I just want to say thank you very much for your nice service and your nice kindness that we received. They treated us so well and were so kind. Was so nice, thank you.
Thank you very much for your help when we got stuck in the mud. It was an experience. Very kind hearted people. We will definitely visit again.
Thanks to Theo, Chris, Inna and Marinus for your hospitality. Really enjoyed it and recommend the place if you want peace and quiet. Take the game drive with you Marinus, very nice. Thank you, you really enjoyed it.
We really enjoyed our time and immediately felt at home. Played in the mud after the rain too.
Very nice! Enjoyed a lot.
We had a very nice stay.
It was a great 10 days and the staff was awesome, with hearts of gold. The treat to be amongst the nature life was awesome. Will recommend for couples and families to visit this place.
Grootgeluk Bush camp personnel were friendly and helpful. You however neglected to provide our contact details to the camp, as well as the camp's details to us. It was a nightmare finding the place with incorrect information from you. Please make sure that in the future both parties are supplied with contact details for the reservation to avoid back-and-forth phoning to try and obtain the correct information.
Nice stay and very hospitable.
Beds were very comfortable and blankets were available on request. Gas was not connected until the next morning and there was no wood for sale, but they made a plan for us, for which we were very grateful.
Very peaceful place, friendly people, wonderful nature recreation.
It was very nice and peaceful. The cottage we stayed in needs some attention. Light bulbs didn't all work. The air conditioner was not working properly. During load shedding there was no power in the cottage. The paraffin lamp did not have paraffin. The kitchen inventory was also a bit short. There were no small sharp knives. It needs some attention.
The weekend was very nice.
Very nice stay, quiet and peaceful and the wildlife is very tame.
We had a nice stay yes. There are just a few things they need to look at. There were not enough cutlery and glasses available in the unit. There was no gas and we had to borrow a bottle for the stove. The aircon was broken and not yet fixed. They may need to think about a light at the braai area. I must say that where the wooden houses are, it is perfect to see the animals at the pond.
The service is very good. The people are friendly and very helpful. Even helped where we got stuck on the way there. The access route is unfortunately a challenge, especially when it rains. You have to realize this is a forest camp. Some of the places are not very luxurious. So be sure about the place you choose. The Meerkat cabins are very basic and may disappoint you if this is not the type of accommodation you expect. The farm is very neat and comfortable and a good value for money option for a forest holiday.
I can recommend them if not staying in the Zebar houses. The house we stayed in is not safe for people to stay in. The house is falling apart. I will not stay there again. The house also only has the basic facilities. The bedding is old and not sufficient when it gets cold. Everything in the house is shabby.
No, only one bathroom/toilet for +-30 people. Wake up 03:00-04:25 by drunken 2 men rushing up and down with a van and shouting front and back and playing loud music.
On arrival, the manager did not take much notice of us when checking in. He complained about his ex-girlfriend on the premises. We had never met him before and were quite confused. He took us to the log cabin, but the gas for the stove was finished and he did not replace it. The electric kettle and gas kettle were dirty and could not be used. The bread knife and grater were on the unit check list, but there was nothing of this sort in the unit. The manager gave us their only small gas stove to use. The unit next door also did not have gas, so we had to share the small gas stove with them. The floor in the bathroom had a hole right through it with a small mat placed on top. When trying to open a curtain, the whole rail came off. The glass table was dirty and full of old crumbs. The shower is faulty. I do not want to go back here again, and I have already booked for December. Is there a way I can get my full deposit back?
I did not stay due to being utterly disappointed in the camping facilities.
The people were friendly and very helpful with anything we required or requested.
We just wanted to get out of the city for the weekend and relax in the woods and that's exactly what we got.
Thanks to Theo and team, we had a great time and enjoyed it a lot, you already miss the chats throughout the day and the friendliness of the staff. We have nothing to complain about and are already planning our next stay with our children. Theo and team surprised us with the help and to make everything smooth with the loadshedding that happened.
Lovely woodland atmosphere. Hospitality was good. Will visit again.
We have been going there for a few years now. We love everything about the place as well as the people there who run it. They go out of their way to make sure you having a great time.
Friendly staff, clean place, peaceful and quiet.
Theo Chris and Aunty Ina you guys are but the best hosts ever. You made us all feel special we really enjoyed our weekend and can't wait to go back. Oh, and Martienes you were amazing as well. Our walk through the field was one amazing thing about our weekend that our kids will never forget. Thank you guys. Seeing the animals right outside our door is amazing. Thank you guys again, a weekend well spent, well rested with the whole family. See you guys soon.
I can't get over how beautiful it is there. The staff are very helpful and their hospitality is of the highest quality. I will definitely visit there again!
Would love to see more for kids.
Very friendly people and nice place to rest.
Loved it. The boys could fish and camp while we enjoyed the peace and quiet. And of course our fur babies could come along. They had a blast.
Made a suggestion or two to the manager regarding rest stops in the woods. It would be nice to have something like that there.
