Joy and Mike are the absolute best hosts. Anything I would ask for was done in no time, and they even went the extra mile. I highly recommend Herschel Court Studio. The location is very convenient; it was easy to get to different places in the city, UCT, etc. Claremont is a very central suburb. Shopping and eating in the area is just a stone's throw away. We enjoyed our stay. The location was close to amenities and the hospital. The unit was very safe.
It was exactly what we needed. The WiFi is weak, and the online TV does not work because the WiFi connection is a low bit-rate. But we did not want to watch TV anyway, just eat and sleep after our day at the conference. What we would suggest is to have blockout curtains and not the fine see-through type. It would make the room darker during the night with all the street lights and maybe reduce the road sounds.
Still area, slept peacefully. All very safe.
Being a studio unit in an old building, the unit is basic. However, it has all the essential items for an easy overnight stay and is very conveniently located for shops, restaurants, the southern suburbs, and the city bowl. The lack of cleanliness is really unfortunate.
We spent 6 days over year end season. The area was rather noisy on New Year's Eve, but we did expect that.
Very dissapointed. The place wasn't ready on time. When we arrived they were still busy cleaning up and connecting the WiFi. We waited in our car for about 20 minutes. The place had a musty, mouldy smell. It seemed it badly needed to be aired. We tried to keep some windows open to get rid of the smell, but it was difficult because it's located on a busy street corner (noise pollution) and it was really cold. There was mould on the walls and window frames (not cleaned) and one of the chairs. The curtain was hanging loose on one side (no hooks) and the venetian blind was damaged and in need of replacement. The bedding was clean, but it seemed like the owner bought it at a thrift shop (or old bedding from their own home). The toaster and heater worked, but also looked like something that was past its sell-by date. There is no security gate, hence the poor safety score. Electrical wall plugs were loose and could pose a safety risk.
My husband and I urgently had to come to Cape Town for an operation for our little boy. We just wanted an apartment near the hospital, with a place to sleep, a bathroom and a fridge. The apartment offered everything we needed, neat and safe. Joy and her husband are wonderful. Will definitely stay there again.
Everything was perfect. Friendly and helpful owners with a central location that made our visit to Cape Town so much more comfortable. The result - a fantastic holiday.
I was on a short business visit and the facility fully met my requirements.
We did enjoy our stay, we even wanted to stay longer, but it was pre-booked.

Hieride was the perfect place for me and Beverley to spend the weekend. The location might not suit many people, but it was perfect for us. The apartment is small, but spacious enough for the 2 of us. The place is well equipped and, although the TV didn't work, it didn't bother us at all as we weren't there to watch TV. Mike welcomed us very kindly and we felt really welcome and at home. If I visit again, I will definitely book there again.

Only issue - they said there was WiFi and they even provided a password, but the WiFi didn't work. Otherwise wonderful accommodation, no other complaints.
Herschel Court is within walking distance of Newlands sports fields which is very convenient. Your car then remains safely behind. It is also within a few minutes' drive of the main tourist attractions in the Cape. The stay itself was very peaceful.
During the 8 days of our stay, we were never provided with clean towels or bedding. However, we will definitely use the accommodation again, we have already recommended it to our friends. The only problem is the traffic and the above. Mike is a nice host.

Also recommended Herschel Court to other possible users. Very suitable for early morning appointments and conveniently close to good restaurant.
We enjoyed our stay and Mike and Joy wonderful people to deal with. Some suggestions: paint the interior, some damp coming through. Also, the shower sprays water all over the floor when you shower as the glass panel not long enough. Maybe even put a heated blanket on the bed for winter. Otherwise, lovely.
No complaints, very clean, safe, and in a good location.
