Doreen communicated very well before and during our stay and made sure we were comfortable. Unit was neat and clean with plenty of space. Although I knew in advance that there are no cooking facilities, I would recommend providing basic crockery and cutlery in the unit. Tea and coffee items are currently provided. Overall, I would recommend Groeneweide Guest Suite for both comfort and business travelers.

It was just a quick back-and-forth for the tennis (Match in Africa). We stayed very nice and had plenty of hot water to shower (5 people). The place is nice and clean. Quiet and peaceful environment.

The single beds' spongy mattresses were uncomfortable and gave my mother-in-law backache. The place is listed as a self-catering unit but there was no kitchen in the 3-bedroom unit at all. We were offered a microwave in a hanging cupboard in the master bedroom with paper plates and plastic knives, forks and spoons. A plastic sink was given to us to wash our dishes in the bathroom. There were no dish towels or wash sponges or dish soap provided, we had to buy our own stuff. We were told when we checked out in the morning that we were welcome to use the main house's kitchen. Doesn't help much when we're already checked out. We were told when we checked in that we may not take a shower for longer than 2 minutes and that we must first heat the water in a bucket which must then be used again in the toilet. Note that the shower has no water pressure and therefore not much water comes out of the shower head. My mother-in-law can only bathe, but when we checked in it was said that my mother-in-law, who is 74, must shower, but if she bathes, there must be little water in the bath. There wasn't even a bath plug provided and we therefore had to purchase our own bath plug so that mother-in-law could at least bathe. The single bed in the single room my stepson slept on made so much noise that he couldn't sleep and the bed was so stiff that neither my wife nor I even tried to sit on the bed because the thing would fall apart. We were told we were welcome to use the braai facilities but only had to clean up after ourselves, that's understandable but we had to do it with a plastic shovel and broom (hot coals and plastic don't work well together and there's no metal container either provided in which it could be thrown). There is also no light of any kind at the braai so we never braaied there either. Access to the unit was only through the sliding door in the master bedroom. My family also had to walk through it to get to their rooms. So I would like to know how a place can be advertised as a self catering unit if there are no kitchen facilities. The owner said the coffee station in the room is classified as a self-catering unit. So I ask again how one makes food for 5 people including porridge in the mornings with only paper plates and plastic cutlery at our disposal. The hostess told us that what we pay for the self-catering unit, we can afford to go out to eat every day. Food for 5 people per day if we had to go out to eat every day, you just work it out yourself.
