We really enjoyed our time there this summer. We just wanted to enjoy our wedding anniversary in peace, and we did. Thank you very much.
The stay was great, peaceful and very relaxing. Shops are close by, as is the lagoon. The food is very delicious and really professionally prepared, in a real master chef style. The atmosphere downstairs is very peaceful, with appropriate music upstairs and downstairs.
The room was very neat and so was the bathroom. Fridge and kettle for coffee and tea were also welcome.

The hotel is a bit run down. The carpets are very cheap and in the passages, they do not even go all the way to the walls. There is plenty of exposed concrete on the walkways. Both mornings when we had breakfast, the carpets were dirty. We had to ask staff to come take our order and for clean glasses for the juice. Both nights, the locals were in the restaurant making a lot of noise. At least it all stopped at 10pm both nights. The staff were very friendly, and we were greeted everywhere we went. Our room had a little balcony, and the view was great from there. The hotel does not look the same as in the pictures.
The staff were friendly and helpful, but I would not stay here again. We got practically no sleep because noise outside, bad and considered packing our bags and going home at 2 o'clock in the morning.

It was okay. Bath was dirty. It is near a beach where they make a lot of noise. Furthermore, it is okay to stay over for one night. We were very happy about the elevator.
The hotel has a lot of potential. WiFi almost never came through. You can smell the other customers' smoke when you stand on the balcony. Unpleasant smell in the corridors smells like pee, sorry, but that's all I can put it.
My booking was for 3 nights, I only stayed for 1 because the room was too compacted and for this I blame website. We were 5 people in a small room. My room definitely did not look like the below pics.
One shoud manage expectations - value for money if you are looking for a budget stay in Saldanha. Reception very friendly and helpful. Don't bother to eat at restaurant/breakfast - rudimentary.

We received very prompt, friendly service upon arrival. The room was on the second floor and we could take our bags up with a lift. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant on the third floor and a bar on the first floor with very nice sea views. Our room had a small balcony with a sea view. I enjoyed the stay at Hoedjiesbaai Hotel. Staff were helpful during checkin - checkout didn't go as smoothly as no one was available to help at that time. Not to diminish their service, we have to also consider the President raised the level of lockdown the previous night and staff were busy with those lockdown regulations. Overall a great stay, clean, neat and very safe. I would stay there again.
It was pleasant to spend the night there. There is no closed parking available, so you have to leave your car in the parking area in front of the hotel on the street. There is a guard in the evenings to keep an eye. We had to secure our trailer to a hand rail with a lock because there is no other place for safe storage of your trailer (thankfully I packed a lock for such situations). In the evening you hear a lot of cars speeding by and people talking loudly outside in the streets. The hotel is beautiful and the restaurant has a beautiful view of the bay.

Get a room on the sea with a patio, it does cost a little extra. Restaurant was then on Sunday evening. Well breakfast next morning in beautiful restaurant upstairs, beautiful sea views. Room was quite cold.

A major concern was parking - it wasn't enclosed/gated - I wasn't at ease through the night with that situation.
View was great. There were some bugs in the room. TV's remote control didn't work, blanket was dirty, porch missing 2 glass panels. Hotel is old and needs some attention.
The bed was neat. The balcony was very neglected and there was a coffee tin where you had to put your stubs. The tin was rusted. Our water container in the room didn't even have water in it. I think they should look into it a bit.
The hotel is an old but neat hotel, we were worried about the safety of our car. We paid the car guard extra money for our car's safety. The location of the hotel is now in a bad part of town. Although perfectly located by the bay. We could experience the sunrise and also have a nice view of the moon in the evening over the bay. And if you want to hear the sea, the hotel is perfect.
The accommodation was for my parents. They were very impressed with the stay and couldn't stop talking about their good experience.
One goes on vacation to rest and break away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel is located in such a way that you won't be able to shut down and relax. It also feels/looks like it is located in an industrial area. I would not recommend it at all. When we arrived you could see people standing in the rooms smoking. This is not a desired getaway vacation.

The view over the water was beautiful and also all the birds that swim there or walk on the sand. The meals were very delicious.

The hotel is quiet and offers easy access to the beach. If you are lucky enough to get a sea view room with a balcony, your soul can rest all weekend. Time stood still. The room was neat and clean. We had a nice view of the sea. The shower-bath with curtain is not ideal, but at least it is clean. The hair dryer needs to be replaced.
We had a great stay and the ladies at reception and kitchen staff are very friendly and helpful, but the rooms could do with a little renovation. There is no aircon in the rooms, but there is a ceiling fan which does not offer much coolness during the day. Then maybe they can think of putting a bar fridge in the rooms with a filter water kiosk on each floor. It will be very nice.

