65 guests' feedbackLovely house! Very well equipped and comfortable. Loved the side patio area for morning sunshine and afternoon braais. Loved sitting on the front porch and looking at the world passing by. Very comfortable beds and great hot showers. Only small issue was that the thermostat on the oven doesn't work well. So rather plan to use the airfryer or microwave. Hope to be back soon!
My kids don't know farm life and this was the best way to show them. It was the best ever. My children enjoyed every moment, especially the horses that come to visit at night.
Relaxing and peaceful. We loved sitting out on the stoep with a beautiful view of the mountain. It was close enough to walk into town, and the accommodation was very comfortable.
We really enjoyed our stay. Everything is there, no suffering. Even if the load shedding is there, but we didn't suffer, we were able to cook.
We had a great stay and rested. The house has a warm and homely atmosphere, with everything you need and is very centrally located.
It was comfortable with everything we needed. Perhaps a battery torch would have been good for load shedding. Children can't walk around with paraffin lamps.
The stay at the guest house was great. I would recommend it. It is centrally located and it's just a few minutes' walk to the Greyton Village Market. There is ample space for 6-8 people, and the house has all the conveniences and appliances one would need.
Had a great time. The fact that we could take our dog with us is an absolute bonus. The horses were also a treat because not everyone has the opportunity to get so close to them every day. The master bedroom bathroom could use a little upgrading. Also had a great time on the stoep, although the weather didn't quite cooperate.
We had such a great time in this very well-equipped house. Perfect for just getting away from busy city life and chilling by the fire while overlooking the centre of town. We would have stayed another week if we could.
Quiet, relaxing, water canal, horses in the town, as well as a horse that came to visit and eat in the garden.
Lovely spacious home with beautiful wood floors! It was particularly hot this weekend, there were fans available! Aircon would be great! There are electric blankets on each bed - and a fireplace - which will be very nice in the cooler months!. Kitchen is well equipped. The braai area is very cozy. The house is right opposite the market that takes place on Saturdays. We will definitely stay here again.
Accommodation was very comfortable, with everything needed, very well located in the heart of Greyton close to everything.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was a cold and rainy weekend and we spent our time around the fireplace. It was so cosy and warm.
All necessary amenities and comforts. Very satisfied with our stay! Thank you. Could've provided more candles/lighting options for load shedding - or if they were available, it wasn't obvious where to find them.
We enjoyed our stay in this spacious, clean, well-equipped house which is centrally located. Although, some aspects need some care to raise the standard. Karin was great with regular communication prior to our arrival. The gas stove is also a plus with load shedding.
The house was conveniently located, well equipped, clean and largely comfortable. The owner was friendly and helpful. The garden and house could do with a bit of a makeover and we occasionally had a noisy generator from a neighbour. Otherwise, it was good.
It might be a good idea to have tea, coffee and sugar available. Otherwise we had a very nice stay. Just be aware that small dogs can slip out of the yard, there are a few places by the gate at the garage where they can crawl under.
Just off the main road, with a view of it, and the mountains beyond. Close enough to the main stretch for everything to be within walking distance. And just far enough back for peace and quiet.
Beautiful house, love the layout. You don't need to drive anywhere, you walk from home to the whole town. Stunning MTB and hiking trails. Really worth a visit. The house is great value for money.
Nice and safe, good value for money and clean.
We were looking for a relaxing laidback weekend away and we got one! We loved the spacious house we stayed at with its wrap around stoep area, lovely for all including children and a doggie. The house is also close to the popular Saturday Market and we could walk everywhere. The restaurants are great too. Next time in Greyton we would definitely book the same house again. Thank you, to our friendly Hosts!
The visit of a herd of horses was the icing on the cake for the children.
Good location and adequate facilities. Few small things that need attention which we pointed out directly to agent. Nothing serious.
The only issue I had is that we were told that we could leave at 2pm the afternoon. The day we were supposed to leave the cleaner came at 10am to start cleaning. She said we had to leave by 1pm. It just made everything awkward and it made us feel a bit like we being kicked out. Other than that it was a lovely experience.
The house is nice and central and you can walk wherever you want to go. It is neat, spacious and comfortable, while the sun room and the verandas spoil you for options where you can drink a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Many thanks to Karin for her advice and support during our stay. We can't wait to go back!
