44 guests' feedbackFrom the moment you start driving through the pass, it's just amazing. It feels like another world. The farm is beautiful and the house feels like going back in time. You feel different there, you feel blessed! It's just so peaceful there. Our Labrador was with us and it was great for her to discover the new area. We drove there with heavy hearts.
Wow. What a find! An exquisite location in the mountains, magnificent views (even from the shower), space, silence, and peace. It feels safe and has good energy. Heidedal has large grounds, accessible walks, and a stream at the bottom of the garden. The house is huge with high ceilings and a thatched roof. Extremely comfortable with absolutely everything you'd need. WiFi is such a bonus. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything from a colander to a cheese grater, a can opener, wine and shot glasses, etc. The fireplace inside works a dream on these winter evenings. The bedrooms also have fabulous views. Good towels and lovely clean, crisp white linen. My dog was welcomed, thank you. He'll need a week to recover after all the running around - I am so happy for that. Rates are extremely reasonable, and I'll certainly be back!
Very well equipped kitchen, with pots and pans in very good condition. It's quite rare and much appreciated. We could see that the house must have a lot of history. It would be nice if there was something to read about the farm's past. Also a list of activities in and around the farm?
Our experience at Heidedal Selfsorg Gastehuis was fantastic, from seamless booking, great communication with Jonda (appreciated pics with directions), to clean, comfortable and beautiful accommodation with good Wi-Fi. It all has met or even exceeded our expectations. We can highly recommend the place.
We really enjoyed the stay and everything was clean and tidy inside the house. Thank you very much for things like a dishwasher with "pods", enough kitchen items and crockery, and very comfortable mattresses. There are indeed many ticks and people with pets should take precautions.
If you want to spend time in nature and escape your daily routine, this is the place to find inner quietness, peace and the flow of energy to recover.
The silence was wonderful. The residence offers everything you need to make yourself comfortable. The view from the pass is incredible. Was a wonderful experience with our children and their partners.
What a peaceful week it was. The silence is probably everyone's top of the list. The house is really very comfortable and equipped with everything and more that one could ask for. My Poodles were in heaven. Lukas and his wife are so helpful and friendly. Definitely a hidden gem. Thank you for allowing me to use your place to recharge my batteries.
First time experiencing the Heidedal self-catering Guest House and it was incredible, clean and tidy accommodation. Comfortably furnished for self-catering accommodation. The surroundings are beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Just the right place if you want to get away from the daily hustle and bustle. Will go back again anytime.
Very comfortable, large house with all the necessities we could ask for. There are some things in and around the house that need some attention and maintenance. Travelers should be advised of the bad dirt road to the house.
Had a hospitable reception. Clean and tidy accommodation. Comfortably furnished for self-catering accommodation. The surroundings are beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Just the right place if you want to get away from the daily hustle and bustle.
Very friendly people, and beautiful scenery.
We had a wonderful stay, the house is well equipped and our dogs had an absolute ball.
We spent a wonderful weekend here. The large porch was the ideal place to hang out from where the children could be watched. The house is luxurious without being pretentious. Everything was available. The ice machine was a hit! Jonda's communication was very effective and she is a great hostess!
The house is nice and spacious. Each room has their own bathroom which is very convenient. The kitchen is nicely equipped with everything you need. The stoep makes us definitely recommend it. Nice hiking trails around.
Uit die boonste rakke.
Everyone spoke highly of the accommodation. The main house is very spacious with a huge patio where we spent most of the weekend. The living room has a lovely fireplace for the colder evenings. The kitchen was fully equipped and the dishwasher and ice machine were very welcome. All the rooms (including those at the Stables) have comfortable mattresses and good quality bedding. The Stables are a bit more rustic, but still well equipped and close enough that you could just walk down to the Main House. A big plus for a large group is that there are more than enough bathrooms (4 in the main house and 2 at the Stables) and that the house was spacious enough that nobody fell over each other. Jonda was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful surroundings and outstanding views. We can't wait to return! And a visit to Ginsmith about 3.5 km from Heidedal for a craft gin tasting is a must! Colleen and Lesley are passionate about their craft and have the most delicious gin and the most beautiful view.
That porch, indoor fireplace, barbecue on the porch, large kitchen, lovely rooms and bedding, neat bathrooms, the view! Wonderful!
The location is great and the house is surrounded by large green lawns with a beautiful view of the mountains. Lovely cozy fireplace in the living room and nice big porch with braai. Jonda is very friendly and helpful and responds quickly to questions. It can be very nice to visit the place in summer, because there are many places to walk as well as small water stream with rock pools in which children will be able to have fun.
It was a wonderful weekend, with an absolutely fantastic hostess. Well-equipped accommodation. Beautiful and peaceful area.
We believe a security screen is required before an incident.
Accommodation was very neat, comfortable and well furnished. Environment is very beautiful.
Very well equipped kitchen. Spacious rooms with a lovely large veranda. Neat lawn and small stream for the children. Only 3 bedrooms in the house. 2 in annex. Needs some renovation.
The only thing that was not to our liking was the gravel roads. Furthermore its a fantastic place for a family with young children. It is peaceful and beautiful with the surrounding mountains. The hosts are of the best there can be.