Clearly an old building that has been renovated. Walls show signs of moisture seeping through in a few places and many tiles in bathroom are pulling away from the walls although none have fallen off yet. Chair provided was uncomfortable to use at desk. However, food and service in restaurant was excellent.
The view was very pretty, but the room (especially the bathroom) was filthy. I wiped down the toilet seat and the paper towel came back black. The white towels had brown stains on them. The balcony had absolutely no privacy and was covered in bird faeces. The staff were kind, but not very professional.

The floor was not very clean. It was evident on our crawling child's hands, legs and feet. The balcony is not at all safe for small children, especially not on the second floor. The security of the vehicles cannot be compared with other hotels. There is no security gate behind which vehicles can park.

Location is ideal. Shops within walking distance. View from balcony overlooking the sea, stunning. Food at the restaurant delicious (especially the sea food pizza). A damper was the lift not working and also the lady that checked us in needs some lessons in customer service. We did our booking through the website and settled our account through them. When we checked in we were told that we still had an outstanding balance. After advising her that we had paid she then requested proof. Our correspondence with the website was done via email so we did not have any hard copy. A simple phone call from her to them would have cleared it up. Instead we were made to feel unwelcome.
The place has so much potential but needs a lot of love. The room we stayed in didn't smell too good, probably because of moisture, steam and mold in the walls. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant that is in the hotel is something else, very tragic. The carpets are dirty, tables are dirty, cappuccinos are certainly not cappuccinos. The food is rather unpalatable. All in all it was probably great, we just saw it as an adventure, but will not simply stay there again.

You advertise Hoedjiesbaai Hotel under Langebaan - this is indeed Saldanha and very far from Langebaan.
The venue for the hotel is suburb, right at the beach. Friendly staff, however they should just make sure the room has enough utilities. Also if they can later change the carpet to tiles or laminated flooring it would be much more hygienic and make the rooms look bigger and even cleaner.

The hotel is old and neglected and dirty in halls and stairs. Elevator not working. Rust everywhere and dirty windows. At the same price we coul've stayed in a luxury room in Paternoster. I feel scammed.
Hoedjiesbaai Hotel is a very old building that requires a lot of modernisation. Hotel staff is friendly. The sea view was spoilt by the local beach going kids running naked and swearing. There was a lot of loud noise and banging whilst cleaning. You can also hear your neighbours showering and using the loo.
For what you pay you get a very neat room with an amazing sea view! Restaurants are just around the corner. The people are very friendly and I will definitely go again.

I had a lovely stay. It was quiet and all the necessary shops were nearby. My room was serviced everyday and the people there are very friendly. I was busy with a course and came back to a clean room every evening to sleep.

Friday night after check in it was very quiet until around 22h30 when there was a sudden commotion which basically lasted until around 03h00. Saturday was very quiet until check-out time on Sunday morning.
Good basic hotel. Service well. Wonderful view. Rooms small, but hard work has been done to make them colorful and retro. The view makes the basic room absolutely worth it. The restaurant is unfortunately very expensive and not market-related.

Our period from 16-18 November 2018 definitely went by too quickly. Hotel is excellently located and I would recommend it to anyone anytime. The coastal town of Saldanha is a place of a thousand and my family's next holiday will definitely be there.

The stay at Hoedjiesbaai Hotel was okay. Breathtaking sea view from balcony suites. The lift did not work so it was a bit inconvenient. Location is great shops and liquor store just across the street. The live band playing at the restaurant from another venue down the street was awesome.
Our stay at Hoedjiesbaai Hotel was good. There was a small error with our reservation, but they were quick to correct it and were willing to provide additional WiFi free of charge to compensate for the inconvenience. We had a bit of trouble connecting to the WiFi in our room, which was inconvenient, but then managed to get full signal WiFI in the common lounge with a view of Saldanha's lagoon which was a good alternative. The room is very nice and well equipped and we could enjoy a beautiful sunrise from our bed the next morning.
It's very quiet in Saldanha. You could almost get lost there. It's not a place to get wild in. Preferably a well timed holiday on top of a holiday. I would go there to lose myself and find myself. Based on those findings, I would say it's the perfect hideaway.

Pleasant stay. The restaurant service is power, but the food was tasty. Maintenance can get some attention, e.g. the shower does not have a door. We were 3 people, but did not have coffee, tea etc. not found for 3, only for 2. Parking is insufficient.
Stay at Hoedjiesbaai was very pleasant. Only one problem: the elevator was out of order. It was a big problem, because it was very difficult for my husband to go up stairs because he is on oxygen 24 hours a day and his lung capacity only works at 24%. It made him terribly tired. I just want to mention that Mel, the general worker, was very helpful by taking my husband's oxygen tank as well as our luggage up to the rooms and again on the last day of our stay as help. It's the third time we've stayed at Hoedjiesbaai and that the lift has caused problems. Reception never once asked if we were ok or offered help. These problems will not keep me away from Hoedjiesbaai Hotel. Thanks again to Mel. She is a star.

