33 guests' feedbackThis is a pleasant, but rather run-down self-catering guest house. We stayed in Flat 1 and 2. Flat 1 was rather dark with quite dubious wiring. However, the unit was clean and the mattress on the bed was comfortable. The unit was not very well equipped for self-catering, but for an overnight stay it was comfortable. It would have been nice to have some tea and coffee available in the units. We had our dogs with us and the back garden was secure and safe for them. The host was very friendly and welcoming.
We had a great stay and definitely value for money and appreciate the hospitality.
The accommodation was value for money and the service was good.
Host was accommodating and assisted with dirty laundry. Unit was clean. Some mattresses were too soft (especially the double bed). Unit sliding door requires fixing. Unit has one thin wall that is not soundproof.
Unkept, dirty, no lights in footpath, no coffee.
We were family of 11 needing accommodation for funeral. We were kindly welcomed and Johan went out of his way to accommodate and assist us.
The place is quiet and peaceful.
The arrival welcome was good. Missed having a cuppa in the morning - some teabags and instant coffee will add a nice touch to the place. Even if it means taking the price up by R20 per night, it's really good having some Rooibos or Five Roses on offer. Lighting inside the flat and outside, especially the side entrance needs to be looked at - on a rainy night like we had, one risked spraining a leg as it was semi-flooded. Would I book again? Definitely yes, as I think the small touches needed on the unit can be made by the host at minimal cost.
TV was not as stated.
The place was full of dust, the bedding smelled of dust, no TV. Bathroom full of ants. Spiderwebs all over. The most horrible stay ever. The pathway to the rooms was dark and unsafe. Plugs not working.
The host, who we called "Oom" was amazing, treated us with so much respect and was patient with everyone, and he understood the kind of excitement everyone was in for the wedding. Someone else would have called it chaos.

Plekkie is beautiful and very comfortable, Johan is a very pleasant person, he and my husband had a great time hanging out. In my opinion, the apartment is more suitable for travelers who are just looking for a place to stay. Unfortunately, the apartment has no washing-up or kitchen facilities and you are limited to take-aways, unless you have family in town where you can eat or want to cook in the main house. There is a very small sink in the bathroom if you want to rinse out your evening cup soon. The family photos on the wall create a very homely atmosphere in the living room but abstract painting in the bedrooms would be more appropriate than the family photos. I would just suggest that the owner repair the roof in apartment 2 first before letting it out again, it seems that the beam in the middle of the living room floor is holding the roof in place, which is obviously extremely dangerous. We really enjoyed the two days we stayed there, even if the conditions were not so nice.
We had a great stay, not bad at all.
They have a hard time deciding whether it wants to be a lapa and bar or a guest room! No bedside tables, space is full of extension cords to get power from the bathroom.
Everything was opposite of what I expected. The photos on the website are not of the accommodation, but of the main house.

Loose, electrical wires and connections everywhere, also against the thatched roof. Room is overcrowded/unclean, mattresses very poor. I discussed it with the owner.
Room inside house where owner himself lives. Bed creaks terribly. Not very clean.
I will never be des lead again. We didn't sleep that night due to rats inside the place. It was dirty and smelly. The owner didn't even open his door in the morning so we can confront him to address these problems. The pool was not filled and the photos show pool has water in very much disappointed. We did sleepover in other guest houses in Henneman before but never experienced something like this.
The staff were friendly and very helpful; even waited for us until late at night. The unit was nice and private and had everything we needed. Only criticisms we can make are that it was a bit cramped (large, heavy furniture) and dark in the unit.
This is a great place to stay for one night as you pass through to your final destination. The owner is friendly and helpful. If you opt for the cheaper room as I did you share a bathroom with two other rooms which I wasn't too keen on, but it was clean enough. Just pack your own soap though, and for one night at that price it's not too bad. More than one night is not ideal if comfort is important.
Main light in bedroom did not work, only one bedside light worked, other had no globe. TV reception in room very poor, could only watch the channel that was selected in the lounge. If anyone changed the channel in lounge, so did yours in your bedroom. Lounge curtains were torn, not good to see. If someone else was showering or flushed the toilet when you need to shower, water pressure dropped very low. Otherwise, the room and bathroom was clean.
Cosy place for a group, in a quiet little town with friendly people.
The place is really good and the owner is very kind and takes good care of his guests.
We had a comfortable stay in Henneman.
I would not recommend the stay.