Big house with the most beautiful view on nature.
Heidedal is an amazing getaway. We spent a weekend in Die Stalle (The Stables) which was so comfortable for our two kids and us. The kids had their own large bedroom with bathroom, the kitchen was fully equipped. The view from Die Stalle is over the garden, river and fields. The kids took their bicycles and loved being able to go exploring. Jonda is incredibly hospitable - my kids fell in love with her four Huskies. She took us on a walk and showed us the area, telling us about the plants and animals. Jonda also told us about the local gin distillery, Gin Smith Gin, which was such a wonderful surprise and experience. I'm sure we will return to Heidedal. It's a true break away in nature.
The place is just breathtaking for anyone who loves the outdoors. The owners are so friendly and helpful and their dogs are the sweetest ever, even went hiking with us and the owners showed us where to go for some nice hikes and where to see some wildlife. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking to get away from the city and to just relax and enjoy nature. Hands down best service from the friendliest people you will ever meet and the most breathtaking place you will ever go. Will definitely be going back really soon. Loved every moment of being there, was sad to leave. Just want to say thank you to the owners Jonda and Dirk for letting us stay at their beautiful place and for being so kind and helpful. You will be seeing us again soon.
Simple but comfortable with everything that one needs. We loved the casual atmosphere and the quietness of nature. If anything, maybe the outside couches could do with new stuffing, and the oven temperature regulator fixed.
Heidedal met all our requirements. Clean, great location, great beds, everyone had space to do what they wanted. Very well equipped and the fireplace attracted us all. The nice and spacious patio is definitely a winner. At Heidedal, no effort is spared to ensure that everything is right and that everyone's requirements are met! Thank you Jonda for all your effort. You are a hostess thousand!
Fully equipped house with all you need, wonderful hosts!
We will be back,. The bedding and linen wonderful quality, electric blankets on the colder rooms, wonderful fireplaces and large patio with outdoor braai, fantastic tables for boardgaming delights. Very well equipped kitchen and the gardens and surrounds beautiful and green. We loved the early morning sunrises and sunsets, and sitting under the trees. We will definitely be back.
It was one of our best weekends in nature. The hostess welcomed us and we immediately felt at ease. The environment is beautiful and we could learn a lot from the host/hostess about the environment. We could also relax and rest in privacy. It was comfortable and definitely worth it!
We were a group of 17 people. It was a great getaway and I would recommend it to anyone! The owner is very "on the ball" and we really have no complaints! The house is very well equipped and has everything you need. Dishwasher and more!
The cottage (Stalle) is well equipped with everything you need. Jonda put so much effort into beautiful flowers in the unit and she even put the heater on for us so the place was warm when we got there. The area is safe and beautiful. We took our puppy with us and even he was welcomed with open arms. Will definitely visit Heidedal again. Thank you for your hospitality.
We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms had nice, clean, white linen and most rooms had an electric blanket. The fireplace was already going when we arrived and the wood provided was nice big logs. The kitchen is well equipped and the stoep was the most delightful place to hang out. The only negative part was the road to get there. Part of it is dirt road, but our Honda Civic made it so not too bad. The view and silence are worth it.
The house is located in a beautiful spot, spectacular scenery and perfect for a relaxing break. The house is spacious with a wonderful (long) back veranda, perfect for lazing about and taking in the scenery. Just a pity the dishwasher decided to call it quits whilst we were there! The farm managers were wonderful hosts and tried their best to assist with fixing this - a bit of an inconvenience though, the house was booked and paid for on the basis that there was a dishwasher. Great location though.
Spacious and beautiful house with a nice patio. Everything you need for a long holiday.
If it wasn't for the little dog I took with me, I felt very unsafe. Locks on exterior doors are fitted on the outside of the door. With windows that don't close properly one would at least expect burglar bars in front of windows.
We visited Heidedal as a family the few days around Christmas. It was delicious and we had so much fun. Everything is there that is needed and more. It was so peaceful and we all relaxed and caught our breath. Would definitely recommend it.
Heidedal is a beautiful farm in the mountains above Porterville, even deeper into the mountain than the famous Beaverlac. Accommodation is in a beautiful large old farmhouse with plenty of sleeping space! The house is well equipped - lovely big kitchen for cooking together and hanging out. The fireplace in the living room was put to good use during a frosty weekend. You can buy wood for R30 a bag which is delivered right in front of the fireplace. Decor rustic, but everything was sparkling clean and the beds and linen a pleasure. Big old farm porch where you can appreciate the beautiful nature - and nice places for walks if you are a little more energetic than sitting on the porch and watching birds!
Very easy to find and very neat.
Heidedal is a lovely, well-equipped place, lovely, comfortable house and excellent service.
Thank you very much for the hospitality. We had a wonderful stay and relaxed so much.
What an incredible weekend away. Heidedal is beautiful and has all the facilities you would want on a weekend away. Lucas the caretaker was always available to help. Each room has its own bathroom in the farmhouse so everyone was wonderfully private. The linen is beautiful and the kitchen large and cozy. Of course the porch makes the weekend. Feel free to play golf or tennis in Porterville if you are there. All my friends enjoyed the weekend so much. Would definitely recommend and come back again. Thanks Miranda!