A very homey, relaxing environment that feels like visiting an old family home.
House is well equipped (also with washing machine and dishwasher). It does lack maintenance, DStv does not work and the garden is not safe to keep pets in.
The location was absolutely perfect, the beds clean and comfy and the kitchen well equipped. We loved our stay.
The house behind the church, which is like a parsonage with a covered porch three quarters around the house, comfortable furnishings without any pretension, available facilities including barbecue outside and fireplace inside, and real lock-and-go. One small problem: 4 days were too short to explore everything properly in Vader's time.
The guesthouse had everything we needed. We only had to take food and our towels. It was clean and tidy. During the winter months maybe more wood should be provided. We will stay there anytime again. Thank you for introducing us to this gem.
We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again.
Very comfortable house. Perfect location and very good value for the price. We will definitely stay there again.
We, that is my wife and I, and the family really enjoyed having the big house to ourselves. Grandson loving scooting around the wraparound "stoep".
Delicious, relaxing visit with all the necessities.
We had a great time in this house with its old world charm and trendy jacket, with all the amenities needed and well located to explore the town on foot and just opposite the Saturday market. Greyt House is clearly a home for the owners and you immediately feel at home there, thanks also to the friendly directions and information. By the way, we were very grateful for the electric blankets and fireplace on the porch on probably the coldest weekend of the winter. Snow lay thick on the mountains.
Very nice stay. Location is great, centrally located. Beautiful garden, beautiful house. Looking forward to the next time there! All worries disappear when you drive through the gates and park your car.
The property is excellently located. It was not once necessary for us to get into a car until we had to drive home again. The house needs some attention here and there, but everything was very clean. The garden needs attention.
It is very spacious, perfect for social distancing and perfectly situated in the village. A big thank you to the owner and manager of the house who go the extra mile to help you with anything you need. Will be back for sure.
The house is slightly expensive for what you get. Very basic. But still cozy and a great location!
The house was so quaint and sweet, perfect for a group of friends. The location was brilliant, right in the middle of town. Great value for money. It was the perfect place to stay the night before we did the Greyton-McGregor hike as they allow one-night bookings.
The house has a great views and outside braai with a nice stoep where everyone can sit together. The comfortable beds are good. Will definitely go again.
Our host was always friendly, willing to please and attended quickly to queries. It was a privilege to stay in this lovely old house. Really enjoyed sitting on the front porch for breakfast and drinks. Our dogs were able to roam freely in the garden and they had just as much fun in Greyton!
We had a good stay and, considering the fact that it is a very old house (walls badly cracked with paint that comes off, windows and exterior doors that are badly rusted, cabinets that smell musty, etc.) generally many complaints or criticisms. Some lights were dead, a hot water tap in one of the bathrooms could not open and the mixer tap in the kitchen was broken and leaked badly. These defects were somewhat annoying, but did not greatly affect our stay. What is a major deficit is a second shower. The ad is misleading here. The ad is talking about a family bathroom serving the second and third bedrooms. I would say the logical deduction is that a family bathroom will contain a bath, shower, basin and toilet and not just a bath and the rest. We were six people who all preferred to shower and assumed there were two showers that were not the case at the time. It definitely was a problem. The fireplace was a winner.
This house is in the perfect location for a weekend in Greyton. Greyton was so cold the weekend we were there, but the beds had electric blankets and once the indoor fire was lit we all gathered around it in the evenings. Accommodation is basic, but the location is fantastic and our teens loved it as they could ride their bikes around Greyton from the house easily. The hosts were great and super in every way of communication. The boys locked us out of the house and they did everything they could to rescue us as fast as possible. We would definitely visit again.
This is a house with incredible potential and we really enjoyed our weekend. This home has a lot to offer, but we found it to be tired and could do with some paint and renovation. One of our guests saw a rat/big mouse running in the kitchen early Sunday morning (+/- 2 am) which disappeared under the fridge! Maybe the owners can look into this?
