252 guests' feedbackThese luxury tents are in the most fabulous location, so incredibly peaceful. However, not very well suited for bad weather, as the kitchenette is on an exposed semi-open stoep, so during rainy or windy weather it's hard to prepare a meal. But we will definitely be back, amazing views and location, and wonderful hosts.
Houses are well equipped and location is spectacular. Would definitely go again!
We had a great stay, the owner was super helpful and friendly. We had a surprise handmade gift for my husband's 40th and a free upgrade. The location is scenic and great for a summer or winter holiday. The only downside was that we had no network and WiFi for 2 nights. The electricity tripped quite a lot, and we had no way of contacting the owners. This does not take away the beauty of this place. Hope to be back soon.
Beautiful views, pet friendly. I slept like a baby except for the last night as the wind was really bad, and the glamping tent moved quite a bit with the wind.
Wonderful camp with the most beautiful view! Friendliest people who really accommodate you! The campsite is neat and clean. There is so much to do and see around your own campsite! We really enjoyed it, and since we were the only 3 in the campsite, it felt like another world to us. Will definitely visit again! Delicious fresh milk was also the cherry on the cake, which really made this farm camp so exceptional!
Really such a beautiful camp site. Clean and well-maintained. Safe for kids and family. Pet friendly.
We stayed in Bloubok cottage. Lovely location. The only gripe was that the 2-plate stove is a disaster and should be replaced with gas or induction plates. The frying pans were old, making it impossible to fry eggs without them sticking and burning. The rowing boat has no paddles, so it is of no use to anybody. The braai grids were filthy, and the hatch on the braai had grease from the previous users all over the surface.
Enjoyed our stay as always. Just a bliss to go to the beautiful farm.
Beautiful farm with interesting history.
Lovely farm, but the tent we stayed in needs some TLC. The gas geyser is too small. Pots and pans need replacing as they have a lot of rust inside. There were no items to clean the braai grids. The fridge needs its seals replaced as it does not close 100%.
We decided not to stay there because they were doing construction on the farm and it made us feel unwelcome.
If you're looking for a fresh break away from hectic city life, Fleckvei is for you, absolutely recommend it!
We had a lovely stay in Bloubok for 9 nights and had a good rest. The surroundings are beautiful and the bird life around the cottage provided a lot of pleasure. Also just a few big fish pulled out from the balcony. Unfortunately, the increase in algae has forced us to swim on the opposite side of the pond for the last 4 days. Despite that, we would recommend Fleckvieh to everyone. Thank you for the hospitality, delicious milk and your children's friendly smiles.
Beautiful surroundings with incredible views.
The accommodation was beautiful. The views spectacular. The host was very accommodating and assisted with our every need.
Beautiful scenery. Felt very safe. Hiking on site.
We were upgraded for free. Such a beautiful and relaxing place.
Can't recommend Fleckvieh Guestfarm enough. The perfect stay for families all year round.
Had a fantastic getaway. It stormed and rained the entire time that we were there but it did not matter. The owner graciously upgraded our room to one that was available at no extra charge. The accommodation is beautiful and neat with all the necessary items. Was refreshing getting away from civilisation and back to nature with comfort. Best of all, it is pet friendly. Everyone on the farm was very friendly and helpful.
What an absolutely magical weekend at Fleckvieh Working Farm situated just after Swellendam. There are stunning cabins around the dam and the campsites are all on grass with electrical points, braais and communal bathrooms also situated around the dam which you can swim, fish or row in. Awesome walks around the farm, even to a waterfall/spring that you can 4x4 to too. Dog friendly if your pet doesn't chase the cattle. And even better, they have such incredible staff that let you join in on the work activities. We got to see the morning and evening milking sessions plus feed the calves and even got a taste of milk straight from the cow. They also have horse rides available at an extra cost.
Fantastic family accommodation.
A beautiful hidden gem. Quick drive/easy access from N2. So much for kids to do/explore. Perfect for nature lovers.
Perfect. Peaceful swimming and fishing weekend away.
The atmosphere is really nice. The guests really enjoy it there and the owner, Thys, is incredibly friendly and hospitable. It is a pet friendly vacation spot and it works very comfortably. We plan to go back because we had a great time!
Accommodation: 2 nights in Grysbokkie tent. Very well equipped and the most beautiful location practically on the dam. We got there in pouring rain and our VW Caddy didn't quite want to master the slippery dirt road. However, during dry conditions this is no problem. Fortunately, Thys was immediately on hand to take us to the tent, luggage and all. You are in nature. It is incredibly beautiful and peaceful. However, bring mosquito repellent if you don't like the nocturnal visitors. We can't wait to visit Fleckvieh again!
Lovely peaceful getaway campsite.
The mattresses of the bed sleep comfortably. I couldn't get the ceiling fan to work and the shower was not pleasant at all. I struggle with the hot water which is then scalding and then cold again! Otherwise enjoy everything.
We had a wonderful stay. The place was located in nature. The children enjoyed the hiking trail and animals on the farm. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely book again.
We really enjoyed the weekend. The children got to know all the farm animals and really enjoyed giving milk to calves!
The house definitely has everything you need for your stay. Here and there something was not there, but was not a train smash! The view over the dam and mountains is incredibly beautiful and we couldn't have asked for better! We had a great time relaxing on the jetty and tried to catch a fish or two but were not successful! The road to Elandhuisie is easily accessible with an ordinary vehicle! It started to rain lightly on Sunday and stormed on Sunday evening, the sound of the rain on the roof was so nice! We will definitely visit Fleckvieh Guestfarm again, as well as tell other people about it!
I feel blessed to have had this experience. Overwhelming peace and beauty the city cannot provide. My fur baby came along and she and I both fell in love with the farm's dog Toby. Morning breaks to the sounds of moos and roosters crowing and the many other bird species and farm animals that call that farm home were a joy. Quiet time on the jetty, fields and mountains at sunset and sunrise were just what my soul needed. I'm already trying to see when I can visit again.
The surroundings are so picturesque. You are forced to notice and admire it. Absolutely lovely place to visit.
