140 guests' feedbackVery nice and tidy place right by the road, not too far out of town. Vehicle is open on a dirt parking lot right in front of your unit. All that was needed is in the unit. Very quiet, with a rooster crowing to wake us up. The restaurant was already closed, when we got there a little late in the afternoon.
Room was neat and we could use their kitchen and dining room.
A safe and nice peaceful farm feeling with good value for money.
We were very late at the guest house, around 11.30pm. We had ordered dinner earlier, but because she didn't want to offer us cold food, Corrie offered to cook food for us two hungry travelers at that time of the evening. Delicious dinner with lamb chops, fresh chips, vegetables and salad. We felt like VIPs. The air conditioner was on when we got into the room, and we were warned not to leave the door open because of the mosquitoes. The bed was very comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. Because the guest house is on a farm, very close to the N12, I guessed the security a little later, because there are no security gates. However, because this is the Namaqualand, where other types of hospitable people live, I did not feel threatened at all, or felt that it was dangerous. Corrie was so hospitable, and the surroundings of the farm and hills around the guest house so beautiful. It is so different and beautiful than what I know that it was all just one great privilege and adventure to spend the night there with her. Remember, it's an overnight facility, not a resort, so you stop there to sleep and possibly enjoy dinner. Even though the restaurant is no longer open, you can arrange with Corrie for dinner, and her food is truly delicious. Don't pay attention to all the bitter reviews that other people have written here. They look at everything in life through dirty glasses and nothing will be good enough for them. The place is given completely undeserved bad feedback. We had a wonderful stay here, and would stay here again if we could. Thank you very much Corrie.
We had a nice stay. The beds were very comfortable and we slept nice and warm and showered. It was special to wake up every morning to the crowing of a rooster or two right outside your door. Phone reception - zero. There was WiFi, but the signal was very weak. We ate a nice homemade lamb dish.
The place is sufficient for an overnight stay. We are unsure about the functioning of the restaurant.
Hananja is located very close to Springbok and convenient for driving out to the National Park and nearby towns. Our stay was lovely and would definitely recommend it to other flower watchers.
The name and advertisement suggests that there are restaurant facilities, but alas it appears to be still under construction.
Somewhat of a disappointment! Fellow guests were rowdy and unruly! Hananja is conveniently located along the road.
Value for money and peaceful atmosphere.
Person handling the check-in was not available. We had to drive back to Springbok to get MTN signal. We specially booked the unit with 2 single beds. There is no such unit. We were then given two rooms.

It's very disorganized, first the lady ran out of gas for the restaurant's cooking. We had to shower in ice cold water after I was given a room I didn't even book. The only good thing was the food. It was delicious.
The only problem is the repeated electric power outages, but it's a national problem!
Some things faulty in room. Owner offered to fix them immediately.
Restaurant not functioning. It's out of town so we had to drive back to town to buy food, kitchen set up but no dish soap. It was still acceptable accommodation.
No ventilation in room. Kitchen and microwave very dirty. Shower dirty and rusty. Bed uncomfortable. Pillows very poor quality. No place to charge phone.
Was sufficient for an evening's overnight stay. Unfortunately sat without power that night. Eskom power was cut off. Not sure what the problem was. We have regular loadshedding in SA, so maybe that could have been it.
We had a great time at Hananja lodge outside Springbok. I would definitely recommend it. Aunt Corrie is very friendly and hospitable.
Was very peaceful bring outside Springbok.
We were met with a beautiful display of flowers on the farm.
Feel right at home and welcome. Cute and delicious atmosphere that prevails there and surrounded by farm animals.
What a wonderful hostess she is. Corrie Mulder gets full marks from me. We stayed there twice six weeks apart and would stay there again anytime. These are well appointed, neat places to stay with everything at your disposal. Thank you Corrie and your staff for making our two nights there comfortable for us.
Convenient location and good if travelling with a group. Very friendly host and the breakfasts and dinners were excellent and good value. Erratic cellphone signal, but they were in the process of setting up WiFi. Some rooms were self-catering and others had fewer facilities which were not clear on the booking. However, they let us use the dining area and provided anything we asked for.
