So nice, we'll be back next year for longer.
Our hosts were phenomenal, the location is stunning, we will be back for sure.
Just an overnight stay recce. Thoroughly enjoyed the drive up the pass, beautiful views and waterfalls. Beautiful setting on top of the pass amongst the fields of rooibos tea bushes. Purchased a pack of rooibos from the reception area, fresh and absolutely delicious. (What a difference a tea bag makes!) Chalet was well kept, braai flue perfect, we weren't smoked out. Beds comfortable with plenty of extra blankets for a cold night.
It is one of the most beautiful places in our country. And so few people know about it!
The environment is breathtaking. The accommodation is simple, neat, clean and comfortable. The beds are already quite laid out. We are not big people and the double bed was just wobbly. Despite that, we really enjoyed the visit.
Enjoyable, lovely walks.
We had a great time. The Gifberg Holiday Farm is really located in a beautiful part. The walk on the farm and the swimming in the rock pools were fun for the whole family. Die Kliphuisie is far from a 5-star chalet, but I don't think that's the sales pitch, and it wasn't our expectation either - we wanted to relax, walk, swim and barbecue - so we enjoyed every moment. If this is also your aim, then I recommend Gifberg Holiday Farm anytime! The dirt road and the pass are really nothing to worry about. I do think it would be inconvenient to drive a car, but it is possible.
Beautiful place, one of the most beautiful places ever seen. The scenery is incredible.
We really enjoyed it - our dog was with us and had a good time with the farm dogs. Beautiful surroundings. Garden house accommodation basic but nice. Soap in the shower would be appreciated though. It is a working farm, so it is also nice to hear the farm sounds in the morning.
It's a lovely getaway with enough to do for a weekend. The Boesman drawings were an experience. The river was incredibly beautiful!
The road to the farm is a nightmare. Very bad road. Unfortunately there was no signal on the farm which is quite bad. However, we were received very kindly and there was no fault with the accommodation.
It was fun, thank you, and thank you to the owners. One thing that strikes me about self-catering units throughout our country is that there is no mention of comfortable seating outside. One usually has to carry an upright dining chair outside, or fall in love with a plastic chair. People from the city want to sit outside and lean back a bit to look at the blue sky and clouds and trees, but what you usually get is a heavy front house lounge set inside the unit and uncomfortable chairs or a wooden sofa/table set without a backrest.
The environment is very beautiful and interesting. The accommodation is basic. It was our second visit and remember what we forgot: sleep two nights, because it takes a long time with the bad road to the place mountain-out. Definitely not good for overnight. And bring your own firewood - what they sell is rubbish wet wood.
The most beautiful environment. Lovely for nature lovers, hikers and pool goers. Road is quite steep and narrow. Drive one hour for 29 km, but 45 minutes back to Vanrhynsdorp.
Beautiful surroundings, challenging hiking trails. Very quiet away from cell phones and TVs.
Although the road is a bit bad, the environment and nature are breathtakingly beautiful, so it doesn't really bother. Attention can definitely be paid to cleanliness, cleaning and quality of beds and linen. One of the bed sheets had large holes in it and there was also hair in the bed and it looked like it had been slept in. There was some kitchenware that was still dirty. The shower curtain was also moldy. It's a shame because the farm is very beautiful and offers many things to do.
Basic necessities are available, but there are quite a few deficiencies. Leaking taps, broken window shutters, the geyser has a burst pipe and the road to Gifberg is a nightmare.
Beautiful surroundings. No WiFi signal at the cottage. No tea, coffee, milk, sugar in the kitchen, or soap in the bathroom/shower. The beds were the worst. My bed, a single, had a wooden plank under the springs with a four-inch foam mattress. The most uncomfortable bed ever. The other guests also complained that their beds were very uncomfortable.
Ideal for relaxation, rest and closure.
The most beautiful surroundings imaginable and wonderful accommodation on this guest farm. Walking routes well marked. Will definitely go again!
One of the nicest places imaginable to stretch out and enjoy nature.
