180 guests' feedbackGousblom Gastehuis is very basic, but it is clean and comfortable. It is good value for money. There are no pictures of the bedrooms and that would have been useful. We did not like the fact that there was only a flimsy curtain separating the shower and toilet from the bedroom. The hostess, Corrie was very friendly and helpful.
Clean and tidy, reasonable price.
Very nice stay.
Hostess was very friendly and accommodating, provided lots of information and good advice on where to go.
Yes, the hostess made the stay absolutely worth it.
Elizabeth could not have been more helpful.
The accommodation was good with breakfast and friendly service.
Room 5 was allocated to us. I was uncomfortable with the fact that the room opens directly into the dining room. The tables are directly opposite and next to the door. Would not recommend room 5. WiFi password is not shown anywhere. Had to ask. Other guests asked us. We and other guests did not know that meals were available if booked in advance.
Hospitable. Clean. Delicious food.
My stay was fantastic. After a long journey we could kick off our shoes, shower and sleep peacefully. Our reservation went through as a room with 2 single beds. We brought to the attention of the staff that we asked for a double or 3/4 bed. They were very friendly and helpful and a room with a double bed was offered. And we definitely slept well.
Gousblom Gastehuis is excellently located for staying and especially for the flower watcher. It is affordable, safe and spacious. A nice and typical Namaqualand experience. Friendly people.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay. Room was nice and big and comfortable. Received very hospitably and Tannie Corrie's farm food was absolutely delicious.
We had a room in the house. Unfortunately, there was another group of children who made a lot of noise. It was completely out of the control of the hostess who hit us.
Well-appointed guesthouse and facilities. Quaint, old-fashioned decor but a comfortable room for an overnight stay.
Nice but did not meet expectations.
No, the host was unfriendly and unwelcoming. The facilities are outdated, including the toilet not flushing well. The WiFi is slow.
Had a good night's sleep but although clean the self catering unit was very dated.
Accommodation was safe and clean.
Aunt Poppie cooks the most delicious farm food. Very quiet and homely.
Poppie is an excellent cook with the most delicious lamb neck, vegetable and potato dish. We slept cozily warm and enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning at pocket-friendly prices. Will definitely stay there again.
We had a wonderful stay and talked to everyone where they saw flowers. Aunt Poppie is ready for everything and everyone despite her difficult walk. Thank you Aunt Poppie. We appreciate everything aunty does.
Aunt Poppie and her dear husband with their genuine farmers, salt-of-the-earth humanity are fantastically over. Poppie's cooking is one of the best we have ever experienced, she will beat the top chefs anytime.
See stars.
The rooms are nice and big and very clean. Would recommend to anyone interested.
Very nice guest house with warm sleeping facilities and braai facilities.
Friendly and good food.
The hostess immediately realized that my wife would not be able to bathe with her medical problem and made another bathroom with a shower available. Their meals were exceptional and her knowledge of the area helped a lot so that we could drive the right roads where the best flowers were to be seen.
Old world experience as well as meal. One tip for the entire community, guesthouses, businesses, church, municipality is to jump in together as a team during flower time to take care of the roads. A scraper can be obtained and roads scraped. Never experienced so many potholes in dirt roads.
Had excellent meals - dinner and breakfast. Had problem with load shedding.
Friendly and helpful reception by owners. Unit is clean and adequately equipped for an overnight stay. Quiet and safe.
The guest house is well situated right in the town.
Poppie Mostert was very hospitable and her staff very helpful. It was very central and ideal for flower viewing. Will stay here again.
Good average accommodation.
We had breakfast there once and it was good. The one time we enjoyed dinner was special. We could choose the main course between chicken, lamb chops or whole lamb neck with vegetables. Real farm food. All the guests chatted comfortably around the table and were able to exchange information about each other. The room was very cold and it would be nice if electric blankets could be provided. Linen and towels are a bit tired.
Good breakfast. Comfortable lodging. Braais could be upgraded, rusty.
The place looks as it should look on Kamieskroon. Don't expect too much. But the people had been very friendly and helpful.
It was only a one night stopover for us. Parking was tight during a full reservation. Self-catering room/unit was well equipped.
No security in the parking area. Lots of stray passersby walk around the neighbourhood, leading to safety concerns about the property. The carpet had clearly not been vacuumed, leaving bits of dirt on my clothes which touched the floor.