Hospitable reception and assistance during the stay. Comfortable, clean accommodation in a peaceful atmosphere.

The directions were a bit confusing. Everything else was fine.
The lodge is very rustic and the restaurant doesn't really offer meals but rather a set meal in the evening. This was excellent value and suited our needs.
Comfortable for overnight stay.
Friendly reception and staff. Quiet environment, no cell phone in rooms, no WiFi in rooms - only in dining hall. Extremely limited TV in rooms. View only by request in dining hall. No restaurant as advertised. Delicious dinners and picnic baskets on request.
Can guest house please ad changed. There is no restaurant available, the mobile phone signal is almost zero, as is the WiFi signal. After other 3 places really disappointed.
Clean rooms. Friendly service.
No DStv channels, instead were OpenView channels. No WiFi available, moreover no explanation before it was asked. The television is the size of a mouse. Very far from the quality I am used to for value for money. For the same amount of money I could get much better.
Booked over two months ago and mentioned our dog traveling with us, on arrival was told that the self catering units were already booked.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. The residential units are very neat and comfortable. The whole setting is quiet and peaceful and very safe.
Warm friendly people who make you feel at home. Nice farm atmosphere, where you can leisurely walk around, view the environment and animals
Hananja Lodge is not luxurious, but is neatly and comfortably furnished. All that is needed is there.
It is clean and tidy with very friendly staff, immediately felt at home and it is also nice and quiet.
Farm atmosphere, extremely friendly reception and very good service. Recommended for overnight stay.
To clarify, I should mention that some of the rooms face east and others face west. Stay away from the west facing ones. When you walk into the room there is a kitchen with a small living room. The heat in there was unbearable. 12 o'clock at night you still couldn't sit there. It was too hot. You can't leave the sliding door open either, funny bugs running around there. The room is nice and spacious with air conditioning. Because the kitchen is so hot, you live in the room on the bed. There is a small TV sitting up on the roof so you have to lie down and watch TV (nothing worth watching though because of the silly package). Mobile reception for Vodacom is sporadic.
The places were not up to standard at all. There is no reception area where you can check in. The kitchen cabinets are falling apart. There were spiders in the cauldron. The fridges did not work. A three-quarter mattress is placed on top of a single bed mattress to make the bed higher. The paint is peeling off inside the rooms. There were cobwebs in the shower. The towels and sheets are stone cold and washed. I had to ask that the dogs' waste be picked up in front of our unit. When I wanted to pull the curtain away for light in the unit, the whole curtain and rod fell on top of me. WiFi only works in the restaurant area and not in the units. Had it not been so late in the afternoon, we would have looked for other accommodation.
Place very clean, tidy and comfortable owner and staff very friendly and helpful.
Our stay was top notch once again! Thank you so much!

What a cute place!. Hananja was ideal for us as a large family. We were received very kindly and a lot of special effort was made for us. Meals were delicious every time!. It felt like we were not far from home!.
We had a great time outside Springbok and experienced the Namaqua culture and it's great, people still have time for others who visit. I will visit again.
Nice overnight stay. Room was clean and tidy. Owner was very hospitable and waited for us as we arrived later.
Ons het Sondag aangekom, maar die restaurant was gesluit. Nietemin het die dame kos gemaak. Uitstekend. Ook wonderlike geselskap van die ouer dames. Dankie.
We enjoyed our stay at Hananja, the only problem was the lack of internet to enable one of our party to pay her account. It would have helped had this potential problem been brought to our attention before our arrival. Nobody travels with cash these days as it is unsafe. The lodge is quite a way out of town, so it is not the easiest thing to pop into the bank to draw money. Wi-Fi is almost essential to travellers these days, and it should be provided adequately. The furniture is basic, but comfortable. All appliances worked. The bathroom was spotless, but the lack of hot water on a cold morning was something we did not bargain for! The animals were a nice touch, especially the camel.
The accommodation is neat and clean, but very basic. So is the restaurant's menu, although the portions are very generous and the prices reasonable.
Slightly confused on arrival to find the room, other than that the stay was good. Had a nice dinner, could give a little more attention to cleanliness.