Yes and no. Yes, because the price is right for people who want to get away. No, the place needs a lot of upgrading. It's more like a backpacker I would say. The photos make it look ideal, but then it didn't, the carpets and curtains put me off, because it didn't feel neat to me, so maybe I would prefer teals or other carpets, but certain people will accept it. Maybe I'm just full of nonsense. For me, I feel the place is ideally located because there is almost nothing to do in Saldannah. The place just needs to be modernized a bit.

Yes for the amount we paid but no for the accommodation. If you like a hostel this is for you. First we get a bathroom whose tiles can fall on you at any moment and then we get a room with dirty, damp carpet that doesn't smell good. What we really appreciated was the cleaning service and their reliability. Wasn't crazy about the idea of the car being parked outside, but at least there is security all night. Furthermore, the girls at reception were very friendly.
Ceiling fan was 2 cm full of dust. After cleaning it, it doesn't even work. The garage smells old and carpets are already coming loose. The shower tiles are also coming loose.
We were childishly excited to spend the night at Hoedjiesbaai Hotel, as it looks like such an exceptionally beautiful hotel. We specially extended our holiday route to Saldanha to spend the night at the exceptional hotel. On booking we had to book an additional room as we were 4 guests (3 adults and 1 child of 3 years old). They didn't want to give us a single room with a double bed and a single bed as we requested (because there is an extra child), although it was explained that our boy would sleep on the bed with us anyway. Regardless, we agreed without fuss and booked an additional room. On arrival the staff were not polite at all, peering at us through a crack in the door and only after I had to repeat myself to book in did the receptionist approach us to help. The corridors and rooms smelled terrible. And smoking was allowed in the rooms. We were placed in the back rooms, furthest away from the sea view (there were minimal rooms booked during our overnight stay - again we were satisfied and accepted it). To our bitter regret, we decided that evening to enjoy dinner at the hotel's restaurant with the most beautiful view. What a disappointment! They do not cater or provide for children at all. The only food they have available for children is a hamburger and chips (how is a 3 to even 7 year old going to eat that?). We then asked if the waiter/chef could help us with something additional such as e.g. an egg, bun or even breakfast cereal so that we can at least give our boy something to eat. Of course at the necessary costs! But we were only told "sorry, it's only for breakfast". It cost my husband to drive and buy other food for our child. The response to our complaint/unhappiness was straightforward that it should be taken up with management, and that they can't do anything about it, that's just the way it is. It was expected that we had to get an extra room because of our child, but at the same time they don't provide the basic needs for a child? What then finally contributes to our unpleasant stay is the fact that our room had no hot water. We then just took a shower in the 2nd room, which fortunately had hot water. We have always only heard good things about Hoedjiesbaai hotel, but they will probably never see us again. I would definitely not recommend them to anyone either. Was really sad and very disappointed!
Room clean and tidy, except for broken lace curtain. "Lounge" section needs more decor. Noise both at night and in the morning very disturbing. Restaurant above a specific room. Outside area needs renovation. Where possible create more recreational facilities. Persons smoking in the bar area will not be addressed. Good enough for overnight comfort.
Ridiculous place, don't let the photos on the website fool you. Arrived at the place after 15 hours of driving. Upon arrival, the parking and entrance hall dropped us off. The receptionist handed us a key. Went up to our room, the smell in the room was not nice at all, smelled like rotten sea water. We decided not to make a scene and that we would record it at the reception the next morning. The next morning when we wanted to take a bath, the bath plug didn't fit and we had to use a bag that we luckily had with the plug so that water wouldn't run out. The paint on the ceiling in the bathroom is also peeling and looks dirty. We went to reception and said we were unhappy with the room and the woman said "unfortunately management is not available" we then checked out and asked for a refund for the remaining day we booked there. We also booked a "seaview" room but you have to go through a sliding door that is difficult to open to partially see the sea. I think the hotel is past its "expiry date" and needs more than just a new management to save it. Sorry Hoedjiesbaai Hotel.
The worst I have ever booked. Never again.
The premises were not clean. The entrance to the premises was dirty. The cigarette boxes were lying around. The carpets in the hallways were full of stains and the walls were peeling. The electrical wires were open. The corridors smelled of smoke and the premises were not located in a good area. Although they had a security guard late at night, the vehicle was not safe. After the above, I do have to mention that the lady in the restaurant was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good. The receptionist was not helpful and just stopped with key in hand and said to go up the stairs. I don't think the premises meet hotel standards.