Although it is quiet in the year, owner must provide for the unforeseen. Power was off from 16h00 until we left the next morning. Couldn't use WiFi and shower.
The managers are very friendly and tried hard to make us feel welcome, but she just keeps making excuses for everything. Nothing works. The power trips every now and then. My husband later went to turn off some of the switches so that the power just stays on. We were told that when there is no power there is no water, but in the morning there was power but no water. We couldn't even make coffee or brush our teeth.
I did not get the unit I booked. It is very very small.
No interaction from owner, we had to contact her, she was not even present, her sister left keys for us in a place. There is no, but no place to eat or buy food. Very big disappointment.
It was very neat with very friendly and helpful staff. They also serve dinner and breakfast at a very reasonable extra cost. We took the breakfast and enjoyed it very much. We will definitely stay here again when we come to see flowers.
Hospitable, tidy and exactly right for the environment.
Friendly reception. Pleasant resting place to explore surroundings during flowering time.
Good value for money. Had a nice stay and ate.
Will definitely stay here again. Friendly and value for money.
The cook was excellent with a traditional African dish and both the hostesses were friendly and helpful, with stories from the county.
Gousblom Gastehuis is well situated for flower viewing and we were very kindly received. The unit was neat and well equipped and met all our needs. We will use them again.
We stayed 2 days. Hostess was very friendly and helpful.
Because we only stayed a short time, I can't really elaborate on the guest house. The guest house is well equipped and tidy. We were kindly received.
Friendly receptionist always available.
Stayed one night, guest house old, furniture old but was ok for one night. Wilina is a wonderful hostess.
Bed and duvet can please. be extra length.
The residence needs a lot of attention and maintenance.
Booked 2 single rooms and then had to share a room with 2 beds.
Grossly overpriced for what you get.
Just stayed one night and had a great time.
It's our second time using the accommodation and certainly not the last time. You can't be that close to nature. Thanks again.
The place is well located, giving you access to quite a few trails. The N7 also passes by the place which quickly connects you to other centres.
Food was excellent.
Wilina's hospitality promotes togetherness among guests. Strangers leave as friends and everyone shares recommendations. One day the entire neighborhood had no electricity. As a result, there was no water in Kamieskroon. It was communicated in advance and handled very well. Delicious meals!
I would recommend this venue.
Rooms were comfortable. Hist knew the area around resulting in seeing the most beautiful flowers. Food was good and well prepared.
If you can, book for dinner, it's a winner! Nice bedrooms, most air conditioners work. all very helpful and friendly. Go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Thank you very much.
Very friendly welcome.
Nice clean room in the house. All the rooms were rented out. Everyone hung out together.
We only stayed overnight and the manager was very helpful to help where she could.
People are hospitable and felt safe.
My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at Gousblom Gastehuis. Thanks to our friendly hostess for a very comfortable and affordable overnight stay. PS: Had a great meal at the Kliphuis Kombuis!
Satisfied as a place to stay.
Saw beautiful flowers and there were several routes to ride.
We had the whole house to ourselves. Neat and safe.
Was not aware of our arrival, but luckily was able to find a place. Received very kindly and had a nice chat. Feel at home there.
See stars.
Got a good plate of peasant food which made life very easy for us.
Although we received a warm welcome and everything was neat, the house and furniture are a bit worn-out.
Hospitable reception with good information regarding where to go see the flowers. Room was spacious and neat.
Friendly reception.
Friendly staff, clean and well maintained.
The option of dinner and breakfast was particularly welcome, especially since I arrived quite late. It did not seem as if Kamieskroon would have offered a dining opportunity.
It is a large house in which rooms are rented out. Rooms are comfortable. Our en-suite bathroom only had a bath and hot water only at certain times. Quality of breakfast can improve.
The electrical wiring was inadequate and dangerous, such as power plugs that were inserted into the tiles above the sink and bedside lamps that had to be operated from there with extension cords. It is substandard and not according to municipal regulations. The mirror above the sink in the bathroom was too high to see your face and there was no other mirror in the room.
Take a nice shower. Bed old and creaky. Not serving well.
We slept nice and warm, but customer service was not to our liking. The place is unkempt. For example, the doors close with difficulty or not at all. The power kicks out because plugs are too heavily loaded and extension cords to stoves etc. are installed. The fridge in communal kitchen did not work.
The food that Poppie served was top notch, even though there was no power or water in the town when we spent the night there.
Does not have self-catering per room. Has shared facilities for all the units. No coffee or tea in room.
