Well equipped residential unit. One problem - no bench to put suitcase down (usually it's not that clean anymore after a long drive - bedding is pure white and silver clean) just put it on the floor.

After a long and difficult drive from Durban along the R 56, we arrived to a warm welcome from Pieter and Sonja. We were delighted to find a beautiful, clean, and modern room with all facilities, including a braai area. It was exactly what we needed after such a long trip. To top it off, we experienced load shedding, but the generator kicked in and it was as if load shedding didn't exist. Thank you again, Pieter and Sonja.

Our first overnight stay in Middelburg and it was a pleasant visit. Johan and Ilse told us so much about the town. Unfortunately, the school had a big party, but it was quiet again in the early evening and we were able to switch off and sleep peacefully. Guess where we'll book if we pass by again.

Excellent unit. The layout of the bathroom with its shower, toilet and sink is well planned. The kitchen is more than adequately equipped with a microwave oven, two plate stove, large fridge, coffee and tea making facilities. Coffee, tea, sugar and milk are a plus. The room with its quality and clean bedding is excellent. Tasteful decor and cute ideas for hanging clothes. Everything about unit number 3 is excellently planned and comfortable. Thank you Johan.

Halfway Rest is one of the best overnight stop places I have ever stayed in. It has an excellently equipped kitchen, bathroom, entirely adequate sleeping arrangements, air con (if you want it), TV, a lovely outdoor rest and braai area where you can get a breath of fresh air after a day in the car, and a covered car port where the smoker in our group could retire to have a cigarette as the rain bucketed down! Ilse the host is accessible and communicative but not intrusive. We felt so at home and relaxed after pretty arduous journeys in both cases. Excellent experience.

Top, top, top! Extremely private, namely one own cottage on the grounds, which has been maintained to perfection. Because the host is a commandant at the police, that sense of security increases significantly. The apartment is spotlessly clean and carefully furnished to ensure that the guests lack nothing. The host and hostess are ready to help with everything and gave as a tip Celtis, a restaurant two streets away. Also a shot in the arm! All in all: do! The price/quality ratio is exceptionally positive!

Unit is wonderfully warm with air conditioner and electric blankets so in the middle of winter! A well-equipped kitchen makes self-catering easy, especially if you're staying a few days. The hostess, Ilse, is so helpful and can be proud of such a nice and clean unit, definitely see you again!

Usually we sleep over in Graaff-Reinet, but this year we decided on Halfway Rest, in Middelburg. What a pleasant surprise, Johan and Ilse were very hospitable and the apartment had all amenities and the decor was beautiful. Beautiful linen and everything was painfully neat. Our car was under a carport and there was a security gate to the street so we felt very safe. The air conditioning dissipated the heat and we had a very good night's rest before embarking on the second part of our trek. I can definitely recommend Halfway Rest!
