Nice stay, only there was no DStv!
We had a lovely stay at Gunners Lodge. The owners were friendly and helpful with all our needs. The lodge is homely and inviting.

Was so relaxing! Enjoyed the coffee on balcony - close to nature.
Good location, central in the town. Walking distance to everything. Beautiful view from balcony. No key for door of room which is in the main house, and only on request key to front door of the lodge.
Upon arrival we were kindly received. Within 5 minutes, levites were presented. My grown children were told there were people right next to them so they shouldn't make unnatural noises late at night! Our puppy who has been traveling everywhere with us for 4 years and is fully trained has never soiled indoors. The morning after arrival we are not even greeted and ineptly informed that our dog defecated in their personal room upon our arrival, even though he was under our supervision the whole time. The rooms do not lock. The TV doesn't even have plugs on. The house and contents are very old and scary as hell! The rusk by the kettle in a plastic container is older than me. No Wi-Fi. Guests entered and after they saw the rooms drove immediately. Sorry, the place is in no way worthy of guests.

Place is neat. Everything was nice and tidy, the place is well located with restaurants in walking distance.
We enjoyed our stay at Gunner's. The owners were friendly, accommodating and even went the extra mile in offering us adjoining rooms. The rooms were neat and tidy. The reception was pleasant and the sleep was peaceful.
Basically no TV. Must watch one channel that owner watches. Unable to lock your room door when you leave the accommodation. Leaving after one night.
The owner received us and showed us the place. Everything was fine.
I only stayed overnight to attend a function and it was perfect for that. Gunner's Lodge may consider putting in 2-point plugs.
We have stayed at Gunner's on two other occasions. On both occasions booking two rooms. We have occupied all four rooms. I booked the Red room, it was cosy and a double bed. On arrival I was given the Blue room: an ice box, with two single beds. The owner dismissed my complaint, and said that it is all they have. Really? Needless to say, we will book other accommodation when next in Napier.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. It was very neat and the guesthouse was easy to find. They gave us good advice on where to go and eat.
Gunner was accommodating to my arrival and departure time. Could work and rest quietly.
We booked the blue room with 2 single beds but got a room with a double bed. Arranged in advance that we would come in late after a night out, but on return everything was closed and we had to pester the owner to come and unlock doors. Other than that it was a very good overnight experience and would recommend!
The time at gunners lodge was peaceful and would recommend it to everyone.
We were so happy with everything they offered. We had breakfast the morning before we returned home. I can really recommend them.

Clean, tidy, very friendly host and hostess. Very reasonable rate. Completely centrally located.
Good location, close to restaurants and the perfect base to explore the area.
Friendly atmosphere, beautiful peace and privacy. Central, everything was within walking distance.
Gunner's Lodge was selected as it was listed as a B&B which it is not. That was my fault for not reading the fine print. The room was clean but very basic and it was very cold. A heater would have helped. There was a hot water bottle but the kettle was a miniature one that took ages to boil and needed three fills to fill the hot water bottle. The best part was the shower. It worked well. I would not consider it good value for money.
It was really incredibly fun. We pretty much rested the time there.