This is a typical small town facility. Was acceptable for overnight stay.
It was fun and reminded me of dorm days. Nice and quiet and no problem.
Friendly people who look after you with all the means they have. Kamieskroon needs more accommodation like that.
No TV, 1 small heater on request. Parking unprotected on site. Power plugs dangerous and inadequate.
It feels like our mother's house. Wilina's care is the best. Feel free to visit and don't miss the farmer's food.
Both the manager and staff at Gousblom Gastehuis were friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to ensure that our stay was comfortable. On enquiry the manager kindly referred us to both Murasie and Klipwerf Kombuis for tasty meals in relaxing surroundings and different routes we could take to see more of the beautiful flowers of the region. Her love for the area and its amazing flowers was palpable. On her suggestion we visited Namaqua National Park. Her input contributed towards our enjoyment and appreciation of the magnificent flora of the region.
A terrific spot in the middle of Namaqualand - ideal base to tour around the area.
On top of the floral beauty of Kammieskroon, we had a great time! Thank you everything was great.
Had a great time, I'll come again.
Guest house is in a good quiet neighborhood and there are walking possibilities. Room is well furnished and bathroom is comfortable. Thank you very much Marigold
Our car broke down and Corrie and Wilina could not have been more kind, helpful and generous. Could not have been more helpful.
Centrally located, very tidy and warmly received. Both the breakfast and dinner were tasty and promptly served.
We were kindly received and immediately felt at home. We could freely use the kitchen and braai area.
Hostesses were particularly friendly and helpful.
Als in the house is like a farmhouse. The furniture, the atmosphere. Grandma busy in the house. Food cooking. Smells like peasant food on a coal stove.
Very nice stay. The finish/maintenance needs some attention.
If a larger room and kettle and small fridge are provided, there is nothing wrong!
Description of rooms not quite up to date, got a bath but would prefer a shower. Asked for rooms as close as possible but were very far apart. If the description was correct, one room instead of two will be sufficient. Nothing was mentioned about Wi-Fi, would like to use it.
No TV in room and air conditioning was not functioning properly, air conditioner remote control also had no batteries.
Your first impression of the place, even from the street, and more so when you enter the dining room, is that the place is old and shabby. Room 5's finish is poor - the painting was done by an amateur years ago. The sink's one faucet is not attached to the sink and if you try to open or close the faucet, the whole faucet first turns a little. The mattress is weak - should have been replaced years ago. There is an empty TV cabinet in the room that just takes up space. It serves no purpose. The water supply works from a pressure pump and it is impossible to balance the hot and cold water supply in the shower. One moment you are burning and when you turn the taps a little it's just cold water again. The staff were very nice and helpful - they made special custard for us one night when it was already time to go home. The food is excellent - breakfast and dinner.
No WiFi available and one bedside lamp did not work.
See stars.
We only overnighted for one night - but did want to braai and didn’t get to that facility, unfortunately.
Room is neat and very spacious, although totally impractical. There is no work place or chair available in the room. If one wanted to use a computer like that, one had to do it in the dining room. There is a common lounge with TV (who watches what?) available. Dinner was good country food - just a real shame we are non-smokers and although there are no smoking signs in the rooms, the hostess smoked in the kitchen and the whole dining room stank of smoke so much that the food had a hard time going down. No hot water was available the next morning and we had to settle for bitterly cold water. When we reported this to hostess when she arrived much later, the explanation was that the power "tripped". We only stayed one night instead of the two nights we booked for.
Accommodation was perfect. Kettle and cup were dirty with ants in them. The window in the bathroom looked out into the kitchen which was uncomfortable. The receptionist was already gone by the time we arrived. The other residents were very helpful in helping us. Apparently there are no keys to lock the room doors. R600 was an incredible amount in our opinion, but we needed everything we wanted.
Don't know how the rest of the guest house is, but room no. 7 was a disappointment. In the kitchen there is no work surface to prepare food. No bread knife or bread board. The people next to our toilet are directly behind our stove with only a window in between. So you hear everything they do there. No one can see into the mirror in the bathroom. It's very high.
We enjoyed our stay at Gousblom. Felt very safe. The rooms are neat and clean. The only problem we had was that the mirrors in the bathrooms were positioned for people over 7 feet tall - way above any of our heads! We were there at a time of severe water restrictions, but this did not detract from the experience at all - we were all just very careful with water, and appreciated the supply of ice on our signing-in. Doreen and Luna make great hostesses. Thank you. All in all - a comfortable place to stay whilst viewing the flowers.
