The simplicity of the house's design and style immediately attracts you and enchants the location of the beautiful scenery. The footpath to the house is charming, as well as the view of the river and mountain with the sounds of birdsong. Even heard and saw an osprey.
This cleverly designed and beautifully situated cottage has spectacular views over the Gonubie River, surrounded by natural forest which makes it a nature-lover's paradise. Small thoughtful touches everywhere, plus a forest deck that is just magical. Host Karen was warm and welcoming, and while the farm is not fully operational at present, she took the time to show me around and explain the integrated homesteading. It was a wonderful stay - nightjars calling all night an added bonus!

Our family enjoyed our stay at Heartwood Homestead, and learned a lot about life off-grid. Our hosts opened their home to us, and were helpful. Our busy girls, always had something to do. We are sold on the compost toilet.
We really enjoyed it at Heartwood Homestead and would love to come and relax here again. The view over the valley is breathtaking and creates the atmosphere for rest and relaxation with a book or a board game.
After emerging from the pathway carved through the bush that leads to the cottage, this wide beautiful valley opens up before you. All you want to do is sit on the little deck and stare out into the distance. So quiet, so still. really relaxing. The sleeper couch may not be suitable for an adult, it's a little stiff and narrow but should be fine for a child. Perfect for a one or two night stay. Wonderful hosts. Freshly squeezed farm milk in the fridge!
We loved being away on the farm, the cottage was very well kitted out and comfortable with fantastic views. Roger and Karen were most welcoming hosts, making the stay extra special.
Always lovely to stay in such a quiet idyllic setting.
If you love nature and/or would like to enjoy a farm environment, or if you are just looking for some peace and quiet, this is the ideal accommodation with all the facilities neatly and carefully offered. It is a place where you can really rest, experience peace and friendliness and they even offer you farm products and even brings it to you. We thoroughly enjoyed our accommodation and the area that offers enough for every person's liking and will recommend it anytime!