We had the most amazing stay in Bloubok. Being able to take our dogs and kitten with was a really special experience. We took them all for walks around the dam, and met the sweetest farm dog along the way. The view was unforgettable, we even tried our hand at fishing. Considering it was winter we didn't expect to catch many fish, but it was fun to try. This cabin was everything we were looking for and the perfect place to spend our anniversary. We will definitely be back soon.
We had a great time and really enjoyed the silence. View from the deck was amazing.
The farm is located between small villages that make excursions easy and enjoyable. The area itself is beautiful and the people are super friendly. It's nice to be able to walk freely and climb mountains on a farm where you feel safe.
Lovely stay, walkways were a bit overgrown.
Can recommend the place for a quiet getaway and not far from the Cape either. Will also work nicely for large groups and is very affordable. The people are very hospitable and helpful and sort things out quickly. Can recommend the place for sure.
Camp is right by the farm dam.
Was lovely, but unfortunately it rained all weekend. And the parking area for tents is far and inconvenient, two vans do not fit side by side.
Beautiful scenery. The house was clean and tidy. Lovely walk around the pond and on the farm. Boys really enjoyed the cows and dairy. The bedding was indeed not sufficient. The pillows in the second bedroom were not sufficient. One lies all the way down to the mattress. It's bumpy and the "stuffing" is completely gone in places. August is still cold and there were no extra blankets for all the beds and also little thorns (thorns) on the one blanket. We were 6 people and only 4 towels were provided. Luckily my sons shared with us.
It's just hard to make contact with phone because signal is very weak. If it rains, the road to the cottages is very slippery and muddy so difficult with a low car. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
We enjoyed it but were a bit disappointed that the horseriding and game drive were not available. Otherwise very friendly owners and sweet doggie.
Very nice farm. We enjoyed it very much. Lovely wooden house on the shore of the pond.
There were some shortcomings that we took up with Management and which we believe will be addressed.
It's a really good camp type environment and seems to be very enjoyable for younger kids. Was pleasant for us too. View beautiful. Many young people made good use of the dam. The Bosbok house was well located with braai facilities on the stoep. The bathroom is outside but private. The kitchenette is very limited and the sink very small so washing dishes is a challenge. Could have extended the cupboards for more storage space. Otherwise it was a nice and good experience.
Bliss like few, beautiful nature with wonderful views. Unique farm experience. Ideal place to recharge.
We will be going back in summer for sure.
Would have liked the bathrooms and bins cleaned daily.
Wonderful peaceful relaxation with a beautiful view of the dam. Farm and nature sounds are lovely, felt very close to nature. Some of the amenities are "due" for maintenance, but still usable. Unfortunately we had no interaction with the owners. They even drove right past us on the farm without even waving. At reception, a young boy opened the door and answered a few questions. We had to send an email to get the WiFi password.
Quiet, with the charm of the mountains, next to the water and the Grootvadersbosch river on a working farm, fresh milk and eggs every day. Thank you we will be back soon.
We were received very generously and immediately felt at home. We stayed in Grysbokkie tent and everything is super clean and tidy with all the amenities you need. It's quiet, it's peaceful and even though it rained almost the entire weekend, it was still nice to just sit on the porch and drink in the scenery. The road to the tents is unfortunately more suitable for 4x4 vehicles, but we made it with our Polo and got out without any damage. We will definitely be booking in again for a weekend soon and I can confidently recommend it to anyone who just wants to relax and recharge. And make sure you get some of their farm milk. It's delicious.
Great experience all round.
We stayed in Takbok - was very clean and tidy. Very nice place, nice to swim, ride a bike, walk around and explore.
Stunning location and just what we needed to break away from the city for a bit.
Driving to the location, passed waterfalls already made a great impression. We ended up arriving pretty late and the owner was still up and happy and accomodating. They even gave us a free upgrade. The location is stunning. Beautiful wooden cottages, and stunning views. Really great and flexible service. Definitely on the favorites list.
The Bosbok unit is ideal for young couples who want to spend a peaceful, quiet weekend away together. The farm is perfectly set up to accommodate people of all age groups.
Lovely peaceful visit in nature.
We loved our time at Fleckvieh Guestfarm. The kids we happy. Lots for them to do. It was cool. Service wonderful. Loved it. Restful, absolutely wonderful holiday.
Relaxing environment.
The rowboats need some attention.
We really enjoyed the break. It was wonderfully quiet with no cell phone reception and everything in the cottage that we needed. I baked a cake in the oven.
Please be aware that one of the wood/reed covers onthe stoep by the braais has fallen down and is lying underneath in the reeds. This can be dangerous to people with small kids.
The campsite was well laid out and was completely grassed a big bonus, not too many trees so we were lucky there were only two other couples. The only downside was that there could have been more ablution facilities.
Our stay was booked for 7 days and we had a small bar fridge with no room for our meat, feel arrangements could have been made for a bigger fridge? Extra goodies such as toilet paper and black bags were also not offered. Also a suggestion maybe a black pot in each cabin?
Beautiful surroundings. Not very good value for R1000.00 a night.
Good view and very peaceful environment.
There was no corkscrew (broken), and the braai and oven was not cleaned.
Best house with a lovely view of the dam and green mountains. Nice fishing and the nature was beautiful. Fresh milk and delicious farm eggs!
Would definitely recommend. Signal is very weak so communicate with family and friends in advance.
The service was amazing, they made us feel so welcome. Our child aged 9 years, had a blast and he enjoyed the outdoors and the animals and let's not forget to mention the boat. If you are going in winter take warm clothes.
Made a lot of extra effort to make our honeymoon very special. Ideal for children.
It had been so peaceful, with no city noise around you. Completely relaxed. Will definitely go again.
It was an exceptional experience for me as I like to be outside, I can walk around for hours outside with a camera. It was a very very positive experience. And we made plans to go again as we were leaving.