Had a lovely warm room.
We had a nice stay, good and friendly service. Food was superb. All that bothered was that there was no mirror in the room, that would be a welcome addition.
We were warmly received by Willina, who also served us delicious peasant food. We had a nice spacious bedroom with an old copper bed, with air conditioning. Old fashioned atmosphere.
Thank-you all the staff at Gousblom Gastehuis for all what you did for us when we stay at your place. Best info centre you can asked for. Meals better than a 5 star restaurant.
The manager was very helpful, she could even help us with dinner seeing that all the shops in town were already closed.
Dated accommodation, but with all the amenities required for a good night's rest and the host is extremely hospitable and makes one feel at home. I can strongly recommend supper and breakfast (on request) ─ the food was very good. Book early in flower season as you might not get a room.
See stars.
We traveled back home from Namibia. That's the right distance to cross the border and be able to travel on the next day. Many thanks to Wilina who provided dinner for us at very short notice after Kamieskroon Hotel did not want to accommodate us. Think the option should be given to guests that meals can be provided with enough advance notice. Outside of the flower viewing period, no restaurants or coffee shops are available that provide meals.
The guesthouse was very clean, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms tidy. The meal they provided us was delicious.
Ideal place to view flowers from.
The room was spacious and neat and well appointed. Reception friendly and efficient. Door to back porch of main unit is not sound proof. The fence is low and we were concerned about the car standing outside, but trusted that the environment is different from our usual city environment and nothing went awry.
It is situated in the heartland of the wild flower area and across the road from Skilpad National park
The facilities are a bit primitive for the price. Nice and spacious, sufficient for self-catering.
This accommodation offers basic amenities.
We stayed three nights in the self-catering unit. Very friendly hostess and staff. Floors and bathroom were cleaned every day. Extra toilet paper is provided and clean towels every day. This is excellent service. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner. Unfortunately, the bed is already hollow and the base lumbar. The front door drags hard on the floor and the broken box with the sloping top also detracts from the place.
Good reception. Delicious meals. Will recommend the place.
I will definitely book with them again in the future.
Room number 6 with twin beds has a very small shower room. However, the hostess kindly moved us to Room 5 for our second and third nights. This room has a large en suite which was much more convenient. The breakfast was freshly cooked to personal preferences.
Only stayed one night but found the accommodation to be excellent, clean and tidy. Wonderful value for money as a stop over. Kitchen facilities more than adequate.
It is especially the hospitality of the staff that impressed us. When we really wanted to have dinner, the most delicious plate of cooked food was served to us. We would have preferred a shower over a bath but did not order it that way in advance. Wiliena, the manager, was excellent.
We were very happy with our stay. Everyone was very friendly and the accommodation was neat and clean. If I can make one suggestion, and this is not a negative criticism at all, the Cape has a water problem so take water with you to help them.
The lady who received us was very helpful, comfortable and friendly. We had access to a living area with a tray where our little one could keep herself busy. The room was big and tidy. We asked for dinner and breakfast and were terribly spoiled with ample and delicious food and pudding! We would recommend it for sure.
The hospitality is top notch and an incredibly tasty breakfast. The one room's bedding, although spotlessly clean, is very old, thin and the pillowcase was chipped. Luckily there was a spare pillow that could be used.
Accommodation is average, but the added benefit of breakfast being included and evening meals an optional extra, is a bonus.
Room is clean and comfortable, although simple. We were received very kindly and had the most delicious dinners.
It was a lovely stay and the lady that helped was extremely hospitable and willing to accommodate our short notice requests.
See rating.
Neat accommodation with all the basics. Nice accommodation if you want to experience the wildflowers.
Excellent supper. Good service and friendly people.
Our accommodation was clean and comfortable. Our host was extremely helpful and very pleasant. It was a good overnight stop on our way to the Orange River.
Thank you for the kind welcome from Wilna. She also prepared the most delicious dinner for us on the last night. The staff's friendliness was also noteworthy.
Warm welcome, lovely breakfast and pleasant stay.
See stars.
We were the only guests in the big guesthouse with various rooms and had the whole facility, total privacy, at our disposal. The manager Wilina was very hospitable and helpful and all was clean and neat.
The lady welcome us but never introduce her as the owner or the manager Gousblom rooms are clean and comfortable , the toilet in our room had a water problem but she provided us with 5 liter bottles of water to flush . We enjoyed a nice home cooked dinner .