The road to the site is a complete nightmare. After the rain, so many cars got stuck and had to be towed out.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and received help in need from the owner, when we got into trouble on the road. It is a wonderful place, peaceful and with great nature experiences. Its downside is the state of the roads to get there. It is probably to be recommended to visit this place in the dry season, rather than risk being caught in the rain on slippery roads. But we are very grateful for the extremely helpful staff.
Very peaceful place. The pitches were ok, but the pond is too small and there had been too many ants.
It was a very nice visit. Everyone welcomed us kindly and immediately offered service if we needed anything.
I was told that the premises was easily accessible with a small car before I booked. This was not the case as I ended up damaging my bumper. The only cars that would get there comfortably in the current condition would be 4x4's. Other than the road condition (was told it's because of the storms in the past weeks), very nice getaway place.
Quiet, cozy, cheap, bushland-like. Management is very friendly, helpful and hospitable. The prices of the little shop are cheap. Lots of coolness and the pool is also cool and shallow enough for children and older people to swim in.
Beautiful surroundings. Top notch hospitality. Will just throw a rock in for possible mattress replacements. Truly a place to rest and recharge your soul.
Had a nice stay and management was friendly and helpful. But: Didn't get what we paid for. On arrival we were told that Uilhuis was no longer available. We were then accommodated in cheaper accommodation. Cleanliness at cheaper accommodation (Zebra 11 and 12) leaves much to be desired. Fridge didn't work, swapped with another fridge which didn't work properly either. Air conditioner did not work. Congratulations Bush Camp must step up.
Grootgluk's people are very down to earth and informal. There is not much to do so it is absolutely just to rest.
Very friendly reception. An awful lot of effort and costs were incurred by the management to bridge load shedding and accommodate us. Environment is beautiful and wildlife in abundance was the highlight. Privacy in Impala homes. Wanted to stay longer.
Long and ugly road in, but once you get there, the world can end.
Apart from the quality and condition of the accommodation and the super good customer service we received, the staff make it an absolute feast to be there.
It was a very nice getaway. Congratulations, we will definitely see each other again. Thank you Uncle Theo.
Staff went out of their way for us.
Very pleasant place. Will definitely go again.
Very safe and nice getaway for couple.
Karen had already called me the morning before I drove and offered to upgrade me from camping because it was so incredibly hot and dry there. I explained that my son and I have asthma and are allergic to the thatched roofs and dust that usually gets trapped there, and don't have the finances for chalet accommodation. We drove through and upon arrival she and Piet persuaded me to rather make use of their offer to stay in a chalet, at no extra cost! They were really very helpful, carried me on their hands and walked the extra mile or six for me. We will stay there again, maybe only when it is a bit cooler.
Aunt Karen is very nice and made it so nice and helped.
Please update the website directions. We got horribly lost and it caused a miserable start.
Had a great time, was very tidy and the hospitality made us feel very welcome.
Neat units and premises. Quiet and beautiful nature.
Only one problem, the power was off, got power from generator at times.
Friendly reception. Nature calm. Sufficient facilities to make stay pleasant and relaxing.
The road was very wet and difficult to drive, otherwise no problems.
Very nice place to get away for a weekend. Would like to see more animals in the camp.
Neat facilities. Excellent customer service. Warm and cozy bed sheet. Each a separate braai place. Will definitely go again!
Please notify people of the condition of the roads as to mud with rain. If we had of known the state of the roads we would not have wasted our time coming through in the wet weather.
Saw beautiful animals. Very friendly people there. Will visit again. If the dam is pretty clean.
We went to get away and unwind from the daily hustle and bustle, and really appreciated the peace and quiet. Theo and Andre are wonderful hosts, could have a nice chat. If I can only make a recommendation: Curtains in front of the large glass door would be good, so that you have privacy after you shower and get dressed. The curtains in the bedrooms also do not close the windows well, and are already a bit worn. It would be nice to come and train there with a group.
You will see me again for sure. Clean and tidy place. Theo you made us feel very welcome. Thank you very much for a nice weekend. See you again soon.
We had a rainy weekend, but still had a great time. On Sunday, everyone from Grootgeluk had a barbecue together. Piet and Karin (Host and hostess) are people people and quickly helped and sorted. Would love to visit again, without the rain.
Out of their control but may need to get generator or get solar power.
The staff is very pleasant. They are very shortchanged by the owner who does not provide to make stay pleasant for customers. Owner has poor attitude towards complaints about problems. No store. Ablution block insufficient. If lights are turned off during the day, there is no power at points at stand. Waste. Part of road very bad on the way in and out. Distance +- 25 km. Nearest town +- 40 km, but the staff very helpful, park is great, animal watering place in sight, peaceful, quiet, despite problems I enjoyed a lot.
The Lock Cabin's in which we stayed need actual maintenance and better kitchen equipment, as well as better bedding, No WiFi available in the cabin where we stayed.
We had a nice bath, shower, slept and swam. I would inform the guests ahead of time about the long and sometimes muddy road to the camp. Our little, low town car did not enjoy it. Then it must be said, Theo was of otherworldly help to us, from dragging the in-laws' car out of the mud to lending us salt and pepper. It was a very pleasant visit.