The reception was friendly and the setup made us feel right at home. However, we found that the room had shortcomings for us. They can put 2 benches in the room to store our bags and other luggage. It's hard to put it on the floor and do everything on your knees. Placing the wardrobe in front of the window is inappropriate. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our overnight stay.
Very friendly and hospitable received by Winnie. The room somewhat cramped second single bed halves the entrance to the bathroom which makes it difficult to get through. Embroidered duvets impressed. The door of this particular room should be replaced, it has a huge crack in it. Due to a pigeon loft and partition in which goats, donkeys and a camel are kept, for one's amusement, flies are a nuisance in the rooms and restaurant and should be dealt with.
To recommend a quiet stay, provided that everything is in working order and self-catering equipment is complete.
Hananja must first bring accommodation up to standard. Rather 2 single beds in a room than a double bed. Water is very important so plan B must be there.
Positive: room and bathroom very neat and clean. Negative: No receptionist or person who can tell me where everything is and how the restaurant works. Toilet paper was limited to the roll that was there and during the night I had a problem with toilet paper when there was no longer any more. On the morning of the departure I just left the key just as I saw no person to whom I could hand the key back. I didn't get the TV to work and it was frustrating. WiFi: The ad said that there is WiFi, but I was not told about username and password.
Basic small room with no choices as room chosen on website was not given.
On arrival lady in room was tired after a show. Wrong room, dirty, shower leaking, toilet broken, light not working and very dirty. Got a fly in coffee at breakfast. Never been Hananja Lodge!
Outside the hubbub of the town with a farm atmosphere.
We enjoyed it a lot. The rooms have everything you need and are very comfortable. We also ate at the restaurant. The food was inexpensive and by the best food we've ever eaten!
The farm and tranquility were food for the soul because you could walk around freely and enjoy the fresh air. The staff did not hesitate to help when you needed help. On the contrary, they go the extra mile for their guests. The pizza was delicious. Thank you very much.
Had the best pizza ever here.
The people are friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent. Visit the lodge and take a break.
Hananja is very safe and close to town. The food is delicious and they specially made for us what we wanted to eat as vegetarians and at the times that suit us! The farm is open, safe and quiet with many animals such as peacocks, donkeys, camels, sheep. Flemish horse stud beautiful and we were only there 1 night to look at flowers. Even though it was cloudy, the stone cups were covered with orange daisies. The farmer is also extremely hospitable and adds a nice hall and facilities. Definitely worth the drive!
Can recommend Hananja for accommodation.
Very friendly, hospitable staff. Delicious food in the restaurant. Nice quiet, farm atmosphere. Very tidy and welcome gift on the bed.
Me and Toekie and Mollie, our dog, had a wonderful stay for 4 nights. For me as a plant lover, especially succulents, it was wonderful to be able to drive around the farm. Many thanks to the Mostert family for being such kind and pleasant people with us. I didn't know in Namaqualand they could build a wedding hall so quickly and have it done on time. It was also very nice to watch the horses practicing with the carts. We also had a very nice meal in the restaurant. We will definitely visit again.
We had a lovely braai, quiet and delicious. There was everything we needed and management stepped in where needed. However, feel the services of a good handyman are needed to make small fixes eg. door handle and water pipes in the kitchen. Thank you again, would definitely recommend!
Very quiet and relaxing, nice country atmosphere. True Namakwaland. Room two can do with a new bed.
Good experience and saw beautiful flowers despite the cold and wind.
The rooms are very neat and adequate for the purpose for which we booked. The landscape is hard and unapproachable, but precisely in that lies the charm.
Stay at Hananja Lodge and Restaurant was very pleasant. Owners friendly and helpful. Facilities were decent and definitely value for money and also quite safe.
It was quite difficult to find accommodation in the Springbok area as it is flower season. However, the lodge was a comfortable overnight stop and definitely value for money. The restaurant is nice, but the menu is a bit sparse in terms of options for meals.
The staff was very friendly. The bedding was clean and tidy, but unfortunately the two chairs in the room were very dirty and we therefore did not use them at all. The room also smells like smoke. Furthermore, a very unpleasant smell of vomit filled the bathroom every time we used the shower. There was no Wi-Fi in our room and we had to go to the restaurant when we wanted to use it. We also had to ask for the password first. The air conditioner helped a lot with the heat.