Everything was clean. It was just too bad that when we got there, there was no one to receive us. I emailed the owner the day before to confirm our arrival time. It was not passed on to the student. Finally, after a few calls, a lady let us in. I had to drive to buy milk for coffee. We had bacon and eggs without eggs the next morning.
Kamieskroon is a small, sleepy village not far from Namaqualand. Accommodation Gousblom is outdated, but clean and safe. The manager provided a great dinner for us, the only guests, because the flower season is over.
Exactly what one expects from a small town. We were welcome and well received.
En suite bathroom was small and inconvenient and unprivate with only a curtain.
Basic, clean facilities at a basic price. Urgent upgrading of all amenities will be beneficial.
The guest house included breakfast, and the breakfast was good. One day the town had no water, but provision was made for drinking water for the guests.
Met ons aankoms was daar net een kamer bespreek en daar is nie gereel vir aandete soos aangevra nie. Die dame wat daar werk het toe inderhaas aandete gereel en vir ons n kamer gegee.
I would not want to stay there again.
Gousblom B&B Guest House was a disappointment for us. Gousblom advertised that it had only one self-catering unit and when I made our reservation about a month before our visit, I specifically asked for it because my husband has a special diet and so we always stay in self-catering. The booking was confirmed. Upon our arrival, the manager (not the owner) informed us that the self-catering unit has already been occupied by a person who made a booking a long time ago and who regularly stays there. She told us that the owner said she had to put a small stove on the counter in the room that was used as the dining room for the guests and we could put our perishable goods in the fridge in the same room, but it is also where the guesthouse's goods are stored. The manager was very helpful and apparently very embarrassment because I was not happy, but it was already late in the afternoon and very cold and we didn't have the energy to drive back to Springbok. But to our surprise, 3 more couples arrived and were under the impression that they had booked the self-catering unit. The one lady was terribly angry and demanded that her deposit be refunded and they were gone. The other two couples also stored their perishable goods with ours in the fridge. I have already reported this situation to LekkeSlaap and the owner replied by saying that we and the people in the self-catering unit were the only people in the guesthouse that night. It's not true because that night there were 12 people at the table for dinner. We didn't want to prepare food in the dining room with so many other people who had to eat there too, so I also ordered the meal and we gave my husband some of his leftover food from the previous day. We feel that the owner did not act in good faith by accepting our booking knowing that the place has already been booked. We feel deceived and will not go back there. I hope future guests will not be caught in the same trap. The highlight for us was Wilima, the manager's willingness to accommodate us and the good company we enjoyed with the other guests that night. Otherwise, the guesthouse was okay and unfortunately on our second day there was a power outage for the whole Namaqualand from 6 am until just before 10 pm. It was beyond everyone's control and fortunately for the manager, it was only us that night in the guesthouse and we used our own portable gas stove to cook for my husband and I had dinner with the managers. The other people were still in the self-catering unit.
Aircon does not work, plug above sink very dangerous, cupboard is crooked, too afraid to put something on it or take something off e.g. glasses, one TV in the house with several guests does not work. Not everyone wants to watch the same channel.
Kindly received. The room was ok but the shower and toilet were constantly dripped. Nothing to do in Kamieskroon and did not feel safe either.
See stars.
I'm not one to complain normally, but this was shocking. We arrived just after 2pm and there was no water available! Couldn't use any shower, toothbrush or toilet. Throughout the night we were left like that and even the next morning we were told that we could not take a shower. It is clear that nothing is being done about the problem. Nothing is said until you get there and your money has already been paid and you have no other option but to stay. Furthermore, there are not even enough chairs/seats for everyone in the guest house and you have to sit on your bed! Extremely poor and extremely disappointed!
Very bad and not worth the money. Ran around for space for us. Placed in a room, all of our clothes are lying on the floor because there is no space to hang it. Owner needs to pay more attention.
House needs some maintenance - nothing serious.
Beautiful accommodation for a reasonable price. Everything was nice and clean!
Very friendly, hospitable and tidy. Very nice cooking dinner served.
Clean, tidy, but basic.
Gousblom Guest House on Kamieskroon was a "run-down guest house" that had seen better days and definitely needed a lot of TLC! The place was clean and tidy and we were received very kindly. The meals we ordered were also flavorful, we ate well and the staff made a lot of effort, thank you very much!