If one wants to live in a shack, one can go there. In the Sable there is no sink to wash the cups, much less dish soap or cloths. The only chalets that were after something were the Kudu but also less than minimal. There was no shop to buy anything or restaurant or DStv/TV as advertised. There is only ice and wood. The places need proper attention. Yelling at the workers and with people on the phone is not very pleasant. There is nothing to do there except swimming. Don't pay R450 for a game drive to see nothing and we were told that too. All you see are the farm animals and the dogs walking around. I will definitely not go here again! Driving through the township which is filthy to get there does not make a good impression.
Awsome service. Neat and comfortable.
My daughter and I enjoyed our stay and loved the bush and wildlife there.
I was terribly spoiled by Grootgluk. Their service was fantastic and we all enjoyed ourselves! Everything we needed was at our disposal. Fantastic getaway and atmosphere. Theo and Brendan did a lot for us and made everything even more fantastic!
Four of us booked Kudu cottage. We were moved to Zebra log houses. What a fantastic 4 days. Close to water hole, close to animals, and my dog could do it all with us, up to game drives. It was a wonderful experience. Thank you very much Congratulations Bush Camp.
Theo is a great host!
Would like to come back again.
The hospitality I personally received from you was far beyond my expectations. I had a problem with my car when I arrived and could not drive out with it on check out. The lodge was kind enough to allow me to leave the car overnight. I truly appreciated your hospitality in allowing my kids to continue with a swim while I was trying to get the car repaired. Bear in mind this was long after my check-out time! My boys had such a fantastic time that they even told me we must come here each time they have school holidays! Our cabin was very well-kept; we went on a great safari, the lodge manager was just fantastic! Thank you very much, we will definitely be back! Keep up the great work.
I will renovate the wooden houses a bit, they are a bit neglected. But otherwise we can't complain about the place. We really enjoyed it and will definitely go again and refer someone to Grootgluk. Reception and others very helpful and friendly. They keep the places tidy at all times.
Excellent service! The environment is clean and the nature and animals are beautiful and healthy. The cottages were clean and equipped beyond expectations. The pool and hiking trails were lovely. Game drives are available. We as a family with friends really enjoyed the gem! We had a great time relaxing and plenty of animals to look at.
Go on a break with your family.
See stars.
Really enjoyed and would love to go back again.
Grootluk is quiet and one can really switch off from the hard life in the city.
It was relaxing, with the farm animals close to the accommodation and friendly service offered. Everything needed was in the chalets. Best boma for braai. In addition, all the wildlife that can be seen is a stone's throw from the chalets.
It was really very very nice. Everyone from owners to workers are very friendly and helpful.
Unpretentious and unpretentious with hospitality we haven't experienced in a long time. We arrived as visitors but left as friends. The silence is sometimes overwhelming but ensures a little peace of mind. It's big enough to keep the kids busy, but just the right size to ensure that no one tramples each other to death and no one can enjoy themselves. We were privileged to see the giraffes, zebras and other wildlife drinking water at the dam, and thanks to Theo who drove us to feed the waterbucks. For our daughter it was an incredible experience to be able to get so close to wildlife without having to sit in a vehicle. Thank you very much again for an incredibly nice visit.
The manager's service is very good and he interacts very well with customers and is very helpful. The place is ideal for getting away from city noise and hustle and bustle. Has everything you need. I do recommend the chalets with air-con in the summer.
Very nice place to just relax, friendly and helpful management. Can see the wildlife up close. Place needs some work.
The service from the driver was excellent. He was very friendly and often asked if everything was okay. There are some things that could be fixed like the trampoline and maybe more things for kids to do. But overall it was nice in the bush and very peaceful.
There is enough room for game but cattle and sheep are kept.
Did not get the 2 bedroom Sable Chalet (for medical reasons) advertised on the website that I booked and paid for and that without any prior notice or warning that it is no longer available. The chalet could have been cleaner and some extra glass bowls (for cooking food in the microwave or salad) and better pots and pans would also have helped. The rest was very pleasant. The people are very friendly and the environment is beautiful and safe.
Trynie and Stefaans are the most hospitable people ever. They went out of their way to help me and my little girl, assist and make us feel comfortable and at home. They make Great Luck Bush Camp what it is. Thank you very much, what a nice weekend.
If it's possible I was going to go every weekend, but unfortunately I can't. For sure would love to go back again.
It was safe and perfect.
Will definitely visit again.
Good value for money if you are looking for a Bushveld experience. We were welcomed by Servaas who makes one feel at home.
We are coming again soon.
Woke up with giraffe in front of our little house's window. 3 of them grazed there. Zebras and goats come to drink water at the water hole while we sit on a bench and watch. At night, the night monkeys were jumping around us in the trees. Very peaceful and nice short walks.
Quiet environment. Basic amenities available. Quiet.
Was only warm, the silence was heavenly. The canteen can expand a bit for the necessary. And look at the people who throw out their hands when they are drinking. Maybe look into another pool and pond. my son enjoyed it but there were a lot of hyacinths in the pond.
