It was a good stay, safe location and close to all the amenities. The only downside was that the WiFi wasn't working, but they explained that they had a new service provider and were working on fixing the range. They even offered to change rooms so we could be closer to where our devices could pick up the signal. The other situation was cleaning because we were present; however, upon calling the reception, the matter was resolved immediately and the room was cleaned. I thank the management for going the extra mile with everything from the first day all the way to the last. It's a beautiful, clean space that is well kept and quiet. I would highly recommend and would book again in a heartbeat.

I slept in room 2 and I think the room needs some upgrading. The curtains have been washed out so much that I think people will be able to see silhouettes from outside. There was an outside air on that shines into the room (due to the thin curtains), which is quite disturbing. I woke up at 3 in the morning thinking it was daylight, so lit was the room. I think the room needs a good cleaning!
There was no wifi for the whole time that i was there. Unexceptable in this time. The bathroom door did not close properly which is a no. no if you travel with friends.

Room was damn hot. Luckily there was a ceiling fan. WiFi practically didn't work and the TV's picture was such that you couldn't watch anything.
There was no air conditioner and the room was really hot. The roof fan is ridulous. When requested a fan was given the most ridiculous little fan. I ended up purchasing a fan. The water in the shower if trying to adjust the temperature would switch off.
The Lodge has quite a few options available for overnight stays and the 2 double beds are the best option if you are traveling with children. The bathroom part of the room is a bit neat, but has everything needed for an overnight stay. The double bed on the left side of the room is a bit used up, but for children it is still OK. Coffee and tea were available, the Ricoffee was not our favorite and the small milks were just too small to make a hot drink for everyone.

Headboard is loose and rattles against the wall when touched. I would have appreciated it if I had known in advance about the fridge and microwave. Cutlery was nice, 2 bowls, and 1 tablespoon, 1 plate, 2 knives and forks and no teaspoons, 2 cups and saucers. Fridge's on/off and rumble disturbing. Space a little neat but clean and comfortable. Just a few things they are going to have to pay more attention to because of the price. 1. Nescafe coffee bags in room and not Ricoffy, please. We pay a hefty amount for a night's sleep so I feel they could spend money on decent coffee in the rooms. 2. Boilers not working at all, I suggest going through each room and making sure the boilers are working. 3. Bath mats are terribly dirty (maybe buy new ones). 4. The wifi didn't work and wouldn't even show up on our phones. Apart from that the help and lady were friendly.
The stay was brief and seems like the whole town had water problems and not the fault of the lodge but never the less a challenge to not be able to shower or get a cup of coffee when needed.
We basically just slept over for the night. We arrived at 21:00 and received our keys and gate remote at 10:45 in the morning. Ladies received us kindly in the morning and showed us our rooms, 1st impression rooms were clean and tidy and ready for us. Came in late in the evening and had no problems getting into the premises. Lights nicely illuminated on porch and rooms for the late evening. Basically coffee, sugar and tea in room were available, cups were clean.
This is a very neat place, but the area is not what one is looking for anymore. It's right in the middle of town, so to speak. The people who were there that evening to book us in also left a lot to be desired. Especially the male person who was on his phone the whole time.
I often stay in guesthouses for business and Heidelberg Lodge is the place I will never stay again. First, I had trouble getting into the gate. After 5 minutes of waiting and the bell ringing, the owner sends a message to say they will open, the lady on duty is booking someone in. Gate opened and when I got to reception, what an unfriendly lady it was. Say hello and give me a form to fill out. Then she told me to drive around and go into the other street's entrance. Show me the room and give me the key. Turn on the TV and walk without a word. No information available about what happens during loadshedding and the times. Nothing. At first I struggle to locate the light switch behind the curtains. The room is much smaller than the photo, but you can still live with it. The bedside lamp is completely lame. The scout cord lies on top of the bedside table. When you push the lamp, little "sparks" go off. If the lamp is pushed in, you cannot push the charger in because then it won't work. The bathroom's one side of the ceiling looks like it's full of mold spots. Maybe paint the place and fix it up and make small adjustments here and there to the hospitality and the room will be worth R700 per night. Sorry Heidelberg Lodge, but I am bitterly disappointed.
Place was not booked, person on duty is not very professional, too expensive for what you get and the WiFi signal is very weak and could not use.

Heidelberg Lodge was our overnight accommodation for a wedding we attended outside of Heidelberg. The family room is neat and beautiful and offers everything you need for a night's sleep. It has a spacious room with two double beds, a wardrobe to store your clothes in, a long mirror and mirror cabinet for doing hair and make-up, as well as coffee-making facilities and a small fridge. It has a small and basic toilet and shower. Good value for money and would go there again and can recommend Heidelberg Lodge. Only complaint is that the water pipes make a noise when the unit next door closes the shower, which unfortunately happened in the early hours of the morning.
An easy destination to reach from the N3.