Wonderful view of the dam and mountains. Nice picture! We were lucky to have lovely weather, even for winter. Cottage is small and cozy. Nice to see all the animals and give milk to calves. Nice fresh farm milk. Best break from the city in a long time. We will definitely come again and bring friends.
Such an amazing stay! A divine landscape to be peaceful, creative and reflective. We had such a tranquil and magical experience. The milk and cheese, exquisite, some honey hives would have perfected the picture. The host was so kind and always willing to assist us at anytime, very blessed to find this little piece of paradise, very grateful.
I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away and rest.
Excellent getaway. Breathtakingly beautiful. Private and people are very helpful and friendly. Will definitely go again.
It was absolutely fantastic. Really switched off away from the hustle and bustle. Will definitely go again.
The accommodation was a bit disappointing because of the size. Too small to accommodate a family, otherwise very little to complain about.
Simple farm life with the cutest animals and nicest host! We will definitely return. The farm is in the most beautiful location. If you enjoy farm life, this is the place to go!
Pillows need upgrade, some crockery chipped, but surprised as the unit was brand new. Drainage from kitchen sink a problem. Just a few suggestions: kitchen counter needed protection as on arrival they were marked. But can't beat location. We loved it.
Offers both chalets/cottages and campsites with electricity, water and washing facilities. Somewhat "rustic" but serviceable. Thys/Chantelle van Fleckvieh is extremely hospitable and accommodating! Our puppies were able to enjoy the freedom to move around. Nice hiking trails. Will definitely go back again.
Amazing place, fantastic dam, you should target more on the fishing side of things. Had a couple of good barbel and it's not really the season for them. Great walks, nice and rugged if you want it. Cosy accommodation and clean. Will be back in the spring to sort those barbel out.
My husband and I booked this place at the last minute as an anniversary getaway. When we pulled up to the cabin, we were blown away. The view is just stunning. The cabin was big enough for the both of us and didn't feel small or cramped, Rather cosy and so romantic. I took pics of almost everything and sent to family and friends. The only complaints that I have is that it is hard to get a hold of anyone at reception and we battled a bit to get the WiFi password. There is absolutely no cell signal at the place we stayed. We did not mind that, but needed to tell people at home that we had arrived safely. The second complaint is the very dim light in the bathroom. Please change the globe to something a bit brighter. The cabin, BosBok, is just amazing and I would love to bring my kids with the next time we visit. Please consider installing a full size fridge so that I can pack enough food in it for a week's stay. Overall I highly recommend this farm for a couples getaway and definitely for a family getaway. The kids will go absolutely crazy playing in that gorgeous space for a few days.
Most beautiful green fields with a view of mountains and cattle. Assisted with milking cows, feeding calves, walking around the farm. Delicious cottage cheese, meat, fresh milk and farm eggs bought. Friendly staff. Very glad I could take my Schnauzer with me and he had a great weekend on the farm. I will definitely go again.
Close to Grootvadersbosch. Interesting night drive to see animals. Fantastically quiet and peaceful.
Great atmosphere and views.
The area was beautifull with stunning views. The cabin was clean, however there were odd glasses, chipped bowls etc. in the kitchen area.
Lots of swimming, boating and a walk to do up the mountain. Not easy to cross the river though! Lovely place with good ablutions and facilities.
The farm is very tidy and offers privacy and a breathtaking view. The highlight was time with the animals and exposing children to the dairy, lambs and calves. Horse riding was an experience, especially for the children. The pond and area around the pond is very neat and where you will spend most of your day. Delicious farm products are also sold.
Great getaway. Blue goat cabin indications do not exist at all and no indication is affixed to the cabin.
It didn't appear that they were expecting us. Yet they were friendly. However, we couldn't see what justified the price. The porch, where the only table and chairs are, is unusable during the day, because the sun burns you to death. It offers no shade. We were disappointed.
Swimming pool is located at the farmhouse and is not actually part of the resort. The pool was empty and could not be used. The place of residence was dusty, kitchen is meager with no sharp knives or decent salad bowl. Coffee mugs are chipped and generally just don't look good anymore. The outdoor grill is rusted. The broom has seen better days and I think it's time for most things in the living quarters to be replaced and upgraded. That said, the place is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is pretty secluded, but could really be managed better to justify the cost.
The environment is incredibly beautiful! The chalet is also well located with a nice view, just a pity the unit was not clean.
Amazing location. Very below average accommodation, poorly maintained and not well-outfitted. Some frustrations like only getting 2 towels when there were 4 paying guests. No oven, only a stovetop and microwave. Only two chairs at a counter and no seating at the dining table for eating, again 4 people. Mismatch of crockery and dishes, etc. Multiple lights not working, bulbs blown. Owners seemed nice.
The place was advertised with activities for the kids and teenagers, but when we arrived it was said that the only activity available was swimming in the pool. All the other activities was stopped a long time ago. The chalet we stayed in had spider webs and spiders running around. The crockery was incomplete the pots and pan was old and didn't work 100% any more. The toilet was making a noise the entire time. Fleckvieh Guestfarm was maybe once a nice place to go too but they have definitely neglected the place and don't give any attention to it anymore.
Facility definitely not as in photo, furniture outdated. WiFi and DSTV advertised, no TV, or code for WiFi available. Barbecue facility not available. No water in shower morning. Wanted to inform staff in the morning before departure, but no one in office as detailed in information sheet.
The location and views are breathtaking. The owners went out of their way to make our wedding and birthday party so special.
Quiet, beautiful surroundings, pond was lovely. Completely relax and enjoy it immensely.
Very nice, classy place to chill and relax. The dam and mountains are excellent. The accommodation had everything that we needed.
We were received extremely kindly. Thys upgraded us to Koeitjie which is a bigger unit than Kalfie. Delicious fresh milk delivered to us. Accommodation very neat and clean, with crisp, pure white bed linen and towels. Our view was over the green pastures. It was an experience to see the beautiful animals on the farm! 100 cows are milked in the morning and evening. We would just like to stay on Fleckvieh for a long time!
Nice on a farm with a beautiful view and facilities were very good.
