We booked five rooms and all had issues - doors, shower doors, door handles or cupboards were broken. Some showers were not working properly. Some mattresses were hard. No bed lamps. Plates were chipped at breakfast. The place needs serious maintenance. Otherwise, it has aircon, DSTV and the outside venue and communal areas are lovely. Breakfast was lovely too.

The stay was good, the only problem is that the pool was dirty so we couldn't use it. The difficulties of exiting and entering at the gate. There's no security at the gate and we had to keep calling at the reception.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Gatz Guest House is lovely and is a great stay, unfortunately the location is not so ideal. Safety-wise, absolutely no problem, but it is next to the settlement and the weekend was just a full-on party with loud music. This made sleeping a bit restless.

Breakfast is included in the price. The chef doesn't start work until 8 o'clock, it was prearranged that we should drive early in the morning, so no breakfast the first day. Afterwards, they packed a meal to take with them. There is a restaurant, but no meals were available because there were too few guests, and in the area there are not exactly places where we could go to eat.

The long wait at the gate before someone can open the gate poses a safety risk. Booked two deluxe rooms. I had to settle for 1 deluxe and 1 standard because there was a double booking for 2 clients. The place needs to be maintained; some lights are not working, our toilet was leaking and making noise the whole night. I enjoyed the breakfast though; it was fresh and wholesome.

The service was great and the staff members were friendly and the chef, wow. If they can put heaters in other rooms and water tank nearby. But apart from that I'm happy with everything.

Wow, the place exceeded our expectations. Only 20 km from Sun City. It's quiet and bitterly beautiful on the plot. Rooms are spacious and nicely furnished. Friendly service from everyone there. The chef offered us packed lunches as we unfortunately had to leave early before breakfast, and it was 5 star quality. Thank you very much Thato and your people for taking such good care of your guests. We will see you again soon.

It's a spacious property with facilities to cater for young and older children. I enjoyed my stay and keep up the great work of giving us a peaceful sleep while we are at leisure. The numbers at the gate work, and the breakfast was good.

On arrival it was load shedding, there was only 1 flashlight available with which we were escorted. Please install lights inside and outside. The shower leaked terribly.

We only have one complaint. The breakfast was really not good. The bacon and the eggs were ice cold. The baked beans were not heated at all. I don't think there was water in the baymarine and that's possibly why the food was cold. There was a fair variety to choose from, but we'd rather choose the cold meats, fruit, muffins and yogurt next time than the bacon, eggs, sausages and fish fingers.

The house is dilapidated and needs a lot of renovation. Shower was clogged and flooded the entire bathroom and room. No light bulbs in any of the bedside lamps. Sinks have no working plugs. Faucets are loose. Chest of drawers broken and falling out. Lamps for load shedding do not work. Generator could not be started. Playground equipment is broken and children can be seriously injured. There was no hairdryer or microwave, and we had to ask for them. The pillows are brown and some are so thin and flat that you couldn't sleep on them. There is no control over guests who are drunk and unruly. The loud music and shouting continued until daylight. Refrigerator in our room was out of order. There are ants everywhere, if you stand they walk over your legs and feet. They are in your bag and snacks. On the sink, toilet and shower. It's messy. This guest house is definitely not even worth a three star. A new evaluation is needed. The post is extremely misleading and should be corrected. Definitely not worth R950 per night.

"Three days overnight during Sacopa. No gate service or a remote was provided for admission to and from the premises. Difficulty getting in and out of premises late at night."