The shower in our place was dirty. Short of a very good cleaning. The rest of the place was great. Was there for a wedding and unfortunately didn't spend much time at Grootgeluk. Wish we could visit a little longer and explore the place more.
It is very quiet and peaceful. The unit we stayed in was outdated, the bedding is old and the bed was broken. Some upgrades needs to be done as a matter of urgency. Will be nice to have your own toilet at the unit and bigger fridges seeing that you have to bring your own meat, drinks etc. The management was very helpful and can only do so much but needs the owners' support to make changes and implement the ideas they have.
Affordable weekend getaway. Will go again.
Accommodation poor. Not suitable for 4 people for 5 days. Bed was incredibly uncomfortable. No comfortable chairs to relax on. Dust needs to be replaced urgently. Make it clear that a 4 wheel drive vehicle is required for off-roading. Got stuck and didn't receive help.
It's a forest camp. Don't expect the amenities of a lodge. Thought that cottages from Nyalakamp each have their own bathroom.
Very nice place to relax. Servaas and Trynie are very friendly and their dog Bakkies made our stay even brighter.
The peacefulness and the bush is fantastic.
I will definitely go again. It is so peaceful and the friendliness and hospitality is some of the best ever!
I would recommend the place to anyone, peaceful almost like a holiday.
The campsite is neat and clean, would definitely recommend it. Host and hostess are very friendly and warm. We felt right at home!
Was a very nice time in the forest. First of all, perhaps the advertisement should be more descriptive, especially regarding the "nyala camp cottages where we stayed. The units share an ablution block. No running water (must bring in jugs). No electric kettle (must make fire with pea boiler and buy wood at R35 a bag). No microwave (no heating facility). However, it can "not" be classified as a self-catering unit, as it "Doesn't" have the basic requirements for a self-catering unit, cannot cook without taking your own equipment, unless you do it over the open fire. The paraffin dust that is available, we also had to ask for "fuel" otherwise we were stranded! Maintenance on the spot not a wish: sinks and taps loose in ablution blocks. Beds steps apart in eland houses. Toilet water runs continuously otherwise you have to open and close the stop tap yourself. Lights in the bathrooms were off the first night, after we asked it was turned on, and then burned all day and night (no switch which we could turn on and off ourselves).
The wild animals came close to our house and we could stand on our porch and watch them. The night life was also something special. The night owls also came to visit us. It was nice to sit together around the fire and talk (Bos TV). Will definitely go there again.
It was very pleasant. If I were to upgrade something it would be the ablution facilities in the campsite. Showers did not drain and water tank was empty, so toilets could not flush. It was less fun. And toilet pipe was leaking, so toilet water on bathroom floor and it was unfresh. But other than that it was very pleasant.
SP, the manager went out of his way to make our stay and visit as pleasant as possible. Good job SP!
Breaking away from the hustle and bustle, total tranquility, clean chalets, felt so peaceful. Nice, very nice. Will definitely go again. The manager was very friendly and helpful.
The accommodation was good and I would recommend it to any family for a weekend break. The pool was also very nice for the children.
Quiet and friendly staff. Thank you, have fun.
Was so beautiful and peaceful and felt rested. Animal life so beautiful. Gert went out of his way to make sure that everything was right with us. Pool was nice and cool and will definitely go back to the place.
We were very warmly received and it was really a nice and peaceful weekend. I think they might just have a look at the mattresses and the kitchen's equipment other than that it was really off the books.
Host was extremely helpful and friendly. Was very happy that my dogs could go along. However, bathrooms need TLC. Bath mats are provided but not washed daily. I personally would rather leave it out, because with a lot of people walking over it how many times a day it can't stay clean. Guests can bring something like this themselves. I just picked it up and threw it in the corner every time I went to take a shower. But having said that I am a real pain when it comes to ablution facilities. But otherwise I can't wait to go again.
The place is not fancy, but ideal if you want to break away from the busy city life and experience the Bushveld. The communication and reception were top notch. Thank you Servaas for your patience with us.
We were given full instructions ahead of time on what to do to enter the property. Upon our arrival, everything was tidy and I must say the tranquility was very nice. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. Biggest asset there. Ablution facilities need attention, especially the taps and shower door. The double bed needs a new mattress. There was not much to write home about game watching.
Prices too high for what you get. Staff had been very friendly. Definitely don't go there in the summer, and if it rains you can't drive a regular vehicle on the dirt road.
We booked the Nala chalets and we phoned them to confirm and to hear what we must bring with just to be told that the toilets and showers are not working and we can't stay in that camp. On arrival they put us in the Zebra camp. There was a lot wrong the the place. Holes in the floor of the bathroom that you could see the ground. Every morning we woke up to no water and we had to phone to find out what's happening. Then my husband fell through the deck as the planks are broken and he hurt his leg.
The forest camp has some of the best customer service I have ever experienced and reliable staff. I have and will tell my family and hunting friends about the wonderful and pleasant holiday bush camp. Thank you.