The cabin overlooking the dam was perfect, the scenery was amazing, the staff there friendly and efficient and it was great seeing the working farm in action.
Very safe. How a child should grow up.
See stars.
Our little kids really enjoyed it. We gave suggestions to the management to equip the Koeitjie unit more child-friendly and Thys and his team were very friendly with wonderful hospitality.
Most beautiful view from the cottage.
Beautiful views, plenty of activities, Grootvadersbosch and Swellendam within half an hour's drive.
The children enjoyed themselves. The pond they could swim in was a winner, even for us grown-ups. Bosbok is very neat, but there was a shortage of a ladle and the bathroom's small sink was a little annoying, but it didn't detract from how nice we stayed. The campsite's bathroom is nice but may be inadequate at busy times and there is also no bench or hooks behind the shower door for your clothes (these are tips and not criticisms). The owner, Thys Swart, is friendly and helpful and ensures a pleasant stay and we will definitely go again.
Farm life is great.
The flies bothered a bit, but there was a fly swatter that I thoroughly enjoyed. The insecticide came in handy. The kitchen and shower basin is uncomfortably small. The shower needs a door/curtain otherwise the floors are constantly wet, but these are the little things. Furthermore, it was beautifully clean and a cosy place, with friendly owners.
We were not told at all that there was no clean drinking water, we had to drive back again to buy drinking water. My husband asked the lady for eggs, she would get them for us, we are still waiting for them.
We would recommend the chalet. It's calmer and less flies.
This was the second attempt. Like the first time, there was no one to receive us at the office. One of the guests helped us in the direction of our camp last time. With our first camp a few weeks back, the campsite was a bit neglected but acceptable. The weekend was a completely different story. The grass and weeds were tall, the shower and toilet so dirty that my wife could not use them. It was clear that there was no preparation for our arrival. I drove to the reception and tried to make contact with someone. No one at reception and no one picking up one of the cell numbers. After a struggle I then saw a lady busy with work in one of the homesteads. She was friendly and helpful and then gave me the number of the lady who is supposed to run the place. Again no answer even though it rang. I then send a WhatsApp to say she needs to call me urgently. She opens it but ignores me. Now discouraged, I finally make contact with the farmer on the land and between him and the lady I met on the site they arrange for at least the shower and toilet to be cleaned. Fortunately, I went to see if the geyser was turned on. Between the cobwebs, I managed to turn it on, otherwise we would still be without hot water that evening. To the management of the accommodation. You clearly have no respect for me and my wife as guests. If you had you would have cleaned our place and not expected us to spend the night in such extremely poor conditions. Whether you were off at the weekend or not, it remains your responsibility to look after your guests and then arrange a person to receive them, making sure everything is ready for your guests. In my 30 years of camping, B&B and traveling, I have never experienced an establishment with such disdain for guests. Time off is precious, not to mention the costs associated with going away. In our case, we have to drive to work on Saturday to get away for an evening. The last thing you want is to deal with such an institution.
Thank you Fleckvieh Guestfarm for a fantastic experience. From the warm friendly welcome (which included a bottle of fresh farm milk) to the loving farewell (by the dog who crawled into our hearts) it was a pleasure. The unit we stayed in (Eland) was breathtakingly beautiful, clean, tidy and plenty of space with a fully equipped kitchen. The game drive was a great experience, a first for us on soft benches and a picnic mat. The farm is incredibly beautiful and there was enough to keep us all busy (fishing, milking cows, milking sheep and feeding calves, walking and enjoying the scenery). The fact that we could bring our puppy with us was an extra treat and the farm dogs were not at all aggressive or territorial towards her. It was an absolute pleasure and we will definitely visit again.
They stay was so nice, the view of nature is so nice.
See stars.
My family and I (2 kids, 2 dogs and 1 husband) visited Fleckvieh for a 3 night stay. There was so much for us to do and in such a safe and friendly environment. My teen and husband went wandering into the fields and foothills for hours; my 9 year old went egg finding and calf feeding - he even got to witness a calf being born; I went cycling on the trails above the farm. If you run out of things to do on the farm, Fleckvieh is also so close to other easily accessible towns and reserves. A really lovely stay with such friendly and helpful staff.
Incredible accommodation, breathtaking scenery with the dam in front of you and the mountains in the background. Will definitely visit with my motorcycle friends again. Will sleep 2 nights next time and not just one night. Make the effort and visit the Fleckvieh Guestfarm family. You won't regret it.
This was our second visit here, but this time we stayed in the Takbok chalet. We had an incredibly nice stay, we and the children didn't want to go home. Thys' hospitality was once again top notch and already starting to feel like family. The whole farm is an absolute gem with the most beautiful views and wonderful activities. The place gives you the feeling of farm life and also the forest, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This is one of our favorite places and can't wait for our next visit. Thank you Thys, for the wonderful time, good milk and friendly hospitality. You guys are great!
All that is missing is a drying rack by the sink for dishes. The horse riders regretted that there were no horses to ride, but the dairy, calves, lambs, fishing, cycling and chickens provided enough entertainment!
The pitch is on green grass next to the dam and has the most beautiful view of the mountain! Very peaceful getaway.
We couldn't have asked for a better place. The most beautiful view! The children enjoyed farm life to the fullest. Going to feed the lambs and calves had been a high point for them. Thank you very much for your hospitality! Definitely see you again soon!
We had a wonderful time in nature at Fleckvieh Guestfarm. The staff are very friendly and helpful and we will be back in the future again.
It really was the most beautiful place and absolutely fantastic to be able to share everything on the farm. The nature is breathtakingly beautiful! Would definitely go again and definitely recommend it to anyone. Festive place for children.
Het ons vakansie terdeë geniet. Almal was vriendelik en die plek is asemrowend mooi. Ons is ook gratis opgegradeer na 'n groter wooneenheid toe daar 'n kansellasie was. Sal definitief weer daar gaan kuier.
We had a great time, the farm was beautiful and peaceful, very neat and friendly.
This retired couple enjoyed every minute of our mid-week stay at Fleckvieh. Clean, comfortable accommodation at a very reasonable rate in a beautiful setting. Helpful and friendly staff.