Beautiful scenery and fairly easy walks.
Perfect location. Beautiful people and animals.
Leave enough time for the journey and preferably do not drive in the dark because the condition of the road.
The farm is very clean and neat and the dogs are the best part of the stay. When you go for a hike, the dogs are your companion and they show you all the easy routes which I thought was very cute. I loved seeing the bushman paintings and the beautiful waterfalls. The gravel road to the farm is really not very good. Lots of potholes and very corrugated. I drove with a 4X4 and I struggled to get there. I drove some areas in low range. Normal cars will really struggle to get up there.
We had a very nice stay. The dogs were my and my boy's favorite. The pool was fully utilized. Everything is extremely neat and clean. The only thing is, the owners might just have to put in their ad that it's an hour long dirt road drive at a dangerous pace and that there is absolutely no signal.
The surroundings at Gifberg are breathtakingly beautiful, many rivers, pools and hiking trails. You are completely away from any city bustle. Just be prepared, the route there is something else, we were expecting it and it was very nice!
The accommodation is clean and tidy. The hiking trails have the most beautiful scenery.
The ideal place to rest and recharge your batteries. The fresh mountain air is very special.
Gifberg had glorious days. The signs are all over the place.
On the website they mention there is a dirt road and the mountain pass which is a dirt road is not a problem. The view is simply breathtaking, but once you are on top of the mountain, there is still a long way to go before you get to the farm and this road is almost suitable for a 4x4 route. We were in a 2x4 van, but it took us 45-50min from the farm to the town. But the biggest disappointment is the beds. They were old bunk beds (not a problem) but the mattresses are so thin, you feel every plank on the bed.
Since my last visit, the resort has deteriorated a lot.
Bathroom and toilet doors cannot close, due to doors swollen with water. Inconvenient for guests who were together.
Was cold, but beautiful with all the rain and waterfalls running. Leave the low car at home, it's a place for vans or SUVs.
We enjoyed the super clean and will come again, thank you.
Good farm atmosphere and rest for the soul. Nice environment.
The host went out of his way to make us feel at home, going beyond our own expectations, by allowing the family to watch the World Cup soccer final in his very own home.
It's a rather rough stretch of road to Gifberg, but worth it over and over again. Our unit was well equipped and we could go for nice long walks in a beautiful field and beautiful mountain streams - relaxation for the soul.
Everything you need to relax with nature.
The peacocks came to waste a bit on the porch and we struggled to get them away from the house. It made for some nice photos though. The temperate climate.
Nature is beautiful, safe to walk around in nature.
The house (Tuinhuis) we stayed in was very large, very spacious. Bedding, pillows and everything inside nice and clean. Extra blankets and heater. Indoor fireplace in kitchen and outdoor barbecue on the house's porch. The nature is picturesque. Every stargazer's dream. Hiking trails are challenging but a great adventure. Without the dogs, Pieter, the lab, and Yorkie, we would not have been able to find our way. Many caves, waterfalls, climbing and climbing and the bushman drawings are beautiful. WiFi only available around the main house on the farm. Great escape from the hustle and bustle of life and cell phone hysteria. We ventured there in a Toyota Starlet. As long as you are a skilled driver, and don't rush, then the road is doable with incredible scenery. The receptionist on arrival was very grumpy and didn't seem happy to see us, but it still can't spoil a very nice stay and beautiful place for us.
The area is beautiful and it's nice and quiet. Accommodation is clean, but not spotless. It's comfortable, but I've had more comfortable ones. The people are friendly, but could be friendlier. Nogstans I will go again and stay there for a week. Just for the environment and the tranquility.
Quiet beautiful surroundings.
Very nice hiking trails, there are also 4x4 trails!
The location of the holiday farm is beautiful. Situated in the middle of nowhere, in peace and quiet surrounded in nature. The accommodation is well equipped and clean with very friendly cleaning staff. We truly enjoyed our stay especially the pool and the braai areas at each house as well as the loving and friendly dogs. The pass is extremely unexpected, bare in mind to travel light if coming with a car but strongly advise to come with a 4x4 or off road vehicle as the pass can be steep at 1 point and rough mountain driving for the last few km so be prepared.
