"The accommodation was unacceptable."

The house on THE website is not the house we stayed in. The owners admitted it was another house. It was at 22 Lincoln Street. The kitchen was a hallway converted. The width for movement was the width of the stove. There was no work surface, unless the "breakfast nook" is taken into account. It was a surface of about 1.2m by 800cm. The kettle and coffee were also on it, as well as our own items. The fridge is a small fridge that is hand painted gold and looks very badass. There is no hot water in the kitchen. The main bathroom only has a cold tap by the sink. The bathroom mats were old and frayed. With the 2nd bathroom's shower, I felt like I had to put on "flip flops" to shower. There was no soap or toilet spray. There was no provision for load shedding. The 2nd bedroom did not have a side curtain, so the sliding door or curtain had to be closed at all times, otherwise residents of an apartment block could look directly in. The backyard was dirty. There lay dried pieces of sunlight soap. The sofas in the living room had peeling paint. The lace curtains were still on the old fashioned rack used for lace curtains and protruded in a "run" under the curtain hood. We have stayed in 8 guesthouses and all the others have received full ratings from me, so I am not a hard person to please. I kept apologizing to my family from Belgium. Fortunately, they saw the photos.

The host was very accommodating and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only a short walk to the lovely beach, but far away enough not to be bothered by beachgoers. We were a party of 5 adults and all found it very comfortable.
