Slept safely in clean and tidy unit. Their light meals are recommended and we didn't need to eat anywhere else.
This is our second visit to Hendersons Lodge. It will also always be my pit stop in the future.
Safety is important because there are many people moving around. The restaurant closes early, but they still deliver food to the room before they close. Handy gate arrangements with an open bell system.
It's our second time there. Didn't even look at another place. Service is excellent. Really enjoyed the food. The maintenance must be stepped up. The shower head needs to be cleaned or replaced in room 1. The one window hangs crooked.
It was good for 1 night's overnight stay.
The accommodation was sufficient for one night's sleepover. I would recommend that new bedding be considered as the bedding was no longer a nice white and had been washed out. The room was otherwise clean and tidy.
Even when we arrived, in the middle of "loadshedding", everything was still ok. Definitely value for money.

The location where it is situated is a BIG NO. The streets have pot holes. And it was like a 100km away from where we wanted to be, so we had to travel every morning and also back at night time.

Having decided to go from Durban to the Cape via the Free State we chanced upon Henderson's which fit our timeframe perfectly. Knowing that there was a microwave in the room we took our own food. There was a heated under blanket and hot water so nothing to complain about.

We arrived there late in the evening. They were waiting for us and the keys were handy. We went to the rooms which were very clean and tidy. The mattresses were the best, everyone slept very well, just a shame we had to drive early again.
Maybe it's just the aftermath after Covid, but there was an atmosphere of "going through the motions". I myself am a guest house owner in the Cape, which is an extremely competitive environment. Senekal itself has quite a few guest houses and the management here will have to pull up their socks if they want to increase occupancy figures.
It was ideal for what we needed and would stay again if I was to visit Senekal.

The bathrooms need a thorough cleaning, they need to get in the shower and see how the glass doors look. The mold on the tiles can be seen when stepping on it.

Bathroom faucets not working. Shower switching didn't work at all. No plug in bathroom. The general cleanliness around the guesthouse was poor. In short, I would not recommend it at all.
Beautiful comfortable immaculate rooms for good value, and friendly service, close to restaurants and close to major roads. If we ever go that way again we will definitely use them again. The information packs also gave us a little bit of insight into Senekal and we stopped off at the "places to see" before we left.
The parking was a bit difficult and personally I think if all the rooms are occupied, it might create problems. Unfortunately, I am not an admirer of dogs and the big dog did not appeal to me. It's really just a problem on my end. Some of the other guests chatted loudly on the porch late at night and it was quite disturbing. Otherwise we slept well in a spacious room.
We were there for a funeral and they accommodated us to leave our luggage there until after the funeral. It was nice and neat.
