Our stay at Harbor House Hotel was everything we hoped for. Luxurious, stylish units, everything we needed and friendly service. Breakfast was top notch. Location was ideal, a view of the sea and the proverbial stone's throw from all the restaurants on the coast road. The pool where we could relax and enjoy a drink was also a winner.
Recommended, expensive for us South Africans!
The location is perfect because you can walk everywhere. But specify on the website that the standard rooms are not at the main hotel. You think you book there, pay dearly and are damn excited and then you stay in the little white building across the road. Our aircon did not work and breakfast service was a bit slow.
Stayed in Harbour Square where we were about 50m from the sea, restaurants, shops etc. Had stunning views from our balcony, and our accommodation was spacious and very comfortable.
Friendly staff, a pleasant experience, will visit again.

Our stay was an absolute highlight of a three week driving and touring holiday. The facilities are all 5 star, the staff are nice, friendly and helpful and the location is twice 5 star.

We had a bit of an issue when we arrived about not getting the room I requested through the website. The hotel did eventually put me in a room with the same view I had wanted so that was solved and Erica front manager did a fantastic job of pleasing us. However, on the website form I completed I specifically asked for a certain room type (sea facing). The hotel was not advised of this so not their fault. On contacting the website I got a call back about an hour after I logged a call and after the mini crisis was over. The explanation I received indicates you need to upgrade your system/forma. I was told that because I paid immediately, the website nor the hotel could see my request? Not sure how that works, what is the purpose then of putting it in the form. I should then in future email requests separately? Would suggest you update your system to avoid this happening to other guests, and giving you a headache?
Would definitely recommend for a romantic getaway with the most beautiful view.
Unfortunately Nespresso machine didn't work (coffee came out cold). Electric kettle lead was too short and needed to be plugged under the table.
Harbor House offers the ideal opportunity to just switch off. All facilities are available and clean. The view of the ocean is breathtaking and the service at the hotel is very good.
We stayed in the newer part of the hotel across the road from reception and the rooms were very nice, modern and clean. We had everything we needed. Breakfast was included and we also were able to book a couples massage on Saturday. The hotel is super central with a wide variety of restaurants to visit. Would definitely recommend Harbour House Hotel to friends.
We really enjoyed the breakfast they provided in the mornings. You can choose from a few options. The service is fast and the breakfast very tasty. The rooms were pretty neat and cleaned every day if you prefer. Our bakkie was also safely parked behind a gate and under cover. We also really enjoyed the pool every day. The hotel is also centrally located close to all the restaurants and the town centre. We walked to where we wanted to be. I would be able to recommend the hotel.

We stayed in a Harbor House Classic Suite. Secure parking on site. Kitchen with everything you need (fridge, microwave, coffee maker, coffee "plunger", tea and coffee, etc.). Nice comfortable bed. Large spacious room. Small balcony with partial sea view (is more wind-sheltered than the residential units that have a sea view). Nice bathroom with bath and shower. Nothing was missing. Very nice breakfast (enough to keep you going until the evening). Elevator. Wheelchair friendly. Was nice and quiet.
Big spacious rooms. Good view of the sea from the balcony, even spotted some whales. Having breakfast included was great and tasty. Worth sitting outside to eat with a view over the bay.
Hubby especially enjoyed the Nespresso machine, so take extra pods and milk with you! Deli style breakfast provided is delicious and extras are cheap. Wonderful view of the entire bay! Beautiful pool!
We loved the location and could walk everywhere with our car parked safely in the basement. Although the usual room cleaning was not available (COVID regulations) we kept it neat. The complimentary breakfast next to the pool with a view of the bay is the best! Friendly staff with great advice on dinner options.

We had a great stay and saw many whales from our balcony.
We saw some whales, had a beautiful Saturday, with mild weather. Sunday stormy! Hosts allowed us to book out later: very accommodating.