The location was very nice but the unit is a bit cramped. Breakfast there was nice.
It's very beautiful and the food is good at the restaurant. The bed had been very very uncomfortable. There was no power or hot water throughout the night and we were not informed about it ahead of time. I would recommend the mattress be replaced.
To start with we were moved to other rooms 3 times because of the fact that our booking was not made. At the end we stayed in a self-catering unit. It needs upgrading. There was no mirror where I can dry my hair. Have stayed in better places for less per night. Did not feel very welcome.
We arrived late afternoon. The rooms booked are as follows: Tikvah 2 and Emunah 1. The lady took us to Kadosh 7. The 2nd room was not ready yet. The younger lady said we only booked for 2 persons. They scrambled to get the 2nd room ready. The power to the fridges was off and the fridges were defrosting and they put milk in the fridge which was off. We couldn't turn on the TV. Suspect wrong remote control in the rooms. Couldn't lock the security door or wooden door. The boiler's wire is open (the 3 conductors are visible and up. This can cause an electric shock). The electrical supply is right next to the water and SANS 10142 says that it should be "out of arm rich". The hand soap dispenser had been empty. Shower floor was exceptionally smooth. The other room's shower floor had been sticky. Dishwashing soap is simply in a glass bottle. When I brought the points to the receptionist's attention she mentioned that there were quite a few people in the room the night before.
We will go there again.
Owner very friendly and helpful. Restaurant very nice. Comfortable rooms and bathrooms.
We had a very nice stay. Thank you for your hospitality.
Our overnight stay was wonderful!
Good location outside of Springbok next to the main road. Very tranquil, safe and neat.
Very nice stay, clean rooms, friendly people and good food. What more do you want? There are also cute farm animals and a playground for the children. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
If you like the tranquility and nature, this is a place to look forward to!
What a wonderful stay at Hananja Lodge. The room was first class, the atmosphere so hospitable. The owner and staff impressed with their kindness. We had such a great evening socialising at Hananja. Thank you for prioritising warmness and friendliness above making money. We would recommend you to everyone and will definitely visit again.
Recommended! Route indication vague, had to ask for directions to get out of town. Horse-drawn carriage ride a delightful surprise! Slept well, very peaceful and quiet.
Mooie liggin , gaan er een zwembad bij bouwen en meer self-catering accommodatie, zal nog meer reden zijn om te boeken.
Hananja is nice for an overnight stay and the friendliness of the owner and staff is overwhelming. We also went to eat at the restaurant and their food was delicious. However, the rooms are a bit small and cramped, especially if you have a lot of luggage. Little foxes bothered like the security gate that wouldn't lock, outside lights burning all night and lighting up the room.
Thank you for a lovely stay. Will definitely stay there again.
The unexpected donkey, camel and boer goats (with cubs) on the lodge's grounds were the biggest treat! You would also have to travel far into South Africa to see a more beautiful sunset. The room also has a small lounge separate from the bedroom which makes it more comfortable. Few kitchenware for if you are going to stay longer than 2 days in the self-catering. There are a lot of mosquitoes in Springbok, so remember the Peaceful Sleep. Thank you for the lovely stay.
We really enjoyed it and will definitely recommend it.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hananja!
My wife and I want to give Elsabe Lucas, Gert and Winnie van Niekerk the highest praise. The hospitality, delicious reception, tasty meals had been exceptional. Even more their effort to store some of our personal belongings when we went to Namibia for a few days. No effort was spared. Praise and thanks to these lovely people!
A few days before we had already been there, and now it was only 1 night before as a stopover. Just like the first time, again received with open arms and a good meal.
We had a nice stay and the morning meal that Mr E Mostert and his helpers prepared was out of the books.
Very pretty place in the world.
Door locks, curtains, toilet, TV etc. is not provided for and leads to frustration.
Although the room was fitted with all the basic needs, the bed was a bit wobbly and the room small. I asked for breakfast earlier, but was told that it only started at 8 am, no cold breakfast was offered. For the price I do think it was fair though.
Host lady and staff very friendly and hospitable.