We spent a lovely few days in the chalet on this beautiful farm. The view from the chalet was magnificent. It was quiet and peaceful. There are some lovely walks on the farm and we enjoyed swimming in the farm dam. There is also a swimming pool. The accommodation was comfortable. When we needed some extra glasses and dishes, these were kindly supplied to us. We enjoyed getting fresh farm milk every day and also farm cottage cheese. It was interesting seeing the dairy and how the animals are cared for. The calves were very cute but we couldn't help feeling sorry for them as they are separated from their mothers at a very young age, which is a typical practice on most dairy farms. There were plenty of other animals on the farm as well, such as horses and sheep and our daughter enjoyed petting them very much. The only downside was all the flies, which is also to be expected on a farm. There was some spray there, but a fly swatter would have been more useful to me.
The beautiful nature and silence was the perfect switch off from the busy life. The campsite is easily accessible and safe. Can really recommend it.
I was fortunate that I had a quiet couple (and their dog) in the cabin next to me, as the two cabins are quite close together. Fortunately there were no campers on the lawn in front of us either, as I think it could become quite noisy when there are a lot of people. The outside bathroom threw me for a few minutes, but I came to enjoy it later. The cabin was extremely tidy and clean, but I always question white bedding in a place that encourages one to spend time outside, and to flee inside only when the weather is really bad. No seating inside except the beds ─ a double bed and a bunk bed sharing the same space as the kitchen - a sort of enlarged Wendy house on stilts. I think with four people there could be a crowding problem and there are only two chairs and a small table on the veranda, but what a view over the dam! My two dogs and I enjoyed it tremendously and will definitely be back.
Amazing location with the best views.
We camped at Fleckvieh for 3 nights. We live in the city so the peaceful atmosphere and the silence was heavenly for us! Very cute and neat bathrooms. The views over the dam and some of the mountains were indescribably beautiful. We would definitely recommend them!
Wonderful place, small paradise, will surely visit again. Love the peace and quiet.
The chalet is nice and spacious. The children really enjoyed the farm animals: horses, cows, milking lambs and the friendly farm dogs that looked after them everywhere.
Thanks for a nice, relaxing weekend. We'll stay here again.
Any person alone or family with kids and love outdoor and farm life would absolutely love the tranquil farm. It's the best place to recharge your batteries.
Fleckvieh Guestfarm is perfect it was definitely worth it. I will definitely visit again.
Calf/Cow very nice view and close to all the farm animals. Just not privacy if you want to grill alone. Also awesome. Perfect overnight for Cape to PE.

Affordable accommodation that delivers breathtaking views, can highly recommend it.
My family and I stayed there this past weekend. We enjoyed the scenery and the quietness, it was nice to be in touch with nature. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially if they need a break from the city life.
Magnificent place for a breakaway and such beautiful views from the farm. Absolutely loved my stay at Fleckvieh Guestfarm.
Absolutely stunning! Friendly and accommodating staff. Highly recommended! Will definitely come again.
Beautiful surroundings and nice campsite right next to the dam - it's peaceful and nice to swim and just relax with beautiful lawns!
The surroundings are beautiful and we will visit the Eland cottage again.
It is truly picture-perfect and so peaceful there. The house is very neat and the wooden deck with the view over the dam, a winner. Oh yes, the fresh farm milk in the fridge was a bonus.
It's our second time here for a study holiday. This time we were in Eland. We also brought my mom along as a gift for her 70th birthday and she thoroughly enjoyed sitting by the pond and reading her book. A roast or potjie was prepared every night and the fire lit. We went for walks with the dogs every morning and noon. We couldn't have asked for better. Farm fresh milk and eggs for breakfast. Close enough from Swellendam to drive in quickly if you need anything. We will see you again later in 2019.
Great location/view but a quite run down chalet, and due to surrounding animals around chalet we just had too many flies all the time to our liking. Next time we will rather camp on the farm.
We had a wonderful time at home in the beautiful wooden house by the dam. Tranquility itself. Lovely porch with the most beautiful view of pond and landscape. Baboons and goats play together on grasslands and fish frolic in the water. Huisie has everything you need for a nice visit away from the hustle and bustle.
This is a great place for a quiet getaway, view is serene and peaceful.
It was a very pleasant stay. We stayed in Takbok which is listed as accommodation for 4 people, but actually it is a bit small for 4 people. The kitchen is a very nice space and it makes it a bit difficult when cooking. The bathroom is not in the unit, it was a bit misleading on the website. It would also help if there was a small bin in the bathroom to put rubbish in, as well as some extra hooks to hang your towel and clothes. We went as a family, two adults with two children under 9 and experienced that the geyser basically only holds the capacity for two people to shower. So some of us took a cold shower this weekend. So I would recommend Takbok as accommodation for 2 people, but not for 4.
On arrival management offered us 'upgrade' which was only on one level viz. location overlooking a pond (disappointingly little bird life), an upgrade was: Bathroom outside the unit up a steep incline; kitchen equipment incomplete; grill unusable; driving unattainable unless one gets into your vehicle and drives. Otherwise linen was clean and tidy. Hopefully the "guest room" we were 'upgraded' from is more comfortable.
Lovely farm area with beautiful view on the dam. Cottage a bit old and very basicly equipped.
See stars.
Sponge mattress was very uncomfortable, grill broken, barbecue equipment lacking (how about a coal grater, barbecue tongs and barbecue bowl, people?). Single plate stove can't even cook eggs, sink and fridge a last afterthought. Camping is a better option.
