We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful period restored house. The staff were lovely and friendly. I would recommend that if you have the time, you should partake in the breakfast and dinner - real value for money.

The room was comfortable. Unfortunately there was no milk or rooibos tea in the room, but I assume it was possible in the kitchen. The double bed in our room was a steel frame and could potentially be disturbing for fellow light sleepers. The WiFi password didn't want to work, but I discovered it already after 23:00.

Herambi Guest House is a beautiful old building with a wide verandah perfect for sitting in the sun at a table or reading a book. Beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very clean. The welcome was excellent and our host provided details on where to eat and how to get there. We felt very safe and would definitely stay there on our return.

We arrived at 19:30 in darkness - general power problem in town. 20:00 - 22:00 was load shedding. Apart from one dim lamp, no provision was made. After power arrives, the roof light cannot be turned off. Guest house across the street has generator. Kitchen does not have kettle for gas stove to make coffee. For the price paid for 4 people, the owner can invest in a generator or inverter.
We were looking for overnight accommodation at short notice and it met all our expectations.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay.
I was warmly received and welcomed by Annelie on a Sunday afternoon. My room reservation was changed by Herambi, but it was for a more comfortable room that was not available with my reservation. The room has everything you need for a comfortable night's stay. There are nice little tables on the porch where I could enjoy my dinner and coffee. Annelie was able to provide valuable information about the area and places where dinner was available on a Sunday in Laingsburg.

I booked Herambi only a few hours before I arrived. They do not have on their advertisement that there is a 100 km dirt road from the south to get to them. I drive a sedan and it was getting dark, and there was no way to hit the road. Despite the above, they were dishonest when I asked if they might be willing to refund part of the fee. Herambi, you can really only be honest if you don't want to help out, that's OK.
Please visit the room (no. 1) and experience for yourself.

The above sums it up - the toilet kept running, someone did come to work on it, but it started running again at 4am. The faucet to turn off the water flow to the toilet bowl also did not work.
Few people would think of spending the night at Laingsburg. It was also easy to find the place to stay. The room is big enough and the air conditioning is a lifesaver for the December heat. It was also very interesting for me to see how they converted the room to provide for an en suite bathroom. They also serve meals if you book in advance which I would recommend you do. The house also has articles on the wall about the Laingsburg Disaster. I had a great time staying here and will come back one day and stay here. I never felt unsafe while staying there.

The reception was friendly and professional and the house and room were spotless and comfortable. The linen and towels were crisp and spotless. Although furnished with antique furniture, the room appeared fresh which is not always the case with this type of old fashioned accommodation. Dinner was delicious - at least there is nothing better to eat than Karoo lamb chops in the Karoo! We were very impressed with the accommodation and will use Herambi again. However, I will make sure I don't get room 3 again as a whole bunch of air conditioning compressors are installed outside this room. Unfortunately, there was also an inconsiderate and selfish guest left who left his air conditioner on all night and as a result I was woken up numerous times during the night when the compressor turned on.

We were already there in the early afternoon and rested in the cool room before we read again the sad history of the flood on the newspaper clippings in the corridor. Afterwards we explored the village on foot and took pictures of the old houses, the church and the post office. You are always rushing to your destination, but have decided to explore as much as possible the towns where you spend the night. This is how you get to know and appreciate and understand our wonderful country's regions and towns and the unique life of the inhabitants better.

Check in was easy and efficient. The house is lovely and nicely decorated but the big drawback for us was the quality/cleanliness of the bed linen. The white sheets and quilt were grubby, threadbare and stained. One of the pillows on our bed was so grubby we couldn't use it. When I reported this to the only staff member on duty the next morning, she was pretty disinterested.
I have stayed at Herambi multiple times, and each time is a joy. The room is clean and you have everything you need. The staff is always super helpful and friendly. I also find that Herambi is one of the more reasonably priced places to stay and it is definitely value for money! While it is affordable, they do not skimp on giving you a lovely stay. We were looking for accommodation for one night where our car and trailer would be safe. Herambi is a beautiful old historic house with a porch right around the house - the type of house I desire. We were generously received and helped with unhooking and parking our trailer. The furniture in the house is old, but well maintained. The room is a bit small for all the furniture in there. Some articles can be removed without affecting the comfort of the stay. The bed is very nice, but I would recommend a thicker mattress. One looks for a good mattress after so many kilometers of travel. The location of the house is great because it is slightly away from the main street with all the trucks that pass through it all night.
The bedroom is comfortable and clean, with everything you need for a quick overnight stay on the road. The warm blanket on the bed was very welcome, it was damn cold. The manager, Jacob, welcomed us so nicely and made us feel at home. Good accommodation if you are on your way to the Cape or vice versa.
As per my previous experience very pleasant house and room with friendly reception. Even though I didn't experience any problems, I do feel that the parking is somewhat unsafe and I wasn't sure if maybe I rather had to unload the car completely? Also missed a rusk or two, something I often find in other guesthouses upon arrival. This is handy for guests that need to leave early and don't have time for breakfast.

We were received very kindly and the service was very good. It is a beautiful guest house and immediately felt welcome. The night guard made us feel extra safe and even helped us open gates to make it easier for us when we left the next morning. The only negative comment I can make is that we didn't get the specific bedroom we booked. As we were two girlfriends staying over, we booked the bedroom with room for 3 people, but were booked into a room with a double bed which caused us to have to share a bed.
The guest house was beautifully laid out, a clever addition of a bathroom in the large room. Secure parking was a bonus. A very comfortable stay.

Thanks to Jakob who welcomed me very kindly and helped me unload. At least he could spot me after my journey of over 800 km and not talk off the top of my head about 'the woman and her dog'. I was also very grateful for the TV in the room. Herambi Guest House invites you to enjoy a nice glass of wine on their veranda, so I was disappointed to find only 2 thick glasses of water in my room.
Comfortable enough for one night. The room is spacious and clean and has everything you need for 1 night. The town had no water when we landed, and the host didn't bother with alternatives to make coffee or brush teeth. Luckily we brought water with us otherwise we would have gone to bed dirty and dry mouthed. Luckily it was back on when we woke up the next morning and we were able to do what was necessary.

We had a nice walk through Laingsburg looking for a place to have dinner and then just enjoyed a nice dinner at the Royal Hotel. The guest house is also located in a quiet area. I can recommend Herambi Guest House.

The house and room are very tastefully furnished and very neat and clean. The shower 'step' just needs attention as it is broken and you can cut your foot or toe badly against the metal. The one bedside light didn't work either. Mrs. Jeanette August and Jakob were particularly friendly and the breakfast was very tasty and well served ─ thank you very much! I would suggest that LekkeSlaap negotiates for lower prices for single travelers or type of rooms that are available especially for single travelers at a lower rate ─ not necessarily with a single bed as many single people prefer a double bed. The fact that single people pay double the fare is somewhat discriminatory as single people like me who am a widow are obliged to use sleepover facilities on a long journey between Paris and Cape Town or any other destination. Herambi Guest House offers 5 uniquely decorated en-suite bedrooms. All equipped with TVs with DStv, towels, fridges, microwaves and coffee-making facilities. The rooms are non-smoking and cots are available on request.