We requested accommodation in Rustenburg town and there was only 1 option viz. Gatz Guest House. Later we would find out that it was 37 km outside the town in a remote and unsafe part of the town. We repeatedly requested to find other accommodation in the town. Although I arranged with the owner to move our stay a day earlier, Gatz Guest House was unaware of this and the family room was not fixed when we arrived there at 4pm on Wednesday 5th October. No one was at reception and the phone was not answered. The chef came to greet us after a few minutes and called to get information about our reservation. Upon request, the beds were covered, but when we laid down on them they were wet and we had to take them down and request for dry bedding. Defective crockery for 4 people was in the cottage. Only 1 bedside lamp next to the double bed. No remote for the air conditioner and only 1 TV station, although DSTV is advertised. We had to wait around 10 - 15 minutes in front of the gate at half past ten at night, while no one answers any phone and no gate service is available to let us in safely. This after I requested the chef to open for us and WhatsApped him as soon as we left town. At the first breakfast there were no glasses covered. No plates, dish soap, teaspoons, knives or forks in the family home, for self-catering meals, to use. Nothing has been added to the rooms since I requested it. The breakfast was pleasant. The guest house is clearly no longer well maintained and I would therefore not recommend anyone to stay there for a few days.

They promote a bar and restaurant but on arrival it was closed. Further to that the breakfast was not a available at 08:00 as indicated. No coffee, sugar or milk in the room. The room was fine.

I left an article behind and it was sent by them to me via courier. Please note, I am not a person who will give credit if it is not warranted, but I will again book this place if I am in the Sun City vicinity.

Clean and tidy. For dinner you have to barbecue or buy something outside the guest house. They don't sell dinners themselves. We stayed there because I had a competition in Sun City so it was ideal to just lay your head down and have breakfast in the morning. Photos on the internet are exactly what it looks like. Friendly workers and your car was washed every morning.

Destination is central near sun city and Pilanesberg. The accommodation is quite neat, but not the same as the website suggests. There is quite a lot of noise in the evening from other guests in terms of loud music.

It's a nice place. But there are a few small things that could be improved on. For example, we asked for an extra towel because there were only 2 bath towels and we were 3 adults, and we were told the room only comes with those 2 normal towels, eventually after asking a few times and explaining that we are 3 people we got a third towel. The third person not sleep in the bed, was given only a sheet to sleep with, no duvet. They provided coffee and tea in the room but there was no kettle to boil water. There was no toilet paper in the guest bathrooms, and the swimming pool full of mosquito larvae. We were given a sheet of paper with the code to our room which also had the code to another room (this is not very secure if multiple people have the codes to the same room). Nothing was done to keep noisy guests blasting music late at night quiet. I was pleasantly surprised by the roaming security and secure gates. Breakfast was nice, albeit expensive for the third person. They brought us a little braai and plates to eat from which was nice. And overall, the place was mostly neat and clean. However, the service and engagement between all staff and guests could do with some work.

The biggest problem (and there were a few) is that the air conditioning in our room didn't work at all, some of the lights didn't have bulbs in them and the staff were never in the office or bar when you needed them. The breakfast was bitterly disappointing. The gate from the road to the guest house was open during the night, so anyone could drive in and out as they pleased.

When we arrived the receptionist wasn't very pleased to help us at all - more complaining about her rough day and how tired she is. We were told that no meals would be served in the restaurant that evening. Funny that a vehicle full of employees arrived and all of them went straight to the bar and walked around with beer bottles and drank. My understanding from the gate guard is that only people who stay there overnight are allowed in, but the men come and go as they please? At the request of another guest, he is personally told that the receptionist will explain to him how the meals served in the evening work - to us she says they don't sell anything? We left to go buy dinner at the local Foodzone, much better service and even greeted in Afrikaans! Must say everything was clean, Gray Room's bathroom needs a lot of attention. No use for breakfast due to bike race Other guest get packed lunch, not that it bothered us as we didn't mention it. Parking a significant problem. 6 months and the place is run down if they continue on the trend. Will not go there again

"Nicely set-up location but with bad management"

