The place doesn't look like the pictures inside. It is smelly. The fan was not working and tied up with a cable tie into a bulk. The tV remote doesn't work. TV too high to change channels. Bathroom you must be so careful everything is loose. Thanks, but no thanks. I have stayed at a lot of places same price. 80% better. No glasses only 1 teaspoon. And the reception area? Come on, really?
I booked 2 rooms, one double room and one room for 3 persons. On arrival the lady gave us 2 rooms with double beds. I explained that this is not right and the one room must be able to take 3 people (the 2 rooms are the same and the price difference was R300). After that they offered an extra bed for R450, I refused to pay it and showed them the accommodation confirmation. After another struggle they took us to other rooms without bathrooms and we have to share a bathroom with other people, again I mentioned that I already paid for rooms with en suite bathrooms. After I got the owner's no. could get and spoke to her on the phone and expressed my unhappiness, they were able to rectify the situation - with unhappiness on both sides. If the guest house was fully booked, it would have presented a dilemma. If the guest house was fully booked there would not have been enough parking within the premises for all the vehicles. The people who were there had to park each other just to get the vehicles in the premises for the night.

We were very kindly received by Ivy. Room was neat. It was conveniently located near Nasrec Center where our function was. Enjoyed a deliciously filling breakfast on Sunday morning. Will definitely stay there again.
Ivy is very friendly and helpful. The rooms need a good cleaning, fan did not work, sink is loose and shower has black mold. Breakfast was pleasant.
The accommodation was dirty. Rats in the room. Bedside lamp screen torn. Beds wobbly. Cushions lumpy and torn. Mattresses obsolete. Sheets dirty. Not enough towels and toilet paper. Breakfast poorly prepared. Food poor quality and not enough for the amount of people staying there. Salt and pepper containers dirty and sticky. Not enough tables and chairs in the dining room for all the guests. Reception dirty and very unfriendly. Only interested in our money which we should have paid immediately when we arrived. Didn't see management again for the next 3 days. We feel that Gold Reef Place Guest House should not be on the website's list of accommodation. It damages your name. They advertise that they are a 3 star accommodation but are not even worth 1 star. We paid little for the accommodation, but at least expect clean and tidy accommodation. Get them off your books. The other guests were also very dissatisfied. Everyone agreed with their own experience.
Many thanks to Wayne and Dawn who went to great lengths to make our stay at Gold Reef Place pleasant and comfortable. Will definitely support them again in the future.
We stayed here one night to attend a concert at Soccer City. The room was very small but well equipped with a fridge, TV and fan. Neat and clean and nice bedding and comfortable bed. Location is close to Soccer City and the yard is secure.

I visit UNISA in ormonde yearly for the trade show. Have stayed at various places, but in future I would rather stay at Gold Reef Guest House.

There is everything you need and it is very centrally located if you are looking for a place to stay near the FNB Stadium.
Well what can i say about this place? It's not bad. The people are just very unprofessional! I booked 4 outside rooms for my family and some friends, but when i got there they wanted to accommodate us in a house. So i was quoted for something that i didn't get. We had to drive back to the Free State that same night, after the One Direction show.
Wonderful, helpful staff who even helped us with transportation to and fro in the area. Thank you.

We loved the fact that the venue was close to Gold Reef City and accessible to many other places we wanted to visit. It was a pity that there was a large group of men staying at the accommodation who felt the need to drink and make a lot of noise until the early hours of the morning. Our room joined theirs and the noise could be heard through the walls which means privacy was an issue. But the staff were super friendly, and they made a great breakfast. The room was clean and all our winter requirements were met. Thank you!!
Our stay was fine, except for not having DStv in the rooms, but the place is great!
Gold reef place is in a great looking and safe area. The place overall is neat. We had fun and the staff treated us with a lot of respect.
My wife loved it!
We were pleasantly surprised. A really lovely cottage. We felt really comfortable especially with a young boisterous granddaughter.

Overall good place. My only problem was with ants in my child's room and in our toilet. I assume it is because of food spillages.

Although the room did not have any air-con and the TV channels are limited, Gold Reef Place can be recommended as good 3-star accommodation.

The service was excellent. The owner went out her way to accommodate my family (2 adults and 2 kids). Staying at Gold Reef Place was real value for money, as it is very close to most of the tourists attractions in both Johannesburg and Soweto.

It was safe, clean, the owner was very helpful.
It was quick and easy to check into our rooms. A key to the room and to the dining room was given as well as a remote for the gate. It was a good stay. Just the bin needs to be fixed. The night light outside could be adjusted a little lower as it was super bright when trying to sleep.
I had a wonderful stay and hospitality and i enjoyed