Very quiet and peaceful, friendly staff. We talked about problem that the host can address.
Enjoyed the stay. Staff were friendly. Rooms were neat and clean.
Upon arriving we were unsure of where to sign in, the lady on duty was firstly in her pajamas and secondly unaware of the fact that we would stay there. We were also not informed that there was no water available. I think HananNEE summaries it. Room was clean and tidy at least.
Unsafe for vehicle. Close to main road and noise.
Very disappointed in the accommodation this time. Doors to our room couldn't lock and there was no DStv unlike 2016 and no cellphone reception.
Eddie waited for us and welcomed us. The rooms were neat and clean. We were truly well taken care of and felt like guests of honour. They went to a lot of trouble to make our stay as comfortable and peaceful as possible. I can highly recommend Haranja Lodge.
Thank you for your kindness and helpfulness, would love to visit you again!
Getting to Hananja was a bit difficult because we don't know the area at all. The room was clean and we found the people very friendly - the evening was also very quiet where you can almost look at the stars because it is a little way out of town. The animals that are kept were also a pleasant addition - I would make the old cute meerkat's cage more animal-friendly as well as put in a toy or six. The little guy looks very bored in the cage. Thank you for your effort.
Friendly reception and we were immediately at ease. Everything was there that we needed. The restaurant: I ordered rump steak and for the first time in a very long time I received meat that looked and tasted like rump steak. Many, many thanks for this. Will stay longer next time to see more of the area.
If you sleep over at Hananja you make friends. The staff is very helpful and the owner carries you on his hands. Was a fantastic experience. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The restaurant serves very tasty food at reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend it.
It was very neat ad comfortable with friendly service and excellent food.
We enjoyed the stay and highly recommend the place. Small things that can be fixed such as soap and shampoo in the bathroom. I prefer Nescafe in stead of Ricoffy, but that's personal. The lovely experience makes up for the small things.
Warmly received in Afrikaans. Unit was clean and tidy. Quiet farm accommodation, very nice. A few signs at the entrance to the lodge would help a lot, since there are other houses on the premises.
Tidy place. They cater for your needs. Very helpful.
See the ratings.
It was wonderful at Hananja Lodge. My son could feed the donkeys carrots and we could walk peacefully in the field. The food in the restaurant is delicious. The host really cares about his customers.
We enjoy our stay at Hananja Lodge. The food was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. Entrance for disabled to the rooms needs attention.
This is another brand new place, very clean, friendly reception, great time with other guests in restaurant where meals are provided. More expansions are planned, will visit again.
Very friendly people. Nice meals in reataurant.
Seeing as how it's still a very new place, it's difficult to give a full summary. The only bad thing was that there was no cellphone reception.
The building is brand new. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The prices are good. The food is well prepared. Nothing was too much trouble.
The place is neat and clean but the room is cramped.
Friendly, warm people.
Had a nice stay. Owner goes out of his way to make you feel at home. We felt at home and staff were very helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
The food was delicious and was served with pride. The room was clean and tidy, but a few things are needed: small shampoo, small soap and small milks in the fridge for coffee. With a few tweaks it could be a fantastic place.
The room is a bit small, but for an overnight facility it was more than sufficient. The staff are very friendly and the food in the restaurant was delicious and well prepared. The peacefulness of the area helped us get a great night's rest.
The room was very small. The fridge froze all our food. We at there one night, but the food wasn't quite up to standard, in our opinion.
Service at restaurant could have been better.
We were the only guests and felt very alone. The rooms are very close to the main road to Kleinzee. There is no mobile phone reception ─ if something were to happen then you are dependent on yourself. It is very neat and the staff is very friendly.
A bit far from town. Hospitable and friendly owners.
The barbeque facilities were very poor at that time. Grills were under construction but had no grills. So the place doesn't qualify as a "self-care" facility at all.
It looked as if this was a rush job to finish, and very badly done. A kettle and a fridge do not constitute self-catering to me, so we were then almost forced to use the restaurant for catering. The rooms were small and sitting outside in the wind was not the best experience.
The reception and people were friendly, but the restaurant made a noise the whole night. We expected more for the price we paid.
Avoid this destination!