When we arrived at Bosbok hut just after two on Friday 14th June 2019, it was beautiful and peaceful - just what we expected. Late afternoon two carloads of people moved into the Eland hut next to us. Then the music started - loud enough to be heard at the office a few hundred yards away. That continued till very late. Once the people at Eland awoke on Saturday morning, the music started again and continued throughout the entire day and night. We complained at the office and they said that they did phone them. Saturday night I phoned both cellphone numbers but it was not answered. At 22:30 I went to the neighbours to ask them politely if they would quiet down a bit. I received a very hostile response in the form a very loud under the belt language that the other campers (who had small children) could hear. I then drove to the offices where I understood the manager slept. There was no answer. I tried again to phone from there. The one cellphone number rang inside the building and the other number was not answered. The next morning we decided to leave and go home for peace and quiet. When we handed the keys at the office no apology was given. The owner's response for not answering the phone is that he goes to bed at 9 pm! So there is absolutely no management or any interest in managing the campsite. The area is beautiful but if you come for peace and quiet and to enjoy nature and the birdlife, you are taking a risk. Our hut had a beautiful view until other campers camped in front of our hut - if they stood up they looked right into our hut and the bed at the back of the hut - we had to keep the curtains closed for privacy. The private bathroom is about 10 meters from the hut. To use the bathroom, you have to exit at the front of the hut, walk around the hut and 10 meters along a bushy path to the bathroom - very nice in the day or if its not raining but not practical at night. It is way overpriced for what you get, even if you have civilised neighbours. (Unfortunately 1 star is the minimum rating for client service - that is way too much).
We camped at Fleckvieh Guestfarm with our two dogs this long weekend. The facilities and the hosts were very nice and I will give it 4 stars. The only problem was the people in one of the chalets. That one party spoiled it for about seven other parties that will never go back to Fleckvieh Guestfarm again.
Wonderful house, braai on porch at night, great view, quiet, will definitely come back! Kids loved the safe swimming dam!
Was a lovely break. So calm. Terribly friendly and excellent service.
From the time we got there, to the time we left, we experienced nothing but the best service. The breathtaking view from our apartment over the dam and mountains will stay with us for a long time. Absolute 5 star experience!
We had a good stay. Thank you very much for clean, neat accommodation.
It is now a real piece of paradise. The accommodation is excellent and the fireplace in the living room a feast. The surroundings are incredibly beautiful and so are the birds which include wild ducks, mallard geese, bald hens and even ospreys. The unit we lived in was literally built over the water and will be a feast for bird watchers. Thank you very much for your kindness, Thys. You are a true host.
There is not enough space to indicate how much we enjoyed our time at the guest farm. We stayed in the Bosbok cottage, which has just the basics, but for our purposes it was all we needed. We made it a study week away from the hustle and bustle and ordinary every day life duties and we can still not get over the great time we had, by having to do nothing. You do not get great signal at these cottages and that is exactly what you need if you want to leave the world behind and rejuvenate and study as was in our case. We bought farm milk and eggs nearly every day. It is delicious and the taste define. We could bring our two small/medium dogs with and had walks with them without leashes around the dam and ventured on the other walk routes they have. We crept in bed by 19:30 and woke at 08:00 in the morning. This is so not us and we enjoyed that thoroughly. They will see us again at least once or twice a year, for sure. Everyone we met on farm was friendly and assistance and communication, even beforehand was just as great and professional but still with warmth.
Friendly service, breathtaking view, relaxing accommodation and welcoming hosts.
Such a beautiful peaceful environment. A weekend is just too short to enjoy it properly. A beautiful milk farm with the most beautiful surroundings. There is a small pond where you can go rowing, hiking trails, horse riding, 4x4 trail. The children gave milk to lambs and calves and just played among the animals the whole time.
It is the ideal place to relax and you are part of the beautiful nature.
A beautiful farm, accommodation and breathtaking views. Did not expect to see so many animals too, besides cows. Enjoyed the company of horses, a bokkie, cat, dog friendly, monkeys - all in nature. We were a group of 18 people aged 9 to 53 yrs and we all enjoyed our stay. So much to do! Choice of swimming in the pool or the river on the hot days. Had an educational tour all about the cows on the farm - so informative and I am sure the average person is not aware of what goes on at farms. Not forgetting the walk/climb routes available from the farm. Paradise all packaged into one. Each one we encountered on the farm, from the Manager to the receptionist were friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended.
The Eiland apartment is spacious and very neat, with a beautiful view of the dam. The farm is also beautiful and you can see the milking and feeding of the calf. We also drove to Grootvadersbosch, just 10 km further on a dirt road.
Was something new for the kids, the view was beautiful. They really enjoyed seeing the calves and how they were given milk. The silence was too nice.
Will be coming back for a linger stay. The place is a sight to behold. Waking up to amazing views. Safe and secure.
We have a lot of fun geeking out, the tranquility is good for the soul.
Perfect spot to take photos of birds.
Location of campsite is beautiful, on the ridge of the large farm dam, with chirping birdlife! Pitches are conveniently large with beautiful grass cover. We and our dog were made to feel very much at home and could fully enjoy the freedom of farm life. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The local farm milk is delicious!
The area is tranquil and the farm atmosphere is relaxing. The owner is very nice and we even had fresh milk and coffee for the morning. The fact that we could take our 2 dogs with was a plus and they could roam around freely.
Relaxing. Really enjoyed the milking of the cows and the feeding of the calves.
A lovely destination on a working dairy farm. We were upgraded to a two bedroom chalet overlooking the dam, which was spacious, comfortable and clean, with a large deck overlooking the dam. Good opportunity for walks or just to enjoy the lovely surrounds in a beautiful setting.
We stayed in the Chalet near the main house. All the mattresses are of poor quality, which ultimately means that you don't rest properly and comfortably. It really wasn't fun. The lights of the chalet don't work either. We asked for it to be looked at but no one came. We took our dogs with us and we really appreciate it. Furthermore, we were given permission to drive around the farm, but we had to ask first. No other activities were suggested by Chantelle. The view is exceptional and the location made up for all the other negative points. It could be a 5 star with a little effort.
It was incredibly fun! The most beautiful view and fun things to do especially for children. My only criticism (constructive) is that the Chalet really needs some maintenance. The kitchen is not fully equipped as was said. The drum is broken, does not have a closed flap, so flies. The mattresses are slept through, not comfortable seating and the wire mesh in front of the windows has holes in it, so there are a lot of flies inside the cottage. The towels were broken, and so was the trash. Braai is broken and the plates. But would really go again, just feel for the money you pay the things shouldn't be broken, decent seats that haven't been put through as well as the mattresses. Felt like it was vacation!
