Lovely big house, needs a little attention but otherwise very nice visit. Caretaker very quick to attend if problems arise. I will book again for sure. Will just make sure owner paid attention to "maintenance". I would also recommend that the Estate's caretakers pay some attention to the main entrance.
Johan, the caretaker, is very nice and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Was WiFi listed as part of the amenities? There is no WiFi available though. The cleaning services were also excellent, can recommend it.

Was a little disappointed that the smart card we took with us could not be used for the Springbok game. The two fridges were not 100% and there is no wifi.

Our stay was very pleasant, however there were bats that got in and made it uneasy to sleep at night.
The host, Monica Brits, was very helpful. This was my first time at a self-catering place where toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, and dishwasher tablets were not provided. Please include this information in the advertisement so that people are aware. It has been a struggle to get my breakage deposit back. I only receive short responses or no response at all. I have asked for the proof of payment as it was supposed to be transferred to my account on Wednesday, but I have not received a response yet. I demanded an immediate transfer when I arrived. The Jacuzzi water was dirty. Despite these issues, we had a weekend of fun and were not too bothered about anything else. We had a good stay and a good night's rest. The place is nice overall.
I've stayed at pretty much every place in Orkney Oord - and have seen the decay increase over the years. The Golden Mile house was my honor and really enjoyed that our whole team could all stay and visit under one roof. There are some TLC things but would definitely book the place again.
The area is very beautiful, the house is nice and big and can be nice for a big gathering and visit. It's just a shame that the place is falling apart and drastically in need of some "TLC" and maintenance. There are 3 bathrooms, but the bottom one does not have hot water and the toilet does not flush. So you have to take a shower upstairs and those stairs are not easy to climb for someone who is disabled. Upstairs, only one of the bathrooms has water pressure, so we only had one bathroom that worked where we could take a hot shower, in a house that sleeps 14. The house also needs a good cleaning, especially in the kitchen. You still smell the previous people's food in the oven and microwave, it puts you off a bit, we didn't want to cook. The indoor grill also smells like they had a grill there the night before and it hasn't been cleaned. We just closed the braai, didn't want to look into it. The house really needs a good cleaning and maintenance. I know there was a water problem over the weekend which couldn't help Golden Mile before Orkney Vaal. But one can tell when a place was last cleaned yesterday and when it was decently cleaned a while back.
We enjoyed having this one, but it's sad without activities.
There was only a problem that we could not turn on the geyser and stove with the Jazzuci with the result that it takes about an hour to prepare food and wash dishes and in that time we cannot use the Jacuzzi and the water gets cold again. Otherwise we had a very nice stay and there were plenty of things to keep everyone busy. However, we are still waiting for our key deposit to be refunded and it is now 13 days later.
The pool table and social area was a winner with all our Nampo guests. Johan and his team provided good service and were always available for questions or help. We will do it again! The people did only mention that the linen looked a little neglected.
The time was very nice. We especially enjoyed the jacuzzi.
The house is well furnished, clean and tidy. Everything worked, even the dishwasher. Johan had been very friendly and helpful. Throw in the fishing rods and enjoy the braai area.

A very nice holiday home for a large group of friends. Just make sure about all the additional costs that are not part of the accommodation. Golden Mile is really good value for money, the only negative on the stay is the caretaker who is not always available to enter the gate, he has to open it for you. The accommodation costs also do not include the use of the Jacuzzi, it has to be paid for additionally, not as specified on the advertisement, finally the "breakage" deposit is also partially returned, it covers the cleaning costs if you leave for the day, which is a bit strange.
We payed for the Jacuzzi, but the water was cold for the whole weekend and we could not use it. We had to call each time for the gate to be opened because we did not have a remote to the gate. The iron and ironing board were locked up and we had to call Johann to to use the beds. Needs an upgrade.

We used it for a family gathering.
It was our second time there. It's a very nice, spacious house, but needs a lot of TLC. But with a little attention it can be a better experience.
The house was very dirty especially the furniture. The bedding is worn out and very old. Two plates on the stove weren't working as well as the Jacuzzi, we kept being told that someone is coming to fix these issues numerous times and it was never done.
There are enough facilities for everyone and enough space to hang out. There was also plenty to do and keep everyone busy. The river is walking distance from the house and the men caught good fish. We had a really nice stay and didn't want to go back home. We will definitely visit Golden Mile Orkney Vaal again and highly recommend it to anyone young and old. It was definitely the nicest getaway weekend.

Stunning home with more than enough space, excellent value for money.
Johan welcomed us very kindly, and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and that everything was in order. He also immediately came to see if anything was not right or out of place. He made a lot of effort and made us feel truly at home. With a heavy thunderstorm we were a bit cramped in the house and there were leaks here and there in the ceiling, but I understand that they are in the process of fixing it. Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend. I would book the place again for a weekend anytime.

Our stay at this accommodation was pleasant. The place definitely took our breath away, we were impressed with all the facilities. In addition, the caretaker was quite helpful but the disadvantage is that we still have not been refunded our breakage fee as promised. We have spoken to him about this numerous times about the matter but still no money has been paid. However, our overall stay was pleasant and I would definitely recommend this place as a good opportunity to escape from reality.

We had a great stay, the beds are very comfortable and the caretaker Johan helped us very well. It was just a shame there weren't the swimming facilities as mentioned on the website and the Jacuzzi couldn't be used either seeing as it tripped the power. A little attention is needed as the poles did not have cushions on them and there were 2 and a half darts, so the activities could not be fully enjoyed. A standing fan would also be appreciated, especially for the upstairs room. These are all small things that can be sorted out very easily. It had been a lovely weekend.
The house is spacious, well-equipped and ideal for family get-togethers. We would definitely recommend it and use it again ourselves.