Small room. It was neat, but the fan didn't help much, and we had to request an extra one, which was dirty. At 05:45 I had to get up because the cleaners in the washroom next to our room were chatting loudly, and I had to ask them to speak more softly. Someone also tried to open our room door, just after 6, luckily the latch was on. We suspect it may have been a worker, but we were not at all comfortable with that. I would recommend the place for one night's stay.
The rooms are in need of a makeover and some attention. We were in one room and then we asked to be moved to a room with air conditioning which they helped us with, the new room smelled terribly musty and we were then moved again. Our 3rd room was more adequate, but the bed was terribly uncomfortable and needs a new mattress.
Bed light not working, 3 guests and only 2 of als, no bedding or pillows for mattress, towels only 2 (which were rock hard), no ice, room door couldn't unlock, really one of the worst I've ever visited and I often stay in guest houses. Room opposite wanted help with ice, didn't have any in her fridge either, her bedside lights didn't work either. Really very weak!
Room facing main road with lots of traffic noise. Bathroom no window and very stuffy because fan was broken. Room's fan noise so could not start.
The faucet in the bathroom was completely loose, some of the plaster between the tiles was out and so were the tiles. Not at all what we are used to for the website's standard.
The rooms were equipped with everything needed and more. The garden is beautiful, and we had a nice swim. Comfortable visit and wish we could have stayed longer.

The only gripe I had was that the lotions and soaps were not replaced with new ones on the second day. Other than that, it was a good experience.
On 25 Nov 2021 around 18:00 we checked in at the guest house. I made the reservation for an en suite double room separate from the guest house. When we checked in we were told that we had to stay in the house as the unit we booked was booked for Eskom. I called Marna and told her that we had expressly booked the unit separately from the guest house. She said that it was not available. It was a matter of "take it or leave it". No excuses, no effort, nothing. It was late, raining hard and we had to stay inside the house. The TV sits above the door and you literally have to look high up in the sky to see the screen. Very impractical. The tiles of the shower floor were loose and slippery and one had to stand carefully while showering to avoid stepping on the broken tiles. Although everything was neat I was extremely disappointed that we did not get what we booked and paid for.
We were a bit lost on arrival, reception is hidden deep in the back. We were unsure if breakfast was served as part of the accommodation cost.
Room's roof lights were not working since I arrived at the guest house on Saturday afternoon and it was never fixed. And Saturday night's dinner was not up to standard and asking R180 for dinner. But the bed slept well. The breakfast on Monday was just okay.

The room we had that was in the main house is already very old (that's the style), but the beds are new and firm. Bring your own soap and shampoo. There is a microwave and fridge but no cutlery in the rooms, you may ask for the caretaker, or bring your own. It is quiet though central to town and easy to get to. There was WiFi and an air conditioner.
Know that everyone is under financial pressure, but a few DStv sports channels, e.g. 211 and 212 would be nice. No pressure will also use you without it, this was our second visit to you and is and will always be our first choice.
What I would like is if you'll could proved sanitary stuff like soap, toothpaste, scrubber for bathing. Other than that, the place is lovely

Clean and tidy with everything you need for a night's sleep. Just a lot of disturbance during the night with the big street passing in front of the house and cars/motorcycles speeding by. I am a coffee pot and did not use the Ricoffy and Cremora in the room. I usually take my own coffee and milk with me to guesthouses. Previous comments mentioned, no cutlery or soap. There were plates and cutlery in the room as well as soap and sanitizer.

The room was very basic and I was annoyed that our bed lamps were not connected to electricity. The bed lamps were provided, but I had to use my own plug to connect the one bed lamp. This is so basic - surely you could have taken care of that?

We just slept there. Nice bed, comfortable clean room, but the service is extremely poor, had to stand and check-in front of the gate on arrival and then the woman told us to drive to another gate ─ how would we know? The breakfast was simple and cold, no cereals and no fruit and juices made. We just had to put the previous people's plates aside and didn't even come to take it away.

Everything had been great. Only two things: it would have been nice if the owner or a manager could have welcomed us. All communication goes through the cleaners. The other thing is that there was only one spare blanket in the closet and none over the bed. We come from the Bosveld which is a warm world and it is quite cold during the night in Heidelberg. Other than that it was a pleasant experience.

I have a mentally disabled son. We enjoy everything together. That's why I prefer a room with 2 single beds. He is quiet and very much to himself. Thank you very much for your help always, because it means a lot to me.
Beautiful B&B with clean and comfortable rooms. Manager was not present during our stay and the staff left in charge did not seem to know what to do half the time. Perhaps they need better training. But overall it was a pleasant stay and I would stay there again.

The ad says there is air conditioning (which makes you think there is an aircon), but our room had a ceiling fan that was so low we were afraid our heads would get caught in it. The bathroom had no shampoo or soap in the shower. There were 2 bags of coffee and 2 bags of sugar in the room. It was neat and clean and the bed slept well thank you.
Heidelberg is just very cold in winter, but the hostess already put our room's heater on and there is also access to extra blankets. The room is clean and tidy with all the necessary things for an overnight or two. Hostess is very friendly and welcoming. There is parking right in front of the room. Bathroom is clean and the water gets hot quickly (in winter). Thank you very much.

Our DStv didn't work. The staff were making a noise in the corridor early in the morning. They woke everyone up. Bedding was nice and clean and neat.
We were impressed with the main house itself, very nice wooden floors and in certain rooms the printed steel ceilings are still in place. The bathrooms were a little shortcoming. We initially booked a room outside the house (a family room that unfortunately did not have a good bathroom), but could happily move to the main house, which was much more luxurious. The guest house was very willing to accommodate our change, which we appreciated. With a refurbishment in the bathrooms (even just new tiles), the guest house can be excellent.

The purpose of the stay was just to spend the night. The room, bathroom etc. were comfortable and fit for purpose. The reception by the supervisor was poor, and she was more concerned about the outstanding amount than welcoming us. Communication was also very poor. I could not pay by credit card and had to withdraw cash. The supervisor also did not consider the guests in the main building the next morning and spoke/shouted loudly. This is not acceptable. The Lodge is very comfortable, but the owner will have to pay attention to his staff.
