Jude is an excellent host. She went the extra mile by collecting our meat from the butchery, due to the fact that we could not be in time to buy it ourselves. The accommodation is very spacious and everything is there that you need to relax and enjoy your stay in Prince Albert. Will definitely visit again!
We had an amazing stay at Gecko Cottages. The cottages were perfect for our family and the pool a welcome relief from the heat. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer.

Gamkaskloof is a 5 hour drive round trip. We live near George and therefore decided to sleep over in Prince Albert. We have stayed in Gecko Cottages before and were satisfied.
The accommodation was more than adequate, very comfortable, neat and clean.

The butcher across the street has very nice fresh meat, and the cottage had everything anyone would need for a comfortable overnight stay.

Gecko Cottages is very well located, and everything is within walking distance. All the possible facilities to make one's stay comfortable and pleasant are available. Brian and his wife were friendly and helpful and gave great advice on what to see and do in the area. Lovely fireplace kept the cold outside, and our family felt at home, it was a home away from home experience!

The second room is smaller with little hanging space. It has separate access from outside, not from inside the house. It is more suitable for primary school/teenage children than adults. The rest of the house is very pleasant, spacious and nicely furnished. We lived right behind the Rude Chef and had a great meal there. There is only a Weber braai.
It is very nice, spacious and tidy accommodation although the 2nd bedroom is located outside on the veranda. All shortcoming we found was that there was no soap in the bathrooms.

Great place for two families or couples to use.
Very spacious, safe self-catering accommodation in the center of town, yet you don't hear the traffic at all. All equipment is provided and guests can enjoy a barbecue in the garden with comfortable garden furniture.
Everything you need in a spacious place to stay. Pool was a nice bonus.
The swimming pool offered great fun in the sweltering summer. Bryan and Judy were very helpful hosts, even helping to change a flat tire.
The cottage is very tastefully furnished with everything needed to ensure a very comfortable stay. The hosts went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and were very helpful. Note that Gecko's other cottage is also on the same site and that you have to share the wading pool. So privacy can be an issue for guests.

Gecko Cottages is an ideal place to stay - very centrally located. Everything is reachable on foot. It has all the necessary kitchen equipment and a great luxury is the dishwasher. The swimming pool is a great treat in the scorching heat. We really had a great time.
The bathrooms could be made more user friendly perhaps by the addition of towel rails, clothes hooks and a shelf for toiletries. The children’s room was a little isolated for very young children.

We arrived on a boiling hot day. The owner proceeded to tell us that he did the turn around, so if there was no toilet paper it was his fault. He said this as a joke, but it sadly turned out to be true, as we had to replace our roll in the main room. We were expecting to find a jug of ice cold water in the fridge, but there was only a half bottle of chocolate milk, left by the previous guests! Definitely not what we were expecting. The rooms were comfortable, although there was only 1 aircon for the main room, which was extremely noisy.
When we were on our way we just had to let them know roughly what time we would be there so that Bryan & June could meet us and bring keys. They were so nice from start to finish and nothing is too much trouble for them. The cottage is so nice and clean and is provided with coffee, tea and sugar. The small swimming pool is great for cooling down after a hot day, as is the aircon in the house. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling through Prince Albert. The place is central in town but slightly "hidden" so it doesn't feel like you're in town.
A beautiful cottage with a comfortable kitchen and living room. Although it was not cold enough, the fireplace would have been ideal for this "cozy" cottage. Next time we will book the other cottage as well, because the courtyard with the swimming pool with its beautiful verandas is ideal for 3 couples or a family weekend away. Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend. The lovely mattress on the bed and the huge shower head in the shower ensured a lot of relaxation.
Brayn is a super host. Everything is clean, tidy and in the center of town. Within walking distance of everything. Lovely swimming pool and braai facilities. Ideal place to sleep!
The owner Bryan texted us the morning of our arrival and asked if we could give him an approximate time of when we would arrive. We did and upon our arrival he was there to receive us personally. The reception was very pleasant and he created the impression that he wants to make his guests feel at home and at ease. The chalet is very well equipped if you want to prepare your own dinner and breakfast. We were then left to our own devices and were able to relax wonderfully in the small pool before enjoying a delicious dinner at the hotel just across the street. Would definitely recommend Gecko.
Gecko Cottages (2) are located in the heart of the town, behind businesses on the main street. We expected noise to be a problem, but were pleasantly surprised by the peace and quiet. No problem with parking and lovely spacious units. The "splash pool" brought great relief. Both cottages were excellently equipped. The large stoeps and braai facilities were truly a plus. The cottage is not serviced daily, but this was not a problem for us. We only found the bathroom (of a single cottage) a bit inconvenient - it is small and there are no shelves or surfaces on which you can place your cosmetics. The larger cottage (2 bedroom) is better equipped - even with dishwasher and washing machine. Both have fireplaces, air conditioning and ceiling fans which are definitely necessary for Prince Albert. A laundry next to the entrance for those who don't want to do their own laundry. The host and hostess are particularly friendly and helpful.
The place is bigger than it looks in the photos. It's well furnished and very comfortable.