Also thanks to Hoedjiesbaai Hotel itself for their hospitality and kindness. LekkeSlaap you are number one! Will book through you again anytime and thank you again for helping me look for accommodation just to put my head down because it was a last minute decision. Thank you very, very much!
Genuine rural friendliness and atmosphere. Staff very helpful. Bigger TV screen and better channel programming will definitely contribute even better to success. Will definitely stay there again and recommend to all tourists with an open heart.

We had a room with a balcony and the view is beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful. The biggest problem we had was the parking, at times there is no room at all for all the vehicles and you have to stop on the pavement or elsewhere. There is no safety for vehicles.

Comfortable rooms close to the ocean. Unfortunately there were no family rooms for 4 people. Noise during the night. The fairly expensive buffet breakfast serves only instant coffee! The bar downstairs does have brewed coffee but not willing to serve it with breakfast.

Accommodation met our expectations.
The view was beautiful, the location was fantastic. Unfortunately, I can't give more compliments than that. Our bathroom was constantly under water due to the shower leaking water, our towels were full of stains and the lady at reception couldn't even give us teaspoons for our coffee when we asked because there were no spoons. We were scared to leave our car outside, even though we were assured there was a guard, but I got the feeling anyone could just walk into the hotel. Guest access cards may solve this problem. Thanks, but we might stay somewhere else next time.

The prices are quite low and one cannot expect too much. The staff is very friendly, but the hotel definitely needs upgrading. The room 2028 we were in reeks of sewage and that is definitely not acceptable, even at the price. The sliding door to the balcony can only be opened with difficulty and looks out onto a flat roof on which lie 1000s of cigarette butts. The hotel definitely deserves upgrading. The hotel itself is definitely not seeing me again. The restaurant, the food and the service in the restaurant are excellent and I will definitely go to the restaurant again.
Not very clean, the passage smelled like urine. When we checked in the blankets folded inside of the bed had dirty stains on. Such a beautiful location with friendly staff. Wish they could've kept the rooms a bit cleaner. The dark bathroom really needs a make over.
I suggest they seriously fumigate their rooms as well as the bedding and linen because this is the first time in my life that I have been eaten by bed bugs.
The first room I stayed in had a terribly strong damp, mouldy drain smell coming from the bathroom. They arranged for another room the next day which was better. The breakfast was not great, but at least the view from the dining room was beautiful. The rooms I stayed in would not be good if you plan on sleeping in late - the noise from outside starts quite early. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated.

This was the second weekend we spent here, and the second experience was even better than the first. Ideal for just sitting on the balcony, looking out over the sea and forgetting about the "rat race" going on elsewhere. The affordable rates make it accessible to everyone. There will definitely be a third time!

The hotel does not have enough secure parking at night; the public beach next to the hotel during the festive season attracted unsavory characters who urinated in public and also abused alcohol in public. The hotel itself is very neat with spacious rooms, if a little tired, but for the price it is an absolute "bargain"! The hotel is also close to the West Coast shopping center ("Mall"), Langebaan, Vredenburg and Jacobsbaai. We used the hotel as a base to explore and visit all the places around Saldanha and it was always lovely to come home to the hotel (except of course for the parking). .
We spent the night in Room number 21. It made too much noise above us for me. We were awake early from the noise.

We booked 3 family rooms but was given 3 double bed rooms with no apologies, nothing, cause they were fully booked.
Other than the view, it's not neat at all. Breakfast wasn't interesting. The shower was pathetic. The curtains even worse.

If you are in a hurry, better choose other accommodation. It is necessary that you meditate and get lost in the calm sea around you. With a glass of wine and delicious peasant food, the years can be shaken off and dreams of past years become a reality. The hotel's atmosphere encourages you to just breathe again.
We enjoyed our time in the hotel. It was clean and tidy! The parking was a problem: There is too little when the hotel is full. They also did not inform us in advance that their restaurant was going to close on Christmas Day. The fan in the room didn't work either.
Arrived late but was greeted kindly. Would prefer if there was something to eat late at night seeing that the kitchen was already closed when I got there.
Beautiful sea view has been ruined by dirty beaches, people under the influence and then again church on a Sunday morning. This should have been a town square rather than a beach.
The hotel's saving grace is simply the ideal location and beautiful sea view. The rooms need urgent attention. Curtains are torn and battered. The breakfast was extremely disappointing and definitely not worth the money.
The rooms' decor is quite modern, but the hotel is old and neglected inside. We had room no 9 on the first floor. Bathroom stank very badly because the toilet's rubber seal is not tight. We brought it to the management's attention. They came to try to do something and came with an apology, but it was very bad. We couldn't shower there and had to go and shower at the friends. Bedding was stained and wrinkled, coffee mugs were dirty, room was dirty and with cobwebs. It was the worst sleeping experience I have ever had.
