What a stunning place to stay. Immaculately clean. Everything you need for self-catering. Billy and Nolene are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Rescue donkeys on the property with a stream flowing through.
The lovely rooms were perfect and quaintly decorated, and the donkeys are such an awesome attraction. The weekend in Wakkerstroom itself was lovely, from the Saturday Market and street party that night to the quaint shops, restaurants, and history of the town. We got to meet one of the local artists, Louise Dainty (two of her paintings were in one of the rooms that we stayed in), who had her paintings on display in the town, and we bought two of them. We will recommend Hare's Rest for all who like to visit small towns and love to interact with the locals and learn about the history of the towns.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hare's Rest during our recent birding adventure. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a genuine passion for nature. The cozy room provided the perfect retreat after a day of exploring, and the comfortable bed ensured a restful night's sleep. The highlight, however, was the breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape from our window, allowing us to enjoy the beauty of the local birdlife from the comfort of our room. The attention to detail in the decor and amenities truly made us feel at home. Additionally, we will recommend Hare's Rest for all fellow birders and nature enthusiasts seeking a tranquil and memorable getaway.

We really enjoyed the bird watching in the area. Noeleen was very hospitable and we had a nice chat. The place is comfortably furnished and the garden is breathtaking. Our bird watching trip was very successful thanks to the information in the apartment.

The place is beautiful. Neat and very clean. Fresh air, away from busy days is just what we needed.
Hare's Rest was a particularly beautiful place among the mountains. Safe, clean and very nice atmosphere.
The owners Nolene and Billy quickly made us feel at home with their hospitality. Here you get a nice farm feel. Feeding the donkeys every afternoon was our little girl's highlight. Nolene and Billy felt like grandma and grandpa to her on the farm. They love children very much and treated her with so much love and patience. Our vehicle broke down. Billy provided me with good advice and helped me get my vehicle repaired at Volksrust. Billy transported me to Volksrust 2 times at his expense! The Wakkerstroom flows through the farm at the foot of a hill. Most beautiful scenery! It is also a birdwatching paradise and the highlight was the 2 Spotted Owls that made themselves at home in the large trees on the banks of the stream. The accommodation and premises are very neat, clean and comfortable. Thank you very much for all the care and lovely visit. Thank you for going the extra mile with us. It is really appreciated!