The place is very quiet and the garden is well kept, the room was clean and neat, the swimming pool sparkling clean, it was cleaned every morning. The staff was friendly, the owner/manager very friendly and helpful.
We really enjoyed our stay and would also like to commend the host as a very helpful person with a very good heart.
For a good rest, peaceful and beautiful experience I will recommend Grootgeluk Boskamp. Beautiful animals in the camp and the most beautiful star-filled sky at night. The host couple is also the most helpful people we have encountered.
Many thanks to SP for your hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed the break.
Lovely farm place with different animals. You can go for a walk. They also have a nice pool. The garden is very well maintained. And they have free WiFi.
Best holiday spot ever, very friendly service, very neat, we felt so welcome at reception and the people were very helpful, awesome place for you and old, so peaceful you can see yourself just getting lazy here, you don't even want to make the effort to yawn, awesome awesome place.
We were warmly welcomed with a smile after a long drive. Everything we forgot and needed was given to us without hesitation. We felt very at home and will definitely break away again if the city life becomes too much.
It's such a beautiful camp and the giraffes make it so special when they come to greet us in the mornings. Will definitely stay there again. Would just appreciate it if they serviced the chalets too. Don't know if it's optional.
We enjoyed our time and the children made nice discoveries in the forest. SP and staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit again.
Had a wonderful time with nice and hospitable people.
Very calm. It's the place you want to go when you don't want to do anything. The dirt road is a little rough when it rains, but the owner is more than willing to come and help if you have any problems. Naboomspruit has a problem with power, so pack extra lightly. The log cabins could perhaps be upgraded a bit. Our only problem is the water pressure in Zebra cabin 11. The water in the shower is either too hot or too cold, especially when the gas geyser is used. We were guaranteed that they would work on the problem. Even with the water problem we will definitely go back again.
GrootGeluk is unbelievably peaceful and perfect for a getaway. It was wonderful to be in such quiet nature. Would recommend GrootGeluk to anyone looking to get away from the city. Great prices and great accommodation.
Nice place to rest and relax in nature.
I was warmly received. A nice place to rest.
We really enjoyed the weekend. The staff were very helpful. The children enjoyed the pool.
Grootgeluk Boskamp is neat and peaceful. Our Meerkat unit was neat and clean with all basic necessities for a nice weekend getaway in the Bushveld. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rates are affordable. One can go there every weekend! We could walk in the field, water a line in the pond and have a nice barbecue under the stars. Congratulations we will definitely see you again!
We enjoyed our weekend. It was refreshing to find a place that was both quiet and could accommodate a group of friends that just needed to enjoy and reconnect with a bit of conversation. Very easy to find and you never have any problem with their staff or the management.
Hospitality. Calmness. Value for money.
The establishment needs maintenance.
It was very nice, people were very friendly and it is very nice that you can also take your animals with you. Will definitely go again.
Friendly reception.
It is a beautiful place but a lot of attention will have to be given to the buildings and especially the ablution block for campers. It was very disappointing.
I did not know that the Njala House did not have their own bathrooms and showers. There was only a fridge with power. Everything had to be made on the fire. There are no tongs. Maybe just tell the people. Game drive was 450, maybe a bit much, there is not much game. Giraffes 3, nyalas 5 and a few zebras.
A false impression has been created for accommodation and what is offered at R800 a night. The ceiling which is taped and wants to fall, also the shower which is in a terrible condition and doesn't work. Waterhole did not offer any wildlife due to owner's dogs chasing all the wildlife away. No walking paths or wifi or bar as indicated on activities.
It was wonderful and especailly because our doggies could come along.
Such a nice stay. Excellent service.
We stayed in the Zebra Log Cabins (we were 4 people) and we enjoyed every single moment of it. It was nice and quite and relaxing, and would go back to Grootgeluk any time again. Oom Ben is one of the nicest people you will come across, always willing to help and always has a story to tell. The staff is friendly and the animals are beautiful. This was just a very nice place to stay.
The tranquility of the forest is all you need to relax. The service from the staff and management is excellent.
We had a very nice stay. Walked a lot and saw beautiful wildlife and birds. The dirt road was very corrugated and our car was damaged at the gate due to the ground level being much lower than the gate's track. Wynand and the workers helped and tried to get us mobile again. However, damage was worse than anticipated and we were helped by friends in Naboomspruit. Other than that the weekend was lovely and we would love to go again.
Had an amazing stay. Calm atmosphere. Very nice and helpful camp manager. Will definitely go back.
Would just like them to consider the number of people who booked. We booked for 8 people and there was only cutlery for 6. It was pretty awkward having to wait til one person finishes his coffee before the next person can have a coffee.
Quiet and peaceful, educational and insightful. Not enough to do for younger children and teenagers. Suggestions: donkey cart rides, putt-putt and ball games. Very poor cellphone reception.
The road to Grootgeluk needs to be maintained. When it rains, it is inaccessible without a 4x4. We got stuck twice and had to ask for help to tow us in. Otherwise the accommodation and service was enjoyable and good.
The hopsitality and nature with its relaxing atmosphere is unbelievable. We really enjoyed it and will definitely go back.
