This was our first visit to St Helena Bay. Our stay at Goblin's Inn was very comfortable, and the beautiful view of the bay from our room was an added bonus.

The only thing the shower was not very warm the Monday morning and the shower was blocked.

Although everything was clean, it was shabby. Neat reception down the street - wasn't even aware of that and the hostess didn't say we had to leave the key in the post box there - so guessed after she mentioned the previous day she was staying down the street. Didn't respond until 45 min after my text. The appearance creates a neglected and run-down impression.

Smell in place, no electricity the next morning (forgot to buy pre-paid electricity) and television from housekeeper's room was very loud until after 22H00. Smell in room was awful.
No kitchen, but equipment. No bedside tables. No storage space for suitcases and personal items.
No attention to detail. Add a mirror to the sink and place for suitcases.

The guesthouse is directly next to a bar with music bothering late at night. No aircon in the room. It was 34 degrees.

I had a wonderful, peaceful week at Golin's Inn. The view from the balcony to the sea is incredible. The service provided there was excellent and very friendly. I got value for my vacation.
St. Helena Bay is probably one of the safest places in SA! Definitely worth a weekend visit! Goblin's Inn provides neat accommodation in a very quiet street very close to the sea. There is a coffee machine, sugar and Cremora, but if you love tea and milk - remember to bring your own! More than enough double and single plugs, a small fridge and microwave are provided. Dear, friendly receptionist. The little office is just up the street, about 3 or 4 houses from Goblin's Inn itself.
Our room was attractive, well maintained and equipped with a nice sea view. However, the room was next to a "so-called restaurant" that made loud music and noise every night until 2am every morning and until 3am on New Year's Eve. We were not prepared for this at all and think the owners should have warned us.
I specifically asked if the bathroom was private. The sliding/swinging doors cannot close or lock properly. When you go to the bathroom, the swing doors are half open. The bathroom is right next to the part where you take your food etc. must work We were scared to go inside because the place outside is neglected and doesn't look good. It needs outside attention. The room's window has no curtains, so you wake up early in the morning with the light shining through. There are broken windows everywhere.
The place in the pictures is not the room we got. I gave up my accommodation and went to another place, despite the money that had already been paid. Would never recommend the place.
There is smoking in the rooms for sure. The decor is very old. The safety is also something that will not make me stay there again.

We asked for self-catering and according to the pictures and information on the internet we were supposed to have it. There is a fridge and grill in it with regular butter knives and cutlery. There is no sink to wash dishes, unless you do it in the bathroom between shaving and brushing your teeth. There are no knives, cutting boards, 2-plate stove or microwave to make breakfast. That's what I want to do with self-catering. The braai area is open for everyone to use. You have no privacy. The bathroom does not have a door and not everyone is comfortable with open doors for toilet and shower purposes. In general, the room is very nicely furnished and I like the uniqueness of each room, but it's definitely not a self-catering if you consider that you want to make breakfast, cut meat with fruit in the evening and eat without putting it on the bed or toilet.
'En Suite' bathroom as in description is misleading in that there is only a single separate bathroom. This contradicts the "en suite" definition. Filthy lounge sofas; refrigerator that had not been defrosted and cleaned for a long time; large unused articles, such as cable reel and a large black filled bag (with unknown junk to us in it) by our back door; hanging cupboard door that was hinged loose and dysfunctional; extremely dirty shower floor which also reflects poor construction; no curtain at one of the largest privacy-infringing windows; a door between this unit and the adjacent unit about which nothing has been mentioned in advance (breach of privacy); no protective covers on any of the mattresses; well-used unwashed sleeping pads that did not smell or were clean, the majority of which were without protective covers; a sink rim that has been very poorly repaired; floor tiles so damaged do not belong in a unit rented at a reasonably expensive rate; there is no carpeting in the unit; so there were also no information or service documents for our inspection in the unit. The sea view photo is misleading as it is only the first floor that can enjoy this.
We were on an extended West Coast vacation. This was our last night. Decided on this precisely because of the beautiful photos. Big disappointment. Neglected. No curtains in front for privacy. Noise and movement right next to the apartment with little privacy.
The rooms are very neat and fully equipped. It was obvious that it is still a work in progress but it was acceptable. A bit expensive but the space and the nice braai area makes up for it. Also close to the beach. We will definitely be back.

We were kindly received and the unit was tidy. View was very nice. The stairs to the top have no railings and are therefore unsafe. The TV had no signal. The windows by the bed do not have blinds or curtains, so the room was not dark enough for a good night's rest. The coffee was not refilled for the second day's stay. Unit does not have a refrigerator, and the caretaker gave us access to another unit with a refrigerator to store our food. Unfortunately, some of the food had disappeared by the next morning. No proper restaurant within walking distance. The local bar/restaurant right next to Goblin's Inn was noisy until late.
What I paid for in advance is one bedroom. What I got was at a different destination with a different name. It was simply a car port size with a bed and a shower. Had to wait an hour to call someone to be helped on arrival.
1. Rubbish bin was full of rubbish from previous guests. 2. Only a bath towel per person - no face towel. 3. Next to Goblin's Inn is a "PUB" (Sunshine something). Noisy till after 03:00 in the morning - creates very bad atmosphere right next to Goblin's Inn. 4. No signage on the building - couldn't find Goblin's Inn. 5. Could only park car on the sidewalk - unsafe - especially with drunk people next to Goblin's Inn.