All that was negative for us, no DStv due to problems with setup, apparently the website should have let us know. Air conditioner did not work, extractor fan in toilet did not work. Window not sealed well which caused cold air to blow into room. I rolled up a towel and pressed it against the window frame to keep out the cold.
It was a beautiful experience, the hotel has amazing sea views. I think they can do better with complementary snacks, especially in the luxury suites. But overall the customer service is number 1! Big thanks to Erica one of their receptionists.
Room 13 we had to stay in smelled so much like smoke, they were forced to move us to Room 33. There was a hole in the sink, the shower strip that should stop water was loose and they had to come and fix it. The door strip at the sliding door was broken and could not close.
We really had a great stay, the staff were friendly and accommodating and knowledgeable about the surrounds. The only slightly negative was the enclosed parking, my opinion is that the bays are too narrow to accommodate vehicles bigger than a medium SUV.

Excellent option weekend and short holiday option. Wash in Classic Suite; nice balcony and view. Totally redone. Parking was a problem; space in basement was too small; could not park car, C200 Mercedes, there.
For all my years that I have been alive, it has been a dream for me to stay at the hotel with the swimming pool by the sea. After how long of saving and the most expensive I have ever paid for a place to stay I was incredibly disappointed. The rooms are perfect, location is ideal but the little things made my arrival very unpleasant. When we got there there was a problem with parking. A bakkie does not fit in any of the parking areas at all. Then a problem was that I had arranged for flowers and champagne on arrival, but there were none. It did get there after we ate that night, but it missed the whole point. The WiFi is not working. Then during the night it sounds as if the plumbing pipes are getting air and it therefore makes noises all night which basically makes it impossible to sleep. Luckily we got up early, because on Saturday morning at half past 8 they also started working on the road outside the hotel and if I wanted to sleep in it would have annoyed me to no end. I suggest you look at the WiFi situation and especially at the plumbing pipes, because you come to rest and those sounds that the privilege completely go away.
Rooms don't have aircon.
I was a bit annoyed when I arrived and realised that we are not booked in at the actual hotel, but one block further. The aim was to be on the sea, at the sea. Even when I contacted the hotel nobody corrected my understanding that the booking is not really at the hotel, but rather in another location. It was not that bad location wise, but it is not what I believed I booked. Secondly the insistence on a breakage deposit without a walk-through with the staff is not on. My attempts to point out issues which could affect breakage deposit was ridiculed which I did not appreciate. I would recommend, but would be very clear that people should be clear about where they will stay, and that the deposit story is managed. I was advised on arrival that a cash deposit is preferable. I feel that could have been shared upfront. Restaurant service not very good.

The Harbor House Hotel is my favorite accommodation option in Hermanus and I always try to get help there first.
Very comfortable, safe environment and close to everything. Will stay there again if the opportunity arises.
I can only complain about TV channels which mostly didn't work. The bathroom faucets leaked and as a Capetian it bothered me. The food was very tasty and service was good.
The shower was leaking and bedding on the bed was not comfortable too small for the bed also the key to our unit fit the unit langsang too. Everyone was friendly though.

We were received very kindly and got the exact room I asked for. The room, service and accommodation were top notch. Only 2 small things, the bath mat/towel and one of the face towels did not appear 100% clean and we did not have hot water in the bath/shower at 8 pm on Saturday night.

Beautiful place, location, neat, exactly where I wanted to be, but there is definitely a problem with the staff at reception/telephone/management, no dedication, management not visible, not involved. Maintenance walked around on Sunday morning swearing and yelling, it's apparently an outside person, but it spoiled our breakfast in a lovely tranquil area! It's a pity that there are underlying issues with staff, it surfaces in the people working on ground level, makes them uncomfortable and shy!
Blind in bathroom removed and not replaced - light shines in room all night. Month-end market stalls broken down by workers after hours. Steel thrown down and Noisy till 24hoo. Surely work can be done during the day.
Harbor House staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. It was my mother's first time in Hermanus and Harbor House made our time there very enjoyable. The breakfast was also very tasty and offers good value for money.
The setting, staff and management was the best. We will definitely stay here again.

We slept over Friday and Saturday night. Very friendly staff with a nice atmosphere. Breakfast is some of the best I've experienced and I'm talking about global hotels. Will definitely use it again if I need accommodation in Hermanus.
