The open-plan kitchen is equipped with a stove and oven, a microwave, a fridge, cutlery and crockery, as well as tea-and-coffee-making facilities. Cleaning equipment is provided. The lounge is equipped with a TV with DStv premium, and Wi-Fi is available.
The unit opens onto a stoep with a built-in braai area, and safe parking is provided behind a lockable gate. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.
Heron's Haven has direct access to the river and is not safe for small children. Guests also have access to the jetty should they have a boat they would like to use.

The owner Erna was very helpful and kind, always checking if we were ok and need anything. It was a bit windy and cold so we were indoors most of the time when we were there. Very comfortable accommodation for 2 people with everything one needs, including an exceptional, friendly hostess. Future plans with a sheltered built-in braai will further improve the accommodation.
Beautiful view of the canal and Bergrivier. Calm and quiet with the waterfowl on your doorstep. Pricewise very nice. The bathroom is too small for the wife, but I had no problem. The WiFi was very weak, most of the time had no internet.

I enjoyed my stay, and with the hospitality of Erna, and welcome, how different. The unit was excellent, and with attention to detail, not often expected, hairdryer, Magneto standby light (for load shedding), shower gel etc., to name but a few. Will definitely book shortly and enjoy the West Coast as an undiscovered gem in the Western Cape.
We had a very pleasant overnight stay at Heron's Haven. The place is ideal for 2 people, although our adult son did not have any complaints about his night on the day bed in the living room. There is a nice view of the canal and Berg River, and very good bird life (the reason for our visit).
Very nice owners who go out of their way to make you feel at home. Great location on the water with a wonderful view of the canal and Bergrivier. Very suitable for water sports such as kayaking.
The owners are very hands on and friendly. Nothing is too much effort. For me, the only down side is the Weber braai, I would prefer to be able to make a wood fire.

Heron's Haven was an awesome experience. We had warm welcome on arrival with sufficient information provided about the local sightseeing. The space is neat and tidy with all essentials required for cooking and dining. We enjoyed the tranquillity as well as the visits from the local birds and tortoises, with beautiful picturesque early mornings and evening sunsets. This is definitely a destination to unwind.
We were very kindly received by Erna and immediately felt at home. The house is beautifully situated overlooking the Marina. We would have appreciated it if it was mentioned that the accommodation is private, but it is part of the house where the owners stay, only the lower part is a holiday apartment. The parking of vehicles must also be discussed in advance with the owner as their vehicles and our vehicle are all parked in a row in the panhandle. The unit is beautiful and very neat. The sleeping facilities may have been suitable for 4 adults, but the bathroom was definitely not suitable for 4 adults. It is very small and cramped. This really needs to be taken into account when making reservations. There is no living area if more than 2 people have to stay there. I believe for 2 people it should work very well. However, we had a nice stay.