Was very nice! Will come again.
If the wooden houses receive a proper upgrade, it could be a very nice weekend getaway resort.
The photos don't provide a clear impression of camp layout. Kudu camp is a separate, enclosed camp, Zebra is located more in the bush away from main camp, we stayed in 1 of Zebra's 3 log cabins and it was great, but would differ from person to person. Kudu is by the pool and perhaps more ideal for people with smaller children. This place is ideal for a family getaway. Ben was very friendly, helpful and bakes delicious bread. He also said he would ensure that the photos were upgraded. The linen was clean, but only basic, take blankets with in winter time. Do not expect 5-star, but everything is there to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
We had a good time camping. The units are neat and it was lovely to be away from the city in nature.
We had a great time relaxing, although there is not much to do for young people. The cabin was clean and tidy but not very well equipped. Attention can be paid to the bathrooms.
On arrival we were assigned as 4 to stay in 2 tents. After a while we were able to prove we had booked a chalet. Checked into the chalet later that day. No facilities in the chalet, 1 room with sleeping place for 4, nothing else. Ceiling looks like it's going to fall out. Ablution facilities look bad and could not turn on lights in the evening. Was disappointing, not what I would call a chalet at all. Looks like there are other neat chalets on the resort. As long as chalets have their own kitchen and bathrooms it shouldn't be too bad. Separate ablutions look bad.
The place was okay, after we sorted the problem on our reservation.
Die plek lyk en is niks soos op die website. Die plek het aandag nodig en die air-con werk nie, die yskas se deur moet jy toe hou met 'n stoel.
Rather, it's a place for men. Not a campsite with children. The campsite was full of thorns and dust. Instead make more chalets and use them for hunters! Better than for camping.
Swak swak swak!
Had no hot to shower. Kitchen is not well equipped. Website says there is a bar with DStv and a small shop. None of that is there. Will not stay there again for sure.
From our arrival to departure we were treated superbly by Ben. He helps with everything and cares about his guests. Will definitely visit again.
We will visit again. Our night's rest was not very good, because the mattresses were a little done. Thank you very much.
Very nice stay. Uncle Ben was very helpful especially with the instructions he just texted us. For a bunch of city jays, the visits of the turkeys, giraffes, zebras, cows and donkeys were something special. We also had 2 guard dogs who were all too at home in our wooden house. We went home with one of the two's little ones.
Quiet, relaxing, no TV, poor cell phone reception, just what the Doctor suggested. Great, great! Will definitely go again, often!
It's the woodland. If you are looking for a well-deserved rest, this is the ideal place. We were there as family and family members and the service was great. Ben, the manager was available at all times to attend to our every need. The units are clean and equipped with everything needed for a bush camp and more. The air conditioners are a big plus in the terrible heat wave we are currently having. I would recommend every person who loves nature and silence. The game drives are an adventure and a wonderful experience, especially the night drives. The place is truly an oasis, gardens and lawns neat and pleasing to the eye. Congratulations Bush Camp see you again. Many thanks to Yolandi and Ben for helping us with extra accommodation at the last minute. You are wonderful people and speak our language. Keep it up you deserve 10 stars. Oppi-Nipperki see you as a group December 2016.
What an experience, and the staff are so friendly and helpful! Would recommend to anyone. If you're looking to stay in a five-star hotel, this won't be for you, but if you're a bush person, it's definitely worth it. Will definitely go there again, it's a walk in the woods, relax and "just let it go"! Here you can recharge your batteries like no other place!
We enjoyed it incredibly much. Real bush experience with more than enough civilization for "mum". The men could go fishing and the fish kept them busy. I could read my books in peace. The pool was a great escape with the incredible heat wave. The municipal power went out every now and then and there are really cute solar lights that you can turn on. As well as the lanterns which ensured a very "cosy" atmosphere around the braai. The donkeys and turkey children come to visit early in the morning. But more remarkable where we stayed in the Zebra hut, the animals came to drink water at the dam and we could enjoy a special "game view" from our porch. So is the bench right next to the pond for a cocktail when the animals come to drink water. Ben, the manager of the farm, made us feel like old friends and hung out with us on the Friday night bring and braai in the middle of a terrible storm we enjoyed a nice braai and sat under the lapa and socialized until late . He built an incredible pot bread that was heavenly. We sat together with other guests like old friends around the fire and talked and laughed. I would recommend Great Luck Bush Camp anytime. But remember it is as the name says. Bush Camp. Don't expect frills and goats. The experience of forest is exactly what you are going for.
Just want to thank Ben again for all the trouble he went through for us. Really Ben, you are a stalwart!
What we expected and what we got were not quite the same. But there is nothing more enjoyable than being in nature and we will definitely visit there again soon. Uncle Ben and his team were tops.
It was wonderfully relaxed. The pool was nice in the heat. There are birds I have never seen or heard before. The giraffes were too flashy. All the other goats that regularly come to drink water are so beautiful. The vegetation is lush green and there is enough pasture for all the animals and enough water. The water is delicious to drink, and once you drink Grootgeluk's water, you will want to drink it again. The reception and care for the guests was wonderful, nothing was ever too much trouble. Thank you very much!
