The accommodation consists of 4 guest rooms, situated in the lodge, and 4 separate self-catering units. The Lodge Pool Dble Lux, Lodge T King - Luxury, Twin Room, and Lodge King - Luxury each have an en-suite bathroom, tea- and coffee- making facilities, and glass french doors opening up onto a private balcony with beautiful views of the surrounding pine forests and trout dams. The Twin Room does have an interleading door to a room with a king bed, which can be booked together to form a 4-sleeper family unit. The Self-catering Fisherman's Cottage is off-the-grid and makes use of solar-assisted lights, a wood-fired donkey hot water system, and gas appliances.
The farm has 2 rainbow trout-stocked dams but for the enthusiastic fly fisherman, there is limited stream fishing with resident browns for the more experienced fisherman. Private fly fishing lessons and group clinics can be arranged on-site. After a day of fishing one can enjoy a drink at the bar, have a game of pool or darts then unwind in the sauna or swimming pool. Should it be chilly one can warm up around roaring log fires in the lounge. The Sabie area is truly a birders paradise, therefore, relaxing on the wooden decked patio and watching the abundant birdlife is a must. Other activities include farm trails and walks to the nearby waterfalls. Arrangements can be made for quad bike tours, horse riding, gorge-swinging, rafting, and many more activities.

Absolutely lovely setting. Quiet, peaceful, clean and perfect spot to simply escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Hosts are lovely and easy to deal with as well. Very accommodating.
We enjoyed our stay at Gunyatoo Trout Farm and Lodge. The place is absolutely beautiful and functional. It had everything we needed and more. Everything has been carefully considered to make it work for families, small groups, and larger groups. The rooms are spacious and very neat, and the entertainment space has all you need for entertainment. The views are amazing, and the hosts are absolutely wonderful. Did I also mention that it comes with cleaning services, which made our stay even more wonderful without having to worry about dishes for 20 people? I recommend Gunyatoo Trout Farm and Lodge to anyone wanting to experience nature and disconnect from the city noise.
Aside from the fact that the Stargazer has no power, we didn't even really notice. The donkey (for the hot water) works well. Would suggest that more wood be provided for the donkey. Also very nice.
We had a great stay in the Eco love shack. Forget there is such a thing as load shedding and sitting cuddly in front of the fireplace every night. It makes you forget about the realities and lets you relax peacefully. We had such a good time that we extended our stay by half a week. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They know the area and give good tips on activities to do in the area.

Our family wouldn't necessarily recommend it because it was off the grid. We would like to have an informed choice to decide whether we wanted to stay off the grid. Hot water using donkey stook No electricity. Christmas Eve camp lights only. Bottom 2 beds need attention. Mattresses need to be replaced. Owners were incredibly friendly and helpful.

What an amazing experience it was to stay here truly felt welcome and at home. Would recommend it to any and everyone wether you want to go away for a weekend or for a few weeks this is the perfect spot for all young and old. Eco Cottage is perfect even without power, the solar and gas was perfect. Debbie arranged recharging of extra lights. The donkey system for the geyser was not much fuss. The lodge area is perfect for the younger crowd that was with us.
Crisp white linen, well equipped log cabin. Lovely place to hang out at the main building with spring dipsticks, a pool table, swimming pool with deck chairs, and a fireplace.
The area has a lot of history and is located between the mountains and plantations. The road to Gunyatoo is reasonable and can be reached by normal vehicle. There are nice challenging mountain bike trails, some of them not for the beginners. You can also do the hiking trails and catch a fish or two too.

Very nice accommodation which is close to the attractions in the area. The hosts were warm and welcoming. We had a great stay.
We stayed in the log house and the stairs are not recommended with a small one. Everything that was needed in the house. Maintenance will soon need to be done on the house. The location is beautiful, but I would not recommend the place if you are serious about trout fishing. The description reads as a working trout farm. The trout hatchery is no longer operational for a long time. So I assume the ponds have not been stocked with trout for a long time. I would recommend the lodge for a regular get away weekend and don't be seen as fishing paradise.
It is a stunning place, the owners are very nice friendly people and the breakfast and dinner was something out of a book! Just amazing! We stayed in one of the rooms and breakfast and 5 course dinner were included in the price.We had a lovely stay and would definitely return! If your looking for just a break away, this is the best place to go.

The farm is an escape for the usual traveller. The hostess and host was friendly and helpful. The food was one for the books and detail went into every meal. Definitely a place I would recommend if you want rest for your soul and the most delicious food in the area.
We really enjoyed our stay in the self-catering cottage at Gunyatoo Trout Farm. Our arrival was well prepared (there were even fresh flowers in the cottage to welcome us!). I would definitely recommend a stay at this location if you like to be away from the crowds and to relax.
We were on a 3 day motorcycle tour and after a long day you need a good bed and food and that was exactly what we got. People were hospitable, we felt immediately at home and could kick off our shoes and enjoy a drink on our own private veranda with a view. The best part of Gunyatoo is the 5 course meal dinner...unbeatable! And just such a hearty breakfast. Value for money in capital letters!
We only slept there for 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer. The environment is clean and quiet and one feels one with nature. The woman who welcomed us was very friendly and we could ask her advice about anything. She was even willing to go the extra mile and make our group dinner, even though it's not even part of their business. I will definitely stay there again in the future.
Ons het een aand oornag op pad terug Pretoria toe. Gunyatoo Trout Farm was 'n wonderlike keuse. Die huis waarin ons gebly het is baie volledig toegerus met selfs warmsakke, verwarmer, kaggel, marshmallows en sjokolade. Ons sal dit beslis aanbeveel en met ons volgende stop sal ons die ontbyt bespreek.
We stayed in Fishermans Cottage, without electricity but very comfortable. Would recommend a change of crockry though - it is chipped and also a knew table cloth it is very stained. Otherwise had a wonderful secluded stay. Enough wood was provided, the heating system had enough hot water. The outside shower is wonderul, even in winter when we were there. The kids loved the forest walks, the streams and being free.
We had a very nice stay. Loved the house and we will think of it with warm memories. Nice people, nice place.

Fishermans Cottage is fully equipped with everything needed. The road down to the cottage was a bit rough for normal cars, but taller SUV vehicles have no problem. The atmosphere is fantastic and it is nice and far from the prying eyes and ears of other visitors. Nice and private!
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. The fireplaces were always burning and there was no shortage of firewood. The owners (Debbie and Bob) made us feel at home and went out of their way to meet our needs.

We had an overnight stay in May. We were accommodated in the small thatch cottage which was very tastefully decorated and most comfortable. Beautiful view and most tranquil.
The rooms are well equipped with a cozy fireplace in our room. The owners were really very good to us and I was half sad when we had to drive. The area is fairytale beautiful and is located inside a pine plantation. Would really recommend to nature lovers!

The only criticism is that the fishing opportunities are not as advertised, otherwise we really enjoyed the weekend. Will go there again!
We were very happy with the accomodation.
We had a nice stay. We were only disappointed about not being able to go to the caves which were situated on the farm, as there was no tour guide available; also horse riding trails are not on the farm but located in Sabie. Fishing was good and placed was very pleasant to stay in. Dirt road was a bit of a put off.