We had a nice stay. The 5 bed unit did not have an acceptable shower but we survived.
Very nice stay on the milk farm. Young children especially enjoy the animals. Came from Barrydale and did the Tradauw Pass was a pleasant experience, great scenery.
The farm is breathtakingly beautiful, beautiful view of the mountains. You couldn't ask for a better location. We had a great time.
I would say it depends on what you want to do if you go to a guest farm. It was my first time on a guest farm, but don't want to comment beyond what I wanted or expected. The bed was nice to sleep in, the room doors were a bit noisy and the drain from the shower and sink was noisy from time to time, but, as I say, it's a farm and it depends on what you expect.
The view is great, however the Chalet was not value for money. The windowsills had dead flies and dust accumulating, there were spiders (1 as big as the palm of my hand), the pool was filthy, there was a blob of blonde hair in the shower, the mattresses felt like water beds in the Main and second room. The lights flicker and the doors and windows can't be opened because the fly screens are torn and have holes in them.
We really enjoyed it, the children really enjoyed the dairy.
Newly built chats offer excellent value for money. Can highly recommend it for nature lovers.
The Grootvadersbos area is beautiful and worth visiting again and again. The farm area is so good for the soul.
Friendly reception. Very beautiful and peaceful. No one bothers. Just what one needs to get away from the city rush. Would go again anytime.
Incredible reception. Enjoy the farm's views and scenery in the back of the van. Background of how dairying is run, very interesting. Go for a walk to the top of the mountain early in the morning, batteries well charged! Thank you farmer Thys and brother-in-law Mike.
Would definitely recommend! Was able to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the peace and nature around us.
The farm was beautiful, the view was breathtaking and the service was great. The whole experience at Fleckvieh Guestfarm will stay with us forever. Everything was so perfect. Peace and quiet is something that everyone longs for these days and it's something that Fleckvieh Guestfarm specializes in. We are already planning our next visit to this beautiful place.
For us as a family it was wonderful. I would recommend that they only use plastic plates. Please keep plastic porridge bowls and plastic cups for small children. It makes it so much easier for a mom not to stress about breaking something. Other than that, we can't complain about anything. Even our dog enjoyed it so much. Even the view was breathtaking, it almost felt like we were visiting another country.
We had a wonderful stay!
We were very happy with the place. Chalets very clean and well furnished. Breathtaking scenery and view. Owners very friendly. Would go again anytime and recommend.
See stars.
Wonderfull view. Milk of the farm in the fridge. Meat for braai for sale.
We were welcomed with open arms and will go back again.
Thanks, would love to come again.
Relaxing accommodation. Private and the kids enjoyed life on the farm.
Thys is an excellent farmer and fleckvieh cattle are well cared for in the most beautiful surroundings. Visitors are made to feel very at home and welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for his hard working ad professional manager Sarita. It is by no means 5 star but incredibly pleasant and the views are stunning. There are horses to ride and wonderful walks - you may use the boats to row around the dam or just laze away the time or have a dip in the pool. Heidelberg is the nearest village - a short drive - where you will find everything you may have forgotten. What I found most interesting was learning about Fleckvieh cows - their milk and the fact that the calves do not end up on someones dinner plate. Thys has plans to expand the accommodation but we were very well cared for.
The log cabin is very beautiful! You don't need to take anything with you. Everything is provided! Showers and toilet were very clean with a bushveld feel. Very nice view of the farm dam and mountains. Thys and family were very friendly. You can also watch the feeding of the calves. Would definitely recommend Fleckvieh!
It's beautiful there and a lot to do. Unfortunately we were only there for one night, but the children really enjoyed the cows and all the other animals! Love the fresh milk! The views are fantastic and the farm is wonderfully peaceful (except for the rooster that wakes you up nice and early, but that's part of farm life).
Great accommodation, nice and cool after a hot day and the view is stunning. Spacious rooms and everything you need. Friendly owners who really care and are so helpful, even if you arrive at inconvenient times. Fresh farm milk in the fridge - delicious! This place is perfect for some R&R. Thanks to everyone at Fleckvieh.
My child enjoyed herself tremendously and people are awesome there! The place with its calves, cows and blenders is just the place for a child! See the stars.
Wonderful on the farm, peaceful, beautiful nature. Nice place where you can kick off your shoes and just relax.
Great for cycling and hiking.
Quiet on the farm, away from it all, yet close to things to do over the holidays. People are friendly and helpful, which just makes it more special.
It's an oasis to just relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The view is beautiful and gives you the opportunity to appreciate nature. The units are well-equipped, very clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a place I will visit again.
See stars.
We had such a fun weekend. Thank you Jessica for your friendly help and the fresh farm milk.
Despite of the fact that we struggled to find the place, everything was very nice and neat. The city birds should definitely visit this place. And stay more than one night to see and experience everything.
What a beautiful place! We were three adults who stayed in the large chalet near the main house with a breathtaking view of the pond and valley, with the cattle trotting past in a long line twice a day between the pastures and the dairy. The bottle of fresh farm milk on day one was a pleasant surprise. The farm activities are not too early or too late disturbing and one can truly rest completely. The farm is centrally located to explore a large part of the Overberg. Highly recommended!
Comfortable, friendly and nice. Beautiful views.
The environment is breathtaking, convenient location if you want to go for a walk at Groot Vandersbosch Nature Reserve. What an experience being a part of the farm life and the animals. Warm welcome, felt at home immediately. All the staff crept into our hearts and were so good to us.
Fresh air and breathtaking view was wonderful.
I can't stop talking about the experience I had here! What an adventure! I would love to return. It's just beautiful!
It was a lovely break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The children enjoyed farm life and will always remember how the calves drank milk, the cattle walked to graze and how we took out eggs. The beautiful nature and green fields were food for the soul. We will definitely want to camp out in the new log cabins. The 4 days we did well and exactly what we needed.
Wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Beautiful views. Was a lovely break. Can recommend it for sure.
The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The farm was close to Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve, and there was plenty to do on the farm itself. The only negative point is a problem with the water supply and plumbing, which the hosts will attend to.
This is the perfect getaway place for someone that just wants to relax. It's just a pity that the bookings for horse riding aren't fulfilled by the people involved. The manager can learn a bit more about customer service and if someone needs something, gets it, instead of just leaving it and not giving any feedback.
I was welcomed by the manager who immediately organised someone to show me my room with a quick introduction of the area. I received a bottle of milk as a welcoming present and a bunch of wood was ready for my braai later on. The whole atmosphere is one of peacefulness and a real feeling that you are part of the farm.
Everything was just perfect. View of dam, hospitality, food. However, at night I felt like Snow White. The double bed was too small for me and my husband and too hard. Had a look at the other bed, but alas, it was also too hard.
See stars.
The accommodation was very clean and nice. Relaxing and refreshing.
Really enjoyed the horse riding and hiking trails too and the milk.
Place was very nice but hopelessly too many flies.
Very tidy and everything you need. The view is something to remember. Farm life at its best.
Awesome stay away from city buzz. Farm, lake, canoe, walks. But take games along for kids in the case of rainy weather.
Beautiful farm where we were warmly welcomed and helped by resident students, in particular with building a fire for us three hapless females trying out hand at braaing! The (student) accommodation was extremely basic with a lot of things on the displayed lists missing (including a toilet seat, as well as tea towels, bathmat, plates). Yet we thoroughly enjoyed the cows coming up and down from the green fields below, and our neighbours, the chickens. We look forward to the new wooden chalets which are being built near the dam - although guests may miss out on the daily involvement with the farm.
Owner not available, the lady that was overseeing didn't seem very interested. No braai facility, neatness could improve, impossible to sleep on the double bed, and got no eggs as mentioned on the info sheet on the wall. Beautiful area.
If you come looking for silence, the "Kalfie" chalets are not the right place to stay because the building is in the middle of the dairy and the chicken coop. Our neighbors next door could hear us constantly. The farm is beautiful with a nice view of the mountain and the river. Going for a walk is absolutely worth it.
We were disappointed. The website makes it look like Fleckvieh is part of Grootvadersbosch, but it's probably a good 10 km away. We first received an information sheet about things to do on the farm and surroundings the night before we left. There was too little braai wood available the first night. No bath plug. Pillows in sad condition. If you turn on the hot tap at the bath, you end up with the tap in your hand. Brackets and shelves broken. Kitchen insufficiently equipped, for example no salad bowl.
Although we had a lovely stay, unfortunately I have to say that it felt like we arrived unexpectedly. The grass had not been cut and only late afternoon after we had lit a fire to grill, a worker suddenly started cutting grass and threw us under the dust. The kitchen was not equipped with everything that was indicated on the inventory. Other guests received a bottle of fresh farm milk on arrival, but we did not despite the promise that they would bring it later. What is not mentioned is that the accommodation is very close to the new dairy which results in a multitude of flies. So remember to pack Doom!
It's a beautiful farm and peaceful weekend in nature, but owners must pay attention to maintenance. Blinds all broken, single bed mattresses very weak and too small for the base. A few accessories would be beneficial to also utilize the outdoors in relation to barbecue. E.g. some plastic chairs, good grill and also at least a drying cloth for washing dishes.
It is a pity that the neglect of the cottage ruined the beautiful nature and our experience at Fleckvieh Guestfarm
If you like farm life then this is the place for you. Teenagers could ride horses, swim and help milk calves. Afternoon lovely walk along the stream. Bonus was the free 6 fresh farm eggs, milk and bowl of Fliechvieh cream cheese and bag of wood. 10 out of 10 will want to visit for a week next time.
The free milk, eggs, wood and water is a real plus. The unit is modern and the farm atmosphere is relaxed. The only recommendations I can make are that the beds should be replaced - more pillows should be provided.
Absolutely stunning and the host was so friendly! Breathtaking views and the place has real farm vibe! We enjoyed it so much, especially my boy who had his own little horse outside thanks to Thys. Was wonderful!
Place found very easily. Wonderful reception. There is everything. It's neat and clean. Our children enjoyed the farm yard, fetching eggs and playing with dogs and the cat. It felt like "at home". Will come and live here again.
Beautiful surroundings, hospitality, comfort, good location to visit other towns and areas and good break from city life.
Stunning place and warm reception. I can recommend it anytime and my kids loved the snippet of farm life that we witnessed, seeing the milking of the cows and the lambs receiving milk. I will definitely be back if the opportunity presents itself.
Rest in nature! Excellent with fresh milk and eggs.
No amount off money can be placed on the peace and tranquility of Grootvadersbosch Guestfarm. Something to do for young and old, nature lover or just a city slicker who needs a break from the rat race. Clean and friendly service ... a true energizing experience. If you don't believe me, try them yourself.
The owners enthusiasm to share his knowledge and explain about the farm was a wonderful experience. This is a working farm were if you were interested you can explore, ask questions and all seem happy to help. Lovely walks and a relaxed atmosphere.
The location of Fleckvieh farm is good and there are many things to do and see within 50 km radius.
Oom Thys received us warmly and showed us around. He made us feel so comfortable and at home. The horses were saddled for us and stood in front of our room for a lovely morning ride. There was fresh milk and eggs for us to enjoy and you could even get up early and be part of the milking process and even help milk the calves. Oh, we will definitely return. It was the best happy place of our entire holiday in the Cape. Thank you!
It was absolutely nice stay. The owners were hospitable and friendly. The picture says it all.
For a family with grandchildren who love farm life it was unbeatable! The grandchildren want to return to Grootvadersbosch by force!
Directions were misleading we had trouble finding the farm. The welcome upon our arrival was friendly. Unfortunately the room smelled musty, and on the morning of our departure there was no water or anyone available to report it to.