Very comfortable accommodation with clean facilities. The field and animals create a peaceful environment.
11 - 16 July 2016 - This week in the bushveld was like manna from heaven for us. The atmosphere at the bushcamp was of such a nature that we didn't want to go home. The children and grandchildren enjoyed themselves tremendously. Ben, we just want to thank you for your hospitality and help with the small things. The bushcamp has a lot of potential and we will definitely visit again. We would like to thank you for being part of our unforgettable holiday.
We had a great stay and the service was excellent.
We had a wonderful stay, the manager BEN is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go again.
We really enjoyed hiding in the woods for an evening away from the busy city. Would definitely go again for a longer period.
It was a lovely campsite. Exactly as they advertise: "forest camp" and not luxury resort. Really enjoyed the giraffes. Power gave problems last night and that is something they need to sort out. The generator was running, but Zebra cottages were not getting power. Was very hot so then no fans could work. Luckily drove next morning and at least meat is still ok. Definitely buy for your freshly baked farm bread. The bread is a winner. Men who like to make campfires, you will enjoy them here, because there is a decent fire place. Thank you very much will visit again.
Had a peaceful stay and the people are kind.
Very helpful staff, 24 hour service. Neat, clean places to stay and a good variety for different needs. Tame farm animals and lots of wildlife to see. Nice view of the dam and fishing opportunities. Two cozy lapas to hang out in. Peaceful farm atmosphere. Could buy food in town, even the farm road was easy to drive.
The customer service is fantastic. Everyone is extremely friendly, and when we arrived later than expected, the owner called to see if we were having any problems on the way. The units are clean and tidy. I recommend the place 100%.
Do nothing and then rest after that. Staff helpful and friendly. We had to vacate one log cabin due to plumbing problems. The thatch bungalow was much better, cooler, cleaner and less thorns. The log cabins needs to be worked on. Plumbing problems at both, doors does not open/close, no shade over braai areas. Very hot inside and to many acacia thorns about, needs to be raked and cleared. Some furniture must be replaced, in very bad state.
Very nice environment and peaceful place.
The wooden houses were very neat and clean.
However, I have a big problem with the bedding that is not all washed before new guests check in, when I book at a place I expect crisp clean bedding, while we were packing up the lady came to ask if she as long as bed linen can be washed, she did not remove the duvet cover to wash either, according to her it was washed the other day and is clean. It also seems to me that there is not enough bed linen to change cleanly every time there are new guests, this is not acceptable. The unit was also not very clean, bathroom light was out all weekend, there is no decent drainage in the showers.
See the stars.
Think they could invest money to give the kids more activities like a trampoline and maybe another pool.
It was very nice and friendly staff als was clean, but a lot of attention needs to be paid to the ablution block.
We spent a total of 3 days there. The ablution blocks were dirty and no hot water in the cold rainy weather. Our sliding door was a nightmare to open and close, you could not even go to the bathroom without help to open the door, when we told Eddie about it, he tried to fix it but insisted on getting beers for Christmas and even came back the following day asking. The sand road getting there and back is horrible (do not go if your not planning on doing 4x4). There was an air-con in the room that was not even working properly. It was not a very nice Christmas at all. If you do not plan on spending your holiday full of ticks, bugs and mozzies, I also wouldn't suggest it. The little tuck shop is very expensive (R20 a bag of ice). The only game I saw was cows. However, I do compliment Ben on being very friendly and helpful. I might sound harsh in my review but I feel as though it was a complete waste of R1800 and will not be going back very soon.
Very nice and peaceful, and will definitely go again. If you want to get away from the city - best place!
It is an experience to see how a giraffe bull calmly comes to drink water at the water hole. Just a few meters from where we went home. There is other wildlife as well that can be viewed. In the evening, when you sit on the porch and listen to the foxes calling, you can't help but relax. Thanks to the staff at Grootgeluk Bush Camp. We really felt at home.
Quiet, good birdwatching, road in good condition and management very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the barbecue area and viewing animals at the dam.
Very cute place, will definitely visit again, just invite friends too.
Clean and tidy. I will visit again. I recommend it for calm people.
Good service. Clean and tidy. A duster would be convenient.
Very nice to stay there, but the direction to get there was confusing.
Great service. Thanks Ben! Rest and peace. Ben can make potty food, he CAN. No effort is spared to look after guests. I will come again.
See the stars.
It is safe there so for any family especially with children the right place. Not too big and the chalets quite far apart so you are not really bothered by your neighbours.
We thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and rest away from the city. We will definitely visit again.
The unit was comfortable and private. The braai was big enough for 2 fires.
We booked all 3 of the Zebra Log Cabins and had a great time and really enjoyed the silence. Our visit was at the end of October 2015. Everything you need is there. Dust has been put in the houses, which as I understand was not there before. Will definitely visit again. It's very affordable and for what you pay you get more than you expect.
Very peaceful, would definitely go again.
