Our stay was amazing, kitchen well stocked, lounge area very comfy with tv, the shower was lovely only one small thing - the bed was a bit small and a bit too firm but overall our stay was lovely.
It was perfect, we had a lovely weekend getaway. It is clean, and everything you need is there. We had the privilege to meet our hosts, and they are such pleasant people.

We had a great stay in unit 2. We would not recommend the unit for long term stays. In the winter months there is a lot of humidity, but the unit should be cool in the summer. Be aware that if you rent the place during school holidays, there will be a lot of traffic.

Very nice place to sleep at Hippoholiday. Walking distance from the Crocodile River. Bunch of animals came to say hello. Would sleep there again anytime. Might just look at putting a stainless steel grill at the braai area. The one that was there is quite a bit rusty. Had a little trouble getting the rust off and clean, but otherwise everything was 100%. Enjoyed it a lot.
Hippoholiday can be recommended for two people up to a family that wants to come and experience the beautiful nature of life. If you love nature; wildlife then this is the right place to choose and close enough to Kruger National Park.

We have already booked 3 cottages at Hippoholiday for a large group. It is fully equipped and offers everything and more that is needed to feel at home. Sharon was excellent and was in constant contact from the moment our booking was made and immediately helped with any issues. We had a great time and relaxed in the pool. The houses are spacious and the visiting areas nice and cozy. Something that might be looked at is the electricity. The 3 cottages' geysers, air coolers and stoves cannot be used at the same time, otherwise there is an interruption in the power supply. Many times we were without electricity and had to "schedule" among ourselves when the geysers and ovens were to be used.
We can only thank Sharon for keeping us informed of all the events at all times. Communication and information from her was excellent. The house was truly a pleasure to stay in. Everything but everything one could need was there. Thank you Sharon.
Roads can be scraped every now and then. Good location and quiet.

Communication between owner and us was really exceptional and pleasant (the best compared to any other place we have stayed). We were regularly informed about the "loadshedding" times. The apartment was very neat, clean and very comfortably furnished with everything we might need. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit. Hippoholiday is our new favorite place we discovered.

Sharon was always available with advice and help as it was our first holiday at Marlothpark. The house is neatly furnished and super homely. Sharon has thought of everything in the house of double plugs. Place is clean and tidy and everything was available from grill tongs to steak knives.

Marloth is great for private lodge-type sightings on a budget. Bar the Rhino, we saw the big 5 in the first 24 hours. The places we have stayed at have suited our pockets and the owners have been super friendly.
Apart from the giraffes and zebras, many of the other species of goats came to visit. Very tame and ate out of our hands.
Hippoholiday met all our requirements. Not the most luxurious place, but was clean and everything needed was there. Sharon made arrangements with us ahead of time and she was extremely hospitable and helpful. We enjoyed the boma and on the last morning a bunch of goats and a kudu came to surprise us.
Pleasant visit, with the pool and the animals that keep coming by. We enjoyed it so much. The kudus' visit on the first morning was a big surprise. They are tame and we were able to take good photos and memories with us.

Everyone who is going to drive a regular sedan, just please. be careful, the dirt roads are very rough. It is still possible with a sedan (as in our case), just drive slowly and patiently. However, I would recommend a vehicle with a better ground clearance. However, the roads should not keep you from this incredible experience. Young and old will enjoy it. Thanks again to Sharon for your hospitality. The house was perfectly clean and tidy and the lapa with braai was a dream. My advice: book now.

Suggest that housing that is not connected to Eskom power be prematurely loaded with at least R300.00 units especially in the summer and the rental costs should be adjusted accordingly. Marlothpark's roads/streets are horribly impassable. Everyone is no longer so young and healthy to be jerked and plucked like that. Good luck to the owners for not losing business due to of bad roads.

My parents came to visit me for 2 weeks for my mother's birthday and I wanted to surprise them with a nice stay in the middle of nowhere. I made my decision based on a previous review and couldn't have asked for better. Sharon was in contact with me from the beginning and patiently answered all my questions. She also made numerous recommendations for safaris and nice places to eat near the accommodation and we could visit with peace of mind, because everything was literally a stone's throw from us. Everything was exactly as in the photos, with an added bonus, the pool that was completed and filled a day before our arrival. We had many visitors from nature who came to drop in, which added to that extra special woodland experience. I would recommend the Hippo Cottage where we stayed to anyone. I will definitely stay there again in the future.
The animals literally come to you. Saying goodbye was extremely difficult. There's a peace and tranquility you get there. Would definitely recommend it.

We stayed in the flat which was spacious and clean, the surroundings are great and we had a lovely patio outside with a braai. The owners of the property sent daily updates on any animal sightings along the river front. Sharon was wonderful and assisted us with towels as we had forgotten to pack them. I would certainly stay there again.

Hippoholiday is set in a beautiful, tranquil area and we saw loads of game, both in Marloth Park and by looking from Marloth Park to the Kruger Park. They have beautiful hiking trails and space to jog and cycle. The owners were very helpful and friendly and solved a problem with the electricity very quickly. They also forward information to you about things happening in the area. All and all we had a good stay. However, the flat's kitchen area is very small. There isn't enough surface space. One of the rooms didn't have a wardrobe. The small space caused the flat to feel inconvenient after a few days, especially with a family of four. The flat is much smaller than the house. According to the house rules they also expect you to use the front garden and not the backyard. Be warned: most of the photos of animals were taken in the backyard. The front yard opens up onto the road and the animals do enter through here, but grass is placed out for the animals at the back and so they spend much more time there. The backyard is bigger and has a big boma and an area where animals can be coaxed to so you can see them better. It's really great, but is only meant for those staying in the house and not in the flat. I would recommend Hippoholiday and the flat only if you're staying there for a few days.
