After a long day's drive from Cape Town it was a lovely place to sleep over. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the children had fun playing on the climbing frame. Will definitely book again on our next holiday. Only suggestion is to make WiFi available in the rooms.
We got there very late. Manager then WhatsApped us the menu in advance, so that she can prepare our food for when we get there. They were very friendly and helpful.
The glamping room was very small and basic but clean. The restaurant food was good. There was no bathroom in the room. We had to use an ablution block a few meters away, which was not clearly indicated on the booking site. All facilities were neat and clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly.
Everything you need for a night's stay. You don't need anything more (except maybe a small cabinet or table with a reading light next to the bed).

I have stayed at the Grunau Hotel several times over the past 2 years and have been 100% satisfied each time. The hospitality, accommodation and facilities are excellent. And the food is top notch. Truly my favorite stopover. Congratulations to everyone who works hard to keep the Grunau Hotel in such great condition.

We stayed at Grunau Country Hotel for one night on our journey from Henties Bay to Cape Town. We stayed in the budget rooms, which are excellent value for money if you're just looking for a place to sleep for one night. The beer in the bar was ice cold! The food was very tasty (try the springbok fillet and porridge, yes, I most likely have no culture in me with the porridge). The water in the ablution block was hot in both taps, nice if you like a very hot shower, not so nice if you would prefer a lukewarm shower.
Will use the place again and recommend to friends.
They can do more to control the thousands of mosquitoes and bugs (after the good rains). Maybe that ultraviolet electric mesh type stuff in a few places outside the housing units.
I was there just for the night and it was fine. The wifi does not work in the rooms but thats ok. They provide dinner and breakfast for an extra charge.
We were skeptical about the place at first but when we checked in we were surprised. Their restaurant's prices are very affordable and value for money, very tasty.
Sufficient, more of a motel than a hotel. But the photos do it no justice it definitely is better than what it looks like.
Don't rush here, restaurant is very slow, don't come hungry. I already ordered by phone 20 min before arrival and still waited 30 min just for plain steak. Only 2 other customers. Food was excellent though!
What more can one ask for than a good bed and good food when one has driven far. Staff make you feel like old friends. Excellent service and value for money. Won't stop at any other place. Best biltong and dry sausage too.

The owner and his staff are so friendly, you arrive as a stranger and leave as friends. Their biltong is also some of the tastiest we've had. The rooms are clean and the linen fresh. Make it your first stop when you enter Namibia, relax by the pool with a cold one to wash off the dust and tiredness of the long road. Their restaurant has a wide selection full of deliciousness. Go and experience Grunau like never before. You will be pleasantly surprised.

We slept our first night in Namibia at Grunau Country Hotel and what a surprise! A very old building and architecture that I really liked. Friendly reception and booking was perfect. The room we got was pretty clean and had everything we needed. The dining room and bar are something to appreciate. Thank you for a lovely overnight stay and breakfast.

The room was clean and tidy, but the boiler in the room is full of limescale and could be cleaned. We were very disappointed with the restaurant. The food appeared old, and as if it had been heated just before it was brought to us. The schnitzel I ordered was burnt and the oil it was fried in tasted very off/old. We told this to a member of staff and the lady just said that the oil was probably a bit warm and we still had to pay for it, even though it was inedible.

In the middle of the dry Namib Desert you find Grunau Country Hotel. It is clean and neat. Their food is great! A real oasis for travellers.
It might be beneficial to indicate that the rooms with 2 beds don't have their own bathrooms. Other than that it was great. We had nice meal and enjoyed our stay. Very friendly service.
We were very satisfied with the excellent and friendly service. The hotel is well located and very safe. The food is top notch and is prepared on demand to ensure freshness. The rooms are spacious and neat, the only problem was the fact that there is no mirror near a wall socket, thus making hair blowing uncomfortable. Her suggestion was to perhaps have a small stool by the mirror cabinet or mount the mirror on the wall by the wall socket. Also definitely value for money.

We wanted to barbecue that night. It was too cold to barbeque outside and they went out of their way to accommodate us inside with wood and drinks.

We were kindly received and the room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The toilet's water ran all the time, everything else was in working order. I would stay there again anytime.
The budget rooms are next to the shared bathroom and during the night it makes noise when someone opens or closes the corrugated iron doors.
With frequent power outages, they don't make much effort for the guests.
Stayed overnight at Grunau Country Hotel in September 2012 - was very satisfied with the accommodation. That's why we booked there again on our way to Namibia. What a disappointment! The standard was definitely not the same as 6 years ago. The linen on the beds looked worn, the plastic kettle with severe limescale had to be taken to the bathroom with a wire and all to fill with water at the sink (no cup to fill the kettle with), the coffee, tea and sugar were in old plastic bottles and best of all, the light in the room - 4 of the 6 bulbs were broken! We also felt the standard of the dinner left a lot to be desired. I don't think we will stay at Grunau Country Lodge again in the future.
The welcome was nice and the people very friendly and helpful. It's a nice atmosphere and just nice.
Great was our surprise when we got there and saw how beautifully everything was made beautiful with simplicity and antiques. Owners are very hospitable and friendly as well as their staff and we ate and visited deliciously - very homely and you immediately feel at home. The rooms are neat and clean and sufficient for a great night's rest. The yard is securely fenced and you feel safe and secure about your vehicle out there. Beautiful place in between, because the distances from town to town are far.