See stars.
Didn't have hot water the night of arrival and couldn't get hold of anyone. The next morning we had to make a plan! They then came to check and fix what was broken but we had to leave early and showered at the campsite which also has water pressure problems as the campers informed us. The road to Gifberg on the Gifberg Pass is breathtakingly beautiful.
A lovely location on the plateau of the Gifberg, we stayed in the Kliphuis. All very comfortable and clean. It is a working Rooibos tea farm, you hear equipment running and staff, we were there during the week. There are several hiking trails to explore the surroundings and vegetation, then you are on your own.
Beautiful place, nature at her best. Breathtaking hiking routes. (We were not impressed with house we stayed in. Old, decrepit furniture, loose tiles, cold atmosphere). House was neat and everything we need was available.
The nature takes your breath away. Nice calm food for the soul. The house was a bit cold especially in the kitchen where we had to hang out because there was no other area for hanging out.
Buildings well sited, but the highlight is the well-designed walking trails provided by the host.
Scary mountain pass. Didn't spend much time on the farm, didn't do any walks. The area was beautiful though.
I would recommend it for sure. We really enjoyed it. Will definitely go back. It is so beautiful there. You can't describe it. So peaceful, quiet and wonderful! No signal so you can really shut off from the outside world. Most beautiful hiking trails with the best guide dogs, Lara and Pieter, who wait so patiently while you explore. Thank you very much, Gifberg team.
Baie lekker ervaring, die Gifbergpas is so pragtig. Staproetes was 'n goeie ervaring, baie om te sien. Ons het lekker gekuier by swembad. Huis was baie gerieflik, netjies en skoon. Die grondpad het ons bietjie gepotjie: vol klippies. Sal veiliger en makliker wees om met 'n bakkie of 4×4 te gaan. Maar overall was dit die moeite werd!
Beautiful surroundings. Very beautiful and peaceful. Gifberg Pass is beautiful.
Unfortunately we could only get accommodation for 1 night. We enjoyed it so much that we will definitely be back for a longer visit.
We did not expect such beautiful walking routes. It is reminiscent of Bourke's Luck Potholes in Mpumalanga. Definitely worth visiting.
The surroundings are wonderful and wonderfully remote. We found the hiking trails exceptional. The views of Gifberg and Ouberg Pass are breathtaking. The staff and management went out of their way to meet our needs.
Despite the drought, it was a great experience. The tranquility of nature was wonderful.
A beautiful place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Hiking trails, waterfalls and silence. Farm dogs walking together. Unfortunately, the service is rather impersonal and not particularly friendly, although quite effective.
We and our 4-legged child really enjoyed the hiking trails and swimming spots. Hiker's dream. We will definitely go again! P.S. Take a pick-up truck or tall vehicle for the dirt road up the mountain. There is also no shop nearby so pack everything you need for self-catering.
On a farm but the road is bad. Didn't know it was so far from Vanrhynsdorp. House very basic. All the facilities are there and provided wood.
It was one for the books. Nice place and with the most beautiful view. Suited place to recharge your batteries.
Lovely to stay on a working farm. Beautiful location, between the mountains. The drive over the Gifberg Pass is fantastic! One of the most breathtaking passes yet. The cottages are basic, don't expect any luxuries, but are well equipped and everything is functional and clean.
The farm and surroundings are very beautiful. There is a lot to see and do.
Surprising destination at the top of a spectacular pass. All amenities available. Accommodation was perfectly adequate. Nice beds with lovely clean, soft linen. Good value for money.
We loved sleeping under the rock with the bushman painting, so open, free, quiet and enjoyed the ruggedness. The hikes are magic and bulbs exquisite.
Accommodation very basic but more than adequate. The Oppie-dek Restaurant is a hit. The walking routes are clearly laid out and there is something for everyone - from the fit to the unfit and lazy. Will definitely visit again.