See the stars.
We stayed in the Zebra camp.
Our stay at Grootgeluk Bush Camp was a very nice experience. The places are beautifully furnished. It is so peaceful and safe. One can definitely forget all the hustle and bustle of city life and just relax. Thank you very much for your friendly service.
We had to change chalets. We booked Zebra cottage as I wanted 2 bedrooms for an extra guest coming for a few days. Kim asked me at the last minute to switch chalets. They gave us kudu cottage with one bedroom and an extra meerkat cottage for the guest. The kudu house had no table or chairs, the fridge didn't work and there was no barbecue. The meerkat house had no fan in it. Ben, the manager, was very helpful but the owner wouldn't even talk to us. There were also many power outages and their generator only kept the essentials running at night, and during the day we were without power a lot.
Except for the electricity that posed a problem for the other people in my group, I were not bothered with that. It would have been nice if there were just a gas plate for coffee but next time I will take one with.
I would recommend Grootgluk to older, calmer people.
Grootgeluk is the place to be if you need to switch off completely from the corporate world. The most relaxing and enjoyable place to be with nature.
For what one gets at Grootgeluk Bush Camp it is certainly value for money (although this is debatable). The staff we saw (Ben and the one man who cleans the braai) are friendly. The log cabins are not cleaned (despite the advertisement saying they are). If anyone wants to visit there, definitely do not stay in Zebra log cabin 11 (unless you get confirmation in advance that it has been fixed). The cabin feels very unstable and the floors are very uneven and broken in the bathroom. The taps are leaking and the water runs out from under the hut onto the ground. One gets the impression that the hut is going to topple over. Take your own toilet paper with you... we got half a toilet roll for 3 adults, a toddler and a baby for 4 days and 3 nights stay.
See the ratings.
The location of the units is excellent if you are looking for privacy. The bushveld evenings around the campfire make you want to go back. Already planning for a next round in the winter.
Unfortunately the accommodation is sub-standard.
I didn't feel safe at all. The main gate facing the road is not locked. Our unit was not fenced like the rest of the chalets, it's to one side. The chalet smells strongly of mold. The air conditioning could not turn off. There was no water in the kitchen taps. We bought wood and the next day it was gone.
The air conditioning does not work. The toilet outlet is leaking. The sink in the kitchen's wooden stand is falling apart and the taps are loose and sloppily installed. The toilet was reported but nothing was done and the floor remains wet around the toilet.
The road leads through a bad neighborhood where there is a smell of sewage systems that don't work! You're already pissed before you get there! No bro! There was no water on our arrival and the bedding was wrinkled - not clean/fresh! The management did not respond at all to our complaint about the water - someone came the next morning to say sorry, and said it was their fault because the power was off the day before...?
We enjoyed the quiet, but were disappointed in the accommodation's facilities. It needs urgent maintenance. The shower rail fell off as well as another rail in the bathroom. There was no hot water. The air conditioning and boiler did not work either.
The location is excellent. It is very relaxing, out of the busy city life. I enjoyed that part, however the place is not properly cleaned, the toilets are extremely dirty and they need to install insect repellant lights. There is an issue with the electricity that trips now and again. The curtains in the Nyala Chalets needs to be washed!
No power. No bar. No kiosk. No service! And so on.
The pool is small but just right to cool off in. Not deep so I had peace of mind about kids who can't swim well yet. It was very nice; next time we will go to the forest a little more and stay in the wooden cabins. The 2 children really enjoyed it. We spent time together as a family away from TV and noise - very nice.
We were kindly received. Stayed in a beautiful log house with a lovely porch. Could drink coffee on the porch in the morning while we looked out over the pond and fields. The braai is private and conveniently close to the cottage. We had a lovely walk in the field and fished in the pond. We are going again in November with the whole family. It's value for money and rest for the soul.
The drivers are very friendly, we were very satisfied with everything and the service is great. I would recommend anyone to go there - we will definitely go again!
The staff (Yolande and Lani) are absolutely two wonderful people and made the stay even more enjoyable. It was a festival. Can't wait to go again! There is absolutely NOTHING we can complain about. Nice man nice!
Camp is situated out of main town and you have to travel approx 8 km on gravel road to get to the camp (gravel road was not in good condition, very muddy and slippery due to heavy rainfalls) but once we got to bush camp it was fine. Manageress and staff was excellent. Very friendly and accomodating we had an awesome 3 days . Camp is well maintained very neat . Cooking is done in main kitchen and kitchen well equipped. No bar or shop on site so make sure you take everything you require for your stay.
Atmosphere relaxing and peaceful. Would recommend to friends, although the Njala chalets were too small for me. Would rather stay in Zebra hut.
She makes it her business to come every day to see if everything is okay and to make you feel at home.
Stay was adequate. Gate need to open sooner for guests that have travelling plans in the early morning. Sleeping units need to properly cleaned and dusted before guests arrives.
Fishing not so great, pond very empty.
See the stars below.
There were problems with the power though...
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We struggled with water, but at least it's sorted now. It's a cute place to get away for the weekend.
