39 guests' feedbackVery still. My boys really enjoyed the fishing. There were cell phone and data interceptions. Will go again.
We are a large group that celebrated a 50th birthday. Really enjoyed the privacy and scenery. Very nice farm and nothing was lacking. Excellent service received from owner and also the workers. Would definitely recommend the farm and definitely visit again. Very relaxing and very beautiful scenery. Nice fishing too.
Very nice environment. Houses are very comfortable and tidy. Everything you need is there. We were a big group and really enjoyed the farm. Private and nothing to disturb you. Workers provided excellent service throughout the long weekend. Also received very good service from owner. There was nothing too short and nothing to complain about. Will definitely visit again and would certainly recommend the farm for large or small groups. Very beautiful scenery and nice ponds for fishing and nice walking trails between the trees. Road is a bit bad, but definitely worth it.
Everything nice and tasty. Lots of potential, just needs a bit of renovation and beautification. 2x toilet rings were loose, e.g.
Nice fish caught, but the place is neglected, untidy, not deforested for a long time. Lots of fish moths in the house, our clothes have holes.
Lovely place, but had some reservations: they mean it when they say the road needs a high clearance vehicle, no service or contact with the host despite calling several times, the MTB track has not been maintained.
The road to Hartfell Farm is bad in places but it was worth the drive, will definitely visit again.
Some of the furniture was broken. Nice big comfortable beds. Needs some TLC, but I believe that is the plan in the next month. Walking paths and MTB paths also need some work. Couldn't find the waterfall as it was a bit overgrown.
Can enjoy a walk on the farm. There are just a few things that need to be renovated and replaced. There are just a few things that need to be renovated and replaced.
We stayed in Hartfell Farm Cottage over the Easter weekend. The farm is very beautiful with fishing ponds, trees, lawns and a waterfall. We didn't catch any fish but apparently there are bass. The house is spacious and comfortable especially the living room has a large fireplace and a comfortable sofa and chairs. The house needs TLC, e.g. the dishwasher and microwave oven are broken, bathroom door is sliding off the hinges etc. The owner and cleaner were friendly and helpful. The road to the farm from Dullstroom was almost impassable, especially after the rain, even with a 4x4 vehicle.
We loved being out in the open with nature all around.
Would heartily recommend Heartfell Farm.
We had a very nice stay, and were able to rest well! Nothing and no one near you, only nature around you and a nice little pond for fishing, a stone's throw from the porch. The large fireplace in the living room was perfect for the cold evenings and for enjoying a glass of red wine. The old farmhouse with the antique furniture may not be to everyone's taste, but the house is well equipped for self-catering. We will definitely visit again.
Comfortable house. Almost everything you need. We had a great time. Bed is comfortable, kitchen has everything you need. Wonderful area. Neat and clean. Home could do with a bit of paint and repairs. WiFi would also be great, because the cell signal is weak.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Hartfell Farm with a group of friends and family. Beautiful dams and nice morning walks made for lots of time outside with the kids. Would very much recommend.
We have already told all our friends and family.
Beautiful setting looking over a lovely trout dam in a remote position. Very comfortable lodge well-equipped with big fire places. A truly African lodge and setting.
If there is something I would recommend is to replace the mattresses, the current mattresses have been slept through, but otherwise everything was perfect.
Beautiful environment, cottage neat and convenient. Enough wood to enjoy the fireplace all night.
Perfect if you go as a couple or a group. One of the best views. The best part about it is the dam you have to yourself, as well as the private waterfall you have to wake up to every morning. I will definitely be going back there.
We will do it again, I just believe safety is a big problem, especially for us coming from Gauteng. Would like to see a large and tall gate at the entrance that can be locked.
We had a great time on the farm. The road to the farm is not very good and I would not recommend it if you drive a regular sedan.
We'd love to visit Hartfell Farm again. The house is spacious, the area and dams beautiful. The dam does need trout, however. We could also suggest they add a new braai drum.
The house we stayed in, Hamill's Lodge, was beautiful and serene, with great views and far enough away from any roads as to be virtually isolated. The power was sadly cut as a storm passed through the area, but at least there were gas stoves and wood plenty enough for a fire to keep us warm and to braai. The walkways around the farm were beautiful and fun, just slightly unclear sometimes. Would definitely recommend this location to those who wish to truly escape city life.
We had a great weekend, would definitely recommend the place.
Should you wish to get away from it all, Hartfell farm is the perfect choice. It is close enough to Dullstroom but tucked away from the normal beaten route. Searles cottage has a lovely fireplace for the cold evenings. The unit and bedrooms are neatly appointed. The protected sunny veranda is a bonus. Definitely child and pet friendly.
Lovely and peaceful visit. Fish is rare. Please stock the dams.
The environment is very beautiful. The hiking trail was breathtaking. The house was comfortable. The bathrooms were not very clean. The general condition was below average. The furniture is shabby, old and not properly maintained. The road to the farm is in incredibly poor condition. I had to replace a tire after the weekend due to the dirt road condition. I will not go there again and do not recommend it.
Beautiful and peaceful. Will recommend it to anyone.
Area and dams beautiful, but the house is neglected and dirty. The shower has spider webs and mud from all the dust that accumulated there. The bathroom door is a sliding door but it falls off its hinges. A few times it almost fell on the children. The cupboards and drawers in which the cutlery is stored are all dirty. There is no vegetable or steak knife, and appliances like the whisk and toaster were broken. We asked the lady who came to wash the dishes to clean the bathroom, but she just ignored us. The braai facility was dilapidated and fell apart while we were having a braai.
The quietest, most peaceful and tranquil weekend we have had in a very long while. Fishing was disappointing though with no sight of trout in any of the three dams we visited.
Wonderful natural area. House very well equipped!
Friendly hosts. They go out of their way to help. But, please upgrade your braai!
We really had a great time, very quiet and peaceful. Only problem was that we took our dogs with us and they were able to get through the enclosed yard twice. There were also other dogs on the property that did not live in a confined chalet and walked around without leashes. They came to investigate with us and it was a bit of a problem. Other than that it was very nice.
It is so peaceful, green gardens, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed it very much. We caught fish and really enjoyed the long weekend.
This farm has amazing potential, if the owner stock the dams properly! I would like to visit Hartfell again, I do believe that the price was a bit steep.
The farm is beautiful, sorry we couldn't say the same about the cottages. The house we stayed in was incredibly dirty and vandalized.
