly recommended lodge for a very different experience.
Most awesome lodge surrounded by breathtaking views.
A warm reception from the helpful and friendly staff, superb accommodation in the old farm house and good food, made our overnight stay a most enjoyable one. Will certainly consider staying there again should our travels take us in that direction.
Excellent comfort and friendliness in the middle of nowhere. And good food. Worth driving the rough dirt road (and even losing a wheel!) to visit Gannaga Lodge. The Gannaga Pass is great to ride out and the view is amazing.
It's a surprisingly good experience to get such good service, accommodation and meals in a remote place. Everyone involved at Gannaga Lodge is competent, friendly, helpful people.
We arrived at Gannaga Lodge as strangers and we left as friends. Many thanks Johan, Anton and Simoné for your hospitality and the lovely visit.
We were caught off guard and landed there with a load of fresh food as we thought it would be self-catering as offered by most farms. I think that the fact a country fare restaurant is run on the farm must be stated on the website. The road through the Tankwa is particularly bad, the less you need to bring the better. I also had the idea that the lodge is in the Tankwa reserve, but you mast go through the Gannaga Pass first from the reserve's side to reach it. This makes for a long day trip from Cape Town to Gannaga.
We stayed in the converted stables and were very comfortable for the two nights we were there, would have preferred a double bed, as opposed to the two singles we had. The food was hearty and the reception friendly! We loved exploring the surrounds, especially as it was our first visit to the area. Wonderfully quiet with abundant bird life. The flowers were stunning even though we apparently missed the best of it.
As a gateway to the Tankwa Karoo National Park, Gannaga Lodge is supurb. Comfortable and very interesting.

The lodge offers 10 comfortable rooms, situated in either the newly-restored Old Farmhouse or the converted Stable Block. It the only establishment offering B&B accommodation and restaurant facilities within the boundaries of the National Park. Unlike the Tankwa National Park, Gannaga Lodge does not offer self-catering accommodation.
The reception building is newly constructed from local stone retrieved from old farm outbuildings, is air-conditioned and contains a well-stocked bar, spacious lounges, the dining room and a meeting room suitable for seminars and small conferences. From here, guests can enjoy glorious views towards Langkloof and over the Gannaga Pass into the Ceres Karoo. The kitchen specialises in traditional local food, using local produce wherever possible.