The location is nice, the setting, including a garden and a large, clean swimming pool is great. The rooms are clean, the beds are good and the breakfast is great. There are, however, a number of reason why we wouldn't go back here. We booked a family room and a double room. The extra bed in the family room was just a sleeping couch that is on the floor when it is opened. We found it with just one sheet on it: no pillows, no duvet or sheet/extra blankets. This is not how a family room should look like, and especially not for the amount they charge for it. It should have a bunk bed or equivalent, or the website should explicitly state that is is only a sleeping couch. Besides this, the room was not well prepared. The double room didn't have water when we arrived, and when this was fixed a couple of hours later the family room did not have water from midnight until the next afternoon. We were offered to shower in another room, but only at 10:30. They did not provide us with buckets of water or so in the mean time while we were staying with some small children. There are two gates from the main road, and these gates were closed during day time. However, both gates were open at night time. When we asked why the gates were open at night they said that they were fixing the gate, but at that same moment the gates were working properly. It seemed that they were understaffed at nighttime. The receptionist was not well prepared when we arrived as there was no information on how much we paid already, and when we checked out we had to ask for the bar-bill, otherwise she would have forgotten the drinks. Summarising: it is a nice place, but not well run at the moment. The personnel sorted our issues when we asked for it, but there were time after time new issues we weren't happy with.

We received great service from day one. The receptionist made us feel very comfortable. The next morning my car was washed! Excellent, 10 out of 10!

Good breakfast and willing to accommodate guests' needs. Rooms were clean and neat and spacious. Our bicycles easily fit into the rooms.

Sufficient 1 night stay if you only want a place to sleep for 1 night. Rooms are spacious and tidy. Co-guests' noise late at night bothered, because rooms are divided in one house.

We enjoyed our stay, but since it is so far from Sun City and Pilanesberg, there should be more activities on site itself. The breakfast was very basic and the logistics of having the dining room quite far from the kitchen is not successful.

We visited the guest house on the 19th of December for a night. We we're placed in a family unit because we had a toddler. The aircon in the room was not working. It was blazing hot and we couldn't even sleep. Even with the windows open it didn't help. We just suffered from mosquito bites. The staff members kept on coming to the room and claimed they fixed it, but the aircon was still not working .They didn't even apologise for the inconvenience, but just said they would fix it in the future.

"Budget accommodation, don't expect too much."

Signs of deterioration typically seen elsewhere in Africa. Guesthouse was completely overbooked with as many as 8 or 9 guests per family room. Many groups of people having tailgate (boot) parties with loud music. Our room was clean, everything worked and breakfast was good. As far as budget accommodation goes, at Gatz Guest House you get exactly what you pay for.

We had a good stay, although some of the bedding had marks on them. The rooms need a paint job and some renovation. Breakfast was nice, although it was cold the one morning due to a lot of guests. Some of the staff weren't friendly or helpful, while others were. Needs improvement, but was just right for 2 nights.

Such a nice environment and amenities but they don't keep their hand on everything. There is also no one who can manage the place with insight. Breakfast very basic and cutlery short. No one talks to you. No thank you. Not again.

The place is very neat but there is no customer service. Breakfast was not right. It was cold and when it was said that breakfast was between 8 - 10. 20 past 8 everyone was still standing around and dressed well. Not organized at all.

The accommodation was clean and neat, the breakfast was great, the staff were really accommodating, helpful and friendly but there is major room for improvement. We won't make use of the guesthouse again for the following reasons: Not enough towels for the number of guests; 1 drinking glass for a party of 5, 2 cups for coffee; Hardly any water pressure and the water takes 1 hour to heat up; Room was with plagued by mosquitoes; Other guests were allowed to make excessive noise past midnight; The sleeper couch had no sleeping pillows or duvet; If you advise you have braai facilities it should be proper; The outside table and chairs are falling apart.

We had an amazing experience. The rooms were so beautiful and breakfast was amazing. Will go back any day. They also accommodated me for my day. I didn't check in and that was super sweet of them to let me stay another night.

At first we were worried about what it would be like to share a room with our teenage sons, but the room was lovely and spacious and there was more than enough room for all of us. The room is very tastefully furnished with very good quality furniture. We came back very late in the evenings and the security guards manning the gate were always available and greeted us kindly. We were received very kindly and felt 100% at home and well taken care of as soon as we stepped in.
