House rules
Guests will need to sign an indemnity form on the premises, which will cover all members of your party occupying the lodge during your stay. This also covers pets. The property is pet-friendly for friendly dogs at a rate of R60.00 per dog per night. Please bring bedding, bowls and cleaning towels for your pet. With Heysbrook’s river, streams, and outdoor access, your dog/s are likely to get much wetter and dirtier than at home. Should your pet be inclined to jump on furniture, or sleep on your bed, please ensure you bring sufficient protective covers and linen. If anything is damaged, stained or has to be replaced as a result of your pets, such as curtains, duvet inners, cushions, etc., this will be for your account. Bakoni Forest Lodge is not fenced. If your dog/s is inclined to chase wild animals, we recommend having a leash to hand. Baboons and monkeys are regularly encountered on Heysbrook walks. In summer months tick prevention is recommended.
There are two and a half km of dirt road from the N4 to the lodge. The road is stony and uneven though is traversable in a conventional sedan with reasonable ground clearance. It is not advisable to drive with a vehicle with little clearance and low-profile tyres. Please take an easy drive and enjoy the scenery.
Except when there are other groups in residence in either the Bakoni Forest Lodge or the Tudor Cottage, guests are welcome to play music as loud as they’d like. When these other residences are occupied, please be understanding of their requirements for solitude and privacy, particularly when using the summerhouse, just as they are aware of the guests.
The use of synthetic confetti, glitter and other party decorations is strictly forbidden. Do remember that plastic glitter and the like, remain a visible pollutant for months, and even years after a special weekend has been concluded. The host reserves the right to call in professional cleaners from Nelspruit if this rule is ignored. Guests are welcome to use natural, organic, and biodegradable confetti and party decorations.
Whilst most of your requirements are included in the rate, extra usage and specific ancillaries are charged for, as is detailed later.
No firearms are permitted to be used on the estate. This includes pellet guns, paintball guns and crossbows. No hunting of any kind is permitted.
Except when the other residences are occupied, you are welcome to use a drone.
Smoking is not permitted inside the lodge. You are welcome to smoke outside on the verandas of the bedrooms, lodge, and summerhouse. Ashtrays are provided.
No fireworks are permitted. No fires - other than in constructed fire pits and fireplaces - are permitted. Please use the fire pit covers once you are finished at a recognised fire site.