A Big and comfortable house with a good location. The needs to be renovated though. Some of the windows can't close properly and one of the fans didn't work. The fridge/freezer is too small for long stays. There were fleas on the one couch in the living room. A lot of flies in the kitchen because of the horse/cow manure on the gras by the back door because the fence is not secure and the animals can come in. The ceiling fan in the main bedroom didn't work. Our time in Greyton had enough things to do and the restaurants were great.
When we first entered the house, everything seemed fine until we started unpacking in the kitchen. The fridge was filthy and had not been cleaned from previous occupants. The deep freeze had spillage in, microwave wasn't clean and had food spills in. The dishwasher had been unpacked, but also had food spillage all over the sides. The bathrooms were much to be desired. The shower was filthy. The house was definitely not cleaned prior to our arrival. The only thing that was clean was the bedding. The gardener was there after we had checked the house and asked him to call the cleaning lady back. A different lady arrived and we were promptly told that they were not told that we were coming and thus didn't clean the house. This is unacceptable, we booked this house in August 2018 already. Furthermore, all the rooms had left over alcohol bottles from new years. We removed them all and put them in the kitchen. The kitchen was full of empty boxes. The cleaner should have removed all this rubbish. The house is in serious need of maintenance, cracked walls, broken mats, etc. In the main room, we had one light working. Surely this is supposed to be checked. The blind was broken and laying on the floor, which we put back up again. Fan broken, the list is endless. We paid a lot of money for this house and in terms of what we received, was definitely not worth it. One last thing, when I am on holiday, I certainly do not want to hear grass being cut, etc. I try and get away from it all, so having the gardener come and work while people are in the house is unacceptable to us. I understand he has a job to do, why didn't he do it when people weren't occupying the house?
I would definitely recommend Greyt House to people who want to find peace of mind. A neat, lovely holiday home with everything you need. We will definitely visit you again!
We were lucky enough to sleep in Greyt for three days. I could never understand how one could sit on a patio and do nothing, but in this house it was almost all I wanted to do. There was a very nice breeze that cooled us off. We took our mountain bikes and rode the trails around Greyton and would recommend the Genandendal walk.
We enjoyed the house because it is so cosy and very well located in the town. The accommodation is very clean and spacious.
Would recommend this to anyone, very central.
Everything was perfect, house was ideal for our family and the owner was very helpful and friendly.
Greyt House was perfect for our family: plenty of space, electric blankets and a fireplace, well-equipped kitchen and right in the middle of town. It's nothing fancy, but it suited us down to the ground.
We had a great stay over the weekend - the house is so spacious which was perfect with two kids and two dogs running around. We loved all the different seating areas - stoep, braai area, tree swing - and it was so peaceful sitting on the stoep and watching the world go by with those beautiful mountains in the background. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed and we loved the chess set and other games provided which kept the kids amused in the mornings. Easy walk into town or down to the reserve, perfect location.
Very nice stay. The owner communicated well and key arrangements were very well organized.
You don't need anything more than what this home offers, in terms of self-catering, to experience an unforgettable weekend in Greyton.
Beautiful view of the mountains. Thank you, nice stay.
Just what you need on a regular basis.
Comfortable and well positioned to enjoy the best of Greyton.
There are a few things that didn't work 100% and some cooking equipment in the kitchen that was unnecessary. Otherwise, it was a great weekend and we had a good time.
Our stay at Greyt House was simply sublime. The house is extremely spacious with lovely entertainment areas. The wrap-around patio is lovely for afternoon tea or evening drinks. The house is old, so don't expect modern furnishings. The place is, however, clean and tidy. The bedding is lovely! The location is perfect - you are walking distance from everything in town and super close to the amazing Saturday market. I would certainly recommend a stay here.
The Greyton House Self-catering accommodation is truly a lovely venue. Situated in a quiet street, though in the middle of the town, near the Saturday market, it is a lovely place to unwind. The house is very spacious with a lovely garden and old leivoor running through. We could even take our well trained house dog! Lovely bedding! Beautiful roses!
We had a wonderful stay. It was bitterly cold this weekend. Don't know what we would have done without the electric blankets. Thank you very much!
Thanks Karen for a lovely weekend. The house is beautifully equipped and ideal for a weekend away. Although it's quite old, it's very neat, cosy and perfectly situated. It's the ideal place for a holiday with a group of people.
