35 guests' feedbackThe weekend was breathtaking. It was something out of a book. The unit was tidy and the sea, which is probably only a 10 minute walk from the unit, was perfect.

Stay was very nice & relaxing,. the unit was neat and clean. we liked the quiteness. we would definetly come again.
The stay was okay but we had to wash all the crockery and cutlery as it still had residue on it (egg stains etc). There were also spiders (daddy long legs) in the room which means it was cleaned. There is no eating area inside and it rained while we were there which really made it difficult for the kids to eat sitting on the sofa. Also no wifi. The bathroom has a washing machine which makes the area a little awkward to wash kids. Kids double bunk has the safety rail on the wrong side therefore not appropriate/safe for younger kids.
Would like a place near to the pool or beach.
We would like to return with friends and family as there is lots to do. The township next door is bigger than expected, but once you are inside the beach club it doesn't affect you. The apartment could do with some upgrades. Customer service was great.
Torn sheets, stained pillow, top mattress was flipped so bed was uncomfortable, musty smell in bedroom cupboard and dirty clothes or fabric on the floor of the cupboard. Windows in lounge did not close properly, rainwater came in, and it was extra cold. Icy, windy draft in the lounge. Water leaked by the shower screen so the floor got wet. No mop. Wet floor. Was reported and owner asked if I had a towel or something to put down? Owner received a message about power outage, did not communicate this. Was told when I called to find out what was going on because no loadshedding was scheduled. She then told me to ask security, gave me the number to call and no one answered. This should have firstly been communicated to us when she received the message and I just feel that she should have got more information and communicated that to us. It shouldnt have had to be my responsibility. Very disappointed. Poor value for money. Should maintain the unit better and clean better and replace the furniture at least. Doesn't have to be expensive, just comfortable, clean and decent.
1. Blankets were smelly and dirty and appeared to be unwashed as some had food stains on which came off when rubbing it together. 2. Rusted pots were found in cupboards which I wanted to use. I tried cleaning it a bit, but more rust came off, this is such a big health risk to begin with but absolutely appalling. Other dirty crockery was found including the grater. 3. The basting brush with old sticky grime was revolting. 4. There was also a broken dustpan making minor cleaning so inconvenient. 5. Layer of dust on shower handle. Really don't know when last the place was spring cleaned. 6. Unpaid DSTV account with no visual entertainment for kids. Upsetting!
Many issues experienced with our stay.
It was a great two days, had kids from 7 to 15 and two adults. I love the Hermanus town that's only 4 mins drive away. I never knew that the informal settlement was literally over the wall, but the compound is definitely safe enough and everyone will be back in future.

One could walk wonderfully along the sea and in the place. It is definitely safe especially for older people like us.
It is a beautiful place. The children were a bit cross, because there is no Wi-Fi, and only limited DStv channels, but otherwise it was ok.
What I could advise is that a booklet be made where all the attractions, restaurants, transport etc. are shown. That can be very useful. Otherwise everything about the place was okay, we really enjoyed our stay.
Squatter camp nearby is a problem.
The website for this unit states that it is "only 3km from central Hermanus". That may be true, but there is no mention that one needs to drive through an industrial area, and that the complex is right next to the Esihle informal settlement. This unit is situated right next to the boundary wall of the complex and is no more than 20 - 25 meters away from the informal settlement, which is in full view from the unit. I must add that my family and I did not feel unsafe during our stay, or while driving past the informal settlement houses to get to the complex. But it is a terribly unpleasant surprise when one has driven across the country to get to one's holiday accommodation and then to experience this without it being made known upfront. There is also no mention of this in any of the reviews, which I find very strange and which makes me wonder whether all reviews are indeed listed. The unit itself can also certainly do with an upgrade and for this price point I believe the owner can do a bit of work on the place. The furniture is old and outdated and even the kitchen utensils seem to be left overs from somewhere else.
Would definitely recommend Hermanus beach club.
Really enjoyed the place. Was neat and very quiet. Friendly people around you and service was great. Will very definitely go back again.
We were very happy with our stay. The flat was comfortable and neat. Felt like a home away from home.
We enjoyed the stay very much. Everything was very neat, and the unit is well equipped.
Oven outside was dirty. Windows were terribly dirty. Bathroom cabinet is loose. Bathroom space very small especially if you want to get into the bath. White lounge chairs very deep. Brown chairs' cushions unpleasant. Iron chairs outside no cushions. WiFi would be appreciated as we had very little signal. DStv package can improve a bit. Wipes were terribly unpleasant, I always travel with my own. There was no extra food cupboard to unpack my food. But besides everything we enjoyed it terribly, we don't fixate on all the problems. We are very comfortable people.
Again just didn't want to play together but games arcade helped to keep kids busy. Accommodation clean and tidy. Only problem is that there is no storage space for clothes, only hanging space.

The new structural development right on the doorstep of the beach club was a shock and site for sore eyes. We had no disruptions it was just strange as we haven't been to facility before. Otherwise the beach club is a nice holiday away.

The area to get to the venue was quite a shock at first glance but the venue is very secure and the nearby shopping center. Had very friendly and efficient staff. Locals quite friendly as well. I would definitely try this venue again.
Hermanus Beach Club is in very nice surroundings. The only negative points are that there is no swimming beach and the informal settlement that sits on your doorstep.
There is so much to do in Hermanus. Would love to go again to explore the place further.
