Quiet atmosphere and safe.
Accommodation very comfortable. More than we expected.
This was a unique experience for us as a family. The lodge is located in the mountains and is off the beaten track. The newer lodge was lovely and homely. Be warned the climate is completely different from George itself. The nights can get cold even in December. Overall, this lodge is highly recommended.
A very enjoyable stay which was complimented by excellent service from arrival to departure. All management and staff were extremely efficient and rendered all services with a feel good smile.
The accommodation was very clean but an improvement would be if coffee, tea and milk were available for at least the number of nights of stay. The houses also get incredibly cold, an electric blanket or hot water bag would be very welcome!
Out type of place to stay. Open fresh air and clean air. They did so many new things that they have never done.
A complimentary bundle of wood and matches would be much appreciated in the cooler months. Our first night was rather chilly. Also a lantern or candles for load shedding.
It was peaceful and we as a family really enjoyed it.
It was an excellent experience, we all loved and enjoyed well. Thank you for your help and service, we will recommend to our friends and also we may visit there in future.
Picturesque, private, romantic and for sure very peaceful. Just what the soul needs.
The lady at the reception received us very well and there was always a supply of clean towels.
We had a lovely & very comfortable stay at Highlands Lodge. The location is magnificent and it was an absolute treat to experience the 'misty mountains' in the late afternoon. We took a hike further up the mountain and the views were incredible. Lize-Mari, the host, was very friendly and accommodating. The grounds are beautifully kept and the swimming pool is pristine! We will most definitely be back! An all-round wonderful experience!!
Now 2nd visit there. Next year we will spend two nights again when we go to Hartenbos. Rest for the soul there.

I was able to rest after a long day without any disturbance and was very relaxed at the chalet.
Had an awsome weekend, not to costly and value for money.
Seeing the lodge in photos is something different than in reality. It's really very beautiful in the mountains with the scenery. We did just sleep there and explored George to Mossel Bay during the day. It's not far from everything and it's an experience to drive over the Outeniqua Pass to it. Lizemari received us kindly and her directions are spot on. One has no difficulty in finding the place. The GPS only takes you to a point. She is helpful and friendly. Would stay there again anytime.

We had a lovely stay at Highlands, It was pretty cold in the evenings and mornings, giving us a great excuse to light the fire. The area is beautiful and a quick drive to George and the surrounding area. I would definitely stay again! Summer would be great with the pool.
I also recommend that they maybe consider putting in WiFi due to the location of the place and the poor signal for cell phone services.
Not worth what is being charged for.
We thoroughly enjoyed the short break. Place is centrally located for a quick visit to Knysna, Oudtshoorn etc. Everything you need is in the cottage. The walk in nature was wonderful and the swim afterwards was a nice experience. We will be back again soon.
It was indeed a great stay.
The time at Highlands Lodge was very lay and peaceful. The chalets had everything we needed. The stove in room 14 needs repair but otherwise everything was great. Thank you very much Lizemari for the hospitality and lovely welcome.
Nature, fireplace, pool, silence and calming.
Our stay was absolutely fantastic. We basically had the lodge to ourselves, other than another chalet that was booked out. The chalet and the grounds was super, super clean. Highlands Lodge is a quiet, relaxing place to stay. There is no WiFi in the chalets but you can get access at the reception area. Thank you to Mike and staff for looking after us. We will definitely be coming back again.
Fantastic location and nicely secluded. Just hope we didn't make too much noise. Will visit again anytime! Beautiful location, tidy and lots of space, thank you no television. George 20 minutes away.
The place is beautiful, but it will be nicer if they can have TV's in the Challets as the kids get bored without TV.

Still struggling to get hold of breakage deposit and owner. Owner just reads the messages and ignores them.
The surroundings are really very beautiful, but the carpets inside the chalet smell musty because it is a very humid area. Our shower door wouldn't close either, but I slept very well. The beds are very comfortable. At least we did have cell phone reception.
Been freezing cold and rainy all week. Kids were very boring, because they couldn't swim or play in the park. Even struggled to prepare meals as braai is outside and raining wet all the time. Stofie is a bit small so it takes a long time to prepare food like this for 6 people. We were also not allowed in according to the time indicated and were once again asked to leave the lodge an hour earlier. Pack lots of warm clothes, because because it lies between 2 mountains it is very cold. And little for kids to do when the weather is bad. And make sure you take extra money with you, because you will first be asked at the office for a R500 breakage deposit.

Lodge is in the mountains next to an apple farm, beautiful and quiet, friendly staff, neat and clean. It has a large swimming pool and play ground. Great for kids.

Hostess Lizemari was helpful and friendly. Everything is clean and tidy. Lodge is within 30 minutes of attractions in Oudtshoorn, Knysna, George and Mossel Bay.
The lodge is between the mountains and the scenery is very beautiful. The waterfall is close and easily accessible. The garden is beautiful. Unit 13 where we stayed is basically furnished without a TV and coffee tray. The check-in time is confusing as it is 19:00 on the website, but according to reception it is 18:00. We received the deposit back very quickly, thank you. We will visit the lodge again.

We had a nice stay, but struggled with the pipes in the toilet which didn't work correctly and stopped the water. The tap dtripped all the time on the floor.

My husband and I absolutely loved Highlands Lodge. It is one of the most amazing places we visited. We both love nature and we love the beauty and quietness that comes with it and that is what you get at Highlands Lodge.
Centrally located to explore the Garden Route. Comfortable accommodation, beautiful swimming pool, feels very close to nature.
We had a great 2 nights here in the forestry-type houses! It was simple, neat and clean (towels are provided). The water in the houses tastes delicious and is clean mountain water! Unfortunately there was no wood, but luckily we packed. Take your own grid and triangle with you too. The nights can be cold in winter and spring, so ask for a cottage with a fireplace (there is a heater in every cottage). We are nature lovers and therefore really enjoyed the mountain and fynbos environment. L. W. there is a breakages deposit payable on arrival (cash only - see website).

It was a fantastic holiday. The view of the mountains is breathtaking. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Never experienced the heat of the environment because it is so situated in the mountains, it was delightfully cool. Pool is well maintained. Our unit was neat.

Definitely value for money. Family from the Cape came to greet us and immediately fell in love with the place and liked Highlands Lodge so much that they also used the lodge for their stay and thanked me profusely for introducing them to the place.
We were received very kindly, the service was excellent and the accommodation clean and comfortable. It gets quite cold between the mountains but the view is fantastic!
